Errors in Communication

  • Being dismissive
  • Being impassive
  • Telling someone to “Calm Down!”
  • Stating “you never” or “you always”

Remember when we used to call family with big important news and now sometimes we text because we know emotions will get the best of us and we won’t be about to talk.

Being able to communicate effectively is the most important of all life skills.  Be clear and concise and be confident in what you are going to say before you start communicating. Communication is simply the act of transferring information from one place to another. It may be vocally (using voice), written (using printed or digital media such as books, magazines, websites or emails), visually (using logos, maps, charts or graphs) or non-verbally (using body language, gestures and the tone and pitch of voice).

Body language plays a huge part when you are talking to others. They can tell if you are interested, bored, excited, overjoyed or being just plain rude!

Music is also another way to communicate…..Lou Rawls said that “Music is the greatest communication in the world. Even if people don’t understand the language that you’re singing in, they still know good music when they hear it.”

“Take advantage of every opportunity to practice your communication skills so that when important occasions arise, you will have the gift, the style, the sharpness, the clarity, and the emotions to affect other people. “

This quote is by Jim Rohn who is widely recognized as a personal development legend, he possessed the unique ability to bring extraordinary insights to ordinary principles and events.
