The answer to this question is incredibly subjective and often situationally specific - so I will, as I always do, lay out a path that is mostly universal. 

We'll address the emotions that typically handicap the decision making process such as Fear, Guilt, and Anxiety; Consider relevant information, what's important to you, your feelings, others feelings, tangible impacts, and your possible options; Imagine discussing options with individuals with opinions you care about, play devils advocate to your own opinions, consider the long term effects, and going with your gut to make a final decision.
