My son, he loves the supermarket for some reason.

0:02

He's so excited, right? So I'm walking down the

0:04

aisle and he starts giggling. I was like, what's

0:06

up, buddy? He goes, he's going to a woman's

0:08

cart. And he's like, the pineapple. I go, yeah.

0:10

He goes, I wanted that. I wanted

0:12

that. I go,

0:14

I go, I go, I go, what? And

0:16

I'm in a moment of time where I'm like, do I correct him or do

0:18

I applaud him? And he looks at me and he

0:20

goes, what now? So come here, we hide behind like

0:22

an end cap of Oreos. So it's an end. The

0:24

woman comes back and she's like, has some other produce

0:27

and she walks right by her cart. And I'm like,

0:29

oh wait, she's going to notice. And she goes, and

0:31

she looks and she goes to the, and then she starts

0:33

to like look around and see what happened. My son like

0:35

loses his shit. He goes, run. And he runs full, but

0:37

he yelled run. So

0:40

the woman looks at him and he runs

0:42

full steam. It's like just this little body

0:44

down this long aisle. He's by himself. Like

0:47

he's going to do life. He's like, no,

0:49

get out of your safe society. He abandoned

0:51

me. What's up guys. Welcome to episode 209

0:53

of dropouts. This week we have the man

0:55

from impractical jokers, or you

0:57

might know him where you frequent sweetbriar, uh,

1:01

uh, nature center on long Island. A

1:04

big and sweet Brian. Okay. Okay. I

1:06

don't know. Somebody wrote that on our Patreon.

1:08

Like ask him some, who cares?

1:10

We got a guy that makes people giggle and

1:12

that's all we're trying to hear to do. And

1:15

Skyler's here because Alyssa died. And

1:17

then God, that's going to be so dark. If

1:19

like her plane actually goes down on the way

1:21

home. Why would you put that out

1:23

there? I don't know. I just, I thought about it. You

1:25

know what? There we go.

1:27

That's a plastic table inside. It's

1:30

like water to happen. It's veneer

1:33

knock on veneer knock on your teeth.

1:35

Then Jerry, they're not veneers. They're giant

1:37

like veneers. Okay. This guy's got a

1:40

great smile. Tara. It's beautiful. Okay.

1:42

Um, so we're going to hit some intro music. It's a time

1:44

for you to just kind of chill and relax and just reflect

1:47

on all negative things in your life. Go ahead. Oh

1:52

yeah. Get into it. I like that. I

1:55

like that. All

1:59

right, guys. If you know me, you know

2:01

I'll plug. Run

2:03

over to the Patreon right now or I will take

2:05

Jared's teeth out and install them in you and you'll

2:07

be embarrassed for your entire life. We

2:10

do 20 to 30 minutes of extra

2:12

footage after this podcast. You

2:14

also get the episodes early. You also get

2:16

prizes every month. We're doing a summer bash

2:18

where you can win some X-boxes and some

2:21

switches and blah, blah, blah. Oh,

2:23

we also do the drunk episode each month. Here's a

2:25

little clip of that. I'm Jewish. I'm

2:29

also part Jewish. Shut up. Small

2:33

is the biggest erect. What was the biggest?

2:35

Eight inches. Oh, oh,

2:37

oh, I'm taking like 14. You

2:41

think that's eight inches? Wait, no.

2:43

You're in my greatest employee if I ever get pants at

2:46

a local pool. That's

2:48

eight inches? That's eight inches. Imagine

2:50

taking that. You're feeling that shit in

2:52

your gut. When are you gonna

2:54

start your OnlyFans? You

2:57

look like a psychopath. You're

3:02

crying wearing medieval times. You

3:04

have one shoe off and

3:07

you're drinking. Any last words, Daniel?

3:12

And we're back. And so if you don't

3:15

go to the description, get on the Patreon. Again,

3:17

I will make you bleed. Okay, Joseph. What's up,

3:19

bro? Is that what I assume? Is it Joseph?

3:21

Yeah, Joseph, yeah, yeah, yeah. Does your

3:23

family, is that what they go in with? Joey,

3:25

I grew up as Joey. And then

3:27

I'm now Joe. After my

3:29

dad, my dad was Joe, I was Joey. And after

3:31

my dad went, I took Joe. You're a junior? No,

3:34

he had different middle names. Oh, good, you're good, you're good. Yeah,

3:36

I didn't wanna do that whole thing. And I didn't name my

3:38

son Joe because I didn't want him to have

3:40

to deal with the whole thing. No, I get that. I was

3:42

supposed to be Joseph Hibberd Justice IV because my

3:44

dad was the third. Oh, that's amazing. But you got it.

3:47

Are you a sports guy? No. Okay. Look

3:49

at me. Not playing, babe. God, you could freak with

3:51

a couch. I know, you're right, absolutely. I see you

3:54

look a couple eyeballs on a ball bouncing. I have

3:56

a couch potato body, you're right there. No, no, no,

3:58

no, brother. That's a couch. Oh, we're starting off bad.

4:00

Let's go over to Taro. Are you tracking to this

4:02

one or is it just the other one? I'm

4:06

definitely your second favorite though, right? As

4:08

long as I'm not fourth. No, no. That's Murr. It's

4:12

switched off. I have more content out about

4:14

you. Oh, OK. Like I think I'm publicly

4:16

a bigger you fan. Oh,

4:18

cool. Because I think I was a little like, you

4:21

know, a little bit shy

4:23

about Sal. No, but I love that you're a fan. And

4:25

I love that you love to laugh. That's great. I love

4:27

it. Great. I love that you have to politically say that.

