Welcome to the Christian Ministry Church podcast Will
0:06
bring that this message equip and empowers you
0:08
to live in the kingdom gut. Now for
0:10
today's message by pastor Paul Ke. Wow.
0:17
I mean, listen church, God is so good
0:20
to us. I mean, that was that was was thick.
0:27
That was got... I mean, that was powerful.
0:30
Woo. Can you imagine what heaven's is gonna
0:32
be like, all these myriad of people, praise in God
0:37
all in 1 accord in unity. You talk about how powerful that's gonna be.
0:42
Or we get a little taste of it. Right here.
0:46
I'm just... I don't know about you, but I'm grateful, God bless our campus with his
0:52
presence. And God has been faithful to do that
0:55
for 51 years. Death, 51 years.
1:01
God is so good. Well, I I want to
1:06
appreciate Josh and Sarah and Hunter and Chloe
1:10
and all of our counselors and our people that
1:13
worked in the kitchen. Thank you guys so
1:16
very much. Thank you. These guys have gotten very little sleep in
1:24
the last 2 weeks, and have had a lot of young people
1:29
come through our camp and and I get
1:31
to be involved I'm very privileged to get
1:33
to be involved in watching what god does. At high point, and you just can't you
1:38
cannot under rate what God does in summer camps.
1:43
Summer camps are so powerful and they're so
1:46
important because for so many young people, God sets the
1:51
course for their life. That summer camp.
1:55
And when I think about all of the... We have a lot of our our counselors
1:58
that have... That are here and
2:01
a lot of them are local and and some of them are not. But,
2:05
you know, what God does in their lives
2:08
to to get little sleep
2:11
to work hard to serve
2:14
to pour out when you don't have anything
2:16
left to pour out to be funny. When you don't wanna be funny anymore to
2:21
be loud when your voice is killing you and you're just exhausted and
2:26
but all to see lives
2:29
changed. And I... I've personally watched.
2:32
This year's our twentieth year. Of doing high point. I've been privileged to
2:35
be involved in every year. And to watch
2:38
what God has done through counselors and through
2:41
the young people that God brings here, literally, their lives have been said on a
2:45
different course. And I just... I wanna reiterate
2:47
what Eric said up here this morning Thank you,
2:51
Church. For making that possible because it takes
2:53
money to do all that. And so you
2:55
being faithful to not be greedy
2:59
and to not be sting and to give and make what we do
3:03
here possible for the next generation. Thank you so much.
3:07
It's just is just a real blessing and
3:09
we appreciate you being in the church.
3:13
Well, I I wanna talk to you this morning about generational curse.
3:17
Generational curse, not necessarily a topic. That it's
3:20
talked about a lot.
3:24
But I do wanna take a moment
3:27
to kinda unpack this for our church. You know, I never wanna take away from
3:34
the moment we encounter Christ.
3:37
And we have a lot of conversations about this.
3:41
It it Well, let me back up a little bit.
3:46
I have a lot going on in my mind. So it's just hard to bring all
3:49
this together. There's a lot of emotion right now. I was sitting in my chair, and I
3:54
was crying. I was just thanking God because I was remembering
3:58
what god saved me from. And if you guys knew what God saved
4:04
me from, you probably wouldn't be listening to me today.
4:09
But if I knew what God saved you from, I probably won't be talking to you today.
4:13
So even. Right? But as Eric was standing up here and
4:18
Eric and I, we're we're good friends. You can tell we wear our a hair like
4:21
and we dress a alike and don't know. He's
4:25
like a brother from another mother, apparently. He's he's my spiritual brother in Christ and
4:30
and we talk a lot about what God
4:32
has done in our life, and I know where Eric has come from.
4:36
I know about his upbringing in mountain pine,
4:40
very poor. Just a lot of dysfunction in his family.
4:45
We've shared our stories and what what Jesus
4:48
saved us from. And you you have to have
4:54
that moment. And Tim and I we're talking about how
4:58
the church is really cheap in that moment. Because you come down the altar and you
5:03
say a little prayer, and, you know, you you you think that
5:08
did it. And it could, if your heart
5:12
was sincere. And con try and broken in that moment.
5:18
See in that moment for me, my life
5:20
was transformed. God took a heart of stone,
5:23
this little this little stubborn rebellious
5:27
lost 20 year old.
5:31
And he broke my heart and he gave me a new heart. He said he took
5:34
a heart of stone and gave me a heart of flesh, and he gave me the
5:36
heart of Jesus. And and that that
5:40
being born again, literally be becoming a different person and being
5:45
born again, was the catalyst that set my life from
5:49
a completely different course. That has to happen
5:53
for everyone here. And if it, you know, and
5:57
you listen. You could have been in church
6:00
for 40 years and that not happen. III mean, I've seen it.
