1:16
2016, Bianca Carrasco was taking her
1:18
independence back after separating from her
1:20
husband Joe Daniel. But
1:23
he said one night she stormed off after an
1:25
argument and he never heard from her again. And
1:28
since then, her family has been
1:30
asking, where is Bianca? I'm Charlie
1:32
and welcome to Crimelines. Welcome
1:42
to Crimelines or Welcome Back and welcome
1:44
to this week's episode. I have a
1:46
couple of thank yous for this episode
1:49
I need to send out. One
1:51
is to Hailey Gray from Hailey Gray
1:53
Research. Once again, thank you for
1:55
introducing me to this case. I love how
1:58
Hailey has turned her passion for research. research
2:00
into advocacy for so many
2:02
of these unsolved cases. She
2:05
has done incredible work with this one and
2:07
provided me with the foundational research that I
2:09
used in making this episode. I
2:11
also want to send a huge thanks to
2:13
Bianca's sister, Giovanna, for looking over the script
2:16
and hopping on a call with me just
2:18
to make sure that everything presented was first
2:20
of all accurate and second, it caused the
2:23
least amount of negative impact to those who
2:25
have been left to pick up the pieces.
2:28
And also another huge thank you to Bianca's friend
2:30
Julie, who also took a look at the script
2:32
and helped me tweak a few
2:35
things, again, making sure everything was
2:37
accurate. Today we're talking about
2:39
Bianca Carrasco, who was born in July of 1986
2:41
in Odessa, Texas. When
2:45
she and her sister were young, they
2:47
ended up moving across the state to
2:49
the Houston area and that's where
2:51
they grew up, mostly under the care of
2:53
their father. Their
2:55
father was not interested in them
2:58
maintaining much of a relationship with
3:00
their mother or even their extended
3:02
relatives on that side of the
3:04
family. But the sisters, they
3:06
had each other and they were very close.
3:10
Bianca eventually had the chance to reconnect with
3:12
her mother when she was around 18, but
3:16
it was through a domino of
3:18
events that led to it. Her
3:21
father was very strict, so when Bianca got
3:23
pregnant at 17, he sent her to live
3:25
with someone else. She
3:28
then placed that baby for adoption
3:30
and it is my impression that
3:33
this wasn't entirely Bianca's choice, but
3:35
rather something she was pressured
3:37
into doing. It
3:40
was after this loss, with a broken
3:42
heart, that Bianca moved to Odessa so
3:44
that she could be with her mom
3:46
and connect with that side of her
3:49
family. I'm sure she was looking
3:51
for a type of support she didn't think
3:53
she could find back at home. This
3:56
didn't turn out to be the grand reunion.
3:58
She had hoped for it. Bianca's
4:01
mother had long dealt with
4:03
substance abuse and
4:05
being the child of an
4:07
addicted parent is emotionally complicated.
4:11
Bianca was trying to navigate it while
4:13
also trying to build a relationship with
4:15
her mother while also trying to heal
4:18
from the aftermath of the adoption.
4:21
And it was during this timeframe in
4:23
2004 that 18-year-old Bianca met 29-year-old Joe
4:25
Daniel Carrasco.
4:30
The connection to Daniel was a little
4:33
messy. He had been
4:35
married to Bianca's aunt, so
4:37
he was technically her ex-uncle.
4:40
There are some rumors that he and Bianca started
4:42
seeing each other while he was still with her
4:44
aunt, but I wanted to
4:47
spell that. While it may seem like
4:49
more of an unsavory story if we
4:51
let that fly, the truth
4:53
is it doesn't work with the timeline at
4:56
all. The two had separated
4:58
already due to another issue in
5:00
their marriage, and they
5:02
were finalizing their divorce when
5:04
Daniel and Bianca started dating.
