Topgolf has moved in and is drawing a big––and much needed––interest in the game of golf in Houston. This week, we sit down with Don Bachman, the director of operations at Topgolf Houston North in Spring, and discuss the Topgolf experience, how the company is bringing a much needed change to the game, and his .50-caliber Nerf gun.

Highlights

(3:16) [Topgolf] is very difficult to truly explain into words what we are, and until you physically see it and experience it, it’s really difficult for somebody to comprehend.

(6:11) People just come out and have a great time.

As we grow, we’re going to do a lot for the game of golf itself.

(12:40) What we bring is a great place for just about anyone to go to enjoy themselves, enjoy each other, meet new people…

(13:17) Any local charity that approaches us that wants to do a fundraiser or anything like that, as long as they’re a 501c3 organization, we are always willing to do something to assist and help.

(22:07) No one can do what we do, and that’s another exciting piece to this.

(23:40) We don’t compete with golf courses, we actually enhance the game and what those courses offer.

(26:07) Having a microchip in this or having a ball like this, does it affect distance at all or anything like a normal golf ball?

(28:53) We are looking at a third site currently, and possibly even a fourth. Houston is market we believe could potentially sustain up to five Topgolfs even.

(28:19) We are currently on track to exceed the NFL’s attendance rate by 2017.