4:30

What if he's just like, I hate you. No, I've told

4:32

fans directly to the face that they're terrible. I'm

4:35

mad. Just somebody to go with something. I'm like, yeah,

4:37

get away. And then we notice it's like a particular

4:39

race. And every time it's just like not for me.

4:41

And then you walk up, we're like, god, I mean,

4:44

he's so impractical. It's odd.

4:46

It's like Norwegian. Yeah, yeah. He

4:48

really is like, it's blue eyes and brown hair. No.

4:51

Too tall. No. Oh, yeah, yeah. They're threatening people.

4:53

You got some Norwegian in you? Yeah. You do,

4:55

right? Actually, you're like a Scandinavian folk. Honestly,

4:59

I don't know. I want to do my 23 and me. You

5:01

look Scandinavian. Yeah, right, a little bit. Yeah. In a good way,

5:03

though. Don't say it as

5:05

a slight. No, it's not. You do.

5:07

Yeah. I know what you look like. I just go

5:10

like real dark. Anyway,

5:12

no. The closer I've been to a Scandinavian, I

5:14

have a little bit of Scandinavian in my DNA

5:16

because I went to prom with, no, a Norwegian.

5:19

I went to prom with a Norwegian. Do

5:21

you know how DNA works? No, she gave me

5:23

some. OK, gotcha. Yeah, I harbor it

5:26

in my chromosomes. You don't know me, brother. I

5:28

got absorbed. Exactly. So we've got

5:30

two of the four infinity stones now. We just

5:32

need the rest. I

5:35

met you first, though. Actually, I

5:37

saw him first. You saw me first? Your

5:39

show. I was like an agora. Maybe

5:42

you're in a couple months ago. Oh,

5:44

OK. How'd you like it? Left it.

5:46

Oh, great. Yeah, even someone came out and was just

5:48

like, oh, if you guys want to meet him backstage,

5:50

apply to this, and it'll be a surprise. And I

5:53

did, and I didn't get it. I'm

5:55

really sad. No, it's fine. You never shook his hand.

5:57

No. God, it's a good one. That's all I can

5:59

get. No, he threw out the five fingers at me.

6:01

I grasped him. We kind of held on for a

6:03

while, which I enjoyed I you know, I honestly remember

6:05

doing it over the table. It was like a little

6:07

like It's like hey,

6:09

and then you have a long arm one of us had

6:11

to stress Yeah, we did you didn't as much as I

6:14

did. I was like belly to the table. I was like

6:16

hi. I Was scared. I

6:18

was scared cuz you had a gun but no it

6:20

was a fun time We met in a poker tournament

6:22

neither of us won But

6:24

we both acted like we were gonna win at the beginning.

6:26

I think that's a Testament

6:28

to our lives is we think things are gonna

6:31

work out and sometimes they just don't they don't

6:33

free for most people But here's what I will

6:35

say about you. I learned a

6:37

lot about your character and instantly liked you I'm

6:40

a straight you I was on the fence about you when I sat there cuz

6:42

I sat the table But

6:45

I was like around like people that were like younger You

6:47

know younger and things and a lot of people have chips

6:49

on their shoulders and whatnot and then I didn't know how

6:52

to feel About you. I just knew that you had a

6:54

whatever. Sorry. I sat down and you we

6:56

joked right away Which was nice, but then I don't know

6:58

if you remember there was a hand there with the person

7:00

next to me Accidentally

7:03

showed his cards. Oh, yeah

7:05

We were in a head-to-head you're in a head-to-head and he

7:07

didn't want to and he said oh and you saw it

7:09

and then you said What do I do here? And then

7:11

I said to you I said well if you're gonna be

7:13

a man of character play as if you didn't see them

7:15

and you knew you were losing and you still raised because

7:17

You were going to and I thought that spoke so that

7:20

spoke volumes about the kind of guy you are Well, thanks

7:22

so instantly from that moment on as a good guys good.

7:24

I see I came down on the other side of the

7:26

fence What

7:28

are you talking about? It's really sweet of you

7:30

that column younger than then me Like

7:33

oh, there's younger people. It's would have you called Zach younger. I'm

7:35

a young I'm a young I'm a spry Yeah,

7:37

you're definitely spry. Oh, dude, I could run to the me Really

7:41

yeah, exactly. Oh Your

7:44

decrepit is what he just said. I thought you were

7:47

same-aged. Yeah, I did I well you

7:49

give off a mature vibe God time to go

7:51

get Botox Nothing

7:53

to do on appearance. I just thought you didn't think

7:55

that backfire would happen. Did you? No,

7:58

sir. No, no, sir. Yeah Oh

8:01

Tara, what was the thing that you do with guys

8:04

when you're in the same bed you're making out and

8:06

in practical jokers is on It

8:16

happened really yeah, I stopped

8:18

kissing the guy and I said It

8:21

was a good part. Yeah, do you remember the episode? More

8:24

importantly, do you remember whose turn it was cuz that'd be interesting.

8:26

Oh, yeah had to be you or so Um

8:29

No, I don't remember that was it there was a couple Yeah

8:31

That where it was on but it was just it was just

8:34

really funny because I was like sorry Like this is the only

8:36

thing that would stop me in the guy was good-looking boy boy

8:39

is he hot and I literally said Excuse

8:41

me, I'm sorry Around

8:43

completely started watching that's amazing I do meet and

8:45

greets and I met a couple once and people

8:47

are very comfortable with me very quickly because On

8:50

me on the you know, I'm me on the show So it's

8:52

like it's not like a plane of character So people come up

8:54

to me like right away and one guy came up to you

8:56

with his wife at the meet and greet And he goes you'll

8:58

never believe he's like you were there for all three stages I

9:00

said what he goes conception. We were watching your show in the

9:03

delivery room He's like and then the babies in the Nicki when

9:05

we were laughing and watching and he told me I was like

9:07

Oh, you made love to us. Yeah, man.

