I'm actually so happy about the

0:00

episode that I just recorded.

0:03

I think that you guys are really going

0:03

to resonate with the conversation.

0:07

And obviously the conversation is with

0:07

myself because it's a solo episode

0:09

today, but it's with you and you

0:09

might be resonating with a lot of the

0:13

things I'm going to bring up today. In today's podcast episode,

0:14

I'm going to get really raw

0:17

about how I've been feeling. I've been having a lot of

0:18

lows lately in the business.

0:20

Not necessarily in like

0:20

the worst ways possible.

0:23

What I mean is like I'm feeling really overwhelmed. I feel like I've been pulled back into the

0:25

business more than I want to be right now.

0:29

I just rapid hired like five new people.

0:31

And so like bringing those people on,

0:31

I'm going to share how to have those

0:34

hires that I brought on were actually,

0:34

coming from a different firm who

0:38

let me essentially borrow their team

0:38

member, which is really freaking cool.

0:40

So it's a different way to. Approach the concept of hiring.

0:44

I'm going to talk about how I'm

0:44

preparing for three weeks off for

0:46

Europe, which I leave next week. And then also recognizing when it's

0:48

time to reach out and ask for help.

0:52

And it doesn't just mean in the business. I'm talking in your personal life

0:54

too, of like truly recognizing when

0:58

it's okay to not feel like you have

0:58

to constantly wear this hero's Cape.

1:02

So I really hope that you enjoyed today's episode. And at any point, if you want to

1:04

share your story or you want to

1:07

just talk this out, reach out to me,

1:07

and I'm always here for you guys.

1:10

I hope you enjoy today's episode. Hey, everyone.

2:08

I'm super excited for today's

2:08

episode because today it's

2:10

just going to be me and you. And I'm so pumped because I find that

2:11

recently, a lot of you have reached out

2:17

to me, directly, and really just shared

2:17

that you love when I'm just real and

2:20

raw about what's going on in my world. And to really share the insight of what

2:22

it's like to just be at different phases

2:27

in the business and transitioning between.

2:30

You know, high points and low

2:30

points and so on and so forth.

2:33

So today's episode is going to get

2:33

real deep about all the things that

2:36

are kind of happening my role, and

2:36

actually how it relates to you.

2:39

Because a lot of these messages I'm

2:39

going to share today are probably

2:42

going to resonate with you more

2:42

than you probably want to admit.

2:46

And so I'm super excited to get

2:46

kind of really deep about just some

2:49

craziness that's been happening. And the realness of what's

2:51

happening in both my firm and here

2:54

also at workflow queen as well. And just sharing how I'm navigating it,

2:56

because it's, like I said, it's really

2:59

going to be super helpful for you. So before I kind of preface like really

3:01

what I want to talk about, If you are

3:05

in a weird season of your business,

3:05

you can even be in a positive season

3:08

or you could be in a negative season. What I mean by that is.

3:11

Maybe you're just super overwhelmed. Maybe you have hired the team, you've

3:12

done the right things, but maybe you're

3:15

pulled back into the day-to-day work

3:15

or maybe you're trying desperately

3:18

to start hiring, but you can't get

3:18

out of the day-to-day like wherever

3:22

you're at in business, whether you're

3:22

a high point or you're at a low point.

3:25

This episode is perfect for you because

3:25

as you know, in our personal life and also

3:29

in business, you can never always go up

3:29

and you can also never always go down.

3:33

There's what they call ebbs

3:33

and flows all the time.

3:36

And so you will find that in your

3:36

business, even though you've hired,

3:38

and even though you've done all the

3:38

right things and you've taken the right

3:41

steps and, oh my gosh, all this, I did

3:41

implement the systems and I did do that.

3:45

Sometimes it works really smoothly

3:45

for like a period of time.

3:49

And then all of a sudden you feel like maybe you're pulled back into the business.

3:52

Maybe you're like **** now we have

3:52

to hire another person there's ebbs

3:55

and flows that do happen in business. And I want to preface that if, if.

3:58

You understand that concept and this

3:58

episode's going to be perfect for you

4:01

because I'm going to share with you. Some of the low points that I've been

4:02

in recently in my business and just how

4:05

I'm kind of climbing my way back out. Cause that's what it feels like.

4:09

I feel like I'm in this like

4:09

really deep hole right now that

4:11

I'm like slowly climbing out of. And like I even for myself was

4:13

like, oh yeah, I'm never going

4:16

to be at that point again. And like, here we are.

4:18

And so I've learned for

4:18

myself that like, It's okay.

4:21

That you're going to go through

4:21

these ups and downs, and it's just

4:23

recognizing how to approach them

4:23

and not beating yourself up because

4:26

I have beaten myself up recently

4:26

for being back into this low point.

4:30

So in today's episode, I'm really

4:30

just going to be covering a couple

4:32

of points, but it's going to

4:32

kind of go off on its own place.

4:35

I really don't like to script out my

4:35

podcasts, uh, sessions where myself.

4:39

And that's mostly because I feel like

4:39

the good things I say, or the things

4:42

that are really helpful for you guys

4:42

or the things I need to get out or the

4:45

raw or the real, the truth really comes

4:45

out of me when I don't have structure.

4:49

And I just allow this conversation to

4:49

flow because I want it to feel like

4:52

we're sitting at a coffee shop together. So a couple of things I do want

4:54

to cover at least today is I

4:57

did have your rapid hired guys. It's just so crazy.

5:01

Like I'm still so burnt out from it. I like rapid hired five people.

5:05

Two of them, I did borrow from another firm, which we're going to talk about today.

5:08

So I'm actually going to share how to

5:08

like borrow someone's team members.

5:12

And it doesn't always mean that

5:12

you need to hire someone that maybe

5:14

there's other alternatives to hiring. If you're really in a need to get

5:16

someone helping you out with stuff.

5:20

The other thing I want to cover is

5:20

like recognizing and knowing when it's

5:23

time to actually reach out for help. And this can be like, for

5:24

me, it's my personal life.

5:27

Like my. You know, personal health, my friends

5:28

helping me team members, helping me

5:31

knowing and recognizing when to hire. And so on and so forth.

5:34

So today I'm going to talk about that and

5:34

then also how I'm preparing for Europe.

5:38

So I'm actually going to be unplugging

5:38

for three weeks, actually leave next

5:42

week as I'm recording this episode, I'm

5:42

recording today on June 5th, I'm leaving

5:45

on June 12th and I plan to be fully

5:45

unplugged from both workflow queen and

5:48

my from magnetic bookkeeping consulting. And let my teams run the show and

5:51

I don't plan to check in on them.

5:54

So I'm gonna talk about how I'm prepping

5:54

for that, with this really weird phase

5:57

I'm in business, because you're probably

5:57

thinking, well, Alyssa didn't use to

6:00

say you feel like you're in a hole and

6:00

you're like slowly climbing yourself out.

6:03

Why would you step away for three weeks? It's because there's a lot of

6:05

work that I'm doing right now in

6:07

order to prepare for that moment. So today I'm going to talk about how

6:08

I'm climbing out of that hole and

6:11

still unplugging from a vacation. And so I am so excited

6:13

for today's episode.

6:16

And if at any point you want to share

6:16

a story that resonates with you, I'm

6:19

going to share a lot of things that

6:19

I know as you, as humans are going

6:22

to resonate with what I have to say. Please.

