Hey, it's Dean Sharp here to keep

0:02

you from spending too much trying to

0:04

revitalize your indoor space. Are you sure

0:07

it's the furniture or is there something

0:09

missing? Something you haven't considered until right

0:11

now. An indoor tree. No, not a

0:13

house plant that you're gonna kill. An

0:16

indoor tree handcrafted just for you to

0:18

the perfect size and shape with a

0:20

real trunk and stunning silk leaves and

0:23

blossoms. A true piece of art that

0:25

magically brings the outside in and at

0:27

a fraction of the cost of something

0:30

like new furniture. Only one place

0:32

in the country creates custom silk

0:34

trees and flower arrangements on site

0:37

daily. And they're right here in

0:39

LA. Aldic Home.

0:41

The secret weapon of the studios and

0:43

designers like me. But the secret's out

0:45

so you owe it to yourself to

0:48

check out Aldic Home. Find

0:50

them on Sepulveda in Van Nuys

0:52

or visit them on the web

0:54

at aldichome.com. That's

0:57

a-l-d-i-k home.com. This

1:01

is Gary and Shannon and you're listening

1:03

to KFI AM640, the Gary and Shannon

1:05

show on demand on the iHeartRadio app.

1:07

They have forwarded me the email that

1:10

all of these people got from Gavin

1:12

Newsom today. The subject line

1:14

is heading to the White

1:16

House. Now,

1:19

we know that he's going to be

1:21

meeting with the president

1:24

later tonight. But that subject

1:26

line, wow, heading

1:28

to the White House. The

1:32

New York Times, just before the show

1:34

started, posted an article today that

1:37

suggested that President Biden has told a

1:39

key ally. We don't know who it

1:41

is. That he knows he may

1:43

not be able to salvage the candidacy if he cannot

1:45

convince the public in the next few days that he's

1:48

up for the job. And of

1:50

course after that disastrous debate performance from

1:52

last week, understands that his next few

1:54

appearances heading into the holiday weekend must

1:56

go well. Particularly, that he's

1:59

not going to be able to do that.

2:01

that interview that is scheduled with ABC's George

2:03

Stephanopoulos for Friday. Now, ABC has

2:05

told us they are not doing it live.

2:07

I mean, they're not going to broadcast it

2:09

live and that we will

2:12

see portions of it later Friday

2:14

on ABC's World News Tonight, on

2:17

Saturday on Good Morning America, on

2:19

Sunday on ABC's This Week, and

2:22

then probably the whole thing on Sunday

2:25

and then some highlights again on Monday.

2:30

I think they're dumb for holding this thing back. I

2:32

think it's irresponsible that they're holding this thing back.

2:35

I think we as the people of America should

2:37

know as soon as possible what we're

2:39

dealing with. Show us the

2:41

raw footage. Show us President Biden answering

2:43

questions about his own mental fitness.

2:45

It has to be done. We

2:47

deserve to not be teased into,

2:49

oh, here's another bit coming tomorrow

2:52

and tune in on the next

2:54

day. I've just made my

2:56

way through the rest of this Gavin Newsom email. So

2:59

heading to the White House, listen to the verbiage

3:01

in this. It's telling, ready? Folks,

3:03

he starts it off with. I

3:05

hate that. Yes, but it's very, I am

3:08

appealing to all of America. Folks,

3:11

as you read this, I'm on my way to Washington

3:13

DC to meet and stand with the president at

3:15

the White House later tonight to

3:18

meet and stand with. Doesn't

3:20

that kind of insinuate that all Biden can do is

3:23

just stand there? As

3:25

opposed to having a hearty, healthy conversation about

3:27

the future of the country. It's very, very

3:30

cleverly worded. He goes on

3:32

to say, when that's over, I'll be hitting

3:34

the road to campaign for him and Democrats

3:36

running up and down the ballot in several

3:38

swing states. One of the

3:40

places I'll be going is Pennsylvania, where I'll be

3:42

with Senator Bob Casey as he runs for reelection.

3:46

I understand that folks are anxious right now, he writes,

3:48

and a lot of people have reached out to ask

3:50

what they can do. The truth

3:52

is we all have our roles to play

3:54

if Democrats are going to win this fall.

