Thank you for listening to our mid week service from Christian Church. We're praying that this

0:08

message bless encourages and equip you to build

0:11

the kingdom of God. And now a message

0:13

from pastor Tim Brooks. All of our band and all of that's

0:18

getting set up, Lucas gonna go lead worship.

0:21

High points getting ready to Crank Worship. The

0:23

band's already up their sound check and getting ready and He's gotta run to lead worship.

0:28

I'm telling you High point is just going fantastic.

0:31

It is really, really good. And

0:34

I'm Till Luke for the first time he's working a little bit around here.

0:39

Well, you turned to Matthew chapter 11 verse

0:42

4 we're taking the red letters in

0:46

scripture, and we are looking at them

0:49

1 bike at a time. We wanna look at Matthew chapter 11 verse

0:54

4. We're gonna make it to chapter 12

0:57

verse 50, just picking up where I left off last

1:01

week, and we continue to move forward working

1:03

our way through the book of Matthew seeing

1:07

the red letter seeing Jesus words in the

1:10

new testament. As we begin here where we left off

1:14

last week, John the Baptist had been put in prison.

1:18

And he sends his disciples. This very interesting.

1:22

Here's John the Baptist now. Go

1:26

ask Jesus, are you the messiah

1:29

that we've been looking for or should we keep looking for someone else?

1:34

Wow. Now think about

1:38

who John the baptist was. Let let's think

1:40

about this. Remember, he was out ba advertising.

1:44

Jesus comes walking down to the water.

1:47

John turns around, looks

1:50

behold the lamb of God who takes away

1:53

the sins of the world. Do y'all remember that part? I mean, that's... This is this

1:57

guy. Remember John, I'm not worthy to un the

2:01

latches on your sandals. The this is the guy that's said

2:06

I need to be baptized by you. The...

2:09

This is the guy that says I must

2:11

decrease. He must increase on and on and

2:14

on, we read what John said. And now,

2:21

John saying are you the messiah? Or do we keep looking?

2:24

What in the world happened?

2:28

What? Well, what happened?

2:32

Now Jesus says here in verse 4.

2:36

Hey, go because the Go back and tell

2:38

John. Tell him what you've heard, tell him what

2:41

you've seen, blind or seeing, lane walk, le, clan, deaf

2:47

here. Dead raised, good news

2:50

being preached. And,

2:53

hey, guys, tell John,

2:58

God bless those who are not offended.

3:02

Wow. Wow. Now, we we need to talk a little

3:07

bit here. Jesus is addressing

3:11

a humongous weapon

3:14

in the devil's hand. In the devil's arsenal

3:18

offense is a huge weapon.

3:22

And we see it all the time. We see it all the time. People in

3:28

church and serving are giving. You see it

3:31

all the time, people at work, people in

3:33

school. We're around this all limit. Here, pastor you the greatest bible teacher in

3:38

the whole world. This is the greatest church

3:41

ever. Well, what? What where where'd they go? What have something

3:46

happened somewhere, sometime,

3:50

somebody said something and they took on an offense.

3:56

Mad hurt and here we go. Seriously,

4:01

the offense is a powerful

4:04

weapon in Satan's Arsenal.

4:07

We talk quite a bit about that in this church because it has to be talked

4:11

about a lot it plagues us all of

4:14

us. People quit their job. People quit school,

4:18

people quit churches, People leave good friendships,

4:23

many people leave the Lord

4:27

because of offenses. I don't know how many people

4:31

in my life I have talked to that

4:34

said. A, I was raised in church

4:38

35 years ago, some preacher

4:41

or somebody. 40 years ago, something happened, and I hadn't

4:46

been back to church. Sense. Whoa.

4:51

Whoa, Jesus says,

4:54

and, boy, what a teaching right here? Blessed

4:58

are you? You will be blessed

5:01

if you can keep yourself

5:04

out of an offense. The problem is just so many people

5:10

don't. They let offense destroy them.

5:13

They let an offense destroy all that they've experienced.

5:18

They let an offense destroy all that they

5:21

know. And they let an offense start making

5:27

decisions for their life. And we see it. We see it.

5:32

And there's just no way that we can talk about offense enough

5:36

because it is very powerful

5:39

in derail Christians. We see a you Christians occasionally get sucked

5:44

back into this, sucked off into that or,

5:47

what happened to them oh him? They just went out and robbed the bank last night.