6:24

I love this guys. You have literally all been

6:25

reaching out to me via email.

6:28

I see every one of the emails that

6:28

you send to us as far as like the ones

6:31

that are referenced directly to me. Like, and you guys say,

6:33

Alyssa, I want you to see this.

6:36

Like, my team gets those things to me. I love to read them.

6:38

They're so important for me. And Instagram is the one place

6:41

that even when I'm in Europe, I

6:43

actually do check my Instagram. So feel free to reach out to me on

6:45

Instagram at workflow queen and share

6:48

your story, share whatever you've got

6:48

that you, or maybe you're just going

6:51

through a really low period as well that

6:51

I'm going to share in just a second.

6:55

So I kind of want to take a step back

6:55

before I dive into all three points.

6:57

Just to kind of give you guys like

6:57

some context of what the freakiest

7:01

happening in my world, because I

7:01

feel like it's just gotten chaotic

7:04

and I feel like it just like. It's like the snowball effect.

7:07

I feel like it was just like one

7:07

little thing after another, that

7:09

slowly just compiled in my life. And also in both businesses.

7:13

That now I'm back at a point guys. Like I was just talking

7:15

to my friend, Brooke Swan.

7:17

Yesterday. And we were making a joke because she was

7:18

saying that she only works like now about

7:21

30 hours a month, which is amazing because

7:21

Brooke, I have seen her firsthand work.

7:26

So freaking hard on her business.

7:28

I remember when we went to Oregon,

7:28

I think it was around a year ago.

7:32

And it was her first time,

7:32

truly unplugging from her team.

7:34

And I'm so proud of her because

7:34

now she can just like step away.

7:37

She doesn't have to be in the business. So she doesn't need to, she has

7:38

truly worked so hard to get there.

7:42

So it makes me so happy for her. And now I'm forgetting where

7:44

I was going with my story, but I'm sure I'll get there.

7:47

But anyway, so. I oh, we're joking on the phone.

7:50

So during our conversation, she

7:50

was like, yeah, it's so funny.

7:53

Cause I only worked like 30

7:53

hours in the month guys, which

7:56

divide 30 hours divided by four. That's a pretty good amount of hours.

7:59

Only weekly, which is amazing. So in that moment I laughed.

8:03

Cause I was like, isn't it so funny

8:03

that like me and you kind of swapped

8:06

I'm back to working almost full-time

8:06

hours and she's now working the hours.

8:09

Like I used to work. So I used to get at one point in the

8:10

businesses when I had both of them.

8:14

I was down to like two to three

8:14

hours max, a week of working.

8:18

And it's just funny that now I'm pulled

8:18

so much into the work again, that like,

8:23

I feel like I'm working a full-time

8:23

role and I'm really overwhelmed.

8:25

I'm really exhausted. And we're going to talk about that today,

8:26

but just know that like, I want to tell

8:31

you this and share this with you because

8:31

a lot of people look at me like, Oh,

8:34

it's Alyssa Lang the workflow queen. Like she must have it all

8:35

together all the time.

8:37

And like all these systems and

8:37

all the team and all these things.

8:40

And yes, those things are true,

8:40

but also there's a shift in the

8:44

business that happens as we grow.

8:47

As we change as I need new

8:47

needs and so on and so forth.

8:50

And so yes, while those things are

8:50

true, there's also the downfall of

8:53

like, even myself that I don't really

8:53

share often, because I feel like when

8:57

you've become like this influence in

8:57

this space, you have to feel like you

9:00

have to wear this super hero Cape.

9:03

And I'm tired of wearing that Cape. I'm going to be really

9:04

honest with you guys. I've had some transformations

9:05

that have happened recently.

9:08

Through some personal work that I've

9:08

been doing and I've recognized I

9:11

got to put that Cape down because

9:11

I can't be everyone's hero.

9:14

I need to be my own hero. And I think that that's,

9:16

what's so important. And the key message here.

9:19

Is that like, I need to be real with you

9:19

guys about what's actually happening.

9:22

So you guys also can feel validated and

9:22

how you currently feel right now as well.

9:27

And so anyways, I've been

9:27

pulled back into the businesses.

9:29

So what that's been looking

9:29

like for me for both magnetic.

9:31

So my firm and also workflow queen. Is I've been like drowning and trying

9:33

to get some homework reviews done.

9:37

For our breakthrough program, just

9:37

because I like took off for so many weeks

9:40

straight to go to different retreats

9:40

and different things for the business.

9:43

I feel like I've been dropping

9:43

the ball on my personal life for

9:46

getting to pay my own mortgage. I've been forgetting to

9:48

contact the contractors who are installing the bathtub upstairs.

9:51

Like I've been just dropping the ball

9:51

and then like at my own firm, like, I've

9:56

just feel like I can't get approvals out

9:56

to people and I can't get things done.

9:59

And it's just like really overwhelming. And here's the thing I am grateful to say.

10:05

I am actually out of the day to day.

10:07

So what I mean by that, you're probably like Alyssa, you just said that you're drowning.

10:10

Yes. I'm drowning, but I'm drowning

10:10

in different ways than I used to.

10:12

So. I don't know what stage you're at in

10:13

business as you're listening here.

10:15

But you'll notice that you'll

10:15

drown in different ways, in

10:18

different stages of your business. So I used to drown in the day to

10:20

day because I would do all the

10:22

work and I didn't have a team. Now, the team is really handling the

10:23

day to day, but the things that I'm now

10:26

drowning in, or the high level **** so

10:26

like I'm talking like we're going through

10:31

a rebrand for magnetic and I'm having like

10:31

our designer and our copywriter and all

10:34

these people like asking me for approvals. Like, that's the things

10:37

I'm drowning in right now.

10:39

So like, I feel like I'm spending so

10:39

much time drowning in the high level.

10:43

And so it's interesting because

10:43

like these highs and lows are

10:45

different versions of highs and lows. Like back in the day, like I said,

10:47

when I didn't have the team and I

10:50

was stuck in the day-to-day, I was

10:50

drowning and like, man, I can't

10:52

even get this workout for my client. So the cool part is I do have

10:55

a team that has been delivering

10:57

on the actual services. And at that point, I just kind of

10:59

recognize, like, I can't freaking do this.

11:03

Like I need someone to help me wrangle

11:03

me in, help me get my thoughts.

11:08

I can't even look at my own emails. Like I have my own direct email

11:10

that no one has access to.

11:13

As far as like, none of our

11:13

students email me there.

11:15

It's like high level **** same

11:15

for magnetic as well.

11:18

And I'm just like, I'm just exhausted.

11:20

Like I can't even look at it. I like avoid my slack lately because

11:21

I know that there's so many people

11:24

asking me for approvals or information.

11:27

And I'm just so overwhelmed that. I was just like I

11:28

recognized in that moment.

11:30

And this is why I wanted to share this story. That I actually need further help.

11:34

And I'm not talking about

11:34

just hiring a team member.

11:36

I'm not talking about just another

11:36

bookkeeper, just another account

11:40

manager when don't get me wrong. I did just wrap it up higher, like another

11:41

bookkeeper and other account managers.

11:44

So that's neither here nor there. I recognize that I really truly needed

11:46

to ask for help beyond just the business.