3:58

That's the only way it's going to happen. If

4:01

we are simply witnesses, we'll lose. When

4:04

act, Democrats can win. And

4:06

then he asks for money for

4:09

that, for the senator in Pennsylvania, the

4:11

all important state of Pennsylvania. Right. Well,

4:14

that is interesting. That's right. Um,

4:19

the president does have an event

4:21

today. Well, the president is going to have

4:23

lunch with Kamala Harris today. They

4:26

say it's their first one-on-one interaction since last

4:28

week's debate. And then later he's going

4:30

to be awarding the Medal of Honor to two Union Civil

4:32

War soldiers who took part in

4:35

one of America's first special ops. He's

4:38

going to hold that meeting with Democratic governors

4:40

because of the concerns over his debate performance.

4:44

They're all going to be in person pretty much at the White

4:46

House. Some will be joining remotely. Interesting.

4:52

Andy Bashir outlined what he hopes to hear during

4:54

the meeting. He says that the governors want

4:56

a direct and candid conversation with the

4:58

president. I think we also want to talk

5:00

about strategy. When governors get out

5:02

there, we put our own credibility and brands on

5:05

a line. Yeah. And

5:07

we talked before about this being

5:09

impactful down the ballot. You

5:11

know, if, if Biden is still on the

5:14

ballot in November, that

5:16

has an impact on, on those

5:18

governors races, congressional

5:20

and Senate races and everything. Fashion

5:23

Island yesterday, about three 30 p.m. It

5:26

was near Barnes and Noble at the

5:28

Tony shopping mall. A woman

5:31

from New Zealand was walking with her

5:33

husband, 68 year old woman, walking with her husband when

5:37

two suspects approached them. They

5:39

tried to rob the couple. A struggle

5:41

ensues. And then they begin

5:44

to take off in a white Toyota Camry. One

5:46

of the, one of the guys ran the vehicle, also

5:50

drove away and actually hit this woman. The

5:53

male suspect that, that ran then got back into

5:55

the car, at which point some

5:57

rounds were fired from a gun. The vehicle fled

5:59

back. the scene according to initial

6:01

reports the woman was shot but they figured out

6:04

that that was not true they later

6:06

confirmed that the car impacting

6:09

her is what killed her nobody was

6:11

hit by the gunshots eventually so they

6:13

said at one point one of the

6:15

suspects had dragged the woman on the

6:17

street during the robbery the

6:19

husband apparently was not injured at least

6:21

not physically and then

6:23

they got into a chase one

6:25

of the guys bailed out was arrested

6:28

in Cyprus two others arrested in Southgate

6:31

one woman who worked just a few stores down from where

6:34

the shooting occurred so she wasn't quite sure what was

6:36

happening and a lady went in

6:38

with her daughter apparently was screaming there's

6:40

a shooter so the

6:42

other stores in that immediate area

6:44

did a lockdown basically a lot

6:46

of customers in there and just

6:49

kind of sat and waited the

6:51

the Newport Beach mayor lashed

6:54

out at the these guys during a news

6:56

conference said that their creeps said this was

6:58

a stunning staggering attack went on to say

7:00

this is a safe community and we're mourning

7:02

the loss of someone frankly to hell with

7:04

these guys these are thugs every

7:06

community is now dealing with this we have to

7:08

do better as a society we cannot tolerate this

7:10

yeah they do have

7:13

great security at Fashion Island but

7:16

how I mean again I

7:18

said this earlier that the thing

7:22

that we can take some solace in is

7:24

that there's an actual

7:27

DA in Orange County and he

7:29

will probably but it's still LA

7:31

LA's problem is spilling over absolutely

7:33

but but there's a better chance

7:35

that they're gonna get can tried

7:38

correctly in in Orange

7:40

County than here in LA County

7:43

so we are getting information about

7:45

that all-staff meeting at the White

7:47

House now about what

7:49

the messaging was okay we got that we

7:51

got Gavin Newsom we got all kinds of

7:53

stuff going on on this on this July

7:55

3rd hey you guys love the

7:57

so happy birthday Shannon hope you enjoy your

7:59

birthday and have a great 14th of July.

8:02

You as well Gary, keep it up. Thank

8:04

you. Google, Google. Happy birthday Shannon. This is

8:06

Amber in Frasier Park, wishing you

8:08

the best birthday ever. You and I

8:10

have too much in common, no filter. And

8:13

we like to drink a lot. Love

8:16

you guys. Best show ever. Bye.

