Music is many things to me. It can be a way to kick back, relax and zone out or get pumped up. I can use music to express myself when I'm angry, happy or sad. Music even marks my life's moments and allows me to revisit those moments whether good or bad by playing the songs I listened to at those times. In those moments, I can revisit those experiences and sometimes even take measure of my life.Ever since the early 1990s, I have loved making mix tapes for myself and others. That eventually evolved into burning mix CDs and within the past 7 years into making podcasts. Initially just for fun, but over the past 3-4 years those podcasts have become more focused and purposeful. This podcast in particular is an effort to explore the constant musical struggle of finding the balance between beauty and noise. You'll also find, intermixed in the podcast, quotes from films which stood out in an impactful way to me. Those quotes, along with many of the songs selected, also attempt to touch on this idea of how music can be a method of self-reflection. The podcast uses a mixture of alternative, classical, electronic, hardcore and industrial music predominantly from the past five years, with a few older tracks added which I have always adored when it comes to finding that balance I mentioned.It is my hope that this connects with you, so please enjoy a mix I call, “Of Beauty and Discord”.Track Listing:01.
