moving, gotta get back up one
0:20
How are ya? Come
0:22
on in Let's
0:24
have a conversation today It's
0:27
just me There's
0:29
no guests here, it's just me, kinda talking
0:31
that way But here's what I want you
0:33
to imagine I want you to imagine you and I are in front of
0:35
each other I'm leaving you
0:37
space to talk back to me I'm hearing what you're saying
0:39
as we go through the show today Kinda paying
0:42
attention to you So
0:44
let's have a two way conversation even if you're there and I'm
0:46
here, huh? I have
0:48
two things I want to bring to your attention today One
0:51
is, from a call I
0:53
had this morning where the word friction came up
0:55
It was kind of interesting, I'll explain that to you And
0:57
then if I could ask you four questions and if we
1:00
couldn't solve the question What's your
1:02
purpose and passion in life? If I could
1:04
ask you four questions and by the end
1:06
of those four questions just hearing the questions
1:09
You'd be thinking differently, would that be okay? Are you willing to
1:12
go that? Do you have the courage to do that? Well
1:15
if so, hang around, we're gonna do that today It
1:18
is the Daily Boost from Motivation to
1:21
move.com Happy to have you here today, you
1:23
know Ever
1:25
since I've been a kid, I always
1:27
wondered why it was so hard You
1:31
ever think, you ever wonder why things are so hard?
1:34
It made never made sense to me, it was like, oh, I got this
1:36
idea I'm excited, I have this idea, I want
1:38
to do something, go to bed I can hardly even sleep because
1:40
I want to get up and get to work on my idea
1:44
And then I start to work on my idea and suddenly it's
1:46
hard Suddenly I don't have
1:48
the time, don't have the money, no support, nobody will let me
1:50
do what I want to do I
1:52
never got that, and sometimes I would get to where I wanted to go and then somebody
1:54
else would come and try to tear me down Never
1:57
understood it, it didn't make any sense to me I
2:01
remember one day, gosh, about 25 years ago, I
2:03
said, this is silly, this is stupid, this is not
2:05
fair. Never
2:08
forget where I was. In
2:10
a place in particular, I was driving my car, I just remember
2:12
the vision of being at a stop sign, that was it. Kind
2:16
of a metaphor, I guess. I said, it's not fair. And
2:19
at that moment, I got this thing came through
2:21
me. That's
2:24
the way it is. Still,
2:27
it should be easier, shouldn't it? I mean, you just basically make
2:29
an idea and go do it. That's kind of the premise. And
2:31
ultimately, that's exactly what it is, but it is kind of a
2:33
difficult ride. And that's okay. It's
2:36
all right. We all go through that.
2:39
fight your way through, it's okay. We all go through that. And
2:42
that's what the show's all about. Bailey
2:44
boost, stand up, take a step, repeat. Life
2:48
gets in the way. We take care of it.
2:50
My name is Scott Smith. Good to have you here today. By
2:52
the way, I just recognized the past couple
2:54
of days that I have forgotten to mention.
2:58
Where you can communicate with me regularly if you'd like to.
3:02
Face your passion dot. No, well, you can do
3:04
that. That's not, I'm sorry. I've been talking about
3:06
this so much. I forgot. Feel free
3:08
to go to faceyourpassion.com. If you want to work with
3:10
me, my coaching group, that's always awesome. But
3:13
if you want to hang out and
3:15
say hi, just go to dailyboostpodcast.com/Facebook. That'll
3:17
get you in our daily boost podcast Facebook page.
3:20
Nice and positive. I'm going to warn you when you come
3:22
to the door right now. It's more like a coffee group
3:24
right now because we like coffee and
3:26
we have a few people who are posting coffee memes.
3:30
And because my hip has taken me a little bit out
3:32
of activity for a bit, haven't paid that much attention to
3:34
it. It's looking like a coffee group right now. So would
3:37
you please go? If you like coffee,
3:39
go to faceyourpassion.com/Facebook. And
3:42
if you'd like to help us get out of the coffee meme thing,
3:45
go to dailyboostpodcast.com/Facebook. So today,
3:48
this morning, you might
3:51
notice my voice a little scratchy. It's a little scratchy because
3:53
I've been on the phone for I think four hours today.
