Anthony grew up in an English village, enjoying much freedom as a child. As a young adult he developed a love of travel and, using his training in information technology, found himself teaching computing in a Kenyan school. In Kenya he met his first wife, and together they moved to Australia where they took up farming, while bringing up their two sons.