5:51

But I don't hear that a lot. But when I say what happened to them,

5:55

I do hear, they got offended. They got offended. And I'm just telling you

6:00

church, we're gonna have to watch

6:03

over our feelings. We're going to have to watch over our

6:10

feelings, control. You you gotta get some control

6:15

over your feelings, and we're gonna have to deal with that

6:19

hurt. That that... Whatever it was and it, it

6:22

legitimately made you mad. I get it. You

6:24

got mad. But we're gonna have to learn how to

6:29

identify and control it. Yes. That got to me.

6:34

That we all know what that is. That

6:36

that got to me, it got to me

6:39

deeply. But I'm gonna have to analyze that.

6:42

That person is a good person.

6:44

That person's been good to me for years.

6:47

That person is not out to crush me.

6:50

That person's not out to do me in.

6:53

Evidently, they had a bad day. And you know,

6:56

I've had some bad days myself. Evidently, maybe they were going through some personal

7:01

issue, and I probably need to pray for

7:03

them. What they said, yeah, yeah. I got it.

7:07

What they said was horrible, but I gotta know that's not what they

7:11

meant. I've got to know that's not what they

7:14

went. Now now, I wanna be clear. I wanna be clear about 2 things here

7:18

because I gotta move on this a sermon on fence. This is the first thing he

7:22

talks about. We gotta move on. Let's be clear.

7:25

What happened to you was

7:29

absolutely nothing. You misread the whole thing.

7:34

That's not even close to what they said.

7:37

That's not even close to what happened.

7:40

You wear your feelings on your shoulder.

7:43

You've got your feelings on your sleeve, and

7:46

you're gonna have to come on and stop going through life. Being offended, being offended, being

7:51

every time we turn around. You got offended. You got offended. You're gonna have to get

7:55

control of this. You're always offended by something.

7:58

And what you're offended out is of no

8:00

validity whatsoever, you conjure all that up in your head,

8:03

and you're gonna have to get a hold of that. Okay? Let's go over here and say this.

8:09

What happened to you was absolutely wrong.

8:14

It and I get it, europe ended. They

8:16

should have never said that. That was horrible

8:20

what happened to you. You don't wear your

8:23

feelings on your sleeve, that cut in that

8:25

cut deep, and that was wrong. You were

8:28

wrong. Okay. You can misread it and and and

8:33

be completely off track or

8:35

what happened was exactly what happened

8:39

and and you were done wrong. It's dead wrong.

8:43

Both cases, we're gonna have to control our feelings.

8:48

Both cases. Now, I'm gonna tell some of you, you

8:52

gonna stop wearing your feelings on your sleeve and mis misread everything that was said. In

8:57

taking it personal. We wasn't even talking about

9:00

you. Okay? Let me say that. Now, let me

9:03

also say, some of you been really hurt deep.

9:07

I mean cut to the bone. And what

9:09

happened to you was just... It was terrible.

9:12

It was wrong, should've have never happened.

9:14

But in both of those cases, you're not gonna be blessed living life

9:20

offended. That's the bottom line. Whether it is right

9:24

or whether it's wrong, you can't be blessed, living life offended.

9:30

That's why I'm telling you watch over your

9:33

feelings, watch over your feelings.

9:36

This 1 person, This 1 thing, this 1 thing that was

9:41

said, this 1 thing, it was a huge

9:43

wrong that happened, but it's not going to cause me

9:47

to derail my life. I I can't live like that.

9:52

I can't live my whole life, taking another turn I'll lead the church. I

9:57

walk away from God to heck with everybody.

10:00

And now my life is held bound

10:02

because of what somebody else said. Come on.

10:05

We're gonna have to grow and mature past

10:07

that and get ourselves to a place where

10:09

we can control our feelings. And not let offenses, whether you're justified in

10:14

your offense or not, we're gonna have to

10:16

get this controlled. We're gonna have to watch

10:20

over our feelings at work, watch over your

10:23

feelings. You got a good job. You got a good job.

10:27

You're you're being taken care of there. Now,

10:30

your boss had a bad day. Your coworker

10:32

had a bad day come on. Let's work

10:34

through it. Let's get over and let's move

10:36

on. You don't jump up and quit

10:40

a job because you got

10:43

offended. Come on Let's keep our nose to the grinds stone. Let's keep working through life

10:48

and dealing with these offenses Now I'm just telling you offense is real.

