Haunted Places dives into the history of places like haunted houses, islands, and of course cemeteries. Haunted Places is hosted by Greg who’s entire job is to tell us the frightening and real stories behind the haunted and spooky locations each week. The best part about Haunted Places is that not only do we get a chance to hear and learn about the history it has equally creepy and eerie audio production to make you feel as though you are wandering the halls, fields, or stumbling through the cemetery running from the woman in the white dress. So if you’re in to creepy and eerie historical places, events or items look no further than this incredible dive into Haunted Places.
This show is deliciously scary. Some shows totally freak me out. Each show is brilliantly done and the quality is excellent. Adverts annoy me but they do in all podcasts.
The narrator's doing his absolute best to make this work, and the better episodes are really good. However, some times there's just not enough fodder there to make a full episode work well, but they went for it anyway, so the final product is a bit weak.
I enjoy horror stories. I love the idea of "bad places" - places which bear scars, with effects resonating into the future. What I liked about Haunted Places was its global scope: it didn't just stick to North America and/or West Europe. It didn't seem to fall into the trap of exoticising like I felt Lore did, and it was a good duration. However the style of dramatised narration wore thin for me after a while.
The narrator has a lovely voices and the stories are nicely spine-tingling. However, there is no pretense that the stories are true or anything but local lore. I’m especially bothered by the number of times the story is about someone who dies alone in a darkened room, meaning there’s no way anyone could know what happened, thus the story is categorically fiction. But I still listen to almost every episode, so …
Love this podcast! I listen to it before bed most nights.
I decided to give this podcast a try while trying to distract myself from cleaning. I started with the Amityville story and I have to say, it was not a good start as he set the town of Amityville in New Jersey instead of New York. Simple research gives you that information. I don't get it. Call me picky, but it's enough to take me out of the mood. Narration is good though.
I've been listening in order and it seems less and less like histories of haunted places but instead ghost stories revolving around specific locations. I was really pleased with the Cecil Hotel and Birdcage Theater episodes, but since then everything seems to be mostly tall tales about possessions, sightings, and urban myths told to reinforce that, yes, these places are definitely haunted rather than just rich with morbid histories that give one the idea that they COULD be haunted.
what has happened to this series? has it just been given the ghost? this was a good listen TBH
Really entertaining!
I listen all the time, I really enjoy how the stories are told . 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟✌🏼❣️
Gave me chills. Immaculately done. The narrator is a sinister and beautiful creature of darkness.
Tried to get into this series, but the dramatizations of events ended up turning me off to it. Cool concept, but when half an episode is like bad fan fiction, complete with full dialogue between characters and events presented as facts, despite having no way of actually knowing what happened outside of the base story, it takes me out of it.