9:09

He's like, that's why we have a happy baby Only

9:15

thing my mom did was drink while I was in her stomach,

9:17

but this is way better. Yeah So

9:19

Sal you guys met at what age so we

9:21

all went to high school together. Oh you all

9:24

did Yeah, yeah, no brother didn't know at what

9:26

point? Okay, the show works out at what point

9:28

you guys all look at each other like this

9:30

isn't kind of nuts that this happened was there

9:32

like a moment it could have been meeting someone

9:34

it could have been an episode or like a

9:37

reception of the show in its entirety, but you

9:39

have in March 14th 2012 2012 was January 6

9:41

20 We

9:45

were we were for Q's birthday. We were it

9:47

was around early March, but we were We

9:50

went to a wrestling event because he's a big wrestling

9:52

guy and we went in on Long Island

9:54

There's this place called Westbury in the round. It's just like a

9:57

venue and they had the you know Everybody's doing

9:59

their whole wrestling thing We just came in and we sat just a

10:01

four of us one I drove and we just sat there and we're

10:03

watching this is like season almost beginning of two

10:05

I guess and You never really

10:07

have a handle on how much people know you you know So we're

10:09

just sitting there and the wrestling you know

10:11

is happening and in between these live wrestling events, you

10:14

know There's an intermission niche between the matches And so

10:16

we're sitting there and we just see like we're in

10:18

the back and we're just like hanging out sitting there

10:20

watching and we just noticed some people like turn like

10:22

Westburn, but whatever and then there was an intermission and

10:25

The whole place got up and

10:27

like came to get selfies with us and we got

10:29

literally backed against the wall And it was like thousands

10:31

of people like hat and I was like, whoa. I

10:33

was like, this is we didn't have any security Nothing,

10:35

we were just like us and they're like, oh and

10:37

there was like a picture, you know, I'll true TV

10:39

I got ready Right. So we had

10:41

to get out of there. So I was like, oh, this is this

10:44

is not it We didn't feel safe. It was just like it was

10:46

like a mad rush of people and everybody's trying to do it and

10:48

people Were drunk, you know and stuff. So I was like I just

10:50

started yelling larry and I probably start laughing I'll follow me. I just

10:52

said I'll follow me then they put their hands on my back And

10:56

we just ran on my car and drove away and then

10:58

from that moment I remember that moment vividly we were in

11:00

the car the four of us and was like, well, that's

11:02

pretty insane that we yeah It's not like that and then

11:04

we're like we never gonna be able to make the show

11:06

Everybody's gonna know us and then it's

11:08

on channel 1 million. Nobody's gonna go on

11:10

for a decade Oh, yeah, how is that?

11:12

I guess how often do you have to

11:15

just scrap everything? The only problem that really

11:17

became was You

11:19

talked to people for a while to see if they know

11:21

you but then when I'm talking to you and doing

11:23

a bit Somebody in the park sees me and runs over

11:26

like Joe can I get a selfie and ruin the

11:28

whole thing? Yeah, this is as long as this is okay

11:30

So what we had to do is we set up like

11:32

our PA's were like ninjas They like surrounded us with

11:34

a perimeter like we were like the secret ops, you know

11:36

And he used to sweep in and like literally put

11:38

their arms around people. I'm like shut up. We're filming They're

11:42

just in the bushes with blow darts But

11:48

that was like that was the biggest thing but then when we

11:50

started we had to stop in different malls because Word

11:53

would get out and you know how malls are set

11:55

up that they're multi-level and I'm here part it would

11:57

look like I know it's like exploration, but you would

11:59

look it would start looking like the Coliseum. You'd be

12:01

performing down on the bottom floor and there would just

12:03

be people around the railings looking down, all just being

12:05

quiet. So it would be eerily quiet as somebody walks

12:07

in and they would just feel something's off and they

12:09

would look up and all these people are looking down.

12:12

And here comes me with a bag like, excuse me,

12:14

do you know what time it is? It's

12:16

like, what the hell's going on here? You're the

12:18

modern day Russell Crowe. Yeah, and I was just

12:20

in the arena paddling. Holding wheat. Oh yeah, you're

12:22

just, gah, you're feathering that wheat. But

12:24

instead it's like Staten Island cigarette buds. Hey.

12:30

What is your, I'm always interested in this. What

12:32

is your family think when, like

12:35

okay, it's like are you gonna go to

12:37

LA, do the thing? But then it works

12:39

out and they're out with you and maybe

12:41

see the fame. How did they react

12:44

to everything? Oh, sorry, can I ask what

12:46

your parents did? I just wanna get a

12:48

grasp of like. Oh, my father, he

12:51

was an insurance salesman, vice president,

12:53

he sold life insurance. And he passed away when I

12:55

was 19. My mother was an

12:57

executive, she stayed home mom until I

13:00

was in eighth grade and then

13:02

she became the school secretary in my school and then she

13:04

was an executive assistant. So she has

13:06

no conception of like any of this happening.

13:08

So once she starts seeing it, what was

13:10

her? Peacock. Yeah, she's showing off. My son

13:12

Joey, okay, okay, okay. She was around for

13:15

season one. She passed away in season two.

