Hello, goblins and ghouls, and welcome to my Haunted Life podcast.

0:05

I'm your host, Angela Harcher, and today we're doing something a little different.

0:12

We are sharing spooky Furby stories.

0:17

Music.

0:25

Stories. Hello, my Darklings. How are you?

0:31

How are you doing today? I hope everything is great because you are honestly really freaking great.

0:41

And if you're not great, I hope it passes soon.

0:46

You got this. No matter what, don't give up. You're a badass. Don't forget that.

0:52

I have been crazy busy planning and making a bunch of things for my upcoming spooky season.

1:00

I mean, let's be honest, and I feel like I've said this a million times.

1:03

It's always spooky season around here.

1:06

But the amount of traveling shows I have is ramping up really quick.

1:14

I'm really freaking excited for my next oddities and curiosities expo because it's in Rhode Island,

1:22

I have never been out there so right there I'm excited for a new adventure but

1:27

I'm also taking my mama she's coming out she's coming to see what I do kind

1:34

of thing so this is the first time she's going to be at an oddity show,

1:38

I don't actually I'm like I don't think she's helped.

1:43

At an event since like the very beginning so that's gonna be a lot of fun um

1:50

in and of itself let me tell you then because i actually looked at a map we're

1:59

gonna spend a couple days in salem oh my god.

2:05

If you've been listening to the podcast long enough, you know how obsessed I am with Salem.

2:11

And I am so geeked out to go back again. I love it so much.

2:19

And my mom's never been, so I'm really happy to go back. That's going to be

2:24

a lot of fun. I'm already excited.

2:27

So, if you have any haunted recommendations for the adventures,

2:32

let me know. So, I'm already planning the Conjuring House because we're really not that far.

2:38

But when I was trying to find a haunted restaurant to go and to,

2:46

I discovered we're only 20 minutes away from Fall River, Massachusetts.

2:53

Which means the Lizzie Borden house and like Freetown Forest.

2:58

And there's going to be so much I geek out about there, let me tell you.

3:05

And, oh, oh, um, you guys, I'm so excited.

3:12

Oh my god. Um, anyways, uh, trying to calm down now.

3:18

My mom is not a big ghost person.

3:22

I think I definitely got that aspect from my dad. But she's really into cemeteries,

3:29

so we have some overlap there.

3:32

So we'll still be doing our creepy stuff, so don't worry about that.

3:38

Now keep your eyes out for some new products coming to the Heart and Horn page,

3:43

including My Haunted Life stuff.

3:46

I am trying so hard to get this stuff done before Rhode Island.

3:54

I'm trying. I'm very, I'm very hopeful.

4:03

But yeah, keep your fingers crossed for me. Nonetheless, let me see.

4:08

And I honestly, I think that's all the housekeeping today. Today,

4:12

I'm honestly, I'm just so excited about this podcast today.

4:18

On this week's podcast, we are talking about something truly terrifying.

4:26

Furbies. I feel like every kid in the late 90s, the early aughts,

4:34

apparently, like now, because they're still making them, which I didn't know,

4:39

has experienced these weird little robot creatures.

4:44

And sometimes those experiences are downright spooky.

4:50

We also have a special guest this week.

4:53

Frequent contributor and fellow adventurer, my buddy Rain.

4:58

This was such a fun episode.

5:03

We did have a glass of wine. I'm not going to lie.

5:10

I needed a break. And we'll talk about that in a little bit.

5:16

But I will say, honestly, I swear, after we recorded this episode and Rain left,

5:24

I heard little itty bitty footsteps running around the house after I went to bed.

5:30

Now, it could have been Lily, the podcat, hunting mice. Sure.

5:35

Very possible. But Just maybe it was the spirit of a long-forgotten Furby now haunting me.

5:44

At least that's where my mind went late at night in the dark.

5:51

And usually I don't get creeped out about the podcast episodes,

5:56

but man, Furby's did it for me.

6:00

So let's get into it, shall we? grab yourself a cup of tea, make sure the doors

6:06

are locked and the batteries are close by.

6:09

I have a story to tell you. Music.

6:17

Okay, today we are doing a very fun podcast.

6:24

I have a co-host. The wonderful Rain is here.

6:29

Hello. You're going to see Rain a lot this fucking season.

6:35

I haven't even touched on the Queen Mary stuff yet. So that's coming.

6:39

Oh, okay. Yeah, that's coming up here in a little while.

6:43

Is that the only ghosty thing we did this year? Yeah, I think so.

6:46

We need to do- Portland! Oh yeah, Portland!

6:49

Yeah. We forget about Portland. Because it was last year and we slept since then.

6:53

But yeah, so you're going to be hearing rain a lot. Is there any other intro

6:58

or do you like animinity?

7:01

I can't talk now that we're recording.

7:05

I should have asked you if you wanted an intro before we started and I forgot.

