Originally aired on 2/14/21 and is part of our Cheers Group Discussions. A verse by verse bible study for group discussion on Philippians 2:1-11. Paul reveals the importance of not doing anything from selfish ambition and to find rest and peace that the name of Jesus is above every name.
Discussion Questions:
1. In v. 1-2 Unity is the main theme. If you didn’t discuss the challenge and fight for unity with believers in the last discussion, ask how can we as believers maintain unity when so much wants to divide us.
2. v. 3 says don’t do anything from selfish ambition. Selfish ambition can be one of the most undetected motives when journeying through life and we can all fall prey to it. What is selfish ambition, how do we detect it, and how do we stay away from it?
3. v 5-8 talks about Jesus in the form of God came to earth. Why do you think Jesus (knowing who He really is) came to earth in the form that He did? What point was He trying to make?
4. What example are we supposed to take away from how Jesus came to earth with no reputation?
5. Knowing that Jesus’s name is above every name, what does that mean to you? And what comfort do you gain from knowing that?