8:19

Google, Google. I like to drink

8:21

a lot. You're listening to Gary

8:24

and Shannon on demand from KFI

8:26

AM640. I think

8:28

you could be the entertainment. Yeah.

8:33

I'm sure they're looking for a 51

8:35

year old dude. Did you hear about

8:38

Gavin Newsom and Marshawn Lynch? This is more

8:40

proof Gavin Newsom listens to the program. He's

8:43

teaming up with Marshawn Lynch and

8:45

agent Doug Hendrickson to start a

8:47

podcast. It's gonna be called Politikin

8:51

on iHeart.

8:53

Can we say anything about

8:56

that? Cause it's the company. Yes. We

8:58

can say, yeah. You think that the powers of be

9:00

at iHeart media are listening to us. We can say

9:02

whatever we want. What

9:07

is Marshawn Lynch doing? Is this CTE? Like

9:09

what's going on? Why would you

9:11

want to sit in a room or even on a

9:13

zoom call with Gavin Newsom and give him any sort

9:15

of, It's

9:19

gotta be money. It's gotta be money. It's

9:21

gotta be. It's gotta be money. I mean,

9:23

there's no other. You're right.

9:25

Is it for the creative

9:27

process of two men from very different worlds coming

9:30

together to discuss culture and politics and life and-

9:32

It's gonna be awkward how Gavin Newsom is

9:35

gonna try to make it sound like

9:37

their friends and that he has anything

9:39

in common with Marshawn Lynch. Speaking

9:42

of awkward, I think it's

9:44

gonna be a lot of fun. I

9:47

think it's gonna be a lot of

9:49

fun. Speaking of awkward, did you see

9:51

Kamala Harris' video that she made with

9:53

Taraji P. Henson? No. It

9:56

was the most cringe-worthy fake

9:59

FaceTime call. that the two of them are

10:01

doing, where Taraji P.

10:03

Henson says, oh,

10:05

Madam Vice President Harris, what

10:09

are we gonna do about, you know, going

10:11

forward with all of our woes

10:13

and inflation and the Republicans trying to

10:15

take our rights away from us? This

10:18

was Kamala Harris trying to

10:20

sound very, very cool. As

10:24

they say, they not like us. They not

10:26

like us. It

10:28

was the most awkward, I'm surprised you have

10:30

not seen this yet. And it

10:33

was poorly produced, it was poorly

10:35

written. It was, they couldn't pull

10:38

it off as they say. As they say, they

10:40

not like us. White

10:43

House Chief of Staff, Jeff

10:45

Zeintz urged people during this all

10:47

staff meeting today to tune

10:49

out the noise and

10:51

focus on the task of governing. Senior

10:54

aides are scrambling to contain the

10:56

fallout from that debate. And

10:59

basically he just said, do your job.

11:01

Don't worry about the mess. Don't worry

11:03

about the fact that Emperor has no

11:06

clothes. Well, I'm

11:08

good, I'm happy with that. I'm fine with that.

11:10

I'm fine with the White House saying we have

11:12

a job to do. Let's continue to do our

11:14

jobs. When the campaign

11:17

gets involved, if the

11:19

campaign says, hey, we're not

11:21

talking about it, we're not doing anything about it, he's

11:23

still our guy and this and that. That's the thing

11:25

I have a problem with. I want the country to

11:28

continue running. That would be nice. That

11:30

would be nice to have somebody in charge. But

11:34

that's not good. We

11:36

went from that first Democrat out

11:38

of Texas yesterday who came

11:41

out and publicly said we need to make a

11:43

change. Void Doggett. To now what, five? And then

11:45

the whispers that'll be 25? I

11:47

know there's Doggett, Maine's, Jared

11:49

Golden, Marie Gluson, Camp Perez

11:51

of Washington. So we have three at least

11:54

that have named, that have come forward. But

11:56

the defection is in addition to at least

11:59

two dozen. Democrat House members

12:01

who are in those moderate

12:04

swing districts. They're in swing districts and

12:06

they happen to be moderates. There is

12:08

a suggestion, at least a rumor that's

12:10

going around DC, that they're going to

12:12

come out as soon as today and

12:14

ask Biden to step aside. Also

12:17

in DC today, several governors are

12:19

going to be meeting with President

12:22

Biden, whether in person or via Zoom

12:24

call. Of course Gavin Newsom has traveled

12:26

to DC to go to this meeting

12:28

with President Biden, said

12:31

a spokesperson for the governor, he will head

12:34

to the White House to attend the governor's

12:36

meeting and stand with the president, which was

12:38

echoed of course in the email that went

12:41

out. I was thinking about the timing of the

12:43

first debate. We never had a debate this early.