6:07
I've done ministry at a church. There was a woman who literally had played the organ
6:11
in their church for almost 40 years since
6:14
she had never been saved. Never gave her heart to Jesus. He was
6:18
a a religious person, but she never had that encounter.
6:22
Her heart was never truly changed. So
6:25
So that has to happen. And whether you've been coming here for
6:30
a long period of time or this today
6:33
your very first day and welcome. We're so
6:35
glad that you're here. And but that that moment
6:40
is vital in your life. Well, from that moment,
6:45
you know, then then you have to understand
6:48
from from that moment, there is a battle for your mind,
6:53
A literal battle for your mind. Many y'all
6:55
know what I'm talking about? Yeah. I mean, sometimes it's every day.
7:00
Sometimes minute by minute.
7:04
Lies from the enemy.
7:08
Doubts that you have about God and yourself, the
7:12
temptation of the world, just the lure of
7:15
culture, you know, friends and and and people trying
7:19
to get us to go in the in the wrong direction, depression,
7:23
anxiety of victim mentality, just feeling sorry for
7:26
yourself and having pity parties, and and, you
7:28
know, we all have to battle these things.
7:31
These... If we're gonna be real, These are things that we all battle.
7:37
And you have a free will and and and the devil, Satan would love nothing more
7:43
then to corrupt your decisions against God.
7:47
That's his goal. That's what he wants to do. That's his
7:50
plan every day is to corrupt your decisions
7:53
against god every day all day long. So our mind
7:57
is a weapon in our spiritual warfare.
8:01
It's a weapon. The bible says we do not wrestle against
8:05
flesh and blood, but we wrestle against principal
8:07
municipalities and powers and dark forces and heavenly
8:11
places. Amen. Y'all read that scripture. Absolutely.
8:15
So so when we talk about warfare, we're
8:17
talking about mental and spiritual battle.
8:22
Battle for our hearts, battle for our minds. These battles take place,
8:28
daily. Second Corinthians it says for the weapons of
8:33
our warfare are not of the flesh
8:36
So people aren't our problem. Now the devil wants does make us think
8:40
that they are, but they're not. It says it's not for the flesh. But
8:44
have divine power to destroy stronghold.
8:48
Therefore, take every what,
8:52
thought, captive, to obey Christ,
8:57
burst timothy 01:18. Try to get my clicker to work.
9:05
Just died on me. There we go.
9:11
First timothy 01:18 that by them, you may
9:13
wage the good warfare, holding faith and a good what?
9:19
Conscience. So we understand we have a fight and
9:23
it's a battle for our minds,
9:28
So how do we fight the battle in our minds? How how do we do this?
9:32
Well, we renew our minds? I mean, that this is what God has
9:36
called us to do. So what does it mean
9:39
to renew your mind? Well, here's a definition
9:42
of renewing your mind. The removal of evil
9:45
inputs and replacing them with the light of God's
9:49
truth and by doing so
9:52
healing your brain of untrue neural pathways
9:56
that have been built over time through consistent
10:00
reflection and thought. This is how you renew your mind. This
10:04
is what renewing the mine means. Now, renewing
10:08
the mind is a 3 step process. So I wanna walk you through this. So
10:14
first thing you gotta do is you gotta take away
10:18
these these thoughts that you don't need to be thinking. The
10:22
world's input coming into your mind and that...
10:25
In a devil, I mean, you know, he makes sure that there's a regular supply of
10:28
that to us all day long. You know, that's
10:31
the 1 thing we never run out of. Then you have to replace it
10:35
with God's truth, Okay. What does God say
10:39
about you? What does god say about that
10:43
situation? What does god's say about your kid?
10:46
What does God say about your mate? What does God say about you?
10:51
Then you have to continually reinforce that truth
10:55
that God says. It's a it's a daily occurrence where you
10:59
continually reinforce that. So renewing your mind is not a
11:04
destination. It's a journey. Really good. It's something
11:08
we do all day long every day.
11:11
Romans 12 2 do not be conform to
11:13
this world, but be what,
11:16
be transformed by the
11:20
renewing of your mind. So once again, I won't take you back.
11:25
That initial encounter with Jesus I mean, it's everything.
11:29
It has to happen because in that moment,
11:34
your spirit has made alive again
11:36
You're born again, literally. And now you have the mind of Christ,
11:43
you have the heart of Christ
11:45
and now you have the capability to begin to think the thoughts of Christ.
11:52
And that's when your life begins to change
11:54
and take off. Now, all of this is tying into
11:59
generational curse that get passed down in our family line
12:04
from generation to generation
12:06
to generation. Now the bible says don't be
12:09
conform to this world. Now,
12:14
the bible says this. And that's not
12:18
that's not a negative. That's a positive.