10:54

Whether it's justified or whether it's not justified.

10:58

It's real. Watch over our feelings, watch over our feelings.

11:02

And here's what I gotta move on.

11:06

If this happened to John the baptist, it can sure happen to me.

11:10

It can sure happen to me. I'm gonna have to pay attention. Jesus goes on,

11:15

in verse 12, The kingdom of heaven is

11:18

advancing and violent people are attacking it.

11:23

Pagans all what pagans

11:27

attack, Christianity.

11:30

They always have. They always will. They hate the things of

11:35

God and they are on the attack. What

11:38

what possibly Can a person in Washington Dc C

11:43

care 1 Eye owed about somebody in rural

11:49

Arkansas praying over a little country football game.

11:53

Really? I mean, really, that's something that you've got

11:57

to send a threatening letter all the way

11:59

down to Arkansas to a public school principal

12:03

and threaten it, you may be jail time.

12:05

You may be fine. You may really?

12:08

What, what possible? There's an attack on anything,

12:11

Christian. It just is. It just is. There always

12:15

has been violent attack on the things of God.

12:20

And and it's amazing to me, and I

12:23

I go here to the forbidden city and

12:26

go into eat lunch, and I have to process this every time I walk in, the

12:30

statue of Buddha sitting right there in the lobby.

12:33

And here's what gets me. There's not been

12:36

1 letter from Washington Dc. You may be fined.

12:39

You may be jailed. If you don't remove

12:41

that statue that is offended somebody.

12:45

There is somebody there that is offended. By

12:47

that has never ever happened to a statue

12:50

of a buddha. But boy, you put a cross up. You put the 10 commandments up

12:55

in a place where people have to walk by. And, man, I'm telling you here it

12:59

goes. Here it goes. It it's shocking that

13:02

the Quran can be in public school classrooms,

13:05

but you better not have a bible. In a public school classroom.

13:08

Jesus is addressing this. It's amazing. You can pray

13:13

in a public event And when you end the prayer, you can

13:17

say in the name of all that is

13:20

good. Amen. You don't not having any problem?

13:24

You said that same prayer word for word

13:26

and you end with and in the name

13:28

of Jesus and here you can watch

13:31

the fireworks start. You can just watch it. The things of

13:36

god are attacked. They always have been, and

13:39

you need to not be rocked by it. Jesus is addressing this.

13:43

Jesus is addressing this. Now, we go on

13:46

looking at these words of Jesus and look at Jesus

13:50

response. Wow. These are the words it read letters

13:54

here, what sorrow awaits you,

13:58

who, judgment day. Is gonna be bad

14:02

for you. Go down to the place of the dead,

14:06

go down to the place of hell. Absolutely, Jesus loves everybody. But Church, you need

14:14

to know what Jesus says about hell.

14:18

About the sorrow that awaits you about judgment

14:21

day. These are some hard words that Jesus is

14:25

using but he calls out wrong thinking

14:29

and wrong actions, judgment day's is gonna be bad for you.

14:34

Not very tolerant Jesus. He'd kinda of watch

14:36

that. He goes on in verse 28.

14:41

And says come to me all who are weary,

14:44

heavy let heavy burden, and I will give

14:47

you rest. Take my yoke upon you. What

14:49

we've heard this passage. Everybody probably is familiar

14:52

with this, but we missed this little sentence

14:54

right here. Let me teach you.

14:58

Underline that your bible. Let me teach you

15:00

because I'm humble, gentle at heart, and you

15:02

will find rest for your souls. My yoke is easy to bear. My burden I give

15:06

you is light. Let me teach you.

15:11

See today, many want to take Jesus

15:14

love but don't want Jesus to teach them anything.

15:18

Oh, Jesus wants to teach you. And you don't take his love

15:24

without hearing and receiving his teaching.

15:28

So we we don't want Jesus to teach

15:31

us anything. I'll do my own thing. I'll make my

15:34

own decisions. I'll live life my own way.

15:37

I'll g myself like I want to

15:40

Jesus, you just keep the love, the acceptance

15:44

and the blessings come my way. As a matter of fact, we... And I'm

15:49

not gonna get to this because we're not

15:52

in Matthew 28 yet. We'll be there later

15:55

on in this study. But in Matthew 28 when Jesus is given

15:59

the great commission. And and he says there

16:02

in his closing words, go make disciples,

16:05

teach the disciples to obey all the commands that I've given

16:10

you. There is a teaching of God's commands.