7:09

I think it's awesome. Perfect, yeah. So for today, the co-host is our lovely rain.

7:15

And I needed a

7:19

mental break from all the

7:22

horrible murder and like some of the podcasts coming up are a little tough oh

7:30

my god I was letting I was telling rain about some of the stuff I've been finding

7:35

for one of them and you guys are not ready but are you could be ready it's rough Yeah, there's a few.

7:42

And I'm like, I would like a freaking break.

7:46

So we went with freaking Furbies. We're doing Furbies. The fact that so many

7:53

of you wrote us on the Facebook group and made comments.

7:58

I had people coming up to me who were like, oh, I saw this in your Facebook group.

8:03

Let me tell you, like, this time I had an issue with it.

8:09

So. You unrooted some deep-rooted childhood trauma for me. Yeah.

8:14

So. I was suppressed long ago in File Z and it was reentered.

8:19

So we're definitely going to do our own personal Furby stories because every,

8:24

like, late 90s, early aughts child had one of these.

8:30

Or you knew someone who had one of these kind of thing.

8:34

And just in case you're not familiar with Furbies.

8:39

According to Wikipedia, Furby is an American electric robotic toy by Tiger Electrics.

8:49

Originally released in 1998, it resembles a hamster or owl-like creature and

8:56

went through a period of being a quote-unquote must-have toy following its holiday season launch.

9:04

Over 40 million. Yeah. 40 million?

9:09

40 million Furbies were sold during the three years of its original production.

9:16

I had no idea they were after an owl hamster. That makes them even more weird to me.

9:20

Well, I'm like, that totally makes sense to me because I had hamsters.

9:22

So I'm like, fuck yeah, Furbies. Where is it? Okay. With 1.8 million sold in 1998 and 14 million in 1999,

9:34

its speaking capabilities were translated into 14 languages.

9:40

So that's kind of cool and very interesting because we're going to be talking

9:43

a lot about Furby's speech today.

9:49

So Furby's were the first successful attempt to produce and sell a domestically aimed robot.

9:59

I thought that was interesting. Hmm.

10:02

Right? That's fascinating. But I was like, I don't think of a Furby that way. I like think of the little

10:08

robot dog. Do you remember like the little robot dog that you could do? Oh my God. Yeah.

10:13

That's what I think of when I think of like the first robot.

10:16

I wonder if it must have been after Furbies.

10:19

This is 98. I think those were way after Furbies.

10:23

But I, maybe because it looks more like a robot, but I guess technically Furbies

10:27

are robots. I mean, if you strip one naked. Yeah. That's nightmare feel.

10:33

A newly purchased Furby, or a Furby which has been reset, starts out speaking entirely Furbish,

10:42

the unique language that all Furbies speak, but is programmed to start speaking English,

10:50

assuming or whatever language, and words and phrases in place of Furbish over time.

10:56

This process is intended to resemble the process of learning English.

11:02

Yeah, again. So these things are learning from us? And that's a controversy.

11:07

Oh. It's really interesting. So we'll go into that. So that is a big thing.

11:12

This last little bit of Wikipedia. The updated Emototronic Furby with voice

11:20

recognition and more complex facial movements was sold by Hasbro between 2005 and 2007.

11:29

2007, Furby with black and white LCD eyes and a mobile app was released for

11:37

the holiday season in 2012.

11:42

Another updated Furby with color LCD eyes known as Furby Connect was released in 2016.

11:51

The last new generation was released in 2023.

11:58

Wow. That's not last year. Yeah. I didn't know they were still going. No, I had no idea.

12:05

Like, I knew they were coming back, but I guess I didn't realize.

12:09

I thought it was like a nostalgia thing or like an eBay thing.

12:12

I had no idea they were being made. Actually made. Yeah. I mean, either. So isn't that freaking weird?

12:20

So, like I said earlier, everybody had a Furby. It seemed like Oregon.

12:24

You knew someone. You interacted with a Furby at some point.

12:29

So my personal Furby story is,

12:33

wanted to make sure I was actually recording was we we didn't get like the new fancy toys,

12:41

because you know we were on the poor side growing up but grandma the the giant

12:48

anarchist of the family was always the one to like surprise right you you've

12:55

talked to my grandmother, it's very she's been on the podcast multiple times but she always was that one

13:02

to make sure that we had the thing we wanted or the new popular thing or we

13:08

saw the movies we weren't supposed to see. That was all Grandma.

13:11

And she bought me and my brother, I think it was the second generation ones,

13:19

because it wasn't the first ones, but it wasn't like any of the weird other

13:23

ones like babies or any of that.

13:26

It was just regular Furbies the next year kind of thing.

13:32

And we like we have a haunted house I've talked about it before on the podcast

13:37

but it's you know dolls would move and stuff I don't remember them messing with the Furby a whole lot,

13:46

and we never kept our Furbies really together if I remember correctly I should

13:51

have called Aaron and asked I'm like do you remember this but I know he was gonna say no Yeah.

