I'm just getting home from a trip to Arizona. It's been a pretty trying week for my mom and me...my Uncle Mike (mom's oldest brother) just passed away. In the aftermath, we found out that mom had, not only been made the executor of his will, but been left EVERYTHING in his estate. While that's meant a significant and sudden windfall, it's also meant cataloging his estate - no easy task. Plain and simple, Uncle Mike was a hoarder - he might have been a genius engineer, but dude must have kept every scrap of paper he was ever handed. That whole thing about genius' being messy? It's an understatement. With a funeral to plan and angry relatives who feel they've been jipped out of a piece of the estate, mom and I set out to sort and catalog everything in Uncle Mike's Arizona home and workshop - I was there to help for 5 days and we've barely made a dent...

I'm too sleep deprived and tired to get too much into it now, but I felt compelled to at least throw this page and podcast up as soon as possible. While dredging through Uncle Mike's attic, I discovered a boatload of his data research, old projects, various correspondence with military and government officials, and tons of old cassette tapes...it's a conspiracy theorist's wet dream. 

That's only a small portion of his stash there...I didn't think to take a picture of it all before tackling the hauling of it all down stairs. Hell, I didn't even know what it was at the time. I haven't had much time to look through it yet, but I'm freaking out...Uncle Mike was labeled a conspiracy theorist and UFO nutjob. In the 70s, he lost it completely. He went crazy and thought he was working for the government and actually talking to aliens. All that nonsense put him in a psych ward - twice. At least, that's what I've always been told. None of this is in any kind of order...but there might actually be something to some of his delusions. 

That's what this blog/podcast is going to be about. I'm gonna try to sort through all this and see if I can't find out what really happened to Uncle Mike back then...before he was too doped up on anti-psychotics to function. 

Here in the next week, I'll try to write another post explaining further what I've found so far...I'll also get started on the official episode 1 of the podcast. This one is just a primer. 

Anyway, I gotta try to get some sleep...