3:55
Zoom calls today. It
3:57
happens from time to time. It's it's part of my gig.
4:00
it's what I do. But this
4:02
morning I'm on a facial fashion coaching call and we're
4:04
talking to all kinds of things and finally I said
4:06
something. It was that removing frustrations from your life. And
4:09
I just said this, I said there
4:12
is something in my life that has a little friction to it
4:14
right now. It's not a major thing, it's just a
4:16
little friction thing has to do with my personal trainer I've
4:18
got. And
4:20
the friction has to be removed. And
4:24
I saw all the people on the call kind
4:26
of lean down. When you're in my business
4:28
one of the things you look for is when people are
4:30
looking at you and paying attention to you and you say
4:32
something like that and they all look down and take notes.
4:36
And you pay attention to it and I just kind of made a
4:38
note to myself, okay they want to talk about friction. The
4:41
interesting thing was they had never heard somebody say we
4:43
just have to kind of remove that little friction from
4:46
our life. It's no more, it's no
4:48
less than that. Just remove the friction and then a little later
4:50
on we're talking about friction. I
4:52
said listen don't accumulate friction debt. The
4:55
cool thing is you don't have to pay
4:58
it off all you have to do is eliminate it. So
5:01
if you have friction in your life that's causing
5:03
an issue anywhere, in my case a personal trainer
5:05
who's just not being flexible with hours and things
5:07
making it, you know it's his thing not my thing and
5:09
I'm like oh it doesn't work for me. Not a
5:11
good thing not a bad thing. It's like we'll find a new
5:13
trainer that makes it work for me. That's all there is to it. It's a little
5:15
bit of friction. And the longer I
5:18
do it the more friction debt I accumulate. And
5:21
at some point like I said I don't have to pay
5:23
it off. I just have to eliminate it. Oh
5:26
of course you can pay it off if you want to. A lot
5:29
of y'all doing that right now. Get
5:31
rid of it. I asked
5:33
a bonus thing I wanted to give you because it arrived this
5:36
morning and everybody took notes and I thought
5:38
well there you go it must be something that's interesting
5:40
to people. I certainly got interested in myself. But
5:43
the real reason for today's show is four simple
5:45
questions to help you find your passion. Now
5:48
you know I'm kind of passionate about passion. I've made it
5:50
a bit of an expertise of mine. I
5:52
study it deep. I spend many many hours every single
5:54
week working with people to get there. We figure out
5:56
how to make it happen. I've made it something I'm
5:58
just dedicated to. I
6:01
take that back. I didn't make it something I was dedicated to. I just
6:03
kind of found my place there. I did. I said,
6:05
I'm in, I'm into this. Let's go master it. So
6:08
if I could ask you a couple of questions to get you started, now I'm not
6:10
going to lie to you. It's about uncovering
6:13
and discovering your passion. It's not about finding it
6:15
on a street quarter. Oftentimes
6:17
it's about basically having the courage to go
6:19
do something about it. We have to
6:21
dig down deep and unearth everything. I kind of make a little
6:23
bit of a mess before we start seeing the things we don't
6:25
want. We get rid of the friction, we get rid of the
6:27
clutter and what's left is stuff you love. But
6:30
oftentimes it starts with a couple simple questions. And
6:34
if I can give you four questions and you would answer
6:36
them, if I could do that
6:38
and you started thinking differently about passion in your
6:41
life and I say passion, it's what you love
6:43
to do. I remember passion leads to motivation and purpose
6:45
and meaning and legacy because when you're passionate, it's about something
6:47
you get excited about. You tend to do it more. You
6:49
should do it more. You get better at it. You enjoy
6:51
it more. Now it becomes something you really want to do.
6:53
You have purpose in life.
6:55
So it's important to find this simple
6:59
questions that open your mind. You're ready for
7:01
them. I think your
7:03
mind's about to explode in a very good way. And these
7:07
are so simple. Let me just frame this and say
7:09
they're so simple. You might just run right past it.
7:12
But my guess is even if you run right past it,
7:14
if you take the time to listen to these questions,
7:16
it's going to do something to your subconscious mind that
7:18
you might not even recognize. And you're
7:21
going to be someplace different this afternoon because of it.
