0:50

happy, happy, happy Monday, come on in. Did

0:53

you have a good weekend? I did, had another weekend

0:56

with my grandson, the oldest one. I've got several

0:59

of them now, a lot of them. He's 11 and

1:01

he's finally hit that tween stage and it's so

1:04

awesome because he's a little sarcastic now. He kind

1:06

of gives it to grandpa, Gpa as he calls

1:08

me. But now he's 11, I

1:10

can give it back and we can spar all night long. It's

1:12

so fun, I've been waiting my whole life for this. First

1:15

10 years are okay, 11, it's awesome. So

1:18

there's a question I've asked myself for a very

1:20

long time. I did not create this to help

1:22

coach, I didn't. I created it to help me

1:24

figure me out one day. And

1:27

a little later on, I started asking it

1:29

some other people, people that are looking

1:31

for their passion, their purpose, their meaning and to create a

1:33

legacy in their life. And I stumped them. And

1:36

a lot of people to this day still do not understand how

1:38

to answer this very specific question. I'll give it to you today

1:41

and I'll explain to you how you can answer it and where

1:43

I think it comes from. Okay, hang on, it's coming up. It's

1:45

the Daily Boost from motivationmove.com. The

1:47

positive boost you need every single

1:49

day since 2006 doing this

1:51

thing, a very simple idea. The

1:54

idea was, is there a way that

1:56

we can be happy, motivated, upbeat, make money the whole thing,

1:58

be a good citizen, be a good- husband, good father, all

2:00

that kind of stuff. Can we do all that stuff? And

2:03

can we still be good to ourselves and still think of ourselves

2:05

and accomplish our own dreams? Can we do it all? Can we

2:07

have the balanced life that we all seek? Well, the answer is

2:09

no. You cannot

2:11

have a balanced life. Balance is completely impossible. Balance

2:15

is dynamic. It's always changing. You'll never get to a

2:18

static status. Would that be

2:20

the word? To get to

2:22

the point where you have the balanced life, but we can learn

2:25

to kind of dance the balance, if you

2:27

will. And that's what the show's all about,

2:29

to help you figure out the moving parts of your life, to get

2:31

what you want and just have a nice life. My name is Scott

2:33

Smith. Good to have you. Thanks for stopping

2:36

in today. On Mondays, I always

2:38

ask a very simple question. We started the show every single

2:40

Monday with this. If you

2:42

want to do this homework, as I call

2:44

it homework, if you want to answer this

2:46

one simple question, you're doing yourself a big

2:48

disservice. Because if you

2:50

won't take the time to ask yourself,

2:52

how's my life going? And then take just a

2:54

couple of minutes to sit back and

2:57

think about it for a second and, and,

3:00

and ponder the answer that you get. It

3:02

sucks. It's awesome. It could be in

3:04

between, but if you don't take the time to do it, how

3:06

are you going to fix it? So when

3:08

the show's over today, sit back, take a couple of minutes and just

3:10

ask that one question. How's my life going? Is it good? Is it

3:12

bad? Is it in the middle? And the

3:14

very act of doing that, you won't have to do anything else. The very act

3:16

of doing that will, will cause your subconscious mind to

3:19

start to ponder it. And you'll start to look for the answers to

3:21

make corrections that you need to make. How's

3:23

my life going? The question I said I

3:26

was going to ask you today is something I've asked for a very long

3:28

time. It confuses a lot of people. I

3:31

forgot that it confused people. I started my face your passion

3:33

coaching program up again about three months ago. And it's better

3:35

just a man has it been fun, but

3:39

in the program I'm working with a whole bunch of people. And

3:41

in the module I have them working on when they first came in the

3:43

door, I put together a bunch of questions I thought would get

3:45

them going. Not questions that I thought would make

3:47

them work hard. And really what it was about is can we

3:49

get them to open up so they can find their passion in

3:51

life. That was something that I thought would be really helpful. And

3:53

in life that was it. And frankly, I worked really hard at

3:56

it and it finally came down to a very simple question. I'll

3:59

give the question. There's the second here, but

4:02

the reason I got to the question

4:04

started when I was 16 years old. My

4:07

brother took me to work one day. He was about

4:09

four years older than I was. He worked in Washington

4:11

DC and he took me downtown in the summertime to

4:14

make some extra bucks as a teenager. And

4:16

it was an office building. So

4:18

we drove downtown. It was kind of fun. I was excited. I

4:22

went up the elevator. I went inside and this is going to

4:24

be an exciting day. I cannot wait to go make some money

4:26

downtown in the office building. That's what

4:28

I heard is so fun. That's what people do. I

4:31

get in there and this is nobody

4:33

saying anything. It's dead

4:35

quiet. They're all sitting at their desk and

4:37

their cubicles. They're just kind of, I

4:39

didn't get it. So I'm thinking

4:42

to myself, okay, let's lighten this place up. Let's turn the radio on.

4:44

So I turned the radio on. And

4:46

then the mean old, floody duddy adults came out and said, you

4:48

can't have the radio and turn the radio off. I'm like, what?

4:52

I didn't last another day. I had to

4:54

stay till four or five that day, but

4:57

I had one question in my mind. This

5:00

is all there is at

5:02

16 years old. I was already answering, asking the question.

