TL;DW: Try spending the first 3-6 months without video games first of all. Make some friends, force yourself to get uncomfortable, pick up some hobbies, and gain a better sense of independence.
College and university are a huge step up from school, and a lot of people can't cope with the stress and the pressure.
The only way for you to get over that is to face it head on and tough it out. Which isn't something you're going to be able to do if you fall back to video games every time something gets difficult.