12:22
Because if you're not conform to this world, then you can have the God kind of
12:25
life that we're talking about this year that God wants all of us to experience.
12:29
The blessed life, the good life. K? So
12:34
do this exercise with me. If if I
12:36
ask, your friends or your family to describe
12:39
you to me. What would they say about you?
12:47
Now I know what you think about you, but I'm talking about what what your friends
12:51
and family. Would say about you. Does your life look
12:55
more like the world or more like Jesus?
13:00
I get it. You're Kristen, you know, you you come to church, But does your life
13:04
look more like the world?
13:07
Or more like Jesus. Do do you feel
13:09
more of your time with the things of the world
13:13
or the things of God? Do you find yourself thinking like the world?
13:17
Do you think like the crowd? Are you thinking like culture?
13:23
Or are you thinking like the red letters?
13:26
Like we've been talking about in our mid week services as we're going over the red
13:30
letters of Jesus? Do you think of yourself like the enemy
13:33
wants you to? Do you... Or do you see yourself like God sees you beloved,
13:38
redeemed? Adopted,
13:41
anointed. See Satan pro around like a roaring lion
13:47
Help me finish it, looking for who he
13:50
can devour. The devil's goal is to get us thinking
13:56
wrong thoughts about our life. As a christian,
14:01
I hate my life. I hate my life.
14:07
Nothing good ever happens to me. I I'll never see my dreams
14:12
come true. Oh, yeah. Their dreams came true, but you know, that... That's because, you know,
14:16
their their family and what they were born into. And that... But that'll never happen.
14:20
That'll never happen for me. See we think wrong thoughts about ourselves. I
14:24
used to do this. Nobody cares about me. If I died, nobody missed me.
14:30
My life's is not important. My life didn't have any value. I would think those thoughts.
14:35
You know, you may think I'm not good looking enough. I'm not smart enough.
14:40
I'm not I'm not handsome enough. Pretty enough. I'm not this. I'm
14:44
not that. I'm a lost calls. You the devil will get... You try to
14:48
get you thinking wrong thoughts about your marriage,
14:52
about your children, about your future,
14:56
And this is why we must renew
14:59
our minds. The bible makes it clear that
15:02
we are to be trans formed not to
15:06
form. To be transformed.
15:10
So your life will look completely different when you begin to renew your mind.
15:16
So we're not waiting for our circumstances to
15:18
change. I don't... Lot lot of times you can't do anything
15:22
about your circumstances. But you can do everything about how you
15:26
perceive your circumstances, how you look at your circumstances.
15:31
And this is just stuff that that god has taught me over time, but your life's
15:35
gonna look different when you renew your mind. It'll look to other people as if you
15:40
have transformed into a totally different person.
15:44
Right. People don't recognize you. You run into people
15:49
that you hadn't seen for a while after you've been a Christian and they're like,
15:53
whoa. Wow. What what happened?
15:59
Cl 03:10 and having put on the new
16:01
self. Which is being renewed
16:04
by the knowledge after the image of its creator.
16:10
So how do we change by renewing our mind.
16:13
This is what we're doing. We're renewing our
16:15
mind. Don't be conform. Be transformed
16:19
by renewing your
16:22
mind. Now, I wanna talk to you a little bit
16:28
about how your brain works. This this is some interesting
16:32
stuff that they've had come out I mean, your brain
16:38
it... It's an engineering marvel, literally. It really
16:41
is. Your brain is so complex.
16:46
Now we've got some pretty awesome computers. They
16:48
can do some really awesome things, but but
16:51
your brain is composed of over 100000000000
16:56
neurons. K? Now, when when you think about that, that...
17:00
That's how many... That's how many stars that there are in
17:04
the in the Milky way galaxy. This thing is really
17:08
about to make me mad. Submit.
17:17
Now I want you to think about this. Each neuron
17:22
in your brain. And you've got a hundred billion of
17:25
those. Okay? But each neuron in your brain
17:30
has upwards of 10000
17:33
s connections with other neurons.
17:38
I man, that's a hard number to even fathom them. So you do the math. A
17:41
hundred billion times, 10000.
17:45
That means there are more neurological connections in your brain
17:50
then there are stars in the entire universe.
17:55
That's how complex our brains are. Fearful and
18:01
wonderfully made. That's what the bible says.
18:06
So every day, all day,
18:11
you have these neurological
18:15
s connections, firing in your brain in reaction to what's
18:21
happening in your life in your environment.
18:24
The words you say, the actions that you take,
18:29
the thoughts you have, the decisions that you make,
18:33
And as your brain is doing this, what your brain does is it starts to
18:37
notice a pattern of thought.
