Sanctuary—a sacred space, a place of peace, a place of protection. This word shows up frequently in public discourse today, and the practice of providing sanctuary is a bold way of expressing core human values. I believe that the idea of sanctuary is also important in our personal lives, and how we know and manage our values. Each of us needs places of safety and peace, so we can ground ourselves in times of confusion, and maintain our sense of self and spirit.
