We are part of nature. Despite what we may be telling ourselves in modern times, the natural ebbs and flows of day, night, and the seasons greatly affect our well-being and of course, reproduction. In today’s session, we dive into how sunlight and maintaining a healthy day/night routine, can affect hormones and fertility.
Sunlight is more than just a source of light and warmth. It is a complex entity comprising various types of rays, including ultraviolet (UV) light, visible light, and infrared radiation. The effect of sunlight on human health is a result of these components interacting with the body in different ways. For example, your circadian rhythm!
Circadian rhythms, the body's internal clock regulating sleep-wake cycles, are significantly influenced by sunlight. These rhythms play a critical role in hormonal balance, which is vital for fertility. Sunlight also synthesizes Vit D, a crucial fertility nutrient. If you know me, you know I prescribe this to almost all of my patients because of its incredible reproductive benefits. Vitamin D, also known as the “sunshine” vitamin, is most effectively absorbed in the body through sunlight.
Tune in to get the scoop on how to honor the yin and yang of your day to maximize fertility.
