Episode 30: Thriving After Exoneration with Jeffrey Deskovic

Jeffrey shares his story of being incorrectly incarcerated at the age of 16 for a rape and murder that he did not commit. He talks about the challenges of not being given parole because he maintained his innocence, losing the court case and all 7 appeals that followed to be left to fend for himself as no longer had the right to representation.

He then taught himself law from inside prison and wrote numerous letters asking for support from those outside. In an unlikely turn of events he explains how he was freed after the actual person behind the crimes was found and how he managed to keep his mindset and health in check despite the numerous brick walls and challenges he faced over the years.

He then talks to me about the hardships he faced re-integrating with society and the lack of support he was given despite being innocent and how he has now re-built a life based on his own sheer manifestation and positivity.
