For this week’s episode of Geekorama, we are digging into the archives and talking about a film from before Joss Whedon was known as the guy who supposedly ruined the Justice League movie: Dr. Horrible’s Sing Along Blog

Pop-Culture Trivia - The Guild

The Guild was written and created by Felicia Day, an avid gamer, in between acting roles in several American television shows and movies. After two years of gaming, Day decided to make something productive from her experiences and wrote the series as a sitcom television pilot. The series was purposely kept generic to avoid copyright problems and to appeal to a wider audience of massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) fans, but Day based it on her experience with a World of Warcraft addiction.  The Guild is considered one of the most successful Web Series of all time. You can stroll down nostalgia lane or catch it for the first time on Netflix.

GEEK OUTS

Trish - Going old school and geeking out about Eureka. This show is my warm fuzzy blanket that reminds me that somewhere out there in a sleepy Oregon town there are wonderful weirdos that are flawed and loving and that no matter what mayhem they concoct, it always ends up okay in the end.

Jeremy - In the pursuit of non-superhero superhero movies, this week I had a chance to sit down and watch the newly released Mortal, a Norwegian based film. What’s even more weird is how the latest episode of the Simpsons directly connects this plot to the concept of superheroes as a new religious mythos.

Deep Dive - Dr. Horrible is actually pretty wonderful.

We jump into the humor of this shoe-string budget and how it might still be quite relevant today in isolation. While it might not seem very "super" by the title, we all know that the most villainous characters also happen to have PhD's.