18:42
And so your brain just because God made it. So incredibly awesome.
18:47
What your brain does is your brain starts
18:49
to build a pathway And your brain makes it easier for you
18:54
to think that thought or do that thing. Like tie your shoe for an example.
18:59
We don't have to get up every morning and think about that. Arch glad.
19:03
Your brain made all those connections for you.
19:07
If... Let let's just say, for example, If you were to walk a pathway in your
19:11
yard. K, every day for a hundred days.
19:15
And you went from point a to point b at the end of that hundred days,
19:20
that pathway would be clear. Because it would be worn down.
19:25
It would be flat, and it would make it easier for you
19:30
to walk that path. It would be noticeably familiar. Right?
19:34
To you because you've gone that way over and over and over again, it would get
19:38
easier over time. Same with our thoughts. When we dwell on
19:41
a thought consecutively for days,
19:46
for weeks, for months, or even years, it becomes a pathway in
19:51
your brain that gets strengthened and made familiar and easier
19:56
for you to think. And if that thought is about yourself,
20:00
after a while, it'll move from being a belief in your
20:05
brain to being in
20:08
a reality in your heart. Now, this is god's way of changing us
20:16
but this is also the devil's way
20:19
of destroying us. And we gotta understand this. This is this
20:23
is good news and it's bad news. If you think a
20:27
lie about yourself long enough,
20:31
you'll start to believe it. You'll start acting on it.
20:38
I've watched people. Nobody wants to be around me.
20:41
Nobody likes me. After a while,
20:45
it changes even how they carry themselves and
20:48
present themselves. They'll look down.
20:52
They'll isolate. They won't get around people. They won't engage
20:56
in conversation that always stand on the outside
21:00
of a crowd when people are talking
21:02
because they see themselves the wrong way.
21:08
But then there's those people who they think
21:10
they're the best thing in the whole world? Why ain't everybody wanna be around me? I
21:13
mean, that's what I think. I'm awesome. Why wouldn't anybody like me? Everybody ought like me.
21:17
That's what Mom said, who couldn't like you. And so you just... You don't think anything
21:24
about it. In the middle of everything and talking to people and do... Or y'all y'all
21:27
all understand what What I'm saying here? See if you use... You're think about god's
21:32
truth over your life long enough,
21:36
you'll start to believe it. And this is renewing the mine. This is
21:41
what it's all about. Proverbs 23 7 as
21:43
a man thinks in his heart help me
21:45
finish it, so is he? The life we live is a reflection of
21:51
the thoughts we have. I'm gonna say that again, the life we
21:55
live is a reflection of the thoughts we have. Your life is
21:59
always going to move in the direction of
22:02
your thoughts. If I think our lead pastor doesn't like
22:05
me, I'm not going to hang around him. But if I think Tim loves me
22:11
then I'm going connect to myself with him.
22:16
Now let's take that to god. That's even more powerful there.
22:23
See zig zig, he said,
22:26
he said, thank you.
22:32
You are who you are and where you are because of what's gone on in your
22:37
mind? What's going into your mind? And you
22:40
can change who you are and where you are by changing
22:44
what goes into your mind. Now understand,
22:50
God saved you. Jesus came into your life.
22:53
He gave you a new heart, but it's your responsibility
22:57
to renew your mind. So your environment,
23:02
it affects how you think It affects how you react. It affects how
23:07
you respond. Let me give you an example. And and
23:10
vice versa, your mind and your thoughts affect your environment.
23:16
So for example, if if your house your
23:19
closet, your room, your car is messy.
23:23
It's because your mind is messy. Your mind is disorganized.
23:29
If if your mind is disorganized,
23:33
then guess what? The rest of your life is going to
23:36
be. So a messy mind,
23:41
makes a messy life, a messy mind makes a stressful life
23:47
No doubt, clean up your mind,
23:51
clean up your environment, clean up your environment,
23:55
clean up your life. That's why I don't hang out with lost
23:58
people anymore. They're... They got messy lives.
24:07
If I hang out with them long enough, my life's gonna be messy.
24:13
Now, why did I quit hanging out with him? Well, first, I got born again, then
24:17
I begin to input the word into my life? The word begin to clean me. I
24:20
don't have that desire anymore. That's just not what I wanna do.
24:25
So you you gotta understand Satan's tactics.
24:29
K? Satan's tactics.
24:34
Yeah, maybe I can just take over... Can y'all take over this Natalie? I love you.
24:40
Because this thing's not working right. So the devil's goal
24:46
is to get you to believe a lie about yourself.
24:49
So he can pull you away from god
24:52
and pull you away from God's people.
24:55
Now depending on the severity, and the importance of the event that happens
25:00
to us will determine how much neurological
25:05
reaction our brain devote to it.