11:51

I was drowning in my life. I feel like I had so much going on in

11:53

my brain that I couldn't even fathom.

11:57

Trying to also think about the business

11:57

because I needed to pay my mortgage.

12:00

I need to pay my water bill. I also need to go to the post office.

12:03

I still need to order groceries. I gotta talk to the nutritionist.

12:05

I gotta get my plan. It's like all these things.

12:08

And I knew that, like the only

12:08

thing I could do for myself is

12:11

like, finally, take a step back

12:11

and say, how can I get support?

12:15

I'm not talking about the

12:15

business, but me as an individual.

12:18

And so that's when I recognize

12:18

that maybe the best thing actually,

12:21

how this came up was I was on

12:21

a call with one of my coaches.

12:24

I'm a part of a mastermind and

12:24

one of my coaches on a zoom call.

12:28

None of the other girls could show up

12:28

that day and it was just me and the

12:31

coach and I just broke down crying

12:31

and she was like, what's going on?

12:34

And I was just like, I'm exhausted.

12:36

Like I'm tired, I'm overwhelmed. I can't get to the things that I

12:38

need to do within the business.

12:42

And I can't get to the things

12:42

I need as an individual.

12:45

And I'm stressed the hell out. And she just let me cry and let me be

12:46

in that moment to help me recognize

12:50

like that I really needed help. Right.

12:53

And so in that moment we were talking,

12:53

she said one of the most transformational

12:56

roles I hired when I got to that

12:56

point where like, She was out of the

12:59

day-to-day too, because like, remind

12:59

you guys, I'm not doing the bookkeeping.

13:02

I'm not in the books. I'm not going and pulling

13:04

statements from our clients.

13:06

Like I'm not doing all these different

13:06

little tiny tasks, but I'm in the

13:10

high level and I'm just exhausted. And she was just like, I'm also removed

13:13

from the day-to-day, but I would've got

13:16

to a point where like I had to be on

13:16

these calls and I had to be places and do

13:19

approvals and listen to the team and be

13:19

at leadership calls and all these things.

13:23

She was like, I needed a direct assistant

13:23

and I was like, I do have assistance.

13:27

I have an assistant in workflow queen. Or her name was Mackenzie or is

13:29

Mackenzie she's still with us, obviously.

13:32

And then, then also I have an assistant

13:32

that magnetic is worn her name's Kylie.

13:35

I have assistant she's like, no, Alyssa,

13:35

you need an assistant for you to filter

13:40

everybody's messages and information

13:40

to you that like you only get dropped

13:45

stuff on your lap that only you need

13:45

to see and not have to read through

13:48

threads and threads of emails instead. They just tell you.

13:51

Just what you need to know. And I was like, wow, I've

13:53

never thought about that. And then I really struggled in that

13:55

conversation to say, I feel like I

13:58

don't deserve a personal assistant one.

14:00

My brain couldn't wrap around it

14:00

because I was like, you know what?

14:03

How am I going to hire this role? Who's not going to

14:05

generate revenue for me. Like this role literally

14:07

will not make me money. and she was like, Alyssa, take a

14:09

step back and think about that.

14:11

If she can clear your space. At your mental space and also clear the

14:13

clutter that you get filtered to you.

14:18

And you can have that space where

14:18

like now they're setting up certain

14:21

appointments, they're doing this, they're

14:21

calling your contractors at your house.

14:24

They're making sure that the pest control

14:24

company is showing up to your house.

14:28

And so on and so forth. You will have so much space to then

14:29

be therefore be able to think, to

14:33

think of better marketing, better

14:33

sales, better opportunities.

14:37

You will have more space to be able

14:37

to be on more podcasts interviews.

14:41

And I was just like, it just clicked. It clicked for me.

14:44

I didn't even think about actually

14:44

hiring someone to just directly

14:48

serve me, not to serve my students

14:48

at Workflow Queen not to serve my

14:51

clients at Magnetic, but purely for me.

14:54

And in that moment, it

14:54

just that same day guys.

14:57

And I shared this on my story

14:57

recently at Workflow Queen.

14:59

So I do recommend I've kind of disappeared

14:59

and that's because I'm so overwhelmed,

15:02

but that's why you don't see me a lot on

15:02

my stories, but I plan that like, as this

15:05

new team member is giving me space to

15:05

come back and I can finally have space.

15:09

Guys I've recognized. I can't serve you guys

15:10

better if I'm overwhelmed.

15:14

And so like, I am doing you guys a service

15:14

by actually taking care of myself and

15:19

I want that message to stick for you. You need to take care of yourself

15:21

first, or you can not take care

15:24

of your clients and truly grow. And I'm at a stage guys where

15:26

I've made a lot of money.

15:30

I've made some, a lot of strides. I have literally been on stages

15:31

on multiple large media platforms.

15:36

I have done some really

15:36

cool **** and I'm still struggling

16:46

and I'm still in this space. So I really wanted to

16:47

share that with you guys. And so from that moment, that's

16:49

when I decided I needed to

16:52

hire a personal assistant. So I shared this on my

16:53

workflow queen stories. It's probably in my highlights now.

16:57

Where I walked you guys through,

16:57

like from the fruition of

16:59

like, I need to hire this role. Into let's get the resume out.

17:04

Let's put it out there. Let's interview. Let's do all these things.

17:06

So. this new role, her name is Brooke,

17:06

and it's not Brooke Swan because I

17:09

know a lot of you guys know my best

17:09

friend that I talk about all the time.

17:11

Her name is Brooke Swan. this is actually my new assistant.

17:14

Of course. I always hire people either with

17:14

my name or my friend's names.

17:16

It's very weird. But her name is Brooke white.

17:19

And maybe at this point, you've probably

17:19

interacted with her here and there.

17:22

So anyways. About a month ago.

17:24

This idea came in that I went

17:24

and used my own, like insight, a

17:28

breakthrough, my group coaching program. I provide like a job description builder.

17:32

So that way, like my students can use

17:32

my methodologies for how I find rockstar

17:36

team members, because people always tell

17:36

me, like, how do you find such amazing

17:40

loyal team members because of my process. And so actually share my whole entire

17:42

process inside of breakthrough.

17:44

And so if you're a breakthrough student

17:44

or you're interested in it, we give

17:47

the whole process a to Z how to hire

17:47

them, the fruition, the knowing the job

17:51

description down to like performance. reviews and even like letting

17:53

them go if you need to.

17:56

So inside a breakthrough, I used

17:56

my own job description builder

17:59

to look for my own assistant. So I built that out and I went online

18:01

and I went ahead and posted it to indeed.

18:05

So I threw some money at indeed. I think I ended up paying like $300 on

18:06

indeed in order to post the job role.

18:12

And I ended up being introduced to,

18:12

oh, so I interviewed three people.

18:16

So over 300 people applied. But because of my system that

18:18

I teach is that a breakthrough?

18:21

I literally used my secret

18:21

subject line, all the different

18:24

rules and the requirements that

18:24

I put, which are very strategic.

18:27

It's not just the secret subject lines,

18:27

all these other parameters of things

18:30

they have to follow out of 300 people.

18:32

About 10 of them actually followed the

18:32

rules, which is really normal out of

18:36

those 10, only about two of them were

18:36

some that like actually stood out to

18:39

me that I wanted to actually interview. Then the third person that I interviewed

18:42

was actually an introduction.