7:23
They're so simple. You
7:25
might turn the podcast off. Oh
7:28
man, I waited seven minutes and 30 seconds and
7:30
that was the question. Okay.
7:33
Number one, what
7:37
can I spend my time
7:39
doing that causes me to
7:41
lose track of myself and
7:43
time? That's a big one for me. I
7:47
find myself that when I'm kind of in that
7:49
default mode, I'm not watching the
7:51
clock. I'm
7:54
not even paying attention to myself. What
7:58
do I do when that happens? The big
8:00
clue for me is if I check my watch I
8:03
wear a watch. I don't check it. We're doing
8:05
good. I Check it. We're not
8:07
doing good. I Have
8:10
three more number
8:12
two What
8:15
sort of activities do I spend my money
8:17
to participate in Not
8:21
good or bad, there's no judgment here on how you spend your money.
8:23
I don't really care about that All
8:26
kinds of ways to spend your money so
8:28
judgment here However, the way
8:31
you choose to spend your money is a real indication
8:33
of what you're interested in Where
8:36
do you put your money? Give
8:39
it to good causes or should
8:41
cause going out on Friday and Saturday night and felling
8:44
up at the bar Again,
8:46
no judgment here, but where you spend your
8:48
money is a really indication of what's important
8:51
to you Number
8:54
three What
8:57
areas of my life do I
8:59
fear judgment What
9:04
scares you If I did
9:06
this, oh my gosh I've noticed
9:08
in my time in my time working with myself and I've
9:10
worked myself for gosh most my whole life Basically, I mean
9:12
there was a few years early on way didn't think about
9:15
myself But eventually I said I got to figure myself out,
9:17
right? But I noticed work with
9:19
tens of thousands of people at this point That
9:22
usually there is a judgment thing and oftentimes it
9:24
comes out like this I ask them something they'll
9:26
give me the answer and they'll be hesitant. I'll
9:28
say what's going on Well, if I did this,
9:30
oh, you know what? Well, mmm My
9:33
wife think my boss think I think It's
9:37
pretty common. It's more common than you think and
9:39
I typically go right past it But
9:42
when I see it happen, it's a little bit of a validation
9:44
to me that we're on the right path Because if I can
9:46
get you a little bit uncomfortable, I Can
9:49
get you a lot uncomfortable and I can get you a lot uncomfortable.
9:51
I can change it for the better So
9:54
what areas of my life do I fear judgment? Number
10:00
And my
10:03
last question, what
10:06
makes my heart race? Now
10:09
we've all had our heart
10:11
races and fear. That's never any
10:13
good. Is it? Oh my
10:15
God, I got busted. Oh no. Happens.
10:18
We've all had a couple of times in our life, right? What am I going
10:20
to do? It's
10:23
just like laughing and screaming and pure, pure
10:25
excitement and happiness. It sounds a whole lot
10:27
like screaming and agony. If you're 50 feet
10:29
away, you don't know what it is. The
10:33
same thing with making your heart race. It can race for
10:35
all kinds of reasons, but
10:38
you know the kind I'm talking about, what
10:40
makes your heart race in a way that you go, Oh
10:42
my gosh. For a
10:44
lot of people, it's, it's that
10:46
person you married for
10:49
some mothers. It's the first time they held a baby. Maybe
10:53
early on. It's all about that first job or that
10:55
first opportunity. I don't know what it is. There's all
10:57
kinds of things that make your heart race, but it
10:59
doesn't happen all the time. That's for sure. What
11:02
if you could identify when it did happen
11:04
and create that in your life, spending
11:08
your time, losing track, spending
11:11
your money on what you love to do. What
11:13
areas do you fear you're afraid of and,
11:15
and, and what makes your heart race? So
11:21
we do our own sound effects around here. There's no
11:23
sound effects. I just do my own. That's a serious
11:25
professional skill there. You got to admit that. Okay. Unless
11:28
I get this wonderful coaching group. If you'd like
11:30
to know more about face your passion, go watch
11:32
the video, face your passion.com or
11:35
just shoot me notes, support at motivation to move on comments.
11:37
Say, I want to talk about fix your passion.
