1:16

we are going to talk about YouTube's success

1:19

secrets. I'm going to give you some boneheaded mistakes

1:21

to avoid from my side at least so as

1:23

of this recording, Neil has about one point oh

1:26

seven million subscribers on YouTube.

1:28

I have about sixty nine thousand. Haha.

1:30

So Neil, you want to go first with some secrets,

1:32

and I'll go with some mistakes to avoid and some

1:34

things I've discovered recently. I'm

1:37

just going to give you one secret. You know, do

1:39

you already have heard the things like, oh

1:41

yeah, make sure your content is great like

1:43

mister bees and hook them, make sure

1:45

they watch it all if you're in boring subject like B

1:48

to B not as easy to do. You've

1:50

heard about things like putting in the keywords,

1:52

creating content around popular keywords,

1:54

and you know, make sure the keywors in the title videos.

1:57

You know, add in the text for the description

2:00

like you've heard of all this. You've even heard about thumbnails

2:02

and ab testing them with vid iq. So I'm not going

2:04

to talk about any of that. I'm going to just give you one

2:06

secret that works. YouTube's oborahithm

2:09

is whatever does really well in the first twenty four hours

2:11

tends to do well for the life of the video. So

2:13

what you need to do is push the video

2:15

extremely hard in the first twenty four hours, push

2:18

notifications, email blasts, SMS

2:20

blast, you can throw some paid ads,

2:22

whatever you do, push hard in the first twenty

2:24

four hours. That's how you win on YouTube.

2:27

It's that simple, right. Of

2:29

course, you need to do the basics, which I covered

2:31

some of them, but it's more so if you don't push the video

2:33

hard in the first twenty four hours, you won't do well. Also,

2:36

this is assuming you have an audience, So this

2:38

is now, let's go with it. Or you can on paid ads you don't

2:40

really need an audience. You can start, or you can partner with

2:42

other people who have an audience and pay them to their promoter

2:45

or get them promoted and you do something for those

2:47

Does that actually worked for you, because I remember spending on

2:49

paid ads for videos before and it didn't like

2:51

carry over it because it works

2:53

over now we've done a ton of paid ads on

2:55

the YouTube videos. We've probably spent over and it actually

2:57

boosts the organic reach. That's

2:59

true because I've tried that year ago,

3:01

so this might have changed, so that that's interesting.

3:04

To me, that's new to me. Yeah, so I did it

3:06

years ago. It worked. You know, we haven't

3:08

done it recently. We did to kick to our audience

3:10

and it really helped boost their organic side. Yeap

3:12

your mileage as does it. It helps

3:15

with their organic side too. A trips

3:17

actually gets quite a few views on their channel. They

3:19

have like three hundred eleven thousand subscribers and they

3:21

do pretty well. We do paid ads. It works well.

3:23

Fascinating. Okay, well, here's what I'll say. I

3:25

think you know, if you're starting out, the mistake I've

3:27

made with my channel over the years. I remember

3:30

when I first started, I just focused

3:32

on talking about marketing. Here's the thing, right,

3:34

it's counterintuitive, but if you go to YouTube, which

3:36

I do watch YouTube quite a bit when I eat lunch. So

3:38

if you watch, for example, like I

3:41

watched you know someone's video for like fifty

3:43

percent of it, right, what happened immediately afterwards

3:45

is a couple other videos from that channel was recommended

3:48

and it was the same topic. So I just continue

3:50

to dig in. Actually, this channel called film

3:52

Booth great for learning YouTube, right, and

3:54

it just kept clicking, clicking, clicking right to the next one, the next

3:57

one the next one. Now, the problem is this. Let's

3:59

say I'm talking about marketing. You watch one

4:01

marketing video for me, and then one of the other suggested

4:03

videos is on like NFTs

4:06

or it's like on how to get buff or something like that, right,

4:08

just making things up. How likely

4:10

are you to click that? Right? How likely are you to increase

4:12

the session time overall on YouTube? Because YouTube

4:15

wants to keep you on the platform. Right, So all

4:17

I'm saying is if you focus, like if you look

4:19

at Neil's channel as an example, it's just focused

4:21

on marketing. Right. When I was just focused on marketing before,

4:24

you know, I'd have some videos hundreds of thousands of views,

4:26

right, or you know each video will probably get at least

4:28

five thousand, you know, ten thousand on an average something

4:30

like that. You can do the same thing too,

4:33

as long as you're consistent with it, and for better

4:35

worse, this is just how the algorithm works. They want more

4:37

of what is successful, and as long as

4:39

you're able to do that, like guarantee, you're

4:41

going to win. So don't do the thing where I

4:44

did was like one second I'm talking about marketing. The

4:46

next second I'm like, oh, I'm going to

4:48

go talk about NFTs or whatever. That just kind

4:50

of starts to pollute your channel. You know, you look like you

4:52

want to say something. No, No, I think you

4:54

got it right. And look, just with any

4:56

social network, their algorithms can

4:58

change over time to and your learnings will

5:00

change, so you have to make sure that you adapt.

5:03

Yep, the other thing too, you know, Neil,

5:05

you mentioned vid Iq. I actually like two buddy more for

5:07

the ab testing portion. But I actually

5:09

started playing with vid Iq the first time yesterday.

5:12

It was just like a learning excursion for me. I

5:14

hadn't logged into vid iq in years,

5:16

and so I logged in. I'm like, whoa like

5:18

from a competitive standpoint, like coming up with ideas

5:21

content planning, like I actually put your channel

5:23

in there. I compared to mind, it's like how many like views

5:25

per hour you're getting for video, what your top hits

5:27

are, how quickly you're growing, what are the

5:29

like the top keywords they have, like AI

5:32

titles and all that. Like it's actually gotten pretty

5:34

damn good. So too Buddy

5:36

for ab testing in my opinion, vid

5:38

Iq for content planning, and you know, to me,

5:40

it's like next level now in terms of like the insights

5:42

the competitive insights as well, so I think

5:45

you're right. I mentioned vidq, but I'm pretty sure

5:47

we actually used two Buddy for the

5:49

ab testing and not vid Iq. All right,

5:51

So that is it for today Marketing School

5:53

the io slash Live that's LIV for more

5:55

tips such as this, and by the way, the CEO

5:57

of vid Iq might be there. So that is it

5:59

for today, and yeah, we'll catch

6:01

you later. We appreciate

6:04

6:06