18:44

It's a friend of actually Brooks Swane's. Who was interested because

18:46

I had randomly shared all my

18:48

like personal Instagram story. Cause I have a personal Instagram.

18:51

If you want to, you guys can follow me

18:51

over there and that's @heyalyssalang

18:56

that's H E Y A L Y S S A L A N G.

18:59

If you want to follow me in my personal, I

18:59

do not share anything about the business.

19:02

It's literally about my personal life. You're welcome to come over and.

19:04

I hang out with me personally and

19:04

all the fun things, but anyways,

19:08

I shared on my personal story. And I shared that I was looking

19:10

for a personal assistant.

19:13

And, this girl had seen it and she

19:13

had mentioned something to Brooke.

19:16

And so Brooke introduced me to

19:16

her and we got on a call together.

19:20

So at that time I actually interviewed

19:20

someone named Allie, someone named

19:22

Alyssa and someone named Brooke. And I'm like, what is wrong with me?

19:25

I always like interview people with like

19:25

my same name, like I said, or my friends.

19:28

It's very weird. So out of the three, I really liked

19:29

Allie and I really liked Brooke.

19:33

And so broken alley, like

19:33

really stood out to me.

19:36

And Alyssa was great and she was super

19:36

amazing, but there was just a couple

19:40

of things that I just think didn't

19:40

think she has had as much experience.

19:44

As either Brooke or Allie. And so it was just very interesting.

19:47

So anyways, I interviewed them.

19:49

Absolutely loved them both,

19:49

but I was really struggling

19:52

because Brooke had so much more.

19:55

Long-term experience working as a direct executive assistant.

19:58

So I didn't know this guy. So I learned this the hard way an

19:59

executive assistant means someone who is

20:02

serving the direct CEO, direct owner of

20:02

the company and not serving everyone else.

20:08

And so this whole time I thought

20:08

an executive assistant was just a

20:10

fancy name, but really it's like

20:10

an assistant should be serving your

20:13

students and clients while an executive

20:13

assistant should be serving you only.

20:16

So I learned that myself, so. Hopefully you learn that to today.

20:20

So anyways, Brooke had a lot

20:20

more executive assistant work.

20:23

And I was really leaning towards

20:23

her, but Allie had like a

20:26

different attribute as well. So I think they both had like their

20:27

different qualities that really

20:30

stood out to me, but I was really

20:30

like 80% leaning towards Brooke,

20:34

but I was just kind of torn. And then at that time I

20:36

actually reached out and this

20:38

is why it's so important guys. When I say this to you, If you are

20:39

struggling to decide between a role

20:43

and you do not have anyone else on the

20:43

team to help you reach out to a friend.

20:47

Reach out to someone that you might know,

20:47

reach out to another bookkeeper and be

20:50

like, Hey, I love these two bookkeepers. Can you interview them both?

20:53

And just give me a gut check. So, what I did was I

20:54

called my best friend. Her name is Erin.

20:57

And so Aaron is actually the VP of

20:57

a really large e-commerce brand.

21:01

And she does like consulting for

21:01

some of my e-commerce clients

21:03

too, which is super cool. She's wicked smart.

21:06

She knows what the hell she's doing. And she's rapid hired so many people in

21:08

her career that I just leaned on her.

21:12

And I said, Hey, can you do me a favor? Can you interview.

21:15

This one girl, I actually

21:15

didn't even have her interview.

21:17

Allie actually only had her interview

21:17

Brooke at that time because Brooke

21:21

white like really stood out to me

21:21

and I wanted to get into that check.

21:24

So my friend, Aaron did an interview. And at the end of it, she called me

21:26

and was like, dude, she's literally

21:29

everything that you could ask for. And I think that she'd be

21:31

such an incredible role

21:34

and be a super major asset. And so I was like, cool.

21:38

I trust you. Like perfect. And I trust my own gut too,

21:39

and I'm going to do it.

21:41

So then I was at stagecoach actually

21:41

recently, and this was in April

21:45

and I sent an email and I said, I

21:45

would love for you to move forward.

21:48

We did a background

21:48

check, which I do share.

21:50

If you're inside of breakthrough,

21:50

I do have a lesson on the

21:52

background check user I use. The system that I use is called

21:54

checker and the C H E A C K R.

21:58

And I'll drop that link below

21:58

the episode as well for you guys,

22:01

but I use checker and checkers. Great. So if you're inside of breakthrough, I

22:03

give you the whole breakdown of like,

22:05

how, like what subscription on checker.

22:08

The whole process of getting the

22:08

background check and how to look at it.

22:11

If you're interested in a break, you're

22:11

also drop a link to the program as well.

22:13

It's like where we give everything

22:13

that you possibly need to know.

22:16

So she did the background check,

22:16

everything came out great.

22:19

Everything was good to go. And this was probably like

22:20

beginning of may when I officially offered the job to her.

22:23

And she started on May 13th and this

22:23

is June 5th and she has been the best.

22:27

Like hire, like I've ever made.

22:30

And not to say that my, all my

22:30

other team members are incredible.

22:32

They are, but I mean, it's because

22:32

for the first time ever, I recognize

22:36

that I'm allowed to be selfish. And pay this person.

22:39

So she's, full-time, she's an employee,

22:39

she's an employee of workflow queen.

22:43

So she's employed through workflow

22:43

queen, but she does help me high

22:45

level and magnetic workflow queen

22:45

and also in my personal life.

22:49

she does not work with my students. She does not work with my clients.

22:52

Like I said, we already have

22:52

people who do that on my team.

22:54

She is purely here to

22:54

support me to only help me.

22:58

And it has been such a

22:58

freaking game changer.

23:00

She's picked up so fast. It blows my mind.

23:04

And I reached out to Allie,

23:04

the other, applicant.

23:06

I just was like, you know what? I, you know, went with this route and her

23:07

name is Brooke and I absolutely love her.

23:11

And it was the best decision I've ever made. Like I literally am so grateful that

23:12

Brooke White came into my role because

23:16

she's already changing my life and.

23:19

I was just such a beautiful thing

23:19

to recognize that I needed help.

23:23

And like at first the guys I wanted to do

23:23

part-time and I was like, I should just

23:26

do part-time I don't have enough work,

23:26

but that's what we always tell ourselves.

23:29

We always tell ourselves that

23:29

we don't have enough work.

23:31

We do. It's just, we don't have

23:32

enough time to get to the work that we actually want to do.

23:35

And so I was like, screw it. I'm going to do full-time. I love her.

23:38

She's amazing. I just adore her so much.

23:40

And so every day we do a daily standup meeting. And the reason why I do that with her,

23:42

but not my team is because during our

23:45

daily standup meetings, we actually talked

23:45

through, what do I need in my personal.

23:49

Personal house right now. We're really doing a lot of catch-up.

23:51

And so that looks like her running

23:51

reports on me in Asana to make

23:54

sure I'm on top of my **** because

23:54

I fallen behind on my own tasks.

23:58

And she's also going through and checking

23:58

my emails and running them by me.

24:02

We're doing travel because she's

24:02

helping me plan for my Europe trip,

24:06

which is so nice guys to not have to

24:06

think about, oh, what about this hotel?

