Financial illiteracy is a real problem in the Black Community. We prefer to spend more than save. We are failing in managing our finances, and we are making decisions solely on what looks good, trending, or the fad. Because of this mindset, we are least to save, invest, or insure. We need to be on a budget; we need to record our total monthly income minus our total monthly expenses to know our new worth. We have to save at least three to six months for an emergency in case of losing a job, getting sick, divorcing, etc..We can no longer continue to be reckless in our spending and bad money management habits. We have to learn how to handle our financial affairs properly so we can teach our children. This can only happen if we become financially literate.
