This week our staff is hard at work finishing up the inaugural issue of Ace In The Cup, which hits stands at your local golf course Aug. 25. We’ve got a ton of great stuff coming your way in this first issue, starting with our cover story: Tiger Woods and Bluejack National. We’re giving you an inside look at Houston’s newest private golf community, located in Montgomery, and the former home of Blaketree National. The story focuses on the history of the property, dating back to 1985 when millionaire Thomas W. Blake first set out to build an exclusive course for he and his friends. The course was never supposed to see public play, but Blake passed away in 2001, shortly before it opened, leaving it to his family, who turned it into a public golf course.

The course shut down in 2012 after a period of dark years in which it never reached Mr. Blake’s vision. Now, with Tiger Woods and the folks at Beacon Land Development leading the charge, the 755-acre property looks like it’s well on its way to reaching the success Mr. Blake envisioned.

In every issue of Ace In The Cup, we’re going to offer tips on how you can help better your game, and what better leadoff than taking a look inside the mind of golfing-great Ben Hogan and his book, Ben Hogan’s Five Lessons: The Modern Fundamentals of Golf.

Beginning in this issue, we take a look at every golf course in Houston, and provide you with all the info you need—rates, head pros, yardages, and a brief summary of each course. As Hosuton’s premier golf magazine, we want to highlight what makes golfing here so great, and what better way than showcasing the courses that make it all possible.

We have a Q&A with Missouri City Mayor Allen Owen and how he led the charge to ressurcect the golf Course at Quail Valley, and a feature on a Houston couple with a golf room so vast, you won’t believe it’s real.

We’re also going to break down the century-aged question, what’s it mean to be a man, and how can you go about improving yourself. Steps 1 & 2, drink better beer and cook a mean steak.
