Hey, Big Dreamers, this is Sophia Carmen here.

0:02

I just wanted to pop in and let

0:05

you know I am going on a fun

0:07

vacation and heading to camp. I'll

0:10

be collecting awesome new stories, finding

0:12

cool inspiration, and learning new things

0:14

to share with you. While

0:17

I'm off on my adventure, I

0:19

can't report any podcasts, so

0:22

enjoy a rebroadcast from Eva's

0:24

and yours favorite episodes. I

0:27

can't wait to come back and tell

0:29

you all about my amazing experiences. Thank

0:32

you so much for understanding, stay

0:34

curious, and keep dreaming big. Hi,

0:56

Big Dreamers, it's Eva Cartman, the host of

0:58

the Dream Big Podcast Show, the place to

1:09

go to learn, laugh, and

1:12

grow. Today, I'm going to

1:14

share with you why at the

1:16

end of the day, is your

1:18

values, your character that matter way

1:20

more than your accomplishments, fame, power,

1:23

and any amount of money you

1:25

can earn. It goes

1:27

without saying that since the name of

1:29

this podcast is the Dream Big Podcast,

1:32

we know that anybody listening has big

1:34

dreams and wants to make those big

1:36

dreams a reality. Maybe

1:39

you dream of being the first person to

1:41

go to Mars, or maybe it is to

1:43

be an Academy Award winning actor, or

1:46

to create a new chain of

1:48

amusement parks that one day rival

1:50

Disneyland. Those are just

1:52

three examples, and I know each of

1:54

you listening have big dreams, and

1:57

I think that's wonderful, but I wanted to share

1:59

with you why. playing.

4:00

The town itself is very poor. If you

4:03

drive through the town, you can see that

4:05

the houses are very simple. The clothes are

4:07

hanging outside to dry. Most of the people

4:09

are riding bikes or walking rather than cars.

4:11

So it was clear that these kids who

4:13

were at the beach playing did

4:16

not have much in terms of material

4:18

possessions. But all day long,

4:20

they were outside playing, laughing, taking care

4:22

of their little brothers and sisters, and

4:25

enjoying a picnic with their family. We

4:27

didn't see any fighting, any bickering.

4:30

It was just a lovely family having

4:32

a great time. At one

4:35

point, we noticed the kids were collecting seashells

4:37

and presenting them to their parents as a

4:39

gift. On the same beach, there

4:41

were families who were clearly tourists who

4:43

had the money to travel to the

4:45

town and stay there, and therefore had

4:47

much more money than the local families.

4:50

Yet they were not having nearly as much fun.

4:53

The kids were fighting, the parents were

4:55

stressed and getting agitated by the kids,

4:57

and it was certainly quite the contrast

4:59

to see those two families side by

5:02

side and how they were at the

5:04

same exact beautiful beach, but were having

5:06

very different experiences. I

5:09

tell you this because I think it's

5:11

important for us all to remember, as

5:13

we chase our big dreams, that what's

5:15

really important is your character and your

5:17

values. Yes, it will be

5:19

great to achieve those big dreams, and with

5:22

that you might also receive a lot of

5:24

money and fame and power, but it will

5:26

not be meaningful if you are not sharing

5:28

those experiences with those you love, your close

5:31

friends and your family. At the

5:33

end of the day, your worth is not defined

5:35

by the toys you have, the clothing you are

5:37

wearing, the car you drive, the house you live

5:40

in. What truly matters is the

5:42

quality of the relationships you have and

5:44

the memories you create with those you

5:46

love. If you enjoyed this episode, then

5:48

please tell your friends and family about

5:50

5:53

can point them to

5:57