13:17

Oh, so season, you didn't do it. You

13:20

don't know that. I knew that. I

13:23

was just waiting for you to kinda eat your words. I

13:27

sat here quietly, what am I gonna say? Actually, they're dead.

13:29

What do you want me to do? What's worse, what's worse,

13:31

you just like pre meditate, watch your friend be like, I

13:33

can't wait for him to bring up the dead mom. I

13:35

was, well, it kinda went fast. So I was

13:38

like, what am I gonna do, interrupt? I use

13:40

it as a joke though all the time. I'm

13:42

very like, I equip that part of me. I

13:44

like when you brought the scouts as well. In

13:46

one bit, we're trying to make each other laugh in

13:48

the room and I pretend like on a phone call

13:51

and I said, oh, I said, mom, what are you

13:53

doing? Dad's here too? I walked out with two attached

13:55

skeletons to me and they would dress like my mom.

13:57

My mom had like white hair, she's like a white

13:59

line. She always wore like cheetah prints and we had

14:01

like a scarf on it. And my dad had a

14:03

top hat for some reason. And they

14:05

were like attached to me. And I was like,

14:07

oh, you guys want to go on a roller

14:09

coaster? Whee! And I went to hell. It was

14:11

so dumb. But like, I just, you know, you

14:13

celebrate people. You lose them. And I think it's

14:15

important to keep them alive. Like memories of my

14:17

conorrhom. And my mom was just like such a

14:19

peacock. My mom was like all our moms. When

14:21

we were the Tenderloins, we were practicing improv. And

14:23

I lived in my mom's basement in my

14:25

early 30s. Catch.

14:30

My mom used to like pretend to do laundry to

14:32

listen to us, like practice and stuff. And she was

14:34

like, oh, he's our biggest cheerleader. So the guys were

14:37

really tight with my mom and everything. So she was

14:39

like our team mascot. So when it hit, like she

14:41

was just like telling everybody on Staten Island. She's like,

14:43

yeah, my son, Joe, him and his friends, you know,

14:46

they're famous now. I

14:49

love what I've been thinking about this

14:51

a lot recently. So your dad's in

14:53

heaven. Your mom goes up there. You

14:56

know, he's been watching down. Maybe she takes another lover.

14:58

I mean, what's the call? What

15:00

do you think the conversation is like? That's tough. He's in

15:03

a corner. I mean, my mom was hot. She became a

15:05

widow of 54. So

15:08

she had a lot of years left in her. And she started

15:11

dating all these like half of mobsters on Staten

15:13

Island. One of my boyfriend's name was Joe Scongile.

15:15

He was like this guy. Oh, man.

15:17

It was great. But it was, you know, and

15:19

I lived in my mom's basement. And so we

15:21

had the vents. Stop flexing on us. Every second

15:23

you get, we had the vents. And

15:26

they were active. So I

15:28

had to like put on like my headphones.

15:31

It was like rough. But it was great. Rough sex? She

15:33

lived her life. I like

15:35

to think that your dad would kind of just try to mess

15:37

with her and the guys. And you'd kind of be haunting in the

15:39

corner. And you could only say a few words because the ghost can't

15:41

really articulate too much. But he'd just say his own name kind

15:43

of highly. So the guy thinks they're saying someone

15:45

else's name. The guy's name was the same name. Was

15:48

it? Yeah. Staten Island. What was it? Maybe it was just his last

15:50

name, Joe. So maybe it was just his last name. Oh.

15:54

Well, he could have been like, ouch. I

15:56

was ruining the mood. No, she fixed it. I mean,

15:59

she realized. She kind of thought. And

46:00

the sound goes, okay, what happened? I go, I'm in a mall,

46:02

I'm a massage chair. And he goes, that's funny. And we just

46:04

start laughing. So then we have to write them all up and

46:06

send them to the network to get them approved for them to

46:08

pay for it, right? And it literally said the punishment is like

46:11

a list of pages and they signed off in check and say,

46:13

have questions. And it just said massage chair punishment. Joe's a massage

46:15

chair. That's what I want to say. And the guy called me

46:17

up, Simmy Costano, was called me up and he said, he's like,

46:19

hey, he's like, this is a massage chair. He's like, what happens?

46:21

I go, oh yeah, I'm a massage chair. And

46:24

he starts laughing and he goes, yeah, well, what happens? You're

46:27

laughing. And he goes, you're right. And

46:30

we figured it out and whatnot. But he built

46:32

that massage chair and like built the cameras and

46:34

all the gates. Are there any pranks or anything

46:36

that you really had to work for with the

46:38

network? You're like, we worked really hard to get

46:40

this across. There's one night we always wanted to

46:42

do that they would never let us fucking do.

46:44

Oh, what was that? It was called Busta Tampa.

46:47

Oh, oh, yeah, Sal talked about that. That's

46:50

it, right? That was our golden goose. Like, I hope they

46:52

pull it off. I hope they're able to do it too.

46:54

Wait, remind me, what was that one? Handcuff

46:56

somebody on a bus that's going to Tampa. Oh, that's it,

46:58

you go to that. And they're like, what happens? He goes,

47:01

you're stuck on a bus to go to Tampa. It's like

47:03

three days to get to Tampa and you're locked on a

47:05

bus. And they just never let us do it. But that

47:07

was a fun one for us. But I think one

47:10

for me I had in the works, which

47:12

I was very excited to do, was

47:14

I had it planned out to make an impromptu escape

47:16

room and lock the three of them

47:18

in during like, so we were gonna do

47:20

a challenge, right? And then I was gonna get a phone call and

47:23

be like, get in a fight with the network and be like, I

47:25

gotta talk to the guys about this. And I'd

47:27

be like, guys, we gotta come in here. And we was

47:29

gonna go in the room and we were gonna actually have

47:31

all fake wall that slammed shut and locked. I was gonna

47:33

have the three of them locked in an escape room. And

47:35

I had everything planned out of everything. Like, we had to

47:37

like, we had everybody's Venmo

47:39

for on the crew. And then we had to play this game

47:41

where they had to guess whose birthday it was. And if they

47:43

were wrong, they'd guess somebody wrong. They had to Venmo them $20.