5:07
One of the things Bianca saw
5:09
in Daniel was the promise of
5:11
stability. She went from her strict
5:13
father's home to being pressured into
5:16
placing a child for adoption only
5:18
to then have her reunion with her mother not
5:21
go as well as she had hoped. At
5:24
Daniel, he had a decent job, and
5:26
at 29, he was more established than
5:29
Bianca could imagine being at 18. She
5:33
wanted to feel safe and protected
5:35
and cared for, and Daniel promised
5:37
all that. Daniel and
5:39
Bianca had two children together early
5:41
in their relationship, and then they
5:44
got married. And while those kids
5:46
were still pretty young, Bianca went
5:48
to Odessa College for a licensed
5:50
vocational nursing program. In most states,
5:53
this is known as a licensed
5:55
practical nurse, and it's the same
5:57
thing and the same license, just two different names
5:59
for it. This was
6:01
one of those programs where you go
6:03
for 12 months straight
6:05
without any long breaks in between,
6:08
and it was in this program that she met
6:10
her friend Julie who I have been in touch
6:13
with for this episode. Spending
6:15
pretty much every weekday together for
6:17
months meant Julie and Bianca became
6:20
very close. They
6:22
lived near each other, they were
6:24
both moms, and so they studied
6:26
together, drove to class and clinicals
6:28
together, and then even after their
6:30
graduation in 2009, they went
6:32
to work at the same hospital. Bianca
6:35
was very caring and organized, which
6:37
are two skills definitely needed in
6:39
nursing. But she
6:41
was also fun and loved music and
6:43
joking around, which really helped put the
6:45
patients at ease. Bianca
6:47
was working in the field for a couple
6:50
of years before having a third child, and
6:52
then she and Daniel decided to pack
6:54
up the kids and move their family to
6:56
San Antonio. In San Antonio,
6:58
they bought a house, and Bianca
7:01
enrolled in nursing school yet again,
7:03
this time to become a registered
7:05
nurse. She would be
7:07
able to do more in her
7:10
nursing career while also increasing her
7:12
salary potential once she finished. Bianca
7:15
juggled school while caring for her three
7:17
small children, and this could not have
7:19
been easy because Daniel worked in the
7:22
oil fields. That meant he
7:24
was gone for a week and then came home
7:26
for a week and then he was gone again.
7:29
But Bianca got things done and she was
7:31
able to manage it all. The
7:33
only thing that didn't seem to be
7:35
going well was her relationship with Daniel.
7:39
Their marriage, which was never
7:41
completely smooth sailing, reportedly got
7:43
a lot rockier after the
7:45
move to San Antonio. With
7:48
Bianca getting an education and establishing
7:50
a career as their three children
7:52
got older, she was also getting
7:54
more independent. She was
7:56
no longer that 18-year-old looking for someone
7:58
to guide her and- and shape her
8:00
along her way. We
8:03
do so much growing and developing
8:05
in our 20s. So
8:08
when people marry in their late teens or
8:10
their early 20s, or at least one of
8:12
them is that young, growing
8:14
apart is a common issue and
8:16
it definitely happened here. Their
8:19
lives were separating. And around the
8:21
time of Bianca's graduation from nursing
8:23
school, they made the separation official
8:26
for their marriage. Well, sort of.
8:29
They emotionally separated and they were
8:31
no longer presenting themselves as a
8:33
married couple. Bianca even
8:35
changed her Facebook relationship status
8:38
to divorced. But since
8:40
they owned a house together and Daniel was gone
8:42
at least 50% of the time anyway, they
8:46
continued to share their living space. It
8:49
was a matter of making nice for the sake of
8:51
the kids when they were both home, but
8:53
outside of that, they really weren't
8:55
speaking. Bianca hadn't confided
8:57
in many people leading up to the
8:59
separation. So no one's quite sure exactly
9:01
when the decision was made. During
9:04
the separation, Bianca started expressing
9:06
some doubt that she could
9:09
support her three kids by
9:11
herself. She was
9:13
working as a nurse at a cancer
9:15
center, but thinking about going from being
9:17
a two income family to everything just
9:19
being on her shoulders was
9:22
overwhelming. Bianca told
9:24
her sister, Giovanna, that maybe the kids
9:26
would be better off living with Daniel
9:28
who had more resources. But
9:30
Giovanna talked her out of giving him custody
9:32
since it wasn't really what she wanted
9:35
to do. Giovanna was
9:37
able to reassure Bianca that as a
9:39
registered nurse, she could make more money.
