In this episode, the Metal Soul welcomes Tarsh Williams to the show, he’s been headbanging for three decades and reminisces about his initiation into heavy metal music to enlighten us about how it’s helped him define his life’s passion and work. He provides welcome clarity in identifying the key factors of managing difficult times as the ability to channel anger and rebellion into positive foundations.

Tarsh connects with the soul of the music and believes being original will take you places. He’s positive about those feeling ostracized as he postures it means they are standing out from the crowd.

We spoke in length about being a child of circumstance and understood the larger meaning behind that to be if we make an intellectual connection with the music we love, then we do things that instigate feelings in us. Using that impetus eventually helps us define ourselves. He doesn’t miss out on thanking his parents for being forgiving about his musical tastes either.

Metal Soul

Do you ever feel like an outsider in your social circles because of your choice of music? You think and dress differently, talk about things others consider boring? Do you find it hard to make friends? Have you had or are going through a difficult childhood or early adulthood? And is this because heavy metal music is your go-to and you find it hard to connect with others who don’t follow the same interest in this form of music or its themes? You’re not alone. I'm no different. I had a tough childhood, a less than interesting time in school and college and found respite in heavy metal music and haven't looked back since. Many years have passed since those first notes burst through my speakers. Myriad dreams have died on the long road out of Eden, yet I remain true to who I am by embracing this music in its most intrinsic form. I know there's a lot of people out there, who are struggling with their mental health either because of this stereotype perception or simply because they can't articulate themselves in this context and are being socially ostracized. I'll recount my experiences, with friends and guests to explore why heavy metal music is such an emotionally integral part of our life and how it helped us through tough times. If you're like me, then you're one of the countless warriors who carry the heavy metal torch, ever higher into the mountains of thought to escape the beast of reality. Join me on this journey and let yourself go in the knowledge that there is help in the metal music sound, and our numbers are infinite. Bands, personnel, records and more, all that is heavy and dark, lie here in my true metal heart!Metal Soul is an open platform for heavy metal music listeners and practitioners to air their views on the subject and to talk about how it has helped define them as people. It also helps people talk about the downfalls of embracing this music such as social ostracization and peer pressure. It is a judgement-free platform that allows views and opinions to be as varied as the music itself.