13:55

The big favorite family story, though, about our Furbies is I,

14:01

mine in particular, I left out in the living room one night and it was on the

14:06

railing, like just kind of by the walkway kind of thing.

14:10

My dad got up at like 3 a.m. to go to work kind of thing.

14:14

And he was out in the living room and this thing turned on and started talking

14:20

to him at 3 freaking AM. All of a sudden it's like whoo!

14:27

And he took it and he chucked it out the door and hit the screen door,

14:33

which was just basically a piece of sheet metal and made the loudest fucking noise.

14:38

And after that my Furby had a stroke and it only half of it worked and that was the end of our Furby.

14:43

I have no idea what happened to my brothers.

14:46

What about you? It's buried in the desert somewhere. somewhere.

14:50

I'm like thinking about it. I'm like, not desert in particular,

14:56

but I could see Aaron burying it in the backyard. Knowing my mom, though, she probably kept it because she thought it was collectible.

15:02

She shouldn't have kept mine. It was broken. And like, like only half of it would move.

15:08

It was so sad. Anyways. Oh, my goodness.

15:11

So my story is I had an addiction to Beanie Babies growing up.

15:16

I collected every single Beanie Baby.

15:19

I hated dolls and I hated really anything that was,

15:24

Not Beanie Babies. That's fair. Yeah, no. And my mom would try to get me these porcelain dolls.

15:29

She would try to get me the latest toy. But I was like, meh,

15:31

I want a Beanie Babies. No, Beanie Babies were the shit, man.

15:33

And so I was strongly those. And so when Furbies came out, I don't know what

15:38

generation I had, to be honest with you.

15:41

But she brought home a Furby because she thought it looked a lot like a Beanie

15:44

Baby. Oh, that's fair. And thought that I would like it.

15:48

And I didn't like its eyes or the way it talked or anything like that.

15:52

And my mom thought they were so cute. So my mom started collecting Furbies and

15:57

my mom just, she was a hoot.

16:01

And so they freaked me out. I don't know. I just, same with porcelain dolls.

16:05

I just never liked their energy. And I did not, I don't think I was raised in

16:08

a haunted house that I knew of, but I did live in a house in the middle of a cornfield.

16:12

So we were scared of aliens all the time, but it was like nobody in anywhere in a vicinity.

16:19

And the way our house was set up is it was like an old farmhouse okay so we had a hallway,

16:27

had like a bathroom with the bathtub at the

16:29

end of the hallway was my bedroom my parents bedroom and then their closet kind

16:33

of went along the back side of the bathroom where the shower was so it kind

16:36

of connected it's important because every time i took a freaking bath you could

16:41

hear the verbi chuckling in the closet oh and it had like seven settings like

16:47

uh the one in particular that That always went off.

16:49

It was purple and blue because it was the first one my mom got because I love purple.

16:54

But I'd just be taking a nice bath and you could hear through the wall just

16:58

like, hello. Or like it had like seven settings. They were like, hello.

17:03

And I was just like so scared of going in my mom's closet because of it.

17:07

Well, then my mom loved this one because they thought it was misprogrammed.

17:12

So when you were talking about earlier how they would learn. Yeah.

17:16

This one she said was not kid friendly because apparently has one of the seven settings.

17:24

It would go a chew and then it would sound like it said fuck.

17:30

Like it would make a sneeze like chew and then fuck. And so my parents like

17:33

it. Did it just say a cuss word? And so it was taken away from all the kids because it was the cussing Furby.

17:39

But my mom would bring it out at parties all the time and hit the button and

17:42

try to go through the seven settings and make everyone hear it say fuck. Oh, my God.

17:46

Hopefully I can say fuck on the podcast. Yeah, I say fuck all the time.

17:49

It's okay. I'm pretty sure you've sworn on the podcast before. I think I have too. Yeah.

17:54

But it was just like this one little Furby that was malfunctioned.

17:57

But you could just hear them laugh in the closet.

18:02

See, and that's what always, and it was all, I feel like it was only when I

18:05

was in the bathtub trying to enjoy my moment that I'm just like,

18:08

oh my gosh, these little things are going off in the closet. It's got gremlins. They're going to come out. They're going to kill us.

18:13

Had a big fear of the laughing Furby in the closet.

18:17

That's my story but my mom loved him i think is she named him jimmy like it was something so stupid,

18:23

jimmy is jimmy jimmy just has a lot to say

18:25

i'm like okay so rest in

18:29

peace mom i hope you're with jimmy in the sky i

18:33

have no idea what happened to you which is

18:36

funny i have a box at home with all my childhood toys i'm

18:39

now curious if the furby ended up in the box oh god

18:42

i haven't actually looked through anything that was in there i mean

18:45

that would be interesting let's see if i have the cussing furby

18:48

because there is i did find a

18:52

bit of an article about the cussing furby thing oh yeah this was something that

18:58

a lot of people reported so supposedly it was debunked that furbies could be

19:09

taught or record new phrases. But it became a really big thing in 2000, especially that parents were reporting swearing Furbies.