12:46

And I'm wondering, and at the time when these

12:48

were scheduled, we kind of talked about, well, it's

12:50

early enough where if one of them has a

12:52

disaster, they can rebound. Now I'm

12:54

thinking the powers that be knew

12:56

what they were dealing with with Biden and they

12:58

made it this early so that everyone could see,

13:01

nobody could deny it any longer and

13:03

they could make a change early enough

13:05

to go into the conventions. Now

13:08

I'm thinking that was the thought process. Well

13:10

there's also, but I mean,

13:12

it's early enough for the convention

13:15

itself, but we're dealing with 50

13:17

different states and territories added to

13:19

that. And they've all

13:21

got different rules about how we

13:23

have about the timelines of when

13:25

your candidate has, when your nominee

13:27

has to be nominated so

13:30

that they can appear on the ballot.

13:32

I mean, that's one of the reasons

13:34

why they were talking about doing an

13:36

unofficial, sorry, an official nomination before the

13:38

convention because there was a problem with

13:40

Biden's name being on the ballot in

13:42

Ohio. And the later

13:44

version of the convention being mid August was

13:47

gonna cause a problem with that so that

13:49

they would officially nominate him and then all

13:51

of the convention stuff would be ceremonial. Now

13:55

if we're talking about what's gonna happen,

13:57

Andrew Yang, for example, has said that

13:59

he does fully expect there to

14:01

be an open convention coming in

14:03

August. I think it's going to

14:06

be an open convention. I think

14:08

you're going to see folks like

14:10

Andy Bashir of Kentucky, Joshua Pirro

14:12

of Pennsylvania, Gretchen Whitmer of

14:14

Michigan all contending. The

14:16

fact is a majority of voters were

14:18

concerned about Joe before the debate. Now

14:20

it's a clear majority. And I don't

14:22

know. I don't know. You got a

14:24

hundred and what, 29 days. And every

14:28

single day that you get, you

14:30

know, closer to November 5th, it's just, it

14:32

ratchets up. I mean, the

14:35

pressure grows exponentially for them to do

14:37

something. We've been in unprecedented

14:39

times now for eight years.

14:43

I'm ready for some precedents. I'm ready

14:45

for some boring, little bit

14:48

of lame. You know, where's a good, you know, Senator

14:51

Tim Kaine when you need him just to bore

14:54

the snot out of you. It's fascinating

14:56

though to think about what could happen.

14:58

I mean, it is fun to talk

15:00

about and think about and

15:02

the fail fiction is great. It's fun to

15:04

talk about, but when you look at the

15:07

reality of it, it's a

15:09

little terrifying. It's a little unsettling. You don't

15:11

laugh. You're going to cry. Drive

15:14

your car off a cliff. Speaking of Gavin

15:16

Newsom, we told you yesterday that one of

15:19

the things that he and some democratic lawmakers

15:21

are trying to do was put an anti

15:23

crime measure on the ballot, an

15:26

anti crime measure on the ballot that

15:28

would go up against the real anti

15:30

crime measure on the ballot. The one

15:32

that is supported by law enforcement agencies

15:34

around the state. What they

15:36

finally did, what they finally did was they

15:38

pulled away from their plan to put the

15:41

anti crime measure on the ballot because they

15:44

responded by saying

15:46

they would put a watered down

15:48

version of a prop 47 repeal,

15:50

which among other things would

15:53

cause confusion. When voters are confused,

15:55

they vote no on everything because

15:57

nobody has the legwork or the

15:59

time. the brain space to do the

16:01

homework to tell between the two. That's why

16:03

you see a bunch of millions

16:05

and millions of dollars being poured into this.

16:08

He wanted to add

16:11

something that would address concerns about theft,

16:13

about fentanyl, but it would not be

16:15

as punitive as the measure that was

16:17

going to be put on there by

16:19

law enforcement and by prosecutors around the

16:21

state. That alone should give you an

16:23

idea of where he stands on this

16:25

issue. Unfortunately he's pulled

16:27

back. Thankfully they're not going to put a

16:29

competing measure on the ballot. He cannot have any

16:32

blight on him right now as he

16:34

said it heads to the White

16:37

House. He cannot have any

16:39

controversy. But I

16:41

mean he's got controversy left and right.

