In this episode, Sheila recounts the days and months leading up for her mild heart attack. “At the age of 43, my doctors discovered that I had a rare birth defect on my heart called Myocardial Bridge in which the heart muscle had grown over the main artery restricting blood flow. Over the past several years, I had experienced extreme fatigue, severe lack of energy, steady weight gain, increasingly high blood pressure, excruciating arm pain, and a heaviness in my chest. After numerous tests, the birth defect was ultimately located during a heart cath and the outcome to correct it was open heart surgery. It was a long journey of recovery to say the least; however, I could not be more grateful to the doctors, nurses, physical therapists, family, friends, and even strangers who helped me through it all. To be eight years post surgery and able to share my story to help spread awareness regarding women’s heart health is a beautiful blessing!” - Sheila