9:42
The earning potential was there, especially
9:44
as she gained experience. She
9:46
just had to be patient as she looked for
9:48
a better paying job. So
9:51
Bianca tried to keep things together in
9:53
the home while she looked for that
9:55
career path that would allow her to
9:58
support her kids on just- her
10:00
income. But before she
10:02
could find that dream job, the
10:04
separated but living together situation fell
10:07
apart. In the spring
10:10
of 2016, Daniel decided he wanted to
10:13
work on their marriage. And for a
10:15
lot of people, that would mean something
10:17
like marital counseling. But for
10:19
Daniel, it meant quitting the job that took
10:21
him away from home, getting
10:23
a new job in San Antonio, and
10:25
then losing that job because he was
10:27
busy, allegedly stalking
10:30
Bianca. And I'm very
10:32
specifically calling this alleged
10:35
behavior stalking because
10:37
stalking isn't just following someone
10:39
around in a physical sense.
10:42
Stalking, according to RAINN, is
10:44
a pattern of repeated and
10:47
unwanted attention, harassment, contact, or
10:49
any other course of conduct
10:51
directed at a specific person
10:54
that would cause a reasonable
10:56
person to feel fear. And
11:00
this alleged behavior fits that
11:02
definition. On Wednesday, April 27,
11:06
2016, Daniel managed to get into Bianca's
11:08
phone to figure out who she had
11:10
been talking to. And
11:12
he ended up learning that she was seeing
11:15
a man we are going to call Jason.
11:18
Some media outlets say things like
11:21
Bianca was talking to other men,
11:23
but that doesn't appear to be
11:25
true. It was just Jason, a
11:28
singular man, and Bianca was pretty
11:30
serious about him. Media
11:32
outlets have also referred to Bianca's
11:34
relationship with Jason as an affair,
11:37
even though Daniel and Bianca were separated.
11:39
Now, it's up to you if you
11:41
think married but separated is too early
11:43
to start dating or not, but when
11:45
Daniel found out about it, he certainly
11:48
was not happy. In retaliation,
11:51
and in an attempt, in
11:53
my opinion, to limit Bianca's
11:55
options for leaving, Daniel
11:57
then emptied their joint bank account.
12:00
Bianca sent her sister a text
12:02
on April 28th telling her all
12:04
about it. All of the
12:06
money had been moved to an account that she did
12:08
not have access to. Bianca was
12:10
cut off from the money she had
12:12
been earning and without that money, how
12:14
could she leave? Daniel
12:17
also called Jason and told him
12:19
that Bianca was his wife and
12:21
they were not divorced yet. Jason
12:24
didn't know that Bianca was still
12:26
legally married and this seems
12:28
like a lie of omission on Bianca's
12:31
part that she didn't tell him that
12:33
they were separated but not
12:35
yet divorced. Jason
12:38
told Bianca he wasn't comfortable
12:40
continuing the relationship while she
12:42
was still technically married. There
12:50
are some stories from my uncle's life
12:52
that I truly never get tired of
12:55
hearing from hilarious to heartfelt, tear-jerking to
12:57
plot-twisting. His retelling of events always brings
12:59
me joy and just in time for
13:01
Father's Day, I found the perfect gift
13:03
that captures all of his stories for
13:05
my family forever. It's called StoryWorth. StoryWorth
13:08
helps you preserve precious memories and stories
13:10
from your father, grandfather, uncle for years
13:12
to come. StoryWorth makes this
13:15
process so easy. Each week, they email your
13:17
loved one with a thought-provoking question that you
13:19
get to help pick. I recommend sending them
13:21
the one did you get along with your
13:23
siblings because then you get a look at
13:25
the entire generation. Then all your loved one
13:27
needs to do is respond to that email
13:29