25:08
The more traumatic, the event in your life
25:11
that happens, the more it affects our brain
25:14
k? The more pleasurable an event
25:19
that happens. The more it affects our brain,
25:23
and our... And and it's easier for our
25:25
brain to build pathways in these moments.
25:29
This is why people get addicted to stuff. Because it it it stimulates their pleasure centers.
25:35
In journal and junkie and you get addicted
25:38
to non prescription medication because, you know,
25:41
it stimulates that pleasure whatever it may be.
25:44
It could be anything. Now now, Satan
25:49
knows this So what he will do is is he
25:54
will insert a lie in a moment of trauma.
26:01
He'll take a trauma moment in your life,
26:04
and he's just he's just waiting for that
26:06
opportunity And in that moment, he's gonna assert
26:09
alive because he knows that your brain attaches
26:11
to something in a moment of trauma. I've watched people leave church in a moment
26:17
of trauma. I've watched people turn their back on god in a moment of trauma.
26:21
See your thoughts. Get more attention in trauma, so Satan is
26:27
gonna hit you right at that moment and plan a lie there.
26:30
That's his goal. Because he's a receiver and
26:32
he doesn't play fair. Yeah yesterday
26:39
was, my
26:43
wife and us sons 20 ninth birthday.
26:48
Now we lost Clark when he was 20.
26:53
So we went out to the grave side yesterday,
26:56
and we put flowers on his grave side,
27:00
and Spent time out there just
27:05
reflecting on all of the
27:08
great moments. That I was thinking about just
27:12
tree houses and jumping on the tram
27:15
and my my my boys, I know. They had
27:18
this weird thing. Have you y'all ever liked done in a w to somebody?
27:23
You ever got a wed? They're not pleasant.
27:28
But for some reason, my boys loved it. And I would pretend I was
27:33
in the wrestling arena,
27:37
and I... They they would say dad. Do the atomic wed.
27:40
And I would do the it was like the real bad wed.
27:43
And the 1 on the bed and Was
27:46
I was remembering all of these moments and... But but I remember
27:49
back when we lost him and how traumatic and
27:55
hurtful and difficult and dark
27:59
that that was for us. And and I remember in that first
28:05
week when we lost him,
28:08
there were so many tears just all all
28:11
the time. Every day all day long all the time.
28:15
And I remember being very
28:21
in tune with my emotions
28:24
and my thoughts because I've been a believer for a while.
28:27
And I know the word. And I know my enemy.
28:30
Yes. I knew what he would try to do.
28:34
And I had a conversation with God I said, God,
28:38
I said, I am asking you.
28:42
And I am partnering with you. I'm determined
28:44
that I am not going to allow this moment
28:50
to pull me away from you
28:52
or to cause bitterness are un unnatural questions to rule my life.
28:59
But what I am going to do fathers is I'm gonna allow this
29:03
traumatic event in my life, this moment of
29:05
trauma in my life to draw me deeper
29:09
into my relationship with you. To draw me closer
29:13
to you. And I said, god, I need your help to help me beat that kind
29:17
of husband father leader in my family.
29:21
So that I can lead my family in that direction.
29:27
So here's... That's what the devil does. He
29:29
he This is why people fall away
29:33
This is why people d or dis
29:37
or whatever you wanna call it, they're that there's a moment, and they they they
29:42
get... What the devil does is he wants us to confuse God and life.
29:46
Life unfair, god fair, but we get it
29:49
all mixed up. And so this is how the devil does
29:54
it. So how do how do we combat
29:56
this? How do we combat this.
29:59
So here's everybody's assignment for this week? K?
30:02
I'm gonna give you an assignment. You're out of school, but you're still gonna get a
30:05
homework assignment. So I want you to identify the lies
30:10
that it becomes strongholds in your life
30:15
because you can't defeat what you can't define.
30:19
True? Yeah. I mean, if you don't define
30:22
what it is, it low self esteem, anger.
30:26
I don't I don't know what it may be. Insecurity,
30:31
depression, anxiety, of victim mentality, you gotta identify the lives
30:36
that it become strongholds in your life. So And then you've got to replace that lie
30:42
with a truth from God's word. So I want you to write out
30:47
get in the scripture and write out God's
30:51
promise the from the Lord, make it personal to
30:55
you. K? And I want you to say that daily.
30:59
I want you to speak it over yourself. Literally speak it over yourself.
31:06
This is how transformation occurs. This how transformation occurred In my life this
31:11
how transformation occurred. And Eric's life this how transformation occurred
31:15
in all of our lives. Now,
31:19
let me give you an example. Just so you'll
31:22
kinda understand my point. So here's the lie.
31:26
I'll never be good enough. I will never be good enough.