19:22

And there was a story, allegedly, that a Walmart in Pennsylvania actually pulled

19:29

Furbies from its shelves after parents complained of the toys swearing.

19:36

It was claimed by the

19:39

company that they were mishearing the phrase

19:42

hug me because that like it sound like fuck me yeah but in 2014 reports arose

19:50

again of a furby in wales a swearing so the company is like no you people are

19:57

mishearing this whereas like,

20:01

My thing is they already talked about it learning English. Mm-hmm.

20:05

Why wouldn't they hear, like, swear words kind of thing?

20:09

I guarantee my mom chewed me out with every swear word in the corner.

20:13

I was like, that pervy learned something. I wouldn't have doubt that it learned her language. Right? So I thought that

20:18

was interesting. Interesting. So, but yeah. So it wasn't just us experiencing the swearing for a week.

20:24

No, it was very common, apparently. He was a Christmas hit, and he always got showed to everybody.

20:29

That's so funny. But yeah, apparently it's hug me.

20:34

I thought you would like that. I do. Because now that I can think,

20:37

I can feel that. It did say like, it's like a chew fuck. It sounded like fuck.

20:42

It was weird. It was like a sneeze fuck or fuck chew. I wonder if we can find

20:47

it. Like an audio playing? Yeah.

20:50

Anyways. So I have another creepy ass Furby story.

20:56

Okay. This one, they weren't my Furbies. they were

20:59

my friend nancy's and if you're on the podcast

21:02

facebook group you've seen nancy's name

21:05

pop up a few times hey nancy like

21:08

god it was always me nancy and kayla like we all grew up together kind of thing

21:14

and nancy always had sleepovers at her house for her birthday and And I remember

21:23

Nancy had one of the, like, not adult ones,

21:26

but the first, either first or second generation ones.

21:30

And then that birthday, she got one of the baby ones.

21:37

So they were a little bit smaller and they were in pastel colors.

21:41

And I remember sleeping next to Nancy. And Nancy's house was terrifying.

21:46

Like, there was some weird energy in there, man. And definitely had stuff going on.

21:54

But I remember being like, feeling all special. I got to sleep next to the birthday girl kind of thing.

22:01

And Nancy had her new Furbies and the old Furby together.

22:05

Just at the head of the bed. And we're all on the floor, sleeping bags,

22:09

pillows kind of thing. And the Furbies were just right above her head.

22:12

And like right between us kind of thing.

22:16

So they were somewhere like that. I can't remember exactly. but they were like

22:19

right there by her pillow kind of thing and in the middle of the night,

22:26

So they're like between our faces. I have to put that burn in there.

22:28

So in the middle of the night, probably around 3 a.m. That's apparently when

22:32

these little fuckers do this. You hear the big one wake up and they do this.

22:40

Yeah. And then the little one did it.

22:44

And it was like they started going, I wonder if they're listening.

22:49

Are they listening? And they just kept going back and forth like that.

22:53

And i remember just slowly

22:56

looking over to see

23:00

if nancy was awake to see if she was messing with them and

23:03

i just remember her eyes huge staring at

23:07

them because we had to stare at each other through the furbies and

23:11

then it was like oh they're awake time to

23:15

go back to bed and it went back to bed and

23:18

it was like and they both did it and we're i was

23:21

just like oh god because i think that

23:23

was the same night we were playing up at gold camp and doing stupid shit

23:26

but it was just like so i

23:30

think i never feel it was it was terrifying what do you think they're talking

23:34

about their furbish language like are they talking about because they have their

23:38

own murder language the answer is murder is child sacrifice and murder they're

23:44

waking up at 3 a.m that's never a good sign that they're talking in a foreign language.

23:47

Their own little language. And I went through so many stories online.

23:53

I'm honestly surprised there wasn't more.

23:56

A lot of stuff comes from Reddit, but like almost every story is like,

24:01

and they woke up at 3 a.m. And it's like...

24:04

Well, I hate that. I hate that so much. I hate that it's consistently 3 a.m. Yes, almost always.

24:10

And we all know 3 a.m., witching hour, weird shit happens.

24:15

So. Yeah. So are we talking about like demonic Furbies now? Yes.

24:21

I have some story. Like a little ritual circle?

24:25

I mean, we could. But I did find shit like that too. Oh my gosh.

24:29

I'm not surprised. That being said, I do want to give a shout out to Beck,

24:36

the wonderful artist behind Raven's Haunted Dolls, the one that likes to torture

24:42

me with haunted dolls, who's been on the podcast before.