24:10

And like, have to search for it and

24:10

search for restaurants to go to.

24:12

She does all the research

24:12

and just gives me options.

24:15

And I just say that one and

24:15

it's so freaking cool guys.

24:18

I've been wanting this moment

24:18

for so many years, but didn't

24:20

recognize, and didn't allow myself

24:20

to say that I actually deserve this

24:25

role that I wanted to hire for. So I wanted to like share all

24:26

of that stuff because like the

24:28

recognition that I needed help. Was in the moment, one of the best things

24:31

that I can do for myself, because like

24:35

truly I would have just gotten in my own

24:35

way and felt like I'd never deserved.

24:38

To have this person. I'm not saying guys, if you're

24:39

listening to this episode, do not feel

24:42

the urge to be like, well, this is

24:42

a hiring, an assistant or a personal

24:46

executive assistant than I need to. Like, if you are not taking care of your

24:48

client work right now, then most likely

24:53

your role that you need is a bookkeeper. I can't guarantee that if you're inside of

24:55

our program breakthrough, I can actually

24:59

guide you on what role to hire first. But I will tell you that, like, don't

25:01

just assume that just because I have a

25:05

personal high level executive assistant

25:05

means that you need to have them right

25:09

now, if your current need is that you're

25:09

drowning in day to day emails to even

25:13

get them out for clients and you most

25:13

likely just need a direct assistant.

25:16

Not necessarily an executive assistant. You need an eye.

25:18

Like I said, I still have assistance guys. So technically I have three of

25:20

them, but now two of them just

25:23

serving clients and students while

25:23

this person is serving me directly.

25:27

And I just want to preface that because

25:27

I do know like being in this space, I

25:31

have a lot of people who are like, well,

25:31

if Alyssa did this, I'm going to do it.

25:34

So just you guys, you have to understand

25:34

what you need in your business.

25:37

If you're lost on what you need. Like I said, if you're in breakthrough,

25:38

I'm more than happy to coach you on

25:41

this, of like what you need to focus on.

25:43

I just need to know, like, what's

25:43

your biggest issue if you're not in

25:45

breakthrough and you kind of just want to

25:45

talk it through, you can always Instagram

25:48

me at workflow queen and just share me

25:48

like what's going on in the business.

25:51

And I can just give you some advice,

25:51

that might be really helpful for

25:54

you on like, what should I hire for. For, so for me guys, I've already

25:56

had all the other roles to finally

25:59

get me to the point where like I

25:59

one could afford and also needed the

26:03

role of someone in this capacity. And so I just wanted to kind of

26:05

share that because it just was really

26:08

overwhelming and recognizing that was

26:08

like a really big moment for me because

26:12

I've worn this badge that like, I

26:12

need to be brave and I could be fine.

26:15

Like I can be strong and I can

26:15

do all these things myself.

26:17

Oh, I can manage my own home. And also all these things.

26:20

And it's such a lie. I just couldn't do it on my own.

26:22

So like that recognition was

26:22

such a pivotal moment for me.

26:26

And I'm just so grateful. Like I said, it's so nice that

26:27

like, just going to Europe and not

26:29

having to plan it is like, even

26:29

though I love the idea of traveling,

26:33

like, I don't feel like planning. Like I just don't.

26:35

so I kind of want to like segue into the

26:35

other piece of the conversation, which is

26:39

how come I hired five people at one time.

26:41

And what that's looking like for me. So another thing in that recognition

26:43

of knowing that I need more help was

26:47

like, okay, you guys were starting

26:47

to get even busier at magnetic.

26:50

We're also starting to get even busier

26:50

at workflow queen with the number of

26:53

students we're bringing into breakthrough. And like I'm on all these sales

26:55

calls and I'm on all these things.

26:58

And like, I can't be everywhere. People. I can't support you guys in that capacity.

27:01

If I'm everywhere. And so that's when it came down

27:02

to being like I need to hire.

27:06

So the first hire of the five

27:06

was Brooke white, which is the

27:09

personal executive assistant. The second w that came after was not

27:11

necessarily a hire, but a promotion.

27:14

So one of my team members during, when

27:14

I was hiring for Brooke wipe, one of

27:19

my team members actually reached out

27:19

to me and said, I would love to apply.

27:22

And I said, I actually think

27:22

you have a very unique skillset.

27:25

That would be better in the

27:25

operations role versus in that role.

27:29

And I think you can shine in so many

27:29

different ways We can align you with a

27:31

longterm career path and all this stuff. And she was all in.

27:34

So she's actually my was my assistant.

27:37

But now as our operations associate at

27:37

Workflow Queen, her name is Mackenzie.

27:41

So you've most likely interacted with

27:41

her because she's who answers all the

27:44

emails for workflow queen and helps you

27:44

guys, when it comes to the program stuff.

27:48

And she's just freaking incredible

27:48

and she's just proven over and

27:50

over again, like that, she's

27:50

just an incredible team member.

27:53

She's more of like the behind the scenes. And so I was like, you'd be

27:54

great for that for operations.

27:57

But I propose to her, I said, you know what? I actually really need some help.

28:01

Inside of magnetic, like, cause

28:01

you're so good at documentation.

28:04

You're so good at like

28:04

understanding my brain.

28:06

You're really good at understanding

28:06

my process management.

28:09

And like all that I said, I'd love

28:09

to bring you inside of magnetic to

28:12

help me across both workflow queen

28:12

and magnetic to help my firm get

28:16

more systematized because I can't

28:16

do all the execution of the systems.

28:20

I did have an assistant at magnetic. But, she doesn't have

28:22

nearly as much experiences.

28:25

Mackenzie does. And Mackenzie's just been with me for

28:26

three years and she just knows my brain.

28:29

And so McKenzie was like, cool. So we did a promotion.

28:31

We, uh, negotiated a higher pay. So by the way, guys, if you ever want

28:33

to negotiate with your team members,

28:36

like, I really recommend that you ask

28:36

them, like, what do you want to be paid?

28:39

Have an idea in mind of like what

28:39

you're willing to based off your budget.

28:42

But the reason why is because I love

28:42

Mackenzie because she like pitches me and

28:47

it's so freaking cool to see that like

28:47

that she doesn't just give me a number.

28:50

She tells me this is the number

28:50

and why I think I deserve it.

28:53

She'll tell me about the big

28:53

projects that she's rolled out.

28:55

The ways that she's been supporting me

28:55

in the business and why she deserves it.

28:59

And she's just so it's so cool. To see that when your team and

29:01

they have these career paths.

29:03

And so I even had like a moment where

29:03

she had told me, like, yeah, and I want

29:06

this, I want like a longterm career. And I'm like, oh my God.

29:09

I like literally provide careers. And it's so crazy to me still.

29:13

So anyways, we did that promotion. We negotiated a higher pay.

29:16

And so we brought her into magnetic. She actually just started this week

29:17

inside of magnetic, which is really cool.

29:20

So she starting with clearing

29:20

out our support inbox.

29:23

Originally Kylie was doing it. but now McKenzie's taking that over.

29:27

She's helping with the off-boarding

29:27

and onboarding and helping me

29:29

to finalize some of our major

29:29

core processes in the business.

29:33

So it's really cool to have her across both. So she's still full-time but she just

29:34

now, like, it's like 60% workflow queen.