31:30
Well, the truth is there's no amount of
31:33
work that you can do to earn God's
31:35
love. It is a free gift. Ephesians 2 8 says, here's the promise.
31:41
For by grace you have been saved through faith,
31:44
it is not your own doing. It is
31:46
a gift from God.
31:49
So Jesus is the only person that makes you good enough.
31:53
And you are good enough. If you have Jesus in your heart,
31:57
you're more than good enough. Yours as good as he is.
32:01
Here's another lie. I don't feel valuable
32:05
Nobody cares about me. Well, here's the truth. Psalm 01:39
32:10
verse 13 and 14 says you created me
32:13
in my being, you knit me together in
32:16
my mother's womb, I will praise you because
32:18
I am fearful and wonderfully made.
32:22
Now isn't had a better thing to think. Here's a lie. No 1 will ever love
32:27
me. Nobody will ever love me. Well, the truth
32:31
is God loved you first. God loved me even when I wouldn't even...
32:39
I might be a little bit lovable now. I don't know You have to ask my
32:41
wife. It depends on what day it is. But I wouldn't lovable at all.
32:46
But god picked me first. First John 4 8 In this, the love
32:52
of God was made manifest among us that
32:54
God sent his only son into the world
32:57
so that we might live through him.
33:01
In this is love, not that we have loved God, but he
33:06
he loved us and he sent his son to be a
33:09
prop appropriation for our sins.
33:15
So you gotta understand there will always be
33:17
a truth from God to replace a lie
33:20
from Satan. And that's what you wanna do.
33:24
This is how you renew your mind. This
33:27
is how you break generational curse.
33:31
God, in his truth
33:34
breaks them. K? So
33:37
how? Alright? Well, scientifically
33:42
this can be proven and scientists are learning
33:44
more and more and more. There's been some really amazing breakthroughs and some
33:49
really awesome studies that if that have come
33:51
out lately just in the past 20 years.
33:55
1 of them is called epi genetics. It's a new study,
33:59
A lot of scientists have been pursuing this. I want y'all to watch this video with
34:03
me. I think you're gonna be really, really
34:05
wild by this. What science has now learned and is so
34:11
fascinating is that the choices we make in
34:14
life will alter how our genes are breast.
34:16
This is big. People need to really pay sit out and pay attention to this.
34:20
Because science is now confirming scripture and in that I do I often
34:24
asked the audience, which is more scientifically accurate. The Bible for Charles Darwin. Well, guess what?
34:29
It's the Bible. Darwin hypo
34:31
that it was mutation over millions of years
34:34
that caused his finishes to have different beak. Science has actually now proved. It's epi
34:39
modification. Epi,
34:46
the instruction sitting above the genome telling the
34:48
genes how to express themselves, which changed based on experience.
34:56
What we go through in life, the food that we eat. The choices we make. The
35:00
environment in which we live will actually alter
35:03
the genes in and telling which genes to
35:05
turn on in which genes to turn off. Now the way this happens is little chemical
35:09
groups will actually attach to the Dna or to
35:12
chemicals called his and the Dna ras surround
35:14
the his stones and we'll either lock those d dos genes down or let those genes
35:18
be expressed. And this this epi
35:21
modification will alter than what happens in that
35:24
particular cell. What we know about genetics and
35:27
addiction is that behaviors
35:30
sensations, input into the brain
35:34
will use the Dna to change how the cell response,
35:39
And basically, what happens is that genes are
35:41
turned off or turned on based on what that response is is. While
35:46
the Dna doesn't change the expression does.
35:49
So the ability to be aware of environment,
35:53
the ability to respond is may be genetically
35:56
coded, but when we begin changing it, the term
36:00
we use epi. When we change how that's expressed. We change
36:04
the enzymes that are made, We change the
36:06
response of the cell, and that change,
36:11
becomes a part of the genetic expression. If
36:13
we have kids, we know only give the sequence to our kids, we will pass along
36:18
the chin 2 and 3 generations down, and so
36:21
if we become addicted to stuff, we can
36:23
pass along to our kids gene constellation that
36:25
make them more vulnerable to addictions. Conversely, if we could victories over stuff.
36:30
We can actually pass on advantages, there's good
36:32
animal evidence that that change in expression can be transmitted
36:37
to the offspring. Those enzymes, those mechanisms, those genes that are
36:42
turned off, may also be turned off
36:45
in the next generation. It's definitely possible to
36:48
pass down the vulnerability to addiction
36:51
because all of those defenses, all of those
36:54
generations of changes become woven into our ongoing g expression. They
36:58
just study in mice in which they, genetically bread these mice with a gene defects
37:03
so the mice would actually have memory impairments. They bred them to be stupid. And then
37:07
they took the mice and they took a... And they put them into do groups and
37:09
1 group for 2 weeks during they adolescent
37:11
of a mouse, they they got an enriched environment. With lots of toys and
37:16
things to climb on and so forth like this. Now not surprisingly, those mice who had
37:20
the enriched environment had better memory than the
37:22
clone identical mice it didn't have the rich environment? That's not surprising.