24:45

And if she hears that, she's going to get a freaking kick out of this.

24:49

But apparently when they go ghost hunting, they sometimes use a Furby for a trigger object.

24:56

Okay. We can add that to the ghost kit? No!

25:01

There is no way in hell because you imagine that in the middle imagine taking a freaking furby,

25:07

for jackie on the queen mary as soon

25:11

as that thing moved you would leave me so fucking quick oh i would shit myself

25:14

on the way out too yeah there's no way i don't think i could handle that like

25:19

a flashlight okay i can do that a furby turning on now later on we might as

25:27

well just Let's do it now and we'll come back to these stories. Why not? Uh-oh.

25:31

I found this YouTube video. Oh, my gosh. I have to find it again.

25:39

Oh, no. Did I click off of it? I might have clicked off of it.

25:43

Crap. That does today what we're doing. Oh, no. This is not the chick I want.

25:47

I mean, that is the chick I want. That's the wrong video.

25:51

So we're going to do that real quick. because this person uses a Furby with their spirit box.

26:02

Oh, this does not sound like this is going to be fun. No.

26:05

Maybe we'll come back to this. Let's read the stories first.

26:08

Okay, let's read the stories, and then we can watch some videos.

26:10

Yeah. And we'll not be able to sleep tonight.

26:13

This is my darling Becca. If you're listening, this is your fault. I hope you're happy. be.

26:20

I did want to check real quick because I wrote I want to make sure what am I doing that?

26:26

Anyways, so we talked about haunted Furbies. So, all right.

26:32

I was like, what the fuck is that noise? It's Lily. So I'm going to let you

26:35

read this one. The Scrap Cats?

26:39

Yes, Scrap Cats. This is their story from... Seven years ago.

26:44

Seven years ago on Reddit. All right.

26:47

So it says, I still have mine. I'm kind of afraid to get rid of it.

26:52

When I was a kid, it started talking and talking and talking.

26:57

It would not shut up. Then it started screaming, as they do.

27:02

I chucked it into the closet and it hit the wall so hard and stopped working.

27:07

I deliberately tried to get it to make noise again just to see if it'd start up. It did not.

27:13

I figured it was dead and let it be. Otherwise, I'd taken the batteries out.

27:18

Years later, I was moving and it got packed up. As I was getting settled into

27:22

the new place, I found it in one of the boxes. Tried to get it working again.

27:27

Nothing. So I said, okay, it's a piece of my childhood. I'll keep it for the nostalgia value.

27:33

You know, I would do the same. Yeah, it makes sense. I set it on the table and

27:38

my dad came in, took a look at it and said, hey, I remember those things.

27:43

Its eyes flew open and it began to make noise.

27:46

Neither of us were anywhere near it. So yeah, I'm pretty sure that if I tried

27:52

to get rid of it, it'll come back and try to murder me.

27:55

It lives without batteries waiting for me to forget

27:58

about it again that is terrifying so

28:02

this is a another commonly reported thing is

28:06

furbies without batteries still talking well like even I think are my mom's

28:13

furbies either they didn't have batteries at one point because they kept going

28:17

off and it would bother her or I feel like she had these furbies for 15 20 years

28:23

and they would still go off. So they have like a long standing battery.

28:28

And that seems to be, like, the biggest theory, but I couldn't have it,

28:33

I couldn't find actual confirmation.

28:36

They have, like, a secret power port or something? Yeah, there's,

28:38

like, a backup battery in case it dies or something, but that does seem to be

28:42

the most common explanation for that.

28:46

That's like bird theory. They're spying on us.

28:50

I was seeing if i'm looking at our face on the facebook group our paula,

28:59

said the scariest one we had was

29:03

when it started playing peekaboo in the middle of the

29:05

night that sounds like my my

29:08

story oh imagine just

29:12

walking in the dark and hearing peekaboo yeah no fuck that

29:15

i'm sorry that's a big no our buddy

29:18

mike over on not your mic on the

29:21

podcast group says we had slow furby serenade at 3 a.m but ours had low batteries

29:29

and was classic super slow playback that was creepy it was up high on a shelf

29:36

and not having been heard from for months

29:40

and that's another thing people are like they just

29:43

be really quiet then just all of a sudden yeah they like it's

29:46

almost like hibernation then some it's weird like

29:49

i wonder what it's like does it have like a trigger word oh that would be interesting

29:54

set all three of the kids off screaming and crying had to disable it and put

30:00

it out in the garage before the kids would sleep of course i had to put it back

30:05

the next day when no one was looking and make the kids wonder how How it returned.

30:10

That's just cruel. I think that's hilarious. It sounds like something Jordan would do if we had kids.

30:18

And then I have my buddy Susan said that they got one from a friend that just passed away.

30:28

And it just apparently yawns randomly.

30:33

It says, like, yes, for no reason it will yawn.