16:12

There is an obedience to his word

16:15

and we are just reading the words of

16:18

Jesus. Church, I wanna encourage you.

16:21

Before you say on Facebook, Jesus taught.

16:25

Or Jesus said, you need to know what Jesus taught. You

16:29

you need to know what Jesus? Well, Jesus

16:32

said, you need to know what Jesus said,

16:34

before you just boldly say, Jesus said, and

16:38

you start posting a bunch of stuff. There

16:40

are things that we need to learn that Jesus wants to teach us. What Sorrow

16:45

awaits you, judgment day, eternity in hell. I just want to

16:51

Fyi, I work on my Sermon

16:54

for quite a while before I preach him, and there is a sermon

16:58

pretty far along on my desk, and the

17:01

title is Hell. Now, I will not be given the date

17:07

that I'm gonna preach that because I'm quite aware we'll have nobody in

17:11

attendance. But it's shocking how 1 of the most

17:15

talked about in the bible

17:20

is 1 of the least mentioned

17:22

in Sunday morning Sermon. And this is not gonna be a crowd

17:27

please. It's not gonna be a crowd builder

17:31

But it's in there. It's in there. And and you need to

17:35

know hell awaits those

17:38

who don't turn to Jesus. Hell,

17:42

and we need to learn and talk a little bit more than we do

17:45

about hell. Jesus wants to be Lord

17:50

but he is L0D. That is

17:53

Lord. There are many things Jesus wants to teach

17:57

us. He's always at every turn teaching,

18:01

teaching the masses, teaching the disciples.

18:04

And once again, we just don't get Jesus

18:06

love and his acceptance. Without his lords ship in our life.

18:12

Jesus makes it very clear in many places

18:15

when accused of being

18:18

Satan or being a satan and he said

18:20

hold on. There they're I'm not part of Satan and

18:24

then explains a little bit about that. But

18:27

Jesus throughout his ministry

18:31

identifies 2 sides, and and it's really clear.

18:36

Burst 30. Anyone who isn't with me

18:40

opposes me. And anyone who isn't working with me

18:45

is actually working

18:48

against me. And we just got a lot of folks

18:51

today that have adopted them a message of

18:54

the gospel where they're riding the fence.

18:57

Now I'm not really a part of that, And I'm not going along with this, But

19:01

now, I'm not way over here either. I'm

19:04

I'm Oh okay. So you're

19:07

lukewarm, the bible says something about that.

19:11

Oh, so you're double minded, the bible says

19:14

something about that. There is no fence riding with Jesus.

19:18

And and you're not okay. You're either for

19:22

him. Or you're against it. Won't you see verse

19:24

30 that you're either working for me

19:27

or you're working against me

19:30

and we need to know that. There's only 1 to 2 sides which side are you

19:35

on? We just want to have a universal

19:39

acceptance of Jesus is love, and that's not

19:41

an option for us. There there's a line

19:44

in the sand and you're on Jesus side

19:47

or you're against him. We talk a lot

19:50

about and he he moves right into verse 33.

19:53

We talk a lot about fruit because Jesus talks a lot about fruit.

19:58

And and he... Let's look at the fruit of a tree, and he says a bad

20:02

tree over time, can't produce good fruit.

20:07

A bad tree can't produce good fruit. And a good tree

20:12

will only produce good fruit. A bad tree.

20:16

Just can't produce good free. Good trees produce good free.

20:21

And and I I want us to

20:24

continue to develop the ability to be fruit inspectors in our

20:29

life. Let's look at

20:32

fruit. Let's stop looking for everybody to be perfect.

20:36

Let's look at fruit. Let let's just look

20:40

at fruit. Is this church perfect? No. No. Far from it. We've got some

20:46

very imperfect associate pastors here. Best I could

20:49

do. Is this church perfect?

20:54

No. Absolutely. It's not perfect.

20:57

But over 50 years, we we we produced some pretty good fruit.

21:03

We've we've... So you you look. Look at

21:06

where you worked. Look at your look at

21:08

the school. Christian Ministry Academy, it's not perfect.