37:26
But how do they get the better memory. They got the better memory because that enriched
37:30
environment with lots of things to explore and and and go through, caused an epi
37:35
modification of this bad gene, cause memory problems
37:37
such that that bad gene got turned off. Now here's where it's really interesting.
37:41
Those mice that had the enriched environment had
37:43
better memory were then allowed to have pups and those pops had the gene defect, but
37:48
had the epidemic modifications such that the gene
37:51
was shut off and they had good memory even though they had bad jeans.
37:54
So we can pass along both positive things
37:57
in our life and or negative depending on
37:59
the choices we make in life. And so the bible is actually more scientifically accurate. Than
38:04
Charles Darwin because we do pass down to
38:06
our children, our grandchildren are our great and grandchildren. The experiences that we go through in
38:10
life. Based on the epi modifications, they will get not only our genes,
38:14
but the instructions on how those genes are expressed. Many adolescents will say things like Hey,
38:19
It's my body. I can do what I want. Only if you're never gonna have kids.
38:23
If you're gonna have kids it's smell only your body, it's your kids, your grandkids and
38:26
your great grandkids body too so be careful what you do with it. Not interesting.
38:32
So so epi is the process by which
38:34
we passed gene expression instructions.
38:38
To our kids, You know, we're gonna have tendencies that we passed down and draw certain
38:43
things because of our jeans. You know, your parents passed their genes
38:47
to you, and a lot of what you
38:49
are is an expression of what your parents, worse.
38:52
So they they can pass on good genes or they can pass on bad genes, but
38:57
those genes get passed on. For example, if if... If alcoholism runs in
39:01
your family, like, it did in mind. K? I'll all through my family. It's because somewhere
39:06
up the line in your family trees, someone
39:09
became an alcoholic wired their brain
39:12
to struggle with that addiction. And then what half was they passed that
39:17
on to their kids and now their kids struggle,
39:20
and that happens through the process of what
39:23
we call. And epi. The bible calls these
39:27
generational curse. That's what the bible defines them as.
39:32
Now, you can change the gene expression in
39:35
yourself through epi genetics, and you can change the instructions that your
39:40
genes get that you will pass on your
39:43
kids, how, by renewing
39:46
your mind, through the word.
39:50
So you you you... What you do is
39:52
is you help repair old broken pathways
39:56
made from habit patterns made from lies in your upbringing. You know,
40:01
for example, you know, I grew up in a very messed up dysfunctional family,
40:06
You know, my dad... My dad... I don't wanna make my dad until, like, a villain
40:10
because my dad did do some good things.
40:13
He was a good father in many ways, but there were a lot of ways my
40:16
dad was very destructive. 1 of the ways my dad was very destructive
40:19
was through the verbal and the physical abuse
40:22
that he did in my life. There And
40:24
so because of that, I I had
40:27
all of these wrong thoughts about myself. Now,
40:30
if I don't. Reverse all of that thinking that can be
40:34
passed on, and we can just watch it in families.
40:37
You see a father who walks in a lot of
40:40
anger. Don't be surprised if the son walk
40:42
or a father that walks in a lot of insecurity. Don't be surprised if the child
40:46
does it. Mean, we we see these expressions
40:49
passed on. So by healing no broken pathways
40:53
made by the lives of devil. Replacing them with new healthier
40:57
pathways, which is the truth of God's word, then
41:00
we can literally reverse this process.
41:03
So for you to walk in all that God has for you, and
41:09
that's obviously what we want. You have to
41:11
renew your mind. And it's a daily process.
41:15
Here's what I wanna encourage you in church, and And I'm wrapping up.
41:19
Don't get stuck behind the door that god's
41:21
opened. Wow.
41:28
Don't get stuck behind the door that God's opened.
41:33
This year, we're exposing the lies. We're talking
41:36
about living in the kingdom. We're talking about
41:38
living the God kind of life the Zoo.
41:41
Kind of life. I I wanna end with this. Training your
41:46
mind is like training your body, It's it's it's not just about what you
41:50
do with it, but it's what you put into it over a long period of time.
41:57
You you you guys have heard us tease, you know, 10,
42:00
when I first came to work here, he had a
42:04
serious honey addiction.
42:07
And with that white glaze. Y'all all heard him talk about it.
42:12
We every day, we would He, hey, Hey. I
42:15
need you to come with me. And we would go down to the gas
42:19
station, and we get a honey bun with that white
42:23
glaze in a mountain dew. Yeah.
