Hey friends, you have found the morning mindset.

0:07

I hope that's what you were looking for.

0:09

This is our opportunity to get

0:11

our minds aligned with the truth

0:14

of God's Word today. I

0:17

know you have either been in or have

0:19

seen portrayed on television a courtroom scene where

0:22

they have someone on the witness stand and

0:24

the attorneys are asking questions. That

0:27

scene is all based around. This

0:29

need to get to the truth, to

0:32

understand the facts of a

0:34

situation and what is really true. That

0:37

is an image that is so powerful for me

0:40

when we think about this thing

0:42

that Paul has been describing to us in

0:44

Ephesians chapter 6 called spiritual

0:46

warfare and putting

0:48

on the armor of God which is

0:51

our responsibility as believers in Christ. We

0:53

are going to dig into that today on

0:56

the morning mindset. So

0:58

get out your Bibles, get out

1:00

your journals. If you have a morning mindset

1:02

journal, get that thing out. We are going

1:04

to be digging into Ephesians chapter 6 verse

1:06

14. You

1:08

may hear me mention the morning mindset journal

1:11

and wonder how could I get at my

1:13

hands on one of those. You can go

1:15

to morningmindsetmedia.com/ journal and

1:18

it will take you to an Amazon page where

1:20

you can purchase one for yourself. It is really

1:22

just a guided opportunity for

1:25

you to listen to the morning mindset right down to

1:27

your thoughts and apply them to your

1:29

life maybe in a more specific way than

1:31

you would simply by listening. Go

1:34

to morningmindsetmedia.com/journal. As

1:38

we dig into Ephesians 6 again in

1:40

our Christian behavior series, I am asking

1:42

you to pray with me because we

1:44

need God to be our teacher today.

1:47

Our God and our King, Jesus Christ,

1:50

we bow before you in humility knowing

1:52

that you want to teach us

1:54

today. There's something very

1:56

encouraging, very comforting about

1:58

that. You want my. mind to

2:00

be enlivened with your truth. You want

2:02

my heart to be spurred

2:05

on with your truth. So Lord, give

2:07

me eyes to see your truth today and a mind

2:10

to understand it and a heart that is willing to

2:12

apply it. We ask you to

2:14

do this in us, in your name.

2:16

Amen. As

2:19

Paul has been talking to us about this

2:22

imagery of putting on the armor

2:24

of God, he is now going

2:26

to begin giving us specific parts

2:28

of that armor to consider.

2:31

And remember, all of this is

2:34

imagery, but the imagery has power.

2:36

It represents something real and something

2:38

true in a spiritual sense.

2:41

So Ephesians 6.14 says, Stand therefore, again, he

2:47

is going back to what he has previously

2:49

said. Our goal is to stand against the

2:51

schemes of the devil. And he

2:53

says, Stand therefore, having

2:55

fastened on the belt

2:58

of truth. So

3:00

he is likening this thing

3:02

we call truth, which we are going to talk about

3:04

in a moment, to a belt. So

3:06

imagine a soldier of Paul's

3:09

day, a Roman soldier, having this belt

3:11

strapped around his waist. He has got it

3:13

tightened down, cinched really tightly

3:16

because that belt is going to hold

3:18

some of his weaponry. That

3:21

belt is going to support his midsection. That

3:23

belt is also going to provide some protection.

3:26

And what does Paul say that belt is? He says,

3:30

in our context it is truth. We

3:33

need to go into battle with

3:35

truth, not with what

3:39

we speculate about, not

3:41

with our own theory or our

3:43

own beliefs. We

3:45

need to go into the battle with truth

3:47

because truth is what matters. Go

3:50

back to that courtroom scene. Why

3:52

is everyone asking questions? Why

3:55

is there a person on the witness stand to begin

3:57

with? Well, it is because the to

4:00

uncover the truth so

4:03

that a right judgment can be made

4:05

in that case. So

4:07

turn around and look at your own life. How

4:11

is truth beneficial to you in

4:13

the day to day of your living? Well

4:16

as a parent it is very important to know the

4:18

truth of what is going on between

4:20

your two kids when you have a situation to

4:22

deal with, isn't it? As

4:25

an employer or an employee it is

4:27

very important to know the truth if

4:30

you are going to deal rightly with

4:32

the circumstances and potential conflicts that

4:34

are happening between your workers. You

4:38

see, truth affects all kinds of things

4:41

and it affects most of all how

4:43

we view the world. Because

4:46

remember this context is one of

4:48

spiritual warfare. We have an enemy

4:50

who schemes against us and

4:53

one of the things he does is he distorts

4:56

the truth. If

4:58

you go back to Genesis chapter 3 you

5:00

see that is what he did from the

5:02

very beginning. He distorted the truth, he twisted

5:04

it so that it was no

5:06

longer truth but a lie and

5:09

he convinced Adam and Eve to

5:11

accept his version of the truth. So

5:14

friends when you hear people talk about

5:16

standing in your truth I

5:19

want you to read and reject that idea right away. Because

5:22

there is not my truth in your truth,

5:25

there is God's truth and that

5:27

is all that matters. It is God's

5:29

truth that guards our hearts and minds. And

5:31

Lord we want you to give us your

5:33

truth, to open our eyes to it, to

5:36

help us take it in every day here on the

5:38

morning mindset and in your word. But

5:41

guide us to fight this battle

5:43

according to what you say is

5:45

true. sure

6:00

if you are a believer in Jesus Christ

6:02

or not, we'll become sure.

6:04

Friends, you can know for sure.

script out prayers to God, as

6:29