47:46

They had to get it out. Like, it was like a

47:48

really fun thing we did. Like, I posed just

47:50

in my underwear on top of Q's. I

47:53

stole Q's one day on top of his Jeep. And I

47:55

just was like, on top of his Jeep. And then we

47:57

like made a puzzle of the picture. And I had to

47:59

like. Like assemble it, like it was really fun. And then

48:01

one of them had to end with them calling one of

48:03

their mothers and telling them they don't love them. Oh, of

48:05

course. Like, not your son, I'm absurd. Like we had all

48:07

these things and it just didn't come

48:09

to fruition. So that was like one that I

48:11

really wanted to get, but. I assume

48:14

you guys did a lot of the pre-process of,

48:16

you know, writing the things or whatever it is

48:18

and working with writers maybe, but yeah. If you

48:20

guys were, I don't know, someone was bullish about

48:22

an idea and someone didn't really like it. How

48:25

would you come to a consensus? Or if any

48:27

problems arose, like how would you guys come together?

48:29

Like a majority vote or? Yeah, I mean, we

48:31

worked, we worked hard to

48:33

like make sure everything was in its best

48:35

form and we trusted each other because we all know what's funny.

48:37

But the biggest thing is like, we knew what each other would

48:39

do funny, but there were a couple ideas that it was like,

48:41

the Trump card for, and Q used to say it and we

48:44

would say to each other, it would just be like, hey, I

48:47

want to do it. And then it's like, okay. Like

48:49

that was it like, hey, it's going to be funny. Like there

48:51

was one punishment I did for Sal where we did this mind

48:53

bending punishment for him because he is so. I know the one.

48:55

Yeah, so he gets so neurotic in his own mind and I

48:57

know how to push his buttons. It'd

49:00

be funny just to not watch Sal have a mental breakdown. What

49:02

can I do? I was like, well, make him think he's getting

49:04

punished, but then keep pulling the rug out and be like, you're

49:06

not. And just keep watching him. Just. He's my

49:08

favorite punishment. So I wrote down the whole thing. I figured out

49:10

it all out. And I presented to everybody Sal, you know, wasn't

49:12

there that day. It was the three of us and the writers.

49:14

And I'm like, blah, blah, blah. oh,

49:16

and they're like, oh, and they're like, and they're like, and then Q

49:18

was just like, yeah, I don't know. I

49:20

don't get it. And I was like, yeah,

49:23

he goes, nothing happens. I go, yeah. I

49:25

said, Sal's mental breakdown happens. He goes, he's not gonna, he's

49:27

like, what if it doesn't bubble up? And we went back

49:29

and forth, back and forth. And then I just looked at

49:31

him and I put my hand on his shoulder. I said,

49:33

buddy, it's gonna work. And he went,

49:36

okay. It's my favorite. It's the favorite thing I've done

49:38

on the show. Probably the cat adoption. So we're in,

49:40

we're in Washington square park and we're doing a challenge.

49:42

And then we, the first thing we do is like,

49:44

we have somebody come by. There was a, we set

49:46

up this fake bungee jump thing and we're like, oh,

49:48

and we start just talking. So we're filming us. It's

49:50

kind of meta. Like we're filming us talking to each

49:52

other about the bit and stuff. And I said, and

49:55

I go to the guys, I go, guys, what, what

49:57

is this? Do these guys have a permit? And it

49:59

was like this big bungee jump thing. It said bungee

50:01

jump in the park. It was us. We rented a

50:03

cherry banger. And we just put it all the way

50:05

up with a sign that Will Fax made that said,

50:07

jump for $5 or whatever. So

50:09

we go back in the beginning and I make a big thing about

50:11

it. So Sal notices it, Sal goes first. And I go, I was

50:14

like, oh, I was like, that bungee jump thing, man. And

50:16

so I was like, yeah, I'm like, hey. And we

50:18

did this thing where we used to go, well. What

50:20

are we gonna like twist somebody's punishment? So we're like,

50:23

oh, that bungee jump thing looks scary. And Sal goes,

50:25

yeah. And we go, well. And he literally goes, oh,

50:27

fuck you guys. I was like, no way. I'm gonna

50:29

jump over a cherry picker. What are you crazy? And then we start

50:31

living like, no, that guy's just, no, no, no, it's not part of it. He goes,

50:34

it's not. And from that moment Q stopped on

50:36

plug to mic. He went, I'm sorry. And

50:39

he plugged it back in. And we just totally mind

50:41

after him. Like we had people come out with cement

50:43

and made him think he had to step with his

50:45

new shoes into like cement. A cat adoption thing pulled

50:47

up. We made him think he had to go on

50:49

his cat thing. It was like all this,

50:51

a bunch of stuff just piled on. What point did

50:53

he catch on? He had a mental

50:55

breakdown. He had a complete breakdown.

50:58

And it ended with his father having lunch with his

51:00

like somebody that he knew from college. I forgot who

51:02

the last beat was. And then

51:05

his dad was there. And when he saw his dad,

51:07

he goes, what the? He goes, you fuck. And then

51:09

we just lost it. Everybody charged him, the crew and

51:11

everybody just started. He's like, this guy's in on it.

