In this episode, I’m honoured to share the studio with the remarkable Dean Otto from Charlotte, North Carolina. Dean spent his early adult life battling alcoholism until his family intervened, leading him to AA treatment and recovery. The tools he gained through AA—perseverance, resilience, and forgiveness—became crucial in his later life.
In 2016, Dean’s life changed forever when a truck hit him from behind while he was cycling, leaving him paralyzed from the waist down. He was told his chances of walking again were to 2%. However, the lessons from his sobriety journey laid the foundation for his miraculous recovery.
Dean shares his extraordinary journey of healing, defying the odds, forming friendships with his surgeon and even the man who hit him, leading the three of them to running a half-marathon together and raising nearly $100,000 for spinal cord injury patients.
Dean now devotes his life to guest speaking, sharing the gifts of his recovery with those who need to hear it.
Tune in for an inspiring episode that will leave you deeply moved by the extraordinary power of the human spirit.
