Addictive, exciting and immersive. Perfect entertainment that I can´t get enough of!
With this pedigree and the quality of actors involved, you know you're in for a good series. At first it can be very slightly unclear exactly what's happening, but this is by intent, and the story becomes more and more gripping as each episode plays. As is the way with all good series, it ends on a cliffhanger - so there had better be a season two!
Great story, great voices, as always great audio. As an avid listener of Qcode shows and other immersion audio stories this one had me very engaged and wanting to know what was coming next.
Now that this has been rebranded into an anthology that makes it harder to rate! So I'm only talking about the first limited series, Evergreen. Production quality is absolutely stellar, with amazing sound design and acting. I was very much into the premise, and the characters were all varied and interesting, even though there was something I can't put my finger on that kept them from being truly compelling. In part because of the concept itself, from ep 1 I found myself wondering not "what will happen next?" but "how do you END a story like this?" And Evergreen's answer was... you don't! It doesn't end. It just stops, in what would work as a season finale, but as the end of a series feels incomplete and almost like a cop-out. If the series does continue (official twitter gives no indication that this will be the case, in addition to the immediate rebranding of their feed as anthology work) I'll want to hear more, but in the meantime, it just doesn't feel finished.
Not badly produced in general. Nice sci-fi premise. The writing and acting, though, are not at the best QCode level. Characters just not compelling enough and do some incoherent stuff. Actors sometimes seem to read instead of being natural. The editing isn't the best either, making it difficult to separate different scenes (because of the constant music), and they are all quite jumbled up. The pass of time is also an issue, it is not coherent throughout the series (beware, not an anthology, as it is described). Lots of action, but the scenes can be quite confusing and, in my case, makes the story weaker and a bit boring. And most annoying of all is the non-ending, big cliffhanger, as if to jump into a second series. Recommended to those who like an action packed sci-fi.