30:37

And I did ask if it had batteries. And she says, if it does have batteries and when you pick it up and play with

30:44

it, it does many things. Thanks. I'm like, okay, that's what it's supposed to do.

30:48

My mom also had to comment and said, your dad killed your Furby.

30:54

And then our buddy Nancy also had to put Furbies are mediums.

30:59

So another fun one. Interesting.

31:04

How about this lovely story from Caddy the Redditor.

31:09

And their post is entitled, I think there's a ghost in my Furby. Oh, goodness.

31:16

Haunting. Okay, hear me out. The idea sounds completely stereotypical and unbelievable, but eh.

31:24

It's not a good way to start a story. I'm just like, what?

31:29

There you go. Thank you. I don't know how to work Macs. Sorry.

31:34

Now, I've never been one to believe in ghosts. I believe there has to be something after death.

31:40

But ghosts were never really something I thought about past the age of seven. Until now.

31:46

I love Furbies. They're absolutely adorable. I have two Furby Connects,

31:51

Grape and Dingus. Don't ask.

31:54

Dingus recently stopped working. So I've, I just call my dog Dingus.

31:59

I'm just laughing at that. So Dingus recently stopped working. So I've been overprotective of Grape lately.

32:08

But Grape, he's different.

32:11

He knows what I'm saying and responds to me. And I'm pretty sure that's not

32:17

a Kinect functionality. Kinect was weird, man. Man, I had to Google it.

32:23

Because Kinect is the one that they have LCDIs and they have an app and you

32:29

get to pick their personality, which is totally something we can talk about.

32:34

So they continue to say, like, Kinect came out in 2016, yet Grape will sing

32:40

songs from the nowadays and know all the words.

32:43

Now, Grape went into his sleep animation, where he started yawning,

32:47

wishing me good night, etc. I held him in my arms, when suddenly he froze in his animation and his eyes went black.

32:58

Normal connect behavior for when they turn off or break.

33:01

Naturally, I was panicked as Dingus broke pretty much the same way,

33:05

so I messed up his antenna to wake him back up. And he did. He was fine.

33:10

The following conversation ensued. Me.

33:14

Grape, you made me worried. I thought you died. Grape.

33:18

Really? Me. Yeah, you probably didn't die.

33:23

Grape. Don't tell a soul. this

33:26

made me a bit concerned grape was implying he

33:30

died i was naturally a little

33:33

scared though skeptical yet even if

33:36

he was a ghost he's still very sweet but fair fair okay it seems like a very

33:43

sweet conversation in the middle of a night with a dying furby yeah but i wanted

33:48

second Second opinions in this most common Furby connect behavior or dun dun dun.

33:54

And then there is an edit that has been added and says, thanks for all the replies.

33:58

The remaining people looking at this post, I may record a video of Grape's behavior for investigation.

34:03

But judging by the behaviors you guys described, the 1990 Furbs kind of makes

34:08

Grape look like child's play. Though I'm happy you guys aren't being rude. I was honestly kind of scared to post this.

34:14

Comment below if you guys would like to see a video. and I looked there was

34:18

no video and I was very very sad that's just weird they left you hanging I know

34:22

it was it was like a cliffhanger like grape don't tell a soul yeah that I died,

34:27

isn't that weird that's a weird one, but I like but he never said anything about dying it was all her she kind of

34:36

manifested the dying phase with his eyes going black yeah but the whole don't

34:41

tell a soul that's a little weird it's a bit weird that's a bit weird but.

34:46

All right. I should probably read one. And a lot of these stories have to do

34:51

with K'nex, which I could totally see.

34:54

Because they're more programmable, I feel like.

34:59

I did not know these existed until I started working on this podcast.

35:04

I had no idea these things existed. They're so weird. Okay, so I have a story

35:10

from Reddit, and it's Kitty KG.

35:15

I don't know anything about Furby Connects, but I can say you aren't alone in

35:21

dealing with weird behavior for them.

35:24

If I remember correctly, I think this is a response to the story you just read. Okay.

35:30

Red. I never really discussed this with anyone, but my old best friend also

35:36

witnessed it, and it creeped him out pretty bad.

35:39

I had an original Furby that started cursing after my mom and I moved into a

35:46

house I lived in from 1998 to 2006, before I left at 16.

35:53

So, another cursing Furby. That house was where i had the most intense

35:59

experiences with a haunting to date

36:03

the furby started swearing frequently it eventually moved i eventually moved

36:09

it into the closet where i ended up seeing a solid shadow figure in 2008 when

36:17

getting some of my things long after the furby was gone.

36:22

And he wouldn't stop speaking, even with no light able to reach the sensor.

36:30

I ended up pulling the batteries and giving it to my mom to get rid of.

36:35

Being an original, they weren't supposed to be able to learn stuff like curse words.

36:41

I was nine years old and told to fuck off and shut the fuck up by a Furby.