with a story long short, doesn't matter. After
13:31
that year of writing, StoryWorth compiles all of
13:34
these stories and even photos into a beautiful
13:36
keepsake hardcover book. It's a great heirloom to
13:38
pass down through the generations and you can
13:40
even keep a copy of the book for
13:42
yourself. We've already done StoryWorth with
13:44
a family member, so we've done the full
13:47
year and have the book. We
13:49
ended up ordering extras so that more people can
13:51
have them. We love to read the stories and
13:54
we find that they come up in everyday life
13:56
even though they're stories we didn't know until
13:58
we got that book. in
14:00
your life a unique heartfelt gift that you'll
14:02
all cherish for years, StoryWorth. Right now, save

14:17
to thank June's Journey for sponsoring this
14:19
podcast yet again, but also for sponsoring
14:21
my downtime because I love to play
14:23
this game, usually at night
14:25
while I'm trying to unwind. At
14:27
the core, June's Journey is a hidden
14:30
object mystery game. So you are finding
14:32
objects from the parlors of New York
14:34
to the sidewalks of Paris, all
14:37
while moving through this storyline, bringing you
14:39
back to the glamour of the 1920s.
14:42
You play as June Parker, who's
14:44
an amateur detective who is trying
14:46
to uncover a scandalous family secret.
14:49
And her job, which means it's your job,
14:51
is to uncover the truth behind the unexplained
14:54
death of her sister. And
14:56
while I love the hidden object part
14:58
of the game, I love how cleverly
15:00
they're hidden. I love how beautifully illustrated
15:02
the scenes are. The thing I actually
15:04
like the most about this game is
15:06
that whenever I open the app, ready
15:08
to unwind, there's always something to do.
15:11
Whether I am customizing my own
15:13
estate island, or I'm playing
15:15
with or against other players in
15:18
the detective club, or I'm collecting
15:20
scraps of information about the different
15:23
characters in the story, I never run
15:25
out of things to do. Whether
15:27
you're craving a good mystery or just looking for
15:29
an escape, discover your inner detective
15:32
when you download June's Journey for free today
15:35
on iOS and Android. And
15:44
then, according to Bianca's coworkers, Daniel
15:48
started threatening her over text.
15:51
These texts went to a new phone Bianca got since
15:54
she didn't trust the old one that Daniel
15:56
had managed to get into. And
15:58
in these texts... threatened to show up
16:00
at her work and he threatened to
16:03
kill her. One day she
16:05
even left work early hoping to avoid a
16:07
public confrontation. And after showing
16:09
her coworkers the text messages, Bianca
16:12
said if she went missing, they would
16:14
know what happened to her. So
16:17
something about Bianca is that she was a
16:19
little bit sassy and she had a bit
16:21
of a dark sense of humor at times.
16:24
And so it may have been a little
16:26
hard for her coworkers to judge in the
16:28
moment if she truly thought she might be
16:30
in danger or if she
16:33
was being a little hyperbolic with that
16:35
statement. But in hindsight, the
16:37
fact that I'm talking about her on
16:39
a true crime podcast is
16:41
worth mentioning. In
16:43
my opinion, everything Daniel was doing
16:46
was to undermine Bianca's will and
16:48
ability to divorce him. She
16:50
was already worried she couldn't take care
16:53
of the kids on her own and
16:55
Julie speculates that those seeds of doubt
16:57
may have been sown by Daniel. Then
17:00
he removed the financial means she
17:02
would need to move or hire
17:04
an attorney. Next, he
17:06
broke up the relationship Bianca
17:08
had been building during the
17:10
separation before he finally resorted
17:12
to scare tactics to keep
17:14
her stuck in the marriage.