51:13

This guy's in on it. Everybody was actors. Yeah, it

51:15

was really, it was really a choreographed, well thought out,

51:18

saw level mechanism that I put together. And I was

51:20

just like very proud of it. And that it worked.

51:23

And like, I knew him that well. That was like,

51:25

this is, and it also scary that I could make

51:27

him. I was like, yeah, because I love

51:29

him so much. And then just to be like, oh, I just

51:31

made you breakdown for TV and make great TV.

51:34

How silly and like fun everything is. People probably

51:36

don't notice that the hard work, but like coming

51:38

up with that, even that stuff, it's God's mind

51:40

numbing. I assume just like sitting there for hours,

51:42

how are we going to make him lose his

51:45

mind? No, that's some of them. They'd

51:47

be to that scale, but other scales like we talked

51:49

about, like, you know, it was like being a Sasha,

51:51

but then it was somewhere with like, we planned a

51:53

zombie apocalypse because we're like, how'd be

51:55

funny if we send them on the ground? And our

51:57

locations team had to go find a sewer. Like that

51:59

was. That's what they were doing. They're like, what a

52:01

weird job. It's like, we need a sewer. It's like, what

52:03

are you gonna do? So like some

52:05

of it would be that scale, but other stuff. And

52:08

you don't think about how much went into the show

52:10

because each show had, in the

52:13

beginning, they had five challenges. And

52:15

it was just jump cut like that. There's so many jokes,

52:17

but each one of those is a day. And then you

52:19

have all the joke, each joke inside each one of that.

52:21

And then it couldn't breathe. And you were just like, oh,

52:23

it was just too rapid fire. And I think it really

52:25

found a stride when you got to know us. And we

52:28

put the conversations in and all that stuff. It's like, when

52:30

you saw the friendship, for me, that's what the show

52:32

is. It's like friendship on display. Everybody gets

52:34

it. No, no, no. I do enjoy a

52:36

lot of it, like comedies. But when it has just a little bit

52:38

of heart in it, it takes it to

52:40

the next level because you just feel a lot more invested. Similar

52:43

to an action movie if you don't care about the character. I

52:45

mean, it's not going to be, I don't care if they die.

52:48

Same thing. I'm not going to laugh because I don't know them.

52:50

It goes with anything you do, though, like this podcast. Like people

52:53

watching you because of you. No, no, they hate us. You

52:56

say that, but I've heard the chatter, man. People really

52:58

like to heart. Do

53:02

you like your position? And

53:06

you've got a lot of good things happening. Do you

53:08

guys enjoy what you've created? Or is it still

53:10

in the thing where you're too into it? Because I remember when

53:12

we were making Jokers, I was into it a lot. But

53:15

you don't really step back from it. And it took me

53:17

a minute. But if you step back and look, you've got

53:20

to pat yourself on the back a little bit, no?

53:22

Yeah, I do have a really hard. It's funny because

53:24

Sal brought this up, too. I have a really hard

53:26

time doing that. And

53:30

charts-wise, it's like one of the top podcasts. That's

53:32

not like an ego thing. It's just like you

53:34

see that and you look at it. But I

53:37

guess it's different because it's not like some type of contract

53:39

where I know I'll have this work for 20 days. Say

53:42

nobody likes us tomorrow. And it's just, OK,

53:45

we've got to figure it out. So it's

53:47

very stressful. And then now

53:49

I'm in the position of managing a lot

53:51

of people's lives and their livelihood and their

53:53

money. And I'm

53:56

fighting for them, always different people about, I can't do

53:58

this deal because I've got to pay my people. Not

58:00

hourly. So you're not selling nothing? You're not?

58:02

No. Really? Way. Even today? I

58:04

don't know. I've moved on. I

58:08

should find out. I'm going to go ask. But I'll get

58:10

down there next week. We weren't getting, you don't get it.

58:12

And then by the, if that's how they enticed you to

58:14

do better, like if you made tiers, your percentage went up.

58:16

So when I made Platinum Pace Center, I went up to,

58:19

I think it was like 5% from where you started, like

58:21

3%. Oh, wow. That'd be

58:23

fun. Like a series of people, they're

58:26

famous now. They used to work other jobs and go

58:28

back to it to see if they're still be good

58:30

at it. Like I wonder how much you sell today

58:32

if you're still in there. Yeah. I mean, without people

58:35

that know you obviously. Yeah. I think being a salesman

58:37

totally helped me in my career because a lot of

58:39

it was selling the idea of the insanity that I

58:41

was creating. You could read people, but

58:43

also just being able to know who was going to go for it.

58:45

Yeah. I'm sorry I interrupted you. Oh, no, you're good.

58:48

I am. But you were saying like getting

58:50

people through their days or

58:52

whatever. It's like when we were restocking or

58:54

whatever, I would listen to podcasts and stuff.

58:56

And then the other day, I went

58:59

to go get a shirt or something. And this

59:01

girl, she was super nice at the cash register.