29:39

I would probably say like 40 to

29:39

30% magnetic, which is really cool.

29:44

And so we just got on a call

29:44

yesterday and I was just like

29:46

training her on some of the things

29:46

that she needs to learn for magnetic.

29:49

And she just was picking up so fast. So that was like not really a hire, but

29:51

someone that we promoted and I have to

29:54

do all this training and we have to do

29:54

like a re a plan for her career path.

29:58

Cause I'm hoping that in a year from

29:58

now we can move her into operations

30:02

manager, but she needs to do certain

30:02

things in order to get there.

30:05

And so like that means a career path. That means like the performance

30:07

reviews, new KPIs for her.

30:10

So like, it felt like I was hiring a new person. the other three people was, we just

30:12

introduced a brand new coach inside

30:15

of breakthrough, which is super cool. Her name is Erica painter.

30:18

So if you're inside of breakthrough, then

30:18

you know exactly who Erica painter is.

30:21

She just got announced last week.

30:24

Of her being accepted as a

30:24

coach inside a breakthrough.

30:27

So we have three coaches now, myself.

30:29

Brooke's one, which she owns

30:29

clarity, bookkeeping consulting.

30:33

And she's just wicked, freaking smart.

30:35

She's got the same brain as me as

30:35

far as like systems, but she brings

30:38

a very unique approach when it comes

30:38

to, the mindset side and also the

30:42

like aligning with yourself as a human. And then Erica painters.

30:45

She's just so freaking relatable. She's got, she's just amazing

30:47

growth in her business.

30:50

She started inside a breakthrough. I want to say almost two years ago

30:52

or maybe a year and a half ago.

30:55

And she literally has implemented

30:55

all parts of the program.

30:57

She has proven, she shows up to calls.

31:00

And so when we had students applying

31:00

for the breakthrough coach, it was

31:03

a no-brainer me and Brooke decided

31:03

that that too, it was so Erica

31:07

will help with a coaching call. She'll be helping with some homework

31:08

reviews, so on and so forth.

31:11

Because remember when I shared, at the very beginning, I was dropping the ball on my own stuff.

31:14

And if I can have someone helping

31:14

me with that kind of stuff.

31:17

That's going to allow me the

31:17

space to create better lessons.

31:21

For example, when I was hiring all

31:21

these people, I was going through and

31:24

creating like a new lesson on like, like

31:24

I just created a new asset inside of

31:28

breakthrough for, when you're changing

31:28

your employer, your, your team members.

31:32

Status. Like if they, after. They're getting promoted

31:33

or a new pay raise. I gave him like the document that I use.

31:37

So like, I can create that

31:37

stuff when I have space.

31:39

So it's so important to bring another coach in. And so I meet with her actually

31:41

today to do some training,

31:43

which I'm very excited about. And she's going to be taking over some of

31:45

the calls, but it's so cool to have that.

31:48

So we had to onboard her into breakthrough

31:48

and onboarder into every part of like the

31:52

workflow queen that she needs access to. And then the other two hires that I made

31:54

were a bookkeeper, an account manager.

31:58

And the funny thing is I really

31:58

didn't like essentially hire them

32:02

and I'll tell you why, and this

32:02

is why this is freaking genius.

32:04

And I tell this to students all the

32:04

time, but this is the first time

32:07

I've actually done it for myself. So.

32:10

If you're stressed the hell out and

32:10

you're really need a bookkeeper, or

32:13

you really need an account manager. Uh, reach out to your community.

32:17

People. I tell this to our breakthrough

32:17

students all the time.

32:20

Ask inside the Facebook

32:20

group to see, Hey guys.

32:23

Do any of your team members that work

32:23

for you need extra hours that you just

32:27

can't give to them, that you would be

32:27

willing to share that team member with

32:30

me for like five to 10 hours a week. And they're totally your team member.

32:34

Like I'm not going to steal

32:34

them from you, like whatever.

32:36

And I tell people this all the time, but for the first time ever actually did it for myself.

32:40

So I'm living proof that it's possible and

32:40

there's light at the end of the tunnel.

32:43

So I really needed to bring in an

32:43

account manager and a bookkeeper.

32:46

A bookkeeper because, one of

32:46

my bookkeepers is just not

32:49

ready for more advanced stuff. So I needed someone with

32:50

more advanced knowledge. And then I wanted an account manager

32:52

because I was doing some account

32:55

management for some of our clients. I needed to get out of that.

32:58

Like, I don't want to give feedback. I don't want to be involved.

33:00

I just want to be in the

33:00

sales only in magnetic.

33:03

And I was actually talking to Brooke

33:03

Swan on the phone, which is really funny.

33:07

And we were talking and she was

33:07

like, you know, what's really funny.

33:09

Actually. I have two team members

33:10

that want more hours. And I just can't give it to them

33:12

because like, you know, they're

33:14

just, they're going through a

33:14

transition right now in the business.

33:17

And she's like, and I don't want

33:17

to lose them as a team member.

33:19

What if I let you use them? And then.

33:23

You just pay them separate for the hours. And I was like, oh my God,

33:24

that's freaking genius. One.

33:27

Brooke has the same systems as me. Like we, I, we built out her

33:29

notion, but it has changed.

33:32

Her notion has changed over time. So it might be a little different

33:34

from mine, but we both use a sauna.

33:36

We both use content snare. We have so many similarities

33:38

and I was like, holy ****

33:40

I didn't even think about that. So that's all to say.

33:43

That we worked something out and I told

33:43

the two team members I met both of them,

33:47

the bookkeeper and account manager who's

33:47

working for currently for Brooks Swan.

33:51

At her firm. And I said, look, I will you use

33:52

you guys up until the point where

33:56

like Brooke can fulfill your

33:56

full hours that you guys want.

33:59

I'm not going to take offense to it. I just need you guys temporarily.

34:02

So in that conversation and

34:02

in that negotiation, we.

34:05

talked about what kind of

34:05

role I wanted them to play.

34:08

I also asked that both of them

34:08

document the SLPs, which they're very

34:11

familiar with because they use the

34:11

same process as Brook, which is cool

34:14

because I have worked with Brooke for

34:14

so many years on like, you know, I've

34:17

helped her with some of her SOP stuff. She also helped me with some

34:19

stuff we've helped each other.

34:22

And so like, our brains are very similar. So AKA their team is going to know

34:23

how I operate, which is super cool.

34:27

And so this is all for me to share with

34:27

you a unique approach to actually hiring.

34:31

If you don't have the brain space,

34:31

Y try to go down the rabbit hole.

34:35

Why not post in a Facebook group and be

34:35

like, does any one of you guys, especially

34:38

if like, if you're in breakthrough,

34:38

especially because you guys have the same

34:42

system as like what we use in my own firm.

34:44

Then, like, it's going to be a lot

34:44

easier bringing those people on.

34:47

Will you still be missing stuff? Yes. Well, you probably have your

34:49

sauna set up a little different.

34:51

Yes. Well, you probably have your

34:51

keeper set up different of course.

34:54

But at the end of the day, it's the

34:54

concepts it's knowing that you don't

34:57

have to train someone from scratch. It's knowing and trusting the person that

34:59

you're borrowing the team members from.