16:43

How many national stories appear every single

16:45

day about the condition of

16:48

our biggest cities in the

16:50

state? Yeah. But he's spinning it. He

16:52

spins it the other way. He continues to say

16:54

that all we need is more money. We've

16:57

spent billions and his own state auditors

16:59

say that that money goes nowhere. It

17:01

doesn't end up doing anything. If

17:04

you could take all that money and actually

17:06

treat all those addictions, wouldn't that be lovely?

17:08

Just widespread. And

17:11

you need more? Addictions are? You

17:13

need more than 15 or 16

17:16

billion dollars? No. Stop the train.

17:18

Yeah. Stop the train. Tonight

that kid's forehead? Oh no,

17:41

I did not see. Little kids surrounded

17:43

by adults at Dodger Stadium. Everybody's got

17:46

their hands up to catch the ball.

17:48

Not one person catches the ball and

17:50

it just careens off the kids for now. Is

17:52

he okay? I don't know. I

17:55

don't know. Kids are kids

17:57

are resilient though. Their foreheads are.

18:00

particularly resilient. Yes.

18:03

I mean, we all ran into walls at one point, didn't

18:05

we? Ran into walls.

18:07

I ran into my brother's face

18:09

one time with my forehead, front

18:12

teeth, left a big mark. We'll

18:17

talk about the heat. And I want to

18:19

clear up what I said earlier about the

18:21

hottest temperature recorded, because we've got

18:23

a talkback that said I was completely wrong. Oh, boy. So

18:26

we're both right, both wrong kind of thing.

18:28

We'll explain. You're listening to

18:30

Gary and Shannon on demand from KFI

18:33

AM 640. So

18:35

now there are reports that campaign officials

18:38

are reaching out to mega donors and

18:40

telling them it's only a matter of

18:42

time before Biden bows out. Does

18:45

he make it through the weekend? I

18:47

mean, like, you know what I

18:49

mean? I don't like die. But yeah, I

18:52

that is a good question. We talked about

18:54

it on Monday, thinking there

18:56

was some thought to it was a bad performance

18:59

on Thursday night. The story gets the legs on

19:01

Friday, but the weekend tends to cut the legs

19:03

out from under a news story like that. It's

19:05

just the end of the news cycle. It's

19:07

different now than it was because of social

19:09

media, because the ability everybody's got to replay

19:12

and reshare all of these different images and

19:14

photos and videos and things like that. So

19:17

we get back in on Monday and it's continued.

19:19

And it's grown since are on stilts. The

19:22

officials at the campaign are

19:24

apparently telling donors that

19:26

it's gone from singular support for

19:28

Biden to Democrats have to

19:30

retain the White House. And

19:32

that was the same feeling of the Gavin

19:35

Newsom email to donors this morning as well.

19:38

One of the stories that came out

19:40

was the All Staff memo that went

19:42

out to the campaign different from the

19:44

White House All Staff letter. This

19:46

one went to the campaign that included some

19:48

internal polling that said was still a tight

19:51

race with Donald Trump. But they were trying

19:53

to get out of a get

19:55

out ahead of a new poll from

19:57

the New York Times, CNN College, which they said

19:59

was going to to show a slightly larger swing

20:01

in the race. The

20:03

memo, again, this is to the campaign, said

20:05

just last week, New York Times acknowledged they

20:07

were often in a polling outsider. So the

20:09

New York Times, just a short couple of

20:12

minutes ago, as a matter of fact, posted

20:14

their poll, and it

20:16

says Trump's lead in the

20:18

race has widened concerns that

20:21

Biden is too old to govern effectively, rose

20:23

to new heights among Democrats and independents. So

20:25

as of right now, again, the New York

20:27

Times just out with this poll, right

20:30

now, Trump leads Biden 49% to

20:33

43% among

20:36

voters nationally. That's not an individual swing states,

20:38

this is a national poll that does

20:40

change things a little bit, but

20:43

still, it's the largest lead that

20:45

Trump has recorded in

20:47

a New York Times-Ciena poll since

20:50

2015. And

20:53

that's likely voters, right? Not just

20:56

registered voters. When

20:58

you pull out a little bit and make it just registered

21:00

voters, he leads by 8%, 49 to 41. So-

21:06

That's incredible. Boy, this, and I just feel

21:08

like this is one of those that's gonna

21:10

develop over the course of, even today. I

21:13

don't know if ABC is gonna be

21:15

able to piecemeal out that interview

21:17

by the time this storm that

21:22

has taken the White House right now-

21:24

Is he still there on Friday? Does

21:26

he make it the weekend? I don't know. Obviously

21:29

gonna be warm today. It's already 103 in Death Valley. It's

21:33

expected to be very, very warm over the course

21:36

of the next couple of days. And that is

21:38

why I think this nude man in Santa Monica

21:40

should be given a little bit of consideration.