17:17
But it all backfired. All
17:19
of this told Bianca she had to
17:22
get out sooner rather than later. She
17:24
spoke with a friend on April 30,
17:27
2016, and then again on May 1, and
17:29
mentioned that she was getting ready to
17:32
leave Daniel. The friend
17:34
asked Bianca what was going
17:36
on and she said that
17:38
Daniel had changed and he
17:40
was being controlling. She
17:42
was looking for a better paying job and wanted
17:44
to know if her friend's workplace was hiring. And
17:48
Daniel was aware that Bianca wanted
17:50
a divorce because she told him
17:52
that directly. There was no
17:54
reconciling no matter what he did to
17:57
try to make her stay. Sunday,
18:00
May 1, 2016, Bianca talked to
18:02
her sister, Jovana, on the phone
18:04
around 2 p.m. The
18:07
call was a bit of event session on
18:09
everything going on with Daniel, and Jovana even
18:11
offered to have the kids come stay with
18:13
her for a little bit to
18:15
just get them out of the house and away
18:18
from the arguing. Bianca said it
18:20
would be fine because she had an appointment on May
18:22
6 to meet with the divorce
18:24
attorney. Daniel had to left her
18:26
feeling like she wouldn't be able to support the kids
18:28
on her own, so she wanted
18:31
to talk to a lawyer about her
18:33
options and what to expect. Her
18:35
primary concern going forward was the
18:38
custody of her kids. But
18:41
Jovana said that Bianca didn't seem too
18:43
stressed about it, so I think she
18:45
was able to see through Daniel's tactics
18:47
that made her feel like she had
18:49
few options. On
18:51
the same call, Bianca also told
18:53
Jovana about a weird thing that
18:55
happened. She was sleeping,
18:58
and around 2 a.m. she woke
19:00
up to find Daniel just standing
19:02
there over her and it really
19:04
creeped her out. This
19:07
was yet more motivation to
19:09
physically separate from Daniel. The
19:12
next day, on Monday, May 2, Jovana tried
19:14
to call Bianca, but the call went straight
19:16
to voicemail like her cell phone had been
19:18
turned off. So Jovana
19:21
called the office where Bianca worked and
19:23
they said Bianca hadn't come in that
19:25
day. She was on the schedule and
19:27
it wasn't like her to not call
19:29
or show up. So
19:31
then Jovana called Daniel to check to
19:34
see if everything was okay. She
19:36
reached him later in the evening and he
19:39
told Jovana that he hadn't seen Bianca since
19:41
the night before. He said
19:43
that they had gotten into a nasty fight
19:45
on Sunday night after Bianca had put the
19:47
kids to bed and eventually Bianca
19:50
just stormed out of the house on
19:52
foot, presumably to go cool
19:54
off. And here's
19:56
where it gets a little weird. According
19:58
to the Charlie Project, Daniel said he
20:00
left for work with their youngest child,
20:02
who was four years old at the
20:04
time, and he left the
20:07
other two kids home alone sleeping. As
20:10
he was driving towards work, he
20:12
said he saw Bianca walking down
20:14
the street. Giovanna
20:16
told the Murder Diaries podcast that she
20:18
asked Daniel why he left the two
20:20
other kids alone. It's not like they
20:23
were teenagers. They were nine and ten.
20:26
He said that he thought Bianca was walking
20:28
back to the house. Now
20:31
there were a number of reasons Giovanna
20:33
didn't believe Daniel. For one, it really
20:35
wasn't in Bianca's character to storm off
20:37
like that, particularly when it
20:40
meant going out for a walk
20:42
after dark. But the most
20:44
glaring issue was that Daniel said he left to
20:46
go to work. But what work?
20:49
As far as Giovanna knew, he was
20:51
unemployed at the time. And
20:53
even if he wasn't, what kind of job
20:55
did he have that he could take a
20:58
small child with him, but only the one,
21:00
leaving the other two home alone? The
21:03
next morning on May 3, when Bianca
21:05
didn't show up for work again, her
21:07
supervisor called Giovanna and let her know.