35:03

Knowing that like they are trained

35:03

and you don't have to like,

35:07

have to like start from scratch. And so I'm sharing that today

35:09

because I feel like it's

35:12

such a unique approach that. I tell my students all the time,

35:14

but I never have done it for myself.

35:16

And now I'm that living

35:16

experience that it works.

35:19

And so I met with them last Friday. I took the weekend to actually outsource

35:21

everything, get everything documented.

35:25

I got everything ready to go for them. So that by the time that they got there

35:27

on Monday, I had a lot of like structure

35:30

already there, but there were certain

35:30

things that I need to still put in place.

35:33

So I worked really hard on the

35:33

weekend, which is, like I said,

35:35

I'm back in the business guys. I'm like back at this point where

35:36

I'm back on the weekends and it's.

35:39

Exhausting. But now I'm seeing the light

35:40

at the end of the tunnel. So they took over.

35:43

And so now I'm not involved in

35:43

any of the bookkeeping, any of

35:46

the account management at all. And now I'm strictly just

35:48

sales and they're taking over

35:50

everything, which is super cool. They're going to work

35:52

with the bookkeepers. We have a dedicated slack

35:53

channel that we're all in.

35:56

It's just, I'm so thankful.

35:59

So that's like my experience

35:59

hiring like five people at once.

36:02

I had a mental breakdown last Friday. I'm going to be super

36:04

honest with you guys. And I felt the overwhelm.

36:07

All of a sudden it hit me

36:07

and guys I'm so grateful.

36:10

This is why I'm telling you like my

36:10

experience of my breakdowns and my

36:13

experience of what I'm struggling

36:13

with is different forms at different

36:17

stages in my business, because. I literally have an internal

36:19

training program that like my

36:23

workflow queen team goes through. So I at least didn't have the pressure

36:24

of having to teach Brooke white.

36:28

How to know how to create

36:28

SOP is how to navigate our

36:30

sauna and do this and do that. And then for Mackenzie already

36:32

had things documented also for the

36:35

bookkeeper, an account manager. I had a lot of things documented,

36:36

except for I was missing a

36:39

couple of pieces for the coach. I already had like a process in place.

36:43

Even though I had all those things guys,

36:43

and I had all the systems and all the

36:46

things I was still overwhelmed and it's

36:46

because I was still missing certain links.

36:51

And I was just feeling a little

36:51

bit off if that makes sense.

36:54

So I want to just share with you guys

36:54

that it's going to make it look different.

36:57

You might just feel overwhelmed because

36:57

you don't have any documentation.

37:00

I will tell you, you don't need

37:00

documentation in order to hire,

37:04

you can hire and figure it out. Like you don't have to

37:06

have everything in place. When I hired Brooke white, I told her, I

37:08

said, I don't want to control anything.

37:11

I'm actually not going to. Give you anything like you're

37:12

going to set up your own tasks.

37:16

You're going to do your own **** I

37:16

don't want to control what you do.

37:19

You tell me what I need to do. When I show up to calls, I

37:20

am tired of making decisions

37:23

and she was so cool about it. And it was just so awesome to hear

37:24

that someone who can guide me.

37:28

Because I didn't want to control that role. Like I, I'm just tired of like controlling

37:29

and deciding for everyone else.

37:33

And so I just let that go and it's

37:33

been so beautiful watching her.

37:36

You know, there's times where I step in and I'm like, oh, I feel like we can make the notion look like this.

37:39

Cause it would be more, more efficient

37:39

because she doesn't know notion.

37:42

So like I'm, you know, showing

37:42

her some cool, Tactics and stuff.

37:45

Hey, I think we should probably organize

37:45

the email like this because I do have

37:48

some efficiency, knowledge and whatnot.

37:51

And so I know this is like going on

37:51

like a big tangent in ramble, but I

37:54

hope this resonates with you because

37:54

I do know what it's like to like

37:57

hire so many people at one time. And five is a lot and I was overwhelmed

37:59

and I cried and I called my friend.

38:04

And I freaking just lost it and was

38:04

just like, I'm so overwhelmed right now,

38:08

trying to get these new people hired. Even though I've got

38:09

all the things in place. Like I just like feel the overwhelm

38:11

because I have to like, meet with

38:14

them and talk to them and get ready. And then to top it off guys, and

38:16

this is totally self-inflicted.

38:19

I'm also leaving for Europe

38:19

in like literally a week.

38:22

So the Europe trip came up because a

38:22

client of mine asked if I wanted to go

38:25

meet with her in Amsterdam as a joke.

38:27

But then I was like, dude, don't joke because I will seriously go. And she was like, no way.

38:30

And I was like, for real, And so that

38:30

night I actually had, it was the second

38:33

day that Brooke white was with me. I called her and I was like, so you're

38:34

going to learn a couple things about me.

38:38

I like to travel on the fly. When people like, just say

38:39

things I'm going to do it.

38:42

Like I'm a fly by the seat

38:42

of my pants type of person.

38:44

And I can just take off whenever I want. And I said, I know this is only

38:46

day two, but I just got offered by

38:49

a client to meet her in Amsterdam. And I'd really love for us to chat about.

38:52

Really looking at flights before I

38:52

decide if I really want to go through.

38:56

And so this offer to go to Europe

38:56

was literally two weeks ago.

39:00

And we got on a call with

39:00

my new team member, Brooke.

39:03

And we like looked at flights

39:03

and I was like, perfect.

39:05

I'm going, like, I already convinced

39:05

myself, I'm going to Amsterdam.

39:08

I'm going to meet up with my client. And so on and so forth.

39:11

And so from that moment, That's when

39:11

we were like, okay, well, how long

39:15

have I got to be there originally? It was supposed to be a week.

39:17

And then I was like, I'm not about

39:17

to go fly and travel for 17 hours

39:21

and not just do a whole trip.

39:23

Right. Last time I went to

39:23

Europe, I went for a month. I think I ended up planning for

39:25

a month and I went for 21 days.

39:28

And so I was like, I'm just going

39:28

to go ahead and block off the week.

39:31

So then I was going to just do. You know, parts of Europe for a week.

39:34

So partly Amsterdam with

39:34

her, like half of the time.

39:36

And then the other half was going to be somewhere else. And then I was like, I want more time.

39:40

So then it turned into two weeks and

39:40

then it turned into two and a half weeks.

39:43

And then as of yesterday, it's turned into

39:43

three weeks of me being, going to Europe.

39:47

So the reason I share this is because

39:47

I'm actually fully out of office guys.

39:49

Like I am not working. I will have my computer because like

39:51

me and my client want to do some,

39:54

like she's turned into a friend guy. She's like, I'm sure all of us have

39:55

that one consulting client that we

39:58

don't even talk about reports to. That you're like obsessed

40:00

with that is my client.

40:02

Her name is Mara and she's

40:02

just so freaking cool.

40:05

And, we plan to do some like high

40:05

level, like strategy together.

40:09

Like some marketing things we want to do. Like she's bringing her camera so

40:11

we could do a photo shoot there.

40:13

Cause she's a photographer. So we're going to get some brand photos.

40:16

Like we do plan to do some work

40:16

ish stuff, but I'm not going

40:19

to be responding to emails. I will not look at my slack.

40:21

I am not going to go into my Asana. I'm not doing any tasks.

40:24

So I'm fully unplugged fully

40:24

out of office for three weeks.