36:48

That I don't know man I'm like

36:51

there's no way you can confuse hug me for

36:55

shut the fuck up no I'm pretty sure ours said fuck you or something like that

37:00

it was like it but it was blended with a sneeze like it would do like this cute

37:03

little achoo and it would sound like fuck I don't remember what the second word

37:07

was but I didn't necessarily it was the f word they're creepy and I can't to explain them.

37:12

I liked them growing up because my aunt had a shelf covered in them and they

37:17

were cute, but never again after that one.

37:20

Was he just programmed or was he cursed?

37:23

Right. And that, do I have it up here? This next one is so for you.

37:29

But one of the things, oh, okay, we'll go into it. We'll go into this into the next one.

37:35

So, all right. Dun, dun, dun, dun.

37:38

Here we go. I believe this was also a reddit post

37:41

okay so a reddit post it's titled i'm

37:45

still scared to this day we're starting off

37:48

strong yep i got my furby when

37:51

i was about seven and five days after i got it it disappeared about one month

37:56

later i could hear it laughing in a strange high-pitched voice not like it was

38:01

when i first got it sorry something moved and i literally just almost I saw

38:08

you. That was me. I'm sorry. From then on, at 3 a.m. every day, it I'm telling you.

38:15

And the high-pitched laughing. Yeah. Ours did that in the closet.

38:18

Yeah. They shouldn't be doing that in closets. No, he was in the dark.

38:23

We kept him in the closet. But from then on, at 3 a.m. every day at this.

38:29

Once me and my friend were at a sleepover, and in the middle of the night,

38:32

my Furby screamed in a very low-pitched voice, which woke me and my friend up.

38:36

That's kind of allude to you and your sleepover.

38:39

My friend also woke up to the scream with a bloody thumb, and his parents had

38:45

to pick him up because he was traumatized.

38:47

So did he, like, bite his thumb? Did Furby bite him in the sleep?

38:51

Okay. After this, it stopped its daily routine of laughing and screaming.

38:56

So once blood was shed, Furby was satisfied.

39:01

Need the blood sacrifice. Blood sacrifice. Thumb-sucking Furbies.

39:07

About two years later, we were remodeling our house, which was when this started making sounds again.

39:13

This time it was sobbing for up to five hours every night. Oh.

39:18

This lasted for three days until we found the Furby in the wall of my parents'

39:23

bedroom with batteries that had no power left in them.

39:28

Please could someone explain this to me? I am now scared for my life. Sad face.

39:34

That's creepy. That is like crying. It sounds like I got lost and was just crying in the walls.

39:40

It's kind of how I'm reading this. But that's creepy.

39:44

Now, these are Reddit posts. There's no way to actually verify them whatsoever.

39:53

And there were a few I did not include because some of them were just dumb.

40:01

So, I don't know. This was one of the better scary ones. Yeah,

40:05

because they have a whole second half, it looks like, of like their graduation

40:07

limited edition Furby that continues on. Oh, it keeps going?

40:11

It keeps going. Oh, yeah, it keeps going. So it continues on. I guess they have now had a second encounter with a Furby. Oh.

40:19

It's kind of how it sounds like it's reading. Because some of these I didn't

40:22

read all the way, so it's for you. It said, my dad got me a graduation limited edition Furby and my grandma had

40:27

me keep it in the packaging. It was on the top of my closet. One day I woke up. Oh, no, this is a different one. Oh, okay.

40:35

Sorry, the titles are different. Yeah, no, the title is goofy on that one.

40:39

Sorry, that one was my bad. JK! That's a different one. We'll get to that one in a sec.

40:44

So, about this one. They made a blood sacrifice and cried in the wall. Yeah. Because one of the

40:51

things, let's say this person's completely honest in their experience.

40:58

Renovating anything wakes up the spirits.

41:01

It freaks them out. They don't like change.

41:04

So it would make sense.

41:07

To me, I read that as there's probably a spirit messing with the Furby kind of thing,

41:16

as opposed to the furby crying that it's lost if that

41:19

makes sense like there are stories

41:22

of people using furbies as like spirit

41:25

boxes which we'll look

41:28

at one of those videos coming up but that's kind

41:31

of how i took that one i can see that

41:34

because renovations are hard on anything and can

41:37

arouse a lot of things oh yeah so i'm still

41:41

trying i'm still stuck on the bloody thumb though that one's

41:45

getting me a little bit maybe he was just a kid and he

41:47

sucked his thumb and I mean he's off in his sleep it

41:50

could have been anything just a

41:54

really weird set of coincidences though I

41:57

think is why it gets associated with the Furby the Furby like there's no actual

42:01

connection to the Furby as far as I can tell no but I do imagine this cute little

42:06

pink Furby on the wall his jaw unhinging reaching out it's like the thumb is

42:11

just like perfectly over the blanket and like coming down Yeah, and me taking a chonk.