21:10
Giovanna was going to go ahead and call
21:13
the police, but before she did, she wanted
21:15
to talk to Daniel one more time. And
21:18
he told Giovanna that he didn't think they should
21:20
report Bianca missing because she left on her own
21:22
and she was probably just off with another man.
21:25
But he admitted when Giovanna asked
21:27
about it that Bianca had left
21:29
her purse, her car, and all
21:32
of her belongings behind. And
21:34
most notably for Bianca's family, she left
21:37
her children behind. So
21:39
that's when Giovanna called the San
21:41
Antonio police to report her sister
21:43
missing. They then referred
21:46
her to the Houston police, which is
21:48
where she lived, and they went out
21:50
to take a report. They
21:53
asked her why Bianca's husband hadn't called,
21:55
and she said she didn't know, so
21:58
the officer called Daniel right there on
22:00
the spot. And according to
22:02
what Giovanna told the Murder Diaries podcast,
22:05
Daniel told them they had the wrong number
22:07
and hung up on them. Daniel
22:10
did eventually talk to the police and he
22:12
told them much the same story that he
22:14
had already given Giovanna. According
22:16
to the police report, he told them that
22:18
Bianca had an affair and
22:21
had given him back her wedding ring.
22:24
Giovanna later clarified on Facebook that
22:26
the ring part wasn't true. But
22:29
with a story of a possible affair
22:31
out there, the police did go speak
22:34
with Jason. They wanted
22:36
to know if he knew anything or had
22:38
heard from Bianca. He was
22:40
out of town at the time they went
22:42
to his house, but his mother was there
22:44
and she told the police that a woman
22:46
with brown hair had been at the house
22:48
on Saturday, April 30th. She
22:51
stayed late until 4 a.m. on Sunday
22:53
morning, at which time her husband picked
22:55
her up. This seemed
22:57
like a promising lead at first,
23:00
but they were soon able to
23:02
confirm with Jason that the
23:04
woman was not Bianca. It
23:06
was another close friend of his, but
23:08
the description the police had given her
23:11
was vague enough that it fit both
23:13
Bianca and this other woman. Jason
23:16
said he didn't know anything about Bianca's
23:18
disappearance and the last he had heard
23:20
from her was on Sunday night. The
23:23
police also tried to ping Bianca's phone, but
23:26
they found that it was not turned on.
23:28
But it was using her phone records that
23:31
they did have that they were able to
23:33
build a timeline for the day leading up
23:35
to Bianca's disappearance. After
23:37
talking to Giovanna that Sunday, Bianca ran
23:39
some errands and texted her daughter while
23:41
she was out. She then
23:44
got home before 8 p.m. to put the kids
23:46
to bed and then at 8.08 p.m.
23:49
she texted Jason and
23:51
then at 8.38 p.m. she called him, though
23:54
it's not clear if she actually
23:56
spoke with him. At
23:58
10.22 p.m., Bianca's phone
24:00
powered down and then it was never
24:03
turned back on. Based
24:05
on the cell tower records, the phone
24:07
was at or near her home when
24:09
it went offline. At
24:11
the same time Bianca's phone was turned off,
24:14
Daniel made a call from his own cell
24:16
phone. Unfortunately, we don't have
24:18
much information on that call or
24:20
anything else from Daniel's cell phone.
24:23
The police are holding back that
24:25
information, which is pretty frustrating. As
24:28
the family has set up searches over the
24:30
years, knowing where Daniel's phone was would
24:33
really aid in these searches as
24:35
Daniel was and is the best
24:38
lead they had. On
24:40
May 3rd, a beyond the lookout
24:43
was put out for Bianca and
24:45
her missing person status was soon
24:47
upgraded to at risk. Then
24:50
on May 4th, someone at
24:52
the daycare Bianca's youngest child
24:54
attended called Child Protective Services.
