In celebration of BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) Mental Health Month, Dr. Carlie has an enlightening conversation with Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Psychotherapist Kamilah Thomas, owner of KBT Counseling and Consulting PLLC in Houston, TX.  Kamilah offers valuable information related to mental health concerns affecting the black community, and discusses how the COVID-19 pandemic as well as the current civil unrest ignited by the death of George Floyd are impacting the community.  Dr. Carlie and Ms. Thomas also discuss the barriers and stigmas around mental health in the black community, what someone should do if they are reluctant to reach out for help, and strategies we can use at home to support our own mental health concerns.

Kamilah Thomas, LCSW is licensed in the state of Texas and sees clients via telehealth as well as in office.  She specializes in helping black women and their families, providing quality culturally sensitive therapy and services for teens, adults and couples.