59:03

She was like, I listen to you guys all

59:05

the time. That's awesome. While I'm working, I was

59:07

in that same exact place four years ago. And

59:10

so it's like going. I mean, this was very strange

59:13

for me. Because in LA, people come up. I guess

59:15

you expect it more. But I went back home where

59:17

there's not a lot of human beings. And we walked

59:19

just down the street to a restaurant. It was like

59:21

30 people came up and stopped me to say, I'm

59:23

like, why are you here? I'm

59:26

from here. What are you talking

59:28

about? Going home. Yeah. That

59:30

was very well for me. I just, it's something

59:32

you don't think about. People from your hometown are going

59:35

to know, even if they didn't know you,

59:37

they know you now. And not the same way of seeing

59:39

you at the grocery store. It's funny because people talk

59:42

to you about a sense of pride being

59:44

from your hometown, which you don't really think

59:46

about that. It's like when people are like,

59:48

where are you from? You could easily come

59:50

up. It's like, oh, thanks for me. You

59:54

could be a name inside in that thing, which is, where

59:56

did you grow up? Here. I grew up here. So you

59:59

grew up in a place. Everyone's

1:00:01

famous. Right, either everyone's facing

1:00:03

famous or chasing it. So it's

1:00:05

a little different perspective. A little bit. I

1:00:07

went to my old high school like two

1:00:09

weeks ago to visit my old art teacher and

1:00:11

there was kids banging on the door. That's awesome.

1:00:14

And like leaving class. It was the most insane thing ever. I

1:00:16

went to the donut shop at like 12 in the morning. Last

1:00:19

was it with you? No, she was busy. It was

1:00:22

with a friend of mine. I don't remember what I

1:00:24

was with. It was like 12 in the morning

1:00:26

and these guys are like, you went to El

1:00:28

Camino High School and I'm like, I did. Did

1:00:30

you guys, were you guys in high

1:00:32

school when I was there? And they were

1:00:34

like, no, we're like sophomores. I'm like, they're like,

1:00:36

is it true that you were there like last

1:00:38

week? I'm like, yeah. Is it true?

1:00:41

Is it true? Is it true? Crazy

1:00:43

rumors. You know who went to my high school?

1:00:45

America Ferrer went to my high school. Tiffany Haddish

1:00:48

went to my high school. The

1:00:50

guy who played McLovin went to my high school. Really? So

1:00:53

bangers. Stalin. Stalin.

1:00:55

No. So like, it's crazy

1:00:57

that even like growing up somewhere like this. I still get

1:00:59

it. Yeah. Yeah. So

1:01:02

I can't imagine you guys. Well, you know, it's the craziest thing is that the

1:01:04

four of us went to our high school together. Oh,

1:01:06

you guys are. We went to my senior Farrell High

1:01:08

School. What's her reunion like? I would never

1:01:10

go. Like literally, like it's

1:01:12

so funny to think that the four of us

1:01:14

met there. Like it literally started

1:01:17

there freshman year there at the like in the

1:01:19

cafe there. Like that was it. Like

1:01:21

it's crazy to think that the four of us and everything

1:01:23

coming out of also just not just like the Staten Island

1:01:25

pride of being like, you know, there's a lot of comics

1:01:27

that might have sat now. Now it's got a good place.

1:01:29

But like, just to be like, wow, that's

1:01:31

like crazy. The four of you. It started right here.

1:01:34

Like, you could geo target. Well, again, you

1:01:36

know, they should carve your guys's faces into the

1:01:39

school kind of like Matt Rushmore. I was going to

1:01:41

say, do you have a mural yet? I'll paint it.

1:01:45

We went to, we went to,

1:01:47

um, we did like their,

1:01:49

uh, this is probably like, it's

1:01:51

gonna be a decade ago at this point, but

1:01:53

we went to do their, got interviewed by their

1:01:55

closed caption television, you know, like there's closed circuit

1:01:58

TV in the school and like they're morning

1:02:00

show, like the kids interviewed us, it was so

1:02:02

funny, it was like so cool. They're like, we

1:02:04

are here with the legends. The

1:02:08

one and onlys. They ate in the same cafeteria,

1:02:10

and they took us on a tour, and

1:02:12

nothing had changed. It was the same thing. Guys,

1:02:15

we did. Guys, you have the same tables we

1:02:17

sat at. Does the school need a

1:02:19

donation? I know, as they're hitting us up. Yeah,

1:02:22

it's crazy to think of that

1:02:24

moment in time. That moment in time, you just,

1:02:27

pew. Do your kids understand the

1:02:29

scale of your career? Yeah,

1:02:31

they do now. I had

1:02:33

nephews and nieces, too. I'm very tight with my sister's kids

1:02:36

and family. I had my

1:02:38

nephew, Vinny, is very funny. So

1:02:42

he's 20 now, so he's like 11 or

1:02:44

so. And we'd be

1:02:47

out and about. His father is like my personal

1:02:49

security. He's like just a huge gentleman. He's great.

1:02:51

He was at the poker tournament at Big Vin. I

1:02:53

was wondering who was like, keep me from you. Yeah,

1:02:56

it was Big Vin. So he just cares about me

1:02:58

in a way, because he's awesome. I love him. He's

1:03:00

like a brother, but he's just a huge dude and

1:03:02

very intimidating. He put a black t-shirt on him, but

1:03:04

he's the teddy bear of a guy. So his son

1:03:06

is like a small version of him, 11 years

1:03:08

old. And he'd be

1:03:10

like, we'd be out talking. And when I'm with my

1:03:12

family, I'm kind of closer. I'm being dad or uncle. Thanks

1:03:15

to being a fan, not right now. You know, like that

1:03:17

kind of thing. So my nephew, we'd be sitting like we

1:03:19

were in a PF Changs. And we're just eating whatever.

1:03:21

And I remember my nephew sitting there, and he sees somebody

1:03:23

coming in. He goes, pew.

1:03:25

Look at this guy. This

1:03:28

guy's going to come over. And I just

1:03:30

felt like, and I start laughing. I'm not looking at my brother.