24:57
The report said that the worker was
24:59
aware Bianca was missing and was concerned
25:01
for the safety of her children. Daniel
25:04
had admitted that he left to
25:06
go to work with the youngest
25:09
when his older kids were sleeping.
25:11
They had called him to let him know that
25:14
they had gotten up but Bianca wasn't there to
25:16
take them to school. He
25:18
explained that he couldn't leave work
25:20
until his 3pm break, but he
25:23
was working in Odessa. By
25:25
the time he drove all the way
25:27
back to San Antonio, he
25:29
couldn't have gotten home to his kids until
25:31
around 8pm. So
25:34
they had been home alone that
25:36
entire time. Because
25:38
of the concerns of domestic violence
25:40
in the home towards Bianca, who
25:43
was missing, and because
25:45
Daniel admitted he left his kids
25:47
home alone all day, CPS
25:49
asked Daniel for a parental
25:52
child safety placement. the
26:00
children could not safely live in the home, but
26:03
rather than pulling them and placing
26:06
them where CPS determined, Daniel was
26:08
given an opportunity to
26:10
choose somewhere for the kids to live
26:13
while CPS investigated. There
26:16
was some back and forth with this, but eventually they
26:18
ended up being placed with Bianca's sister,
26:20
Giovanna, while the CPS
26:23
investigation continued. And
26:25
of course, the investigation into
26:27
Bianca's disappearance also continued. Information
26:30
on Bianca was sent out to media
26:32
outlets and flyers were handed out and
26:34
posted around town. And this
26:36
information given out included a description
26:38
of what Bianca was last seen
26:41
wearing. Since Daniel was
26:43
the last one to see her as
26:45
she supposedly left for this walk, he
26:47
was the source of this information. Daniel
26:50
said Bianca was wearing a
26:52
blue denim jacket, multicolored leggings
26:54
that were in various shades
26:57
of pastel and
26:59
wedge shoes. She was
27:01
also carrying her pink Prada purse and
27:03
had a black Prada wallet with her.
27:06
This outfit didn't sound to those
27:08
who knew Bianca well, like anything
27:11
she would have been wearing, but
27:13
beyond that, it was a direct
27:15
contradiction to what Daniel had previously
27:17
told to Bianca's sister, Giovanna.
27:19
Giovanna had asked him straight out
27:21
what Bianca was last seen wearing,
27:23
and he told her he couldn't
27:26
remember. But then he came
27:28
up with something later when the police
27:30
asked him, and he described something that
27:32
those who know Bianca don't believe she
27:34
would have been walking around in. And
27:37
of course, the other issue was the purse
27:39
she was carrying. He had
27:41
told Giovanna that Bianca left her purse
27:43
behind, specifically saying she left it in
27:45
her car. But when the
27:47
police asked, he said she had it with her.
27:51
Without probable cause for a warrant,
27:53
the authorities would need Daniel's consent
27:55
to search the family home and
27:57
the vehicles, which he actually ended
27:59
up... giving them a few
28:01
days after Bianca was reported missing.
28:04
Daniel told the police he was moving out of
28:06
the house anyway since he couldn't afford to live
28:08
in it, and he consented
28:10
this search to happen before he
28:12
left. The family was
28:14
initially told that Daniel's vehicle was
28:16
also searched, but they've said they
28:19
have since learned that search didn't
28:21
actually happen. If these
28:23
searches generated any leads for the police,
28:25
we don't know because they have not
28:27
released that information. There
28:30
have been a number of other
28:32
searches, particularly of Bianca's neighborhood, and
28:34
Texas EquiSearch came in. This
28:37
organization is amazing and they do great
28:40
work. However, there is a limitation to
28:42
what they do that not
28:44
everyone is aware of. They
28:46
work with verified information only,
28:48
and that information almost always
28:50
has to come from law
28:52
enforcement. So they
28:55
came in and they searched in
28:57
and around Bianca's neighborhood since that
28:59
is where her phone last pinged.