42:30
Well, he influenced me. In the wrong direction,
42:35
and I thought, well, Tim getting 1 when I gotta get 1 too,
42:39
now we're both diabetic. That's probably not the only reason.
42:49
But it's... You know what I'm saying is like, what you put in over a long period
42:55
of time. What you dwell on, what you
42:57
think on over a long period of time,
43:00
is gonna have its effect. Now, the left side of your brain thinks reason,
43:05
it thinks logic, it thinks images, it thinks numbers.
43:10
The right side of your brain is emotion. And this is where a lot of the
43:15
renewing has to take place. Because this is this is where we get
43:20
access to our Limbic system, and this is where we have to get God's word
43:24
rooted in our brains. So 1 of the things that you can
43:28
do is make God's promises personal to you.
43:34
K? So you just you just really emphasize
43:39
yourself in that promise. Let me let me
43:41
give you this example. When you pray, you pray the scripture,
43:46
and you put your name or you put
43:49
yourself, in that place. For example, the lord has
43:53
not given me the spirit of affair by say me.
43:57
The not given me the spirit of fear,
44:02
but of power, love and a sound mine.
44:05
Here's another 1. I like Joshua 1 9,
44:08
blessed m I, everybody say, I.
44:12
And this this is in the proverbs. Blessed am I because I walked not in
44:17
the couch of the wicked or standard the way of sinner or sit in the sea
44:20
of golfers, but my delight is in the
44:23
law of Lord in the law of the Lord. And on his law, I
44:27
meditate day and night. Does that make sense? Lord
44:31
I will be strong and courageous.
44:35
The lord is with me wherever I go.
44:39
So you gotta make it personal to
44:42
you. So I wanna close with this verse. C32.
44:48
Set your minds on the things above,
44:51
not on the things thereof of this earth.
44:56
Your focus determines your reality.
45:02
That bottom line. Your focus determines your reality.
45:07
So as we renew our minds, we think thoughts about ourself. We think thoughts
45:12
about God, We think thoughts about our children
45:14
about our mates about our life about our world,
45:17
about our creator. Then everything
45:22
begins to change and life
45:25
begins to take on a completely new meaning. We all stand with
45:29
me this morning. Amen. Let's give God a hand clap.
45:39
Now I I wanna take just a moment if you'll bow your head.
45:43
If you don't know Jesus.
45:48
He wants to know you. Jesus wants to connect with you.
45:53
And And I can... Promise you, it is
45:56
the best decision that you could ever make
45:58
in your whole life. And and you may
46:00
be here today, and maybe you've been in church for a very long time. Promise
46:04
but you've never asked Jesus to come into your heart, really,
46:10
come your heart and be your lord, be
46:12
your master, to be the leader of your life.
46:17
I wanna make a moment for you
46:20
to be able right here right now, there's not a better
46:23
day that you could do it. And right in this moment.
46:27
God loves you. He sent his son to die for you
46:31
to resurrect for you to give you a new life.
46:36
And if that's you, and you're in this room, I just want you. To ask
46:40
Jesus to be the Lord of your life.
46:44
For your life to take on new. Everything, every thought you
46:48
think, every decision that you make everything that
46:50
you do you will do in light of
46:53
him leading your life.
46:57
And what happens is Jesus comes and he
46:59
he tab in you. He lives inside of
47:02
your heart. And he changes your heart. He changes your
47:06
life, Your desires change, your motivations change.
47:10
Your impulses change. Your passions change. Everything changes when Jesus comes
47:15
into your heart. And I just don't want anybody leaving here
47:18
without giving you an opportunity, to ask Jesus to come into your heart.
47:23
And as a result of that, your life, your life can now
47:27
take on a completely new meaning.
47:30
And then you need to get an a bible believer in church man, you need to
47:33
be in the world. You need to surround yourself with people that love Jesus.
47:38
And I promise you you'll you'll never regret
47:42
that decision. It's the best decision of your
47:45
life. The rest of us who have already asked jesus to be the Lord
47:48
of our life. I wanna encourage you. Don't get lazy in your relationship with Jesus.
47:55
And don't get lazy and reading your word and renewing your mind. Keep god's word first
48:00
and foremost in front of you. The bible
48:02
says meditate on it day and night. Because that's the way we influence our genome.
48:08
That's the way we break generational curse. We don't wanna pass
48:12
any of that stuff down to our kids especially you young parents or you you
48:17
couples that are married, You don't have children yet. And this is very important.
48:26
Very important. God, we love you.
48:32
We praise you. We honor you. You're so good to us, Lord.
48:37
God go for us this week. And help our minds be on you. In
48:42
Jesus name, amen. God bless you and your dismissed.