5:05

I didn't know what it meant deeper than that. I

5:07

just looked at that and I said, no, see, sometimes

5:10

you know what you want, but more importantly, you know what you

5:12

don't want. And I think that's the most important thing. When you

5:14

know what you don't want, you can steer yourself to what you

5:16

do want. Right? So that's

5:18

got in my life, my entire life. And

5:21

as I worked through my life, I began to work

5:24

on my purpose and the things that

5:27

I thought would, would work well for me. I began

5:29

to explore the possibilities. I began to reach out and say,

5:31

if I could explore what was possible for me, that

5:33

I could try some things on. If it worked, that was

5:35

fine. I would explore what was possible and go for it. And I say to

5:37

that, I would explore things, but you

5:39

know, it seemed like everything was possible and everything caught my interest. And

5:42

I found myself going down all these different pathways that I didn't like.

5:46

I wonder why. So

5:49

one day I asked myself this question. What

5:52

do I do when I'm doing me? I

5:55

thought about it first. Then

6:00

I said those words and

6:03

it really stopped me in my tracks. And then I

6:05

began coaching with that question. I would say, what do

6:07

you do when you're doing you? When

6:11

nobody tells you what to do, when you have

6:13

no previous plan, when you're not doing what you

6:15

think you're supposed to be doing, when you're just

6:17

doing you, when you shut down, when your default

6:19

mode network brain kicks in and you're just being

6:21

who you are. Who is that? Now,

6:25

when I presented this to my face, you're passionate people in

6:28

the form of a module that they're sitting down to do.

6:30

And an exercise I took them through and I asked that

6:32

question, gave them about a minute to answer. They

6:35

were lost. Suddenly

6:38

was like, well, what I'm doing, me, I'm, what

6:40

I'm at work or I'm improving myself or I'm

6:42

a mom. All of which could be right. But

6:47

they prefer flex by it as

6:49

I was. And over time I used to think

6:51

of saying, well, what are you doing? You're doing you. Well, I'm doing

6:54

a podcast. That's what I do. That's Scott. There's a podcast. Scott coaches,

6:56

Scott talks. I do like to talk by the way. Usually

6:58

if I'm being me, I'm probably, my mouth is probably

7:01

flapping. Lots

7:03

of things that could be doing. I thought, okay,

7:05

is that really it? Is that really the reason

7:07

I'm seeking this? What do you do when you're

7:09

doing you? Nobody tells you what to do. There's

7:12

nobody in your ear influencing you. Like I am right now.

7:14

You didn't read a book yesterday and you're still bouncing high on

7:16

that book that you read and all that stuff you learned. When

7:21

you've got a moment in time, no

7:24

one is telling you what to do. You're not even thinking

7:26

what to do. Your mind's just

7:28

going autopilot. What

7:31

do you find yourself doing? I

7:33

will tell you, I believe that to be the secret

7:35

to finding happiness on life. What

7:39

you default to is most likely what you do. Everything

7:41

else is probably something you decided to do. And that's okay

7:44

if you want to do that, but I'm just saying, who

7:46

are you? And

7:48

so, or a long time, I

7:50

kind of whittled it down. I

7:54

said, when I'm me, when I'm in my natural state, I'm

7:57

just kind of a peaceful, content, happy guy. guy

8:01

who likes to think about the world and stuff. I

8:03

like to figure stuff out. I

8:05

don't like to do things necessarily. Don't

8:08

have to follow through on everything. I just like to be peaceful

8:10

and happy. I like to think about

8:12

how things work and try to figure it out. I like to put

8:14

thought into things. I'll watch

8:16

things. I'll pay attention to people. That's why I'm in this business

8:18

because I'll sit down and just think about stuff. And

8:21

for the longest time, I thought, well, that's not enough, man. You

8:23

gotta be aggressive. You gotta go after,

8:25

what's the big ass goal you're going for? That's what you do.

8:27

When you're doing you, you run after the big ass goals and

8:29

everybody says, that's what you do. When you're doing you, you run

8:31

after the big stuff you say you want in life. And I

8:33

say, well, why aren't you doing it? Why

8:37

are you looking forward to that time off? You get back to spend

8:39

some time with yourself. If

8:41

everything else around you is running so hard and so crazy and

8:43

so fancy, you think that's what it got to be. And yet

8:46

at the end of the day, when you're just being who you

8:48

are, who is that person? Some people just think some

8:51

people like to sit around, just relax and pet their dog. Some

8:55

people like to pray. I

8:58

don't know what it is, but I will tell you this. When you

9:00

can figure out who

9:02

you are, when there is no expectation

9:04

from anybody else or you on you,

9:08

when you find that place that you're just an idol and

9:11

you're just okay with it. When

9:14

you find that place, you

9:17

find your place. I

9:20

can tell you this. Anybody I've ever seen

9:22

that dials in to who they are on

9:24

the inside, how they operate, what they

9:26

think, their beliefs and their values, and what's really important

9:29

to them. And

9:31

they focus in on building their entire life to

9:33

allow that space. And more importantly, their

9:35

entire life to allow that space to exist no matter

9:37

what they do. Oh, you

9:40

got the magic now. So

9:42

if you have the courage and you're willing to

9:45

turn face into your courage, what

9:48

do you do when you're doing

9:50

you? That's

9:56

what we do in face your passion. If you're

9:58

interested, just go to faceyourpassion.com. and

10:00

watch that workshop. Interested beyond that, you just shoot me

10:02

a note and tell me, we'll talk, maybe you get

10:04

the group. It's up to you. Have a good day.

10:06

I'm gonna see you here tomorrow. I'm

10:08

gonna go do something that I would always do when I'm

10:10

just being me. Keep moving,

10:13

gotta get back up, boy. Keep

10:15

moving, gotta get back up.