21:43

Because he's developing, he's turning all of the

21:45

West Side into his own cooling center. Well,

21:47

it's hot out there. He appears to be-

21:50

Well, it's hot. He appears to be elderly.

21:52

He's walking around completely nude at all hours

21:54

of the day and night. And

21:56

who isn't walking around nude? It's

21:59

very hot. Do

22:03

you, I don't think that you're that person. That

22:05

walks around my neighborhood nude? Yeah. No,

22:08

I'm not. There's bears in my neighborhood.

22:11

Well, that's one way to, nevermind.

22:15

It's not on your birthday. No, I don't want to. What were

22:18

you going to say? That's one way to keep the bears out.

22:21

That's funny. You put you out there.

22:23

That's excellent. Thank you. Oh, collagen.

22:28

So I mentioned earlier that there is

22:30

an expectation that Death Valley could break

22:32

the world heat record this weekend. Death

22:34

Valley National Park expected to see some

22:36

of the highest temperatures in the nation

22:39

and obviously in the state because we're the ones

22:41

who are undergoing the heat wave right now. Those

22:44

who follow weather trivia will be watching temperatures

22:47

in the park as the gauge

22:49

rises above 130 degrees. Now

22:52

I said that's the highest recorded temperature

22:54

in Death Valley and somebody corrected me

22:56

kind of. Gary, just FYI, the heat

22:58

record from the US is 134 at

23:00

Death Valley back in the early 1900s

23:05

or whatever. Anyway, you were close. Well,

23:08

specifically Furnace Creek, July 10th, 1913.

23:12

That's the all time high recorded temperature,

23:14

but the

23:16

world meteorological organization recognizes

23:19

that 134. But

23:22

they have a lot of questions about Oscar

23:24

Denton, who was the US weather bureau observer

23:27

who recorded that temperature because they said he

23:29

liked to get into his cups and was

23:31

pretty inconsistent with his record keeping. Then why

23:33

would he be the record keeper if you

23:35

couldn't rely on him? Because it was 1913.

23:39

I don't care. So

23:42

the National Weather Service recognizes

23:45

the highest temperature ever reliably recorded

23:47

on Earth, which is 130 degrees

23:49

in Death Valley. Furthermore,

23:52

how hard is it to look

23:55

at a temperature and write it down? You

23:57

can be in your cups and record the

23:59

temperature. Well, yeah, I don't

24:01

know. I don't know what kind

24:03

of equipment he was working with back then. I mean,

24:05

was he working with just a big dial? Was he

24:08

working with something? Obviously, they weren't working with digital thermometers

24:10

like they are now. So the

24:12

forecast for Death Valley, by the way, on Sunday

24:14

is a high of 127. And

24:20

they're saying that obviously that could change over the

24:23

next couple of days, and they

24:25

could reach into that 130. Now,

24:28

Daniel Swain, a climate scientist who

24:30

talks about weather forecasts,

24:34

for UCLA and for his YouTube channel, said 130 might

24:36

be a bit of a stretch, but

24:39

there's always at least a couple of

24:41

degrees in uncertainty with specific predictions, and

24:43

said, I really don't have any special

24:45

insights into the exact value. The practical

24:47

implications of 127 versus 130 are about the same. Yeah.

24:53

It's damn effing hot, although he didn't say

24:55

damn and effing, with a

24:57

few degrees of hottest, reliably measured global

24:59

temperatures either way. So it's

25:02

going to be very, very hot. They tell people don't

25:04

walk after 10 a.m. Don't

25:07

literally don't walk after 10 a.m. because

25:09

it's going to be that hot. Wow.

25:12

We do have fire that we're watching.

25:14

The latest fire that's burning out that's

25:16

causing some consternation is up near Oroville.

