Here’s what’s fantastic about Assorted Goods: it’s always attempting something new. Host Dan Felton is going to say that this is a bi-weekly news podcast- but to me, what he is doing is what all the great segments on NPR “infotainment” shows do- he hears a story, ask and interesting/pointed question about it, and then goes off to the races to find where that question leads him. True to his word, he is an amateur…but that gives his perspective a fresh and unique feel, while not diminishing the research he does for the topics covered. One would think a meandering podcast on random topics would be hard to maintain, both due to quality and interest, but Dan manages to navigate the transition of topics from episode to episode, keeping the same level of enthusiasm and quality, while bringing his own unique humor and cheer to the fore. Assorted Goods is a must listen, give it a spin.
