Originally aired on 2/21/21 and is part of our Cheers Group Discussions. A verse by verse bible study for group discussion on Philippians 2:12-30. The discussion dives into the fact that God is working in you for His good pleasure and how important it is to have spiritual fathers in your life and not just teachers. Paul also encourages us to be blameless and harmless in a crooked and perverse generation.

Discussion Questions:
1. Why does God say He is working in you for His good pleasure, when He has already accepted you and you are already considered righteous before him?

2. If we don’t allow God to work in our lives, are we hindering God’s pleasure? And are there consequences to that hinderance?

3. We seem to also be in a generation that is crooked and perverse. What does the words “blameless” and “harmless” used in verse 15 look like or act like?

4. Verse 20 reveals that the church should be a body of believers that actually care for the state of others. What is involved to actually know the state or condition of “every person” in the church and to care for that state? Notice I mentioned “every person”.

5. Verse 22 Paul shares again the concept of fathering, when serving Jesus in the Gospel. Why is it so important to have a spiritual father and for you to be a father to others? And why is just having teachers or instructors in Christ not enough? This applies to spiritual mothers as well.
