This week we talk with author, actor, and barber Barnard Simms.  

Barnard Sims, pen named: Barnard the Barber is the Award-Winning Author of: 

 THE SOUTHERN AWAKENING: 

A Black Man’s Guide to Liberating the Rural South.  

 Additionally, Barnard is USCF (United States Chess Federation) District Chess Coach and the founder of the 501(c3) Nonprofit, Reach One Chess, Inc. ROC’s mission is to inspire the next generation of thinkers, through literacy, to become authors and storytellers themselves. 

 Barnard is also an actor whose been in a Civil Rights film with the late Congressman John Lewis and was most recently in the movie Till produced by EGOT winner Whoopi Goldberg.
