While I agree with the fact that there are benefits to expanding the types of plant that are edible to humans but that will hardly solve the problem to malnourishment around the world. Since the reason to that is mainly due to poor yield, shifting climates, increase of pests which led on by climate change. I do agree that GMO being managed properly could be the right way to solve it and innovation in that sector need to be continuous so that it would not be overtaken by increased resistance from said problem.
