RATING
I'm neutral on this one but not from a lack of desire to keep going, but because its potential is so great that I think it has huge growth potential to be a truly one of a kind podcast. All in all? In it's current format I wouldn't subscribe. However I will watch this pod closely because it could quite easily become one of my favorite pods.Current Pros: - Subject matter. What an interesting title and premise. There's so much potential here. Now this is VERY specific to my worldview but I am the managing editor for a Sports journalism website, and I am a showrunner for a D&D podcast, so this is RIGHT up my alley. But there's a ton of potential in the merging of these concepts.- Host flow: the pace never falters, they move at breakneck speed and it feels like listening to a sports show in so many ways. Which is exactly what it should be. Current Cons: - Length - given that I don't know the hosts, it's hard to convince me to give them over an hour of my time. I would love it if the format allowed for more episodes released, and a max of 20-25 minute investment. Tightening the concept and format would make this a knockout pod.- Overall content - I have a bias against Shock Jocks, and many times it feels like the hosts are leaning into jokes that mostly made me shake my head. Both of these hosts are knowledgeable, and joined forces to make something super interesting, leaning into tones that alienate listeners really pushed me away.- Lack of focus - this is a conversation pod. Which is fine, but the title and premise makes me think that it's going to have more direct shots into ideas. I would love to see recurring segments, things that cross the two topics more, and something that gives me, the listener, something to grab on to other than the hosts.
