15. Well, Guess We’re Old Now…
It’s strange how it sneaks up, and then BAM
- Body Changes - gray hair, wrinkles
- Aches, health/digestive issues (hello Taco Bell)
Now we’re old parents, not cool parents
- Matt agrees with all the parents in teen movies
- We don’t get the lingo
- At least we still have good taste in music
How movies/music has held up now that our kids are older
- Some have NOT aged well (the Mask or anything Jim Carrey, Neverending Story) sexism was huge, so super awkward watching those back with daughters
- Some that have (Goonies, Hocus Pocus, Princess Bride)
- How today’s movies/tv uses 80s nostalgia well though (Stranger Things, IT)
How we’ve noticed things are different between when we were kids, and our kids
- We had a lot more independence
- They are MUCH more into social justice/inclusion
- Very interested in current events/politics
How we’re coping
- Wellness is a big deal now, eating better, needing to work out
- Not caring about what others think as much (eff it attitude)
- Trying to stay relevant