25:19

The Thompson fire there, we'll see temperatures

25:21

forecast to reach up to about 109

25:23

degrees today. And

25:26

they are expected to go up to about 114 or 15 by Friday and

25:28

Saturday up in that part of the state. So

25:34

wind gusts in that area have also been to 30

25:36

miles an hour. The fire is just

25:39

over 3,000 acres. They

25:41

said there's a few hundred structures that are

25:43

threatened right now and 0% containment. So

25:46

one of the biggest factors in a

25:48

situation like that with the temperatures over

25:50

100 degrees is simply the

25:53

condition of the firefighters themselves. You

25:56

know, they're already dressed

25:59

in those. full turnouts and protective

26:01

equipment and they can only stand

26:04

that for so long before they get to lose all

26:06

of their water. I just found

26:09

a deep dive on Oscar Denton, but

26:12

that's probably not interesting to anybody. Gary

26:14

and Shannon. Was

26:16

he a gin guy or sort of a bath

26:18

tug gin? He was making it himself out in

26:20

the desert. Sometimes I get into

26:23

the deep holes and the Google Google. We've

26:26

got a missing- Google Google. We

26:28

got a missing wife in

26:30

Arizona. It looks like you'll

26:32

believe who killed her. You

26:36

will believe. You will believe. I'll

26:38

give you a half a guess. Who do you think it

26:40

was? I think it was her husband. You're

26:43

listening to Gary and Shannon on

26:45

demand from KFI AM640. A

26:48

little holiday of our own. Hi Gary and Shannon.

26:50

Hello there. I'm going to say happy birthday Shannon. Finally

26:53

hit that half century mark, huh? So

26:56

kicking and going strong, looking great.

26:58

Happy birthday. Hi guys. First

27:00

of all, happy birthday Shannon. You're

27:03

a lovely, you're a charming young woman.

27:05

I should go back from lovely. Anyway, I was

27:07

just thinking. I think

27:10

somebody should tell Jill Biden to be

27:12

careful and to check Gavin

27:14

Newsom's pockets when he comes in. Make

27:17

sure he doesn't have a measuring

27:19

tape in his suit

27:22

pocket. Why? Well, if

27:24

he's in that Oval Office alone, he'll be measuring

27:26

for drapes. That's so true. Take care and love

27:28

you guys. I thought she was going to say

27:30

make sure he doesn't have cocaine in his pocket.

27:36

Measuring for the drapes. Okay,

27:39

so the big story today, obviously,

27:41

is the consternation in DC and

27:44

the Democratic Party specifically about what

27:47

do you do with a problem named Joe? I

27:49

love that. In this case, see that's from the

27:51

sound of music. Yeah, that was good. The

27:54

crumbling support is, well,

27:57

I just. was

28:00

sidetracked. Karmin Jean-Pierre is at the podium at

28:02

the White House. She's going to

28:04

be bombarded with questions. There

28:06

is an expectation that we see some

28:09

House members outside of the three that

28:11

we know about some House members come

28:13

forward and suggest that Joe

28:16

Biden drop out. I do have some

28:18

breaking news. President

28:20

Biden and Vice President Harris have

28:22

made a surprise appearance on a

28:25

DNC call reiterating to

28:27

staffers that they are in this fight

28:29

for reelection together. The

28:32

people said it was a pep talk. The people who

28:35

talked to the AP said it was a

28:37

pep talk, stressing the stakes of the election

28:39

and returning to Biden's previous post debate comments

28:41

that when he gets knocked down, he gets

28:44

back up and still plans to win the

28:46

election. This

28:50

all comes on the at the same

28:52

time that New York Times came out with a poll

28:54

about 20 minutes ago. They just

28:56

published it that showed that Trump's lead

28:59

has widened after the debate.

29:02

Trump leads Biden 49 to 43

29:04

among likely voters nationally. That's a

29:06

three point swing from a week

29:08

ago. And when you do it

29:10

among registered voters, the lead actually

29:13

grows to eight points. They

29:15

said doubts about the president's age

29:17

and acuity have been widespread. A

29:19

majority of every demographic,

29:22

a majority of every demographic, geographic

29:24

and ideological group in the poll,

29:27

black voters included and those who said they would

29:29

still be voting for him believe

29:31

that he is too old

29:33

to be effective as president.

