It has always made me sad (and yes, a little bit bitter) that female writers aren't quite recognized as most writers. For the month of November, we will be reading poetry by the amazing Maya Angelou. She has always been one of my favorites. Let's listen to "Phenomenal Woman" this week. Read by yours truly, here's a poem for your morning exercise or evening blues.
Poetry Reading on WEDNESDAYS. See you next week!
POET OF THE MONTH
Who is Maya Angelou?A poet, memoirist, and civil rights activist. She did it all. She received more than fifty awards and honorary degrees. I hope you enjoy this week's poem. She is best known for her 1969 memoir, I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, which made literary history as the first nonfiction bestseller by an African American woman. She paved the way, y'all. What's your take in this week's chosen poem? What makes a person phenomenal? What made YOU?
