Dr. Reeves reveals the great utility of both an ICD and a Bi-ventricular implantable pacemaker in a variety of clinical situations, but stresses that the single greatest deterrent to sudden cardiac death is an implantable defibrillator in the non-ischemic cardiomyopathy patients who have a LVEF of <35% with a wide-complex QRS, especially LBBB. He also identifies the segment of such non-ischemic patients who are called “super responders” by the excellence of their response to bi-ventricular paced therapy.