29:02
The family had hoped to have
29:04
more searches done outside of the
29:06
immediate area, particularly along
29:09
the path Daniel drove that day
29:11
that he loaded up his four-year-old
29:13
and left his other kids home
29:15
alone. But when they
29:17
asked the police for Daniel's cell
29:19
phone tower information so they could
29:21
figure out what that area was,
29:24
the police said they could not release
29:26
it due to privacy concerns. As
29:29
for where Daniel said he was, he
29:31
told Andrew Loffholm with News 4 San
29:33
Antonio that he was out in
29:36
Odessa for work. Odessa
29:38
is a five-hour drive from San
29:40
Antonio. That's 340 miles and a lot of
29:42
land to cover without
29:45
more specific information on
29:48
which Rudy took and any off-the-beat
29:50
inside trips that he may have
29:52
taken. If Daniel had
29:54
done something to Bianca and she wasn't
29:56
intercepted by someone while she was out
29:58
for that walk then. night, the
30:01
search area was just far too
30:03
large to search without more information.
30:06
That information may be in his cell
30:08
phone records, which have not been released,
30:10
to those organizing the searches. On
30:13
the other hand, for all the family
30:15
knows, those phone records may exonerate Daniel
30:18
and show what was impossible for him
30:20
to have been involved in the time
30:22
frame he had. They
30:24
don't know because they're missing that
30:26
rather key piece of information. There
30:28
was something else Daniel said in
30:30
this brief interview with News for
30:32
San Antonio that stood out to
30:34
me. He said that
30:36
he was working in Odessa while they were
30:38
finalizing their divorce, but I
30:40
looked into this and they were not
30:42
finalizing anything. Like most states, Texas makes
30:44
this pretty easy to look up, and
30:47
no papers had been filed
30:49
before Bianca disappeared. And
30:52
Daniel didn't file for divorce himself until
30:54
July of 2023, and
30:57
by that point Bianca had been
30:59
missing for over seven years. Not
31:02
long after the News for San Antonio
31:04
piece ran, the police said they could
31:07
not rule out homicide in Bianca's case.
31:10
They've never named a suspect, though obviously
31:12
they were looking into both Daniel and
31:14
Jason as they were the two men
31:16
in her life. The
31:18
family was told that Jason has been
31:21
cleared, but he's the only person who
31:23
has. It's
31:25
the understanding of Bianca's family that though
31:27
Daniel did speak to the police in
31:29
the days after Bianca went missing, he
31:31
has not done so since. He
31:34
did agree to take a polygraph, but
31:36
then he talked to an attorney and
31:38
we know no attorney's going to advise
31:40
their client to take a police administered
31:42
lie detector test, so he ended up
31:44
not taking it. Daniel
31:46
has also not participated in any
31:48
searches, awareness campaigns to pass out
31:51
flyers, or anything else that other
31:53
people were doing to look for
31:55
Bianca. And then about six months
31:57
after Bianca's disappearance, Daniel got custody
32:00
of his kids back, and when
32:02
he did, he cut off Bianca's
32:04
family from contact. Since
32:07
Bianca's disappearance, no one in her family
32:09
has heard from her. Her
32:11
bank account has remained untouched and
32:13
was eventually closed with over $600
32:15
sitting in it. Bianca
32:17
has not renewed any license she
32:19
had, like her nursing license or
32:22
even her driver's license. There
32:24
has been no evidence that Bianca
32:27
has been staying away of her
32:29
own free will. At
32:31
the time she went missing, Bianca Carrasco
32:34
was 29 years old
32:36
and she would now be 37. She
32:39
had shoulder-length brown hair and
32:41
brown eyes. She is
32:43
5'1 and 125 pounds and she has two distinguishing marks, the
32:49
letter B tattooed on her hip and
32:51
a large surgical scar on her abdomen.
32:54
Dental records and DNA are on
32:57
file for Bianca in the event
32:59
unidentified remains are found. The
33:02
advocates in this case, including
33:04
her sister and her friend,
33:06
are asking people to share