1:03:32

Love it. And he's like, I guess. And he

1:03:34

goes, I know. Here he comes. No,

1:03:38

no. He's like, he's with his family.

1:03:42

It was so funny and sweet. Like that. But my

1:03:45

son now, like I talk about this in my new

1:03:47

stand up, my son, he loves

1:03:49

the supermarket for some reason. My son just loves it. He's

1:03:52

like, let's go to the supermarket. I'm like, I

1:03:54

got to go get, you know, I'm going to go get

1:03:56

some almond milk. Yeah, let's go. So he goes, he's so

1:03:58

excited. Right? So I'm walking down the aisle. and he starts

1:04:00

giggling. And I'm like, you could tell, he's laughing at

1:04:02

her. I'm like, what's up

1:04:04

buddy? He goes, he points

1:04:06

to a woman's cart and he's like, the pineapple. I

1:04:08

go, yeah, he goes, I put it there.

1:04:13

I go, I go, I go, I go, I go, what? And

1:04:15

I'm in a moment of time where I'm like, do I correct

1:04:17

him or do I applaud him? So

1:04:19

he goes, and he looks at me and he goes, what

1:04:21

now? And I'm like, well, I go, look, I say, well,

1:04:23

the best part is you get to see the moment when

1:04:25

she realizes it. So come here, we hide behind like an

1:04:28

end cap of Oreos and we're sitting there, I

1:04:30

swear to God, we sit there at the end, we have Oreos and

1:04:32

we're sitting there and we're watching and we're waiting and all of a

1:04:34

sudden here, like a Russell, I look down and he opened the bag

1:04:36

of Oreos. He's like, he looks so into it, like he looks right.

1:04:38

I was like, all right, we'll buy these. Yeah, you look at it,

1:04:40

we're buying those. So we're sitting there and the woman comes back and

1:04:43

she's like, has some other produce and she walks right

1:04:45

by her cart because she realizes like she didn't have

1:04:47

a pineapple. When this all started. So she walks by

1:04:49

it and I go, and I'm like, oh wait, she's

1:04:51

got a nose and she goes, and she

1:04:53

looks and she goes, and then she starts to like look

1:04:55

around and he watches the show and if

1:04:57

people fall down for the first time to say the same thing to

1:05:00

him like he said, let's ask your boss if somebody could split it

1:05:02

in two. Why do you do the same thing to me? Why did

1:05:04

he taking the the

1:06:00

weirdest part is trying to figure out, you know, how

1:06:02

the world how to introduce your kids to this world.

1:06:04

It's the biggest challenge I think I'll ever face. But

1:06:07

it was like, it's cool now to like, in my

1:06:09

stand up tell stories about them because they give you

1:06:11

material like it's so humanizing to

1:06:13

be like, no matter how famous you are, how

1:06:15

many people know you out at the end of

1:06:17

the day. It's like, dad, I gotta take a

1:06:19

shit. Like it's just

1:06:22

like a weird thing like that you just realize

1:06:24

it's so pure in a moment in time. And

1:06:26

they give me such they just so funny. They

1:06:28

just like they just I could

1:06:31

just make any situation funnier with them because I'm like, I

1:06:33

know how to like angle it to make it the humor

1:06:35

out of it, you know, so like, it's just really, really

1:06:37

fun. Before we jump to the after school special, I just

1:06:39

wanted to talk about

1:06:41

the film and TV thing for a second. Do

1:06:43

you want like a Jordan Peele type angle where

1:06:45

it's like it doesn't have to be comedy, I

1:06:47

just want to tell stories. Like what's something that

1:06:49

maybe you're really passionate about or action comedy is

1:06:51

always Oh, yeah, I always love a good action

1:06:53

comedy. There's some favorites I gravitate towards. I mean,

1:06:55

the classics, you know, you know, even things that

1:06:57

were just action movies that were funny, like Die

1:06:59

Hard, you know, stuff like that

1:07:02

with the performances and stuff. But I really loved

1:07:04

spy. I thought that was great. Yeah. You know,

1:07:06

I do like those kind of films. But for

1:07:09

me, I do dabble in horror. I have horror

1:07:11

script too, because I find I didn't like her,

1:07:13

but my wife loves horror. And when

1:07:16

we first got together, she's she didn't, she doesn't like

1:07:18

comedy, like she doesn't, she didn't watch the show. It's

1:07:20

so funny. And I was like, so she we watch,

1:07:22

I would show her comedy and she would watch, you

1:07:24

know, the only comedy we agree on is airplane. Okay.

1:07:26

And she would start while I started watching horror with

1:07:29

and I really liked the story, the emotion that you

1:07:31

could pull out of horror. Yeah. So I have a

1:07:33

horror script I like to but I have a heist.

1:07:36

I love heist movies. I have a heist comic action comedy

1:07:38

that I like that's I'm working on getting done. So

1:07:41

that's like, that's where my plan on acting in it as

1:07:43

well. Or you just want to direct me is what I

1:07:45

always want to do. I've had enough time. I wouldn't have

1:07:47

been on front of camera if I wasn't myself. I'm not

1:07:49

gonna I don't consider myself an actor. Although I will say,

1:07:51

when I found a character like Colvon Cole or somebody like

1:07:54

I found a I enjoyed playing. I feel like I kind

1:07:56

of did it. But I don't, it's not

1:07:58

really what gives me joy. Yeah. about

1:08:00

it but I do love getting people

1:08:02

to perform and organizing the whole orchestrating

1:08:05

the chaos you know. Well thank you so much for coming

1:08:08

1:08:10