21:12

Got all kinds of problems there. But in

21:14

45 years of having school, You know, we've we've

21:18

you identify a tree

21:21

by fruit. You don't identify a tree by 1 thing

21:25

that happened. By 1 event that happened.

21:28

Just as a tree is identified by its

21:31

fruit. That's how we know people

21:34

That's how we know and understand who people

21:38

are. If a tree is bad, its fruits gonna be bad.

21:43

You can just know that. An evil

21:46

person produces evil things.

21:50

And then we go on in verse 34. Oh, look at this. Red letters.

21:55

That's when we're studying these red letters. You brood

21:59

of snakes. How could evil men like you

22:04

speak? Well, we got to see we gotta see

22:07

Jesus. He called people snakes.

22:11

Jesus called people, dogs. He called people, white wash tombs.

22:18

I'm not sure what about Jesus gets you,

22:21

we think when we read dogs and snakes.

22:25

Wow. Jesus taught us using a tree fruit as

22:30

a way of identifying good and bad.

22:32

And just careful about making a judgment.

22:37

Over 1 thing a person said, careful about

22:40

making a judgment over 1 event that happened,

22:44

over 1 situation,

22:47

You you you don't judge by that.

22:52

Just thinking, and Paul, and I could share

22:55

a lot of stories, But we've been working together for 38 years.

23:00

And and countless

23:03

times, not a few. Countless times,

23:07

we've had our voices raised

23:10

toward 1 another. Countless times.

23:14

I walked out and said, I've had all I can take.

23:18

He's got to go. Now I'm done with it. He's got to

23:23

go. And I have to deal with countless times.

23:27

He's walked out and said, I got to go.

23:31

I've had all of him. I intend on taking.

23:35

I've I've I put up with this and I've dealt with this, and I'm fixing. I

23:40

got to go. I'm sick of this, and you need to

23:45

know that's happened on a regular basis with

23:47

Paul and I. It's not that, well, you and Paul Lucky.

23:51

No. He needs to go a lot of times.

23:56

But in the last 38 years

23:58

is I'm storming off. I gotta think about

24:03

He's a good man. He's a good man.

24:06

He's committed. He's committed to the Lord.

24:09

He's faithful. That fruit has been obvious in his life.

24:14

He he was a great father. He he's been a husband that is... Stuck

24:19

in here. Paul loves people.

24:22

He loves people. Hit, Paul wants to see people grow. I,

24:27

you you don't pay somebody to love interns

24:30

and desire to see them grow. That's something

24:33

in him. I guess I'm not as mad as I

24:38

thought it was. I'm a give him another day. So you

24:42

yes, I am balling mad right now, and

24:46

I am sick of him and I'm ready

24:48

for him to leave, but if we will step back

24:51

with your boss, with your mate,

24:54

with your neighbor, with your job,

24:58

with your church, with your school, If you'll just step back

25:02

a minute. This was horrible. I'm bull mad,

25:06

I can feel my heart beating in my head, and I want him gone.

25:12

Step back. You know,

25:14

where are you gonna find somebody that loves people like this? Where you gonna find somebody that would do

25:19

anything for me that he would do. At a drop of

25:22

a hat, middle of the night. Paul would

25:25

be there. I would even have to call him he had hear about it, and he'd

25:28

be there. You you better be careful

25:32

before you just start doing this in life.

25:36

I get it. You're mad. I'm mad. I'm

25:39

mad, I'm mad mad. I get it. I wish he would jump

25:43

off of a bridge. I get all of that, but let's back up. And you identify

25:49

people not by 1 event, you identify by

25:52

the fruit in their life. And that's what Jesus is trying to get...

25:58

This is not a bible verse to me.

26:01

It's the way I live my life. It's the way

26:04

operate in life. And it's not because Paul

26:07

and I have always seen out hour gotten

26:10

together. It's because

26:12

we've been together 38 years because we're able to see fruit.

26:16

We're able to appreciate through. Admire fruit,

26:20

understand fruit, and we're able to understand that everybody's not perfect.

26:25

Everybody has a bad day. I have a bad day. And what I

26:28

said, I shouldn't said now I was wrong in saying it.

26:32

But I'm not gonna jump up here and

26:34

make a decision. I'm gonna look at fruit.