40:27

Starting next Wednesday, which

40:27

I'm very, very excited about.

40:30

And so how in the hell am I prepping

40:30

for Europe while hiring five people

40:36

and also hiring this new like

40:36

assistant, and then also recognizing

40:39

that I need to have help one guys.

40:41

This is where I'm explaining to

40:41

you, even though I'm overwhelmed, I

40:44

could still unplug for three weeks. I am so grateful.

40:48

That I have worked so hard

40:48

to create the right systems.

40:51

I just feel like when I'm here, I feel

40:51

obligated to have to do something.

40:55

And so I need to change that

40:55

mindset because like, when I remove

40:58

myself more and more as a CEO,

40:58

I shouldn't have to do anything.

41:01

Right. But like, I'm not there yet.

41:03

I'm just not I'm, I've been pulled

41:03

back in and I feel like I, anyways,

41:07

Europe came at the most perfect time

41:07

because one it's going to give all

41:11

of my people that I just hired the

41:11

opportunity to operate without me.

41:15

Because if you put yourself in a situation. Where you're there.

41:18

They're going to ask you questions. If you're not there, they're

41:19

going to figure it out.

41:21

I promise you all

41:21

the **** that people ask you.

41:24

In slack or email and your team

41:24

members are asking all these things.

41:27

If you remove yourself from the

41:27

picture, they will figure it out.

41:30

They're smart humans. You literally hired them.

41:32

Right. So Europe is an opportunity for

41:33

me to step away and let them

41:36

flourish in their own capacity. And like, yes, there's a person in charge.

41:39

The person in charge is Mackenzie. While I'm out of office.

41:42

If anybody needs direct logins, they

41:42

can literally reach out to Brooke white.

41:45

Everybody knows how to get ahold of everyone. And this is what we do a

41:47

part of our vacation process.

41:49

So we have like a notion page as

41:49

well, that like documents when

41:53

they're allowed to reach out to me,

41:53

which really is only if like our

41:56

Facebook ads account gets hacked. If our bank account goes negative,

41:57

if payroll doesn't get ran, other

42:00

than that, do not talk to me. They. They could talk to me like via like

42:02

my personal ID to be like, Hey, I hope

42:05

your trip is great, but they are not

42:05

allowed to ask me about the business.

42:08

And so they will figure it out. Everything's going to be fine.

42:11

Brooke White has all my

42:11

master log in passwords.

42:13

And so she can help anybody

42:13

get access to what they need.

42:17

And so I'm sharing this because

42:17

the prep for Europe is different.

42:21

Every time that I take a long-term leave

42:21

because I've already done, guys, this is

42:24

now going to be my third like long-term

42:24

out of office trip and I've taken so

42:29

many, like short-term ones that I fully

42:29

unplugged from that I'm so used to it

42:34

that like, it gets easier every time.

42:36

And so the prep, yes. While I am hiring all these people.

42:39

I also know everything's going to be

42:39

fine and like, it's going to be okay.

42:42

And like, my prep looks like

42:42

making sure the Asana task or

42:45

outsource to the right people. And that I have a designated

42:47

person on the team. That's running all the team meetings

42:48

that has conversations with people that I

42:52

teach the people how to delegate what they

42:52

need to the permissions, to everything.

42:56

And so I'm super excited for Europe.

42:58

I'm going to start in, Bruge Belgium

42:58

and then from Belgium, I'm going

43:02

to go three hours up to Amsterdam.

43:04

I'll be with my client for about five days. And then from there, I don't

43:06

know what I'm going to do for the last two and a half weeks.

43:09

My plan is probably Italy

43:09

to go to the Amalfi coast.

43:13

Maybe Florence. I might want to go to Greece

43:14

this time, but I'm just going

43:16

to let it be exactly what it is. And I'm just so grateful that I

43:18

have all these people, but I wanted

43:21

to share with you guys that like,

43:21

Yes, I'm taking off for Europe.

43:24

Yes, I'm very excited. But at the same time, there are

43:25

some things that even in one week,

43:28

I literally leave next week, this

43:28

same day that I'm recording this.

43:31

I still have a lot of prep I have to do. And so like, don't let that stop you.

43:35

I know I'm going to be fine next week. Everything will be outsourced just

43:36

recognize that I can walk away because

43:40

I'm not the only one in the company. And so like, this is just to tell you guys

43:42

to remember, to take a step back and say,

43:45

if you want the type of life where if an

43:45

emergency happens, or you want to go take

43:50

a impromptu vacation or just a vacation

43:50

in general, or step away with your family.

43:55

You need to bring people

43:55

on to support you?

43:57

Yes. Could you send an email to your clients

43:57

and be like, I'm going to be out of

43:59

office for three weeks, but I don't

43:59

think my clients would be very happy

44:03

about me leaving for three weeks. So. That is why I have the team.

44:06

And this is why I tell my, clients

44:06

do not email me email our support,

44:09

because if I'm in Europe, I'm

44:09

not going to respond to you.

44:11

Like I want to make sure

44:11

that they get taken care of.

44:14

So the whole message of this podcast

44:14

episode is just to share with you

44:17

guys that no matter the stage in

44:17

business, you're still going to

44:20

experience your highs and lows. prepping for vacation.

44:23

Doesn't have to be super complicated,

44:23

even though it's a lot of work hiring.

44:26

A bunch of people at once is

44:26

probably not the right decision.

44:29

I probably wouldn't do it again. To be honest, even though I have

44:30

a lot of systems in place, I

44:32

feel like even I was overwhelmed. If you don't have any systems

44:33

at all, hiring five at one

44:36

time is not going to be fun. And then also recognizing

44:38

when it's time to reach out.

44:40

And that could be like reaching out

44:40

to a therapist that can be reaching

44:42

out to experts in the industry. Like someone like me, like leaning

44:44

on support, like being a part

44:47

of programs that support you. Asking other people, if you could

44:49

borrow their team members, obviously

44:51

you're going to pay the team

44:51

members, but you get the point.

44:54

Anyways. I feel like I just went on a tangent. I hope you enjoyed this episode.

44:57

If any of it resonated or you

44:57

want to talk through anything.

45:00

Please feel free to reach out to

45:00

me on Instagram @workflowqueen.

45:03

Like I said, it's the only place

45:03

I actually respond when I'm out of

45:06

office, because I actually truly like

45:06

to have conversations with you guys.

45:09

I love to do voice notes. I love to talk back and

45:11

forth with you guys. My social media management company

45:13

pretty much operates our Instagram, but

45:16

they nudge me when it's time for me to

45:16

come in and like, you know, have combo.

45:19

So if you guys send me a direct

45:19

message, And it's personal.

45:23

I'm going to know, and I'm going

45:23

to be able to respond to you.

45:25

If you send me an email following up on

45:25

this, just know that I will respond, but

45:28

I'll wait until I get back from Europe. My team will acknowledge your

45:30

email, but I'm so excited.

45:33

Like I said, Instagram is probably the best. If you want, you can follow my journey.

45:36

I'll probably be sharing most

45:36

of it on my personal Instagram,

45:38

which is, HeyAlyssaLang. so that's on Instagram, HeyAlyssaLang.

45:42

and, and you are welcome to follow me around. And I'm so excited that

45:44

you joined on this episode.

45:46

And let me know if there's any way I can support you.