29:36

And that's now that's not thinking about what it's

29:38

going to happen four years from now. That's right

29:40

now. Corinne Jean-Pierre really knocks it out of the

29:43

park with her makeup. I

29:45

mean, that eyeshadow is expertly done. She's

29:47

got people, right? I assume I mean,

29:50

there's people to do makeup for your

29:53

wife. Does great makeup. One

29:56

of my girlfriends, Jessica, does great

29:58

eyeshadow. Kendra, everyone who's evolved. their

30:00

eyeshadow games so much thanks to

30:02

all the tutorials and things. I

30:05

haven't watched any of them. I don't know how

30:07

to do that and I don't care to learn. Is

30:10

that why you were using a

30:12

Sharpie earlier for your eyeliner? I

30:15

would suggest against it, but that's just me.

30:17

But I really appreciate the beauty of the

30:20

evolution of the the eyeshadow skills. There's

30:23

a woman in Arizona who is

30:25

missing, Kelly Putachowski, 45 years

30:28

old. Now,

30:32

they believe that she's dead. They believe

30:34

they're looking for her body now up

30:37

in the Flagstaff area and police

30:39

say interviews with witnesses and family

30:41

members have contributed to evidence and

30:44

that is why they went and arrested Daniel

30:47

Putachowski, the husband, as the

30:50

suspect in her death. He

30:52

reported her missing. Blood

30:55

was found at the house. Neighbors saw

30:57

the couple fight before she disappeared. One

31:00

neighbor reportedly saw Kelly lying on the

31:02

ground in the backyard motionless and

31:05

he was on top of her with his hands on

31:07

her shoulder area. Or neck,

31:09

depending on how you look at it.

31:12

I mean, the neck and the shoulder are pretty

31:14

proximal. The police said

31:17

that they tracked Kelly's

31:19

phone to Schultz Creek Trail in

31:22

the Coconino National Forest, just north

31:24

of Flagstaff with a time stamp

31:26

of about 1020 Sunday.

31:29

Daniel was spotted in the area a little more

31:31

than an hour later. Now, her phone indicated that

31:33

it was at the home they shared

31:36

just before or just afternoon, but

31:38

her vehicle was at the Campbell

31:40

Mesa trayhead, also in

31:42

that forest north of the city at about 130.

31:45

And that's when Daniel was spotted there at that

31:47

time. He said that she

31:50

was going to the lake for a run in the

31:52

swim. And that earlier

31:54

in the day, they rode bikes together. He reported her

31:56

missing just after 730. While police were at

32:00

the home, they saw, oh, I don't know, fresh blood.

32:03

Outside the garage, blood on the

32:05

patio, a bloody

32:07

footprint, Daniel didn't clean up too well. Well, it's

32:10

funny because where he was, or sorry,

32:12

where her motionless body was earlier in

32:14

the day, a neighbor saw

32:16

him spraying with a garden hose

32:19

where she had been laying. So maybe

32:21

he tried to clean up some of whatever

32:23

happened. When the police

32:26

confronted him that this

32:28

is a disappearance, disappearance is suspicious, you lied

32:30

to us, he did not confirm or deny

32:32

any information, he just said he wanted a

32:34

lawyer. He also referred to her in the

32:36

past tense, saying that Kelly was a beautiful

32:38

woman. That's not a great way to go

32:40

about doing it. Doesn't sound like he carried

32:43

out the perfect crime, does it? Well,

32:45

you know. You gotta clean up, you

32:48

gotta get your language correct.

32:52

Also don't throw her clothes

32:54

in the garbage can. Also

32:56

that. That's where they're going

32:58

to look. All

33:00

right, we will. Oh,

33:04

this is. Oh, Biden has posted

33:06

on X. I

33:08

am running. I am the leader of

33:10

the Democratic Party. No one is pushing me out.

33:15

Did Jill even get credit for writing

33:17

that tweet for him? Or did we

33:20

supposed to believe that he went to Twitter and did that by

33:22

himself? That's absolutely

33:25

Jill Biden. All right, we

33:27

got Swamp Watch a lot going on today in

33:29

Washington, D.C. We'll have to cram it in. Oh

33:32

my goodness. We'll have to just push it in

33:34

there until it pops. Whoa. Okay,

33:38

we'll do that. Maybe. Come

33:40

back to Gary and Shannon. You've been listening

33:42

to the Gary and Shannon show. You can always hear

33:45

us live on KFI AM 649 AM to 1 PM

33:48

every Monday through Friday, and anytime on

33:51

demand on the iHeart Radio app.