26:37

I'm gonna look at fruit. She said we're

26:39

going to identify by fruit. We gotta stop

26:44

identifying by an event, We gotta stop

26:47

identifying by what he said. We gotta stop

26:51

identifying by how he disappointed me. We gotta

26:54

stop all of that. And let's back up and look at fruit.

26:57

And that's the way you work and succeed

27:00

in life. We go on to verse 40

27:02

and Jesus tells of his 3 days in

27:05

hell, and we don't have time to teach on

27:09

the defeat of Satan and what happened in

27:11

hale using the example of Jonah and the

27:14

Queen She, and verse 42. Jesus calls us to stand

27:18

against this generation, and there's that

27:21

judgment day, stand against this generation. Jesus talk often about

27:27

judgment day. Church we this... We we don't

27:31

get around and we can't sidestep.

27:34

I get I had rather preach on the

27:36

love of God. Is I had on judgment

27:39

day, but we can't act like judgment day

27:42

is not a part of the deal. We we can't act like you're not going

27:46

to think before God, just you and him.

27:50

And give an account of what you did,

27:52

and you stand before God you're not gonna

27:55

give an account about how the teacher wrongs you. Your coach did this. Your boss did.

27:59

He don't hear... That's not the account you're

28:01

gonna give. Well, they did this to me, and they

28:03

said that to demeanor, you won't give an account of what you

28:07

did. You're gonna give an account of what you said. You're gonna give account of the

28:10

way you handle this situation. You're gonna give

28:13

an account On judgment day, you're gonna give

28:16

an account about you and what you did.

28:18

And that's gonna have to get to be our focus instead of what everybody else did

28:23

and said and how they treated us and how they did me wrong. And Jesus calls

28:28

for repentance because of a judgment day.

28:33

That's why we're called to repent. We move on, very important truth that Jesus

28:38

teaches in verse 43, and we gotta see this. I got a

28:41

hurry. When an evil spirit leaves a person. It goes into the

28:46

desert, seeking rest, but finding none, then it

28:49

says, I'll return to the person I came

28:52

from. So it returns and finds its former house

28:57

empty, swept and in order. Verse 45.

29:00

Then the spirit find 7 other spirits more evil than itself,

29:06

and they all enter that person and live

29:09

there. And so that person is worse off than ever before.

29:16

Whoa. Now, this is a mouthful here.

29:19

We... Let's let's think this through. As we

29:22

are all making changes in our life and

29:25

all of us in here or making changes. That's why you're at a Wednesday night service.

29:30

Everybody in here is making changes in their

29:32

life. But I just wanna continue to remind

29:35

us and you know this, but I just wanna remind us,

29:38

you can't clean up your thoughts.

29:41

You gotta replace your thoughts. You you don't just stop. You have to

29:46

start. You you can't clean up bad habits.

29:50

You gotta feel your life full of good

29:53

habits. You you got to re... It's it's...

29:56

And and I I've been asked countless times. Kim, I just have such bad thoughts. And

30:01

whatever it is. They got bad thoughts of lust and I can't stop that. I've got

30:05

thoughts of depression. I... I've got thoughts of

30:08

suicide. Tim I just hate this person. I'm

30:10

boiling with hate. I got balls of hate. Whatever it is. You got these thoughts.

30:15

I just can't stop thinking them. I just

30:19

can't stop thinking them. The problem is not

30:22

replacing them. See you it's 1 thing to clean up

30:26

the house, but you got to. As it's

30:29

being... You gotta fill this house right back

30:31

up. And you feel your life full of

30:35

good things. You feel your life. See, you

30:38

you can't just stop. Thinking about how somebody

30:41

wrong you. Stay wrong to you and you

30:44

can't turn that off, but you can feel

30:47

your mind with good thoughts. You can't feel your mind with good thoughts

30:52

to think about. And as our lives are changing, and we

30:55

all are, Yeah we gotta just make sure

30:58

that that I'm I'm proud that you are

31:01

no longer robbing banks. Good. Good step.

31:04

I'm proud of that. But now let's get some new habits?

31:07

Or you in church? Or are you committed to a church?

31:11

Are you volunteering and serving there?

31:15

Do you start off your days with a couple chapters in this in the word? Do

31:19

you start off your day? Turning and submitting your day over to the

31:23

Lord. What what kind of friends do you have? Do you have a whole new set

31:28

of friends? You're not gonna stop doing anything

31:32

hanging around the same people that you've always

31:34

hung around with. You're not gonna stop that.

