Moving On is an innovative employment programme for women in Kerry. We offer women free training, support & links with employers. Moving On is going from strength to strength, with almost 200 participants since we began in 2017. The Moving On programme is very creative and participative. We make every effort to respond to the varying needs of the group each year. The first part of the main ten-week Moving On programme focuses on personal development, supporting women to clarify their vision and goals. Many women have spent years putting others first and as one woman said, “I know what everyone else wants, but I don’t know what I want”. Once women have a clearer idea of where they want to go, we move onto the career preparation phase which includes CVs, networking and interview skills.
Alongside the main Moving On programme, women have the opportunity to access certified computer training with the IT Tralee and Kerry Education and Training Board. We run a weekly series of ‘Inspiring Women’ talks by influential and enthusiastic women in business and the community. We also offer the option of the ‘STEPS To Success Programme’ and a media course with Radio Kerry. Moving On works closely with the Kerry Business Women’s Network and employers to provide professional mentoring support for women looking to find work or to start their own business. The project is particularly interested in supporting the social, economic and creative infrastructure of the region with a view to long term sustainable employment and climate action.