31:37

What you gotta do is get a whole

31:40

set of new friends. You gotta get a whole set of new

31:43

running buddies. See it, you you get a whole another

31:47

world. I got all different thoughts and I used

31:51

to think about Absolutely.

31:53

There are things in your life you need

31:56

to stop doing. But let's get focused

32:01

on all the things that you're gonna start doing.

32:04

Let's get focused on a new lifestyle on

32:07

new habit patterns. On new words that I use on new

32:11

conversations that I have, build your life.

32:16

Feel your life with good things, feel your life with good people,

32:21

with good friends, you feel your life,

32:25

doing good things for other people. You you

32:29

you attend good things.

32:32

You go and get involved in good things

32:35

and you're a part of good things. And

32:37

as you feel your life full

32:40

of godly activities. It's amazing. I don't have time to go

32:44

do something. I don't have time to go

32:46

mess up. III don't have to... That avenue is no

32:50

longer open to me because it don't have any friends that do it. I don't know

32:53

where it's being done. I don't have any place. My life is so full of doing

32:57

this. But I have time to do that. This is a real teaching that Jesus gives

33:02

us here. The section that we're looking at in this

33:06

lesson ends with chapter or 12 verse 46.

33:10

And Jesus was teaching those that wanted to

33:13

hear. And and someone told Jesus.

33:16

Your mother and your brothers are standing

33:20

on the outside, and and they wanna speak

33:22

to you. Now want you to look at this. Very

33:25

interesting. Verse 46, and verse 47

33:28

2 times it is said,

33:32

your mother and brothers are outside.

33:35

2 times. They're outside. What a lesson

33:39

Hard lesson. Where are they?

33:43

They're standing on the outside?

33:46

They're standing on the outside, and they won't Jesus to

33:50

come out and be outside with them.

33:55

I'm I don't have time to get into it. Jesus brothers didn't believe.

33:59

They're on the outside. Jesus brothers didn't even

34:02

believe in him. They didn't believe in the

34:05

messiah. Well, Paul has 1 of the greatest

34:07

teachings you'll ever hear in your whole life

34:10

about the proof, the validity of the resurrection.

34:13

And 1 of the biggest points is Jesus

34:16

own brothers didn't believe he was the messiah,

34:19

then what happened? He came out of that grave.

34:23

All of a sudden, it changed his own brother's

34:26

view. They got on the inside when the

34:29

resurrection took place. 1 the biggest proof of the resurrection there is,

34:33

is just Jesus brothers and what they thought

34:36

and then what they then thought. We gotta

34:38

see this. Jesus asked. Boy shy away from hard words of Jesus.

34:44

These are not on t shirts. They're not

34:46

on refrigerator magnets. We don't have brood of viper

34:50

on a t shirt on a coffee mug

34:53

that these are hard words, but we gotta know this.

34:56

Who are my brothers? Who

35:00

is my mother. And then in verse 50,

35:02

he answers his own question. Anyone who does the will of my father

35:08

in heaven is my brother, my sister and my mother.

35:13

Anyone who does the will of my father

35:16

in heaven. This is hard. This is hard

35:19

to our flesh, but Jesus taught

35:21

hard things. Jesus taught things that goes against

35:26

our flesh. Who is Jesus family,

35:29

those who do the will of his father.

35:32

Jesus said, and in Matthew 7, Paul taught

35:35

about this, and I won't go back. He

35:37

taught about this a couple of weeks ago. But in Matthew 7, says many will cry

35:41

Lord Lord. But only those who actually do

35:46

my father's will in heaven. Will enter heaven. To be considered by Jesus,

35:51

as a member of his family, there is a doing of god's will,

35:56

that we're required to live in. His mother,

35:59

his brothers standing on the outside,

36:02

Jesus stayed on the inside. Those doing my

36:05

father's will these are my mother and my brothers and

36:09

my sisters. Church, I I love this study.

36:12

When we get through with this, we're gonna

36:14

know what Jesus said. Y'all stand.

36:21

Lord we thank you for for your word. Thank you

36:26

for your word that that gives us

36:29

direction that clears up our thinking

36:32

and that we understand

36:35

your will, your plan, your words that we

36:38

understand who you are, We honor you tonight, and we say you

36:43

are Lord. We give you thanks in Jesus name. Amy.