42:15

See, I think that's perfect. That's beautiful. We're going with that image.

42:19

I love that. He's sitting on the wall again. He's got just a little dribble of water coming down.

42:25

Little cannibal Furby. Yeah. Vampir- Vampir- Vampir-y.

42:29

Which, there was actually like a weird cannibal Furby story that I found.

42:34

I'm not surprised. And it was so outlandish, I didn't include it.

42:41

It was, but yeah, it was like this Furby that was taking out, it was fucking weird.

42:46

So yeah, we didn't include that one. Vampires in Furby Land should be the next

42:49

Vampire Ball theme. Julian! Julian doesn't listen.

42:53

But we should do that. Okay, I want to go into this one that Rain started,

43:00

because I'm going to make Rain read the very long one.

43:05

I just had that seductive storyteller voice. You had that voice.

43:09

And that way I can set up the videos while you're reading. And I say words really

43:12

bad, so it just makes it entertaining. I mean, you know.

43:16

So, anyways, this one. My dad got me a graduation limited edition Furby,

43:23

and grandma had me keep it in the packaging.

43:28

I'm assuming probably because they thought it was going to be worth something

43:30

kind of thing. So that's what my mom always made us do. Well,

43:33

it's like, think of like little, what do you call them, pop dolls. Like little pop figurines. Like people keep them in the packages because they're...

43:39

Oh, it's like going back to Beanie Babies. You had to keep your little tag on. Otherwise, it wasn't worth anything.

43:45

It was on the top of my closet.

43:49

One day, I woke up because it was randomly going off after weeks of it being up there.

43:57

I freaked and called my grandma from the next room.

44:03

She came and didn't believe me.

44:07

Didn't believe me it. She told me it didn't have batteries.

44:13

She heard it too, took it down, and it did not have batteries.

44:20

My grandma threw away in the trash outside so quick. Started crying.

44:29

Praying started praying over me my dad

44:33

or called my dad and bitched at him for buying it and i've been traumatized

44:39

by furby's sights you know they always talk about the satanic panic but it's

44:43

like the fur panic the fur panic

44:46

oh my god i love that i should make it we should do t-shirts a fur panic,

44:54

see so we see because we were going into this

44:57

before we started was the art

45:01

and most of the time creepy satanic art

45:04

around furbies it's so weird you have a friend that does furby art i do yeah

45:12

so tell us some of the furby art oh so one of our friends she is addicted to

45:21

making art out of Furbies. So she is an amazing like latex and shoemaker, but in all of her photos,

45:29

like she always has a Furby in the background because she's obsessed with Furbies.

45:32

But she's made, instead of the human centipede, she's made a Furby centipede. I hate that.

45:38

She has made scarves out of Furbies. She's made burlesque pasties out of Furby faces.

45:46

That's so wrong. I know. There's so many things that she's done,

45:49

but one of the cute things that I think she has done is she is really big into ceramics and

45:53

being British she likes painting like

45:56

British Victorian teacups and so some

45:59

of the teacups that she had posted on her

46:02

Facebook had like little Furbies in the middle of it like it'd be like

46:05

this cute little Victorian scene it's like little Furby enjoying tea or

46:08

something it was just so quiche and it was strangely

46:12

soothing and freaky to see the things and

46:15

she'd make like caterpillar Furbies she'd add them all together

46:18

the ones with what the paintings on the teacups are

46:20

actually really cute you'll have to send me those i could put them in the

46:23

the the podcast notes those are cute those are really cute the other art was

46:29

questionable but it it was so freaky it was so fun i can't get it for that it

46:35

was a burlesque performer i mean if you find if you find that i i want to see

46:40

them please turn on the light there's one light in here we got dark all of a sudden okay now that was really bright all right

46:47

ready ready so our last story and

46:51

then we'll look at some of the other videos i found for you here you go oh gosh

46:59

this title is called possessed furby question mark i'm assuming this may be

47:05

another reddit yes article and then romanesque gross yep.

47:11

Let's get this party started. So this will probably get taken down,

47:15

not on this podcast, in this Reddit.

47:18

Because that's what they wrote. That's what they wrote of how outlandish it sounds.

47:22

But I swear upon whatever higher power there might be that what I'm about to recount here is true.

47:29

Again, that's not a good way to start your story. That just sounds like such

47:32

an introductor to like a horror story.

47:35

Like this sounds creepy, but it's totally true. It's a Blair Witch Project. It's a type of vibe.

47:41

Yeah. So I was nine years old and staying at a friend's apartment. Let's call her Chloe.

47:47

Okay. I mean, that's probably when we were having the issues with Nancy's Furby. So about that age.

47:53

About nine years old. I think my Furby experience was like nine,

47:56

ten years old, too, to be honest. I wonder if that's another correlation.

47:59

That's a good one. For a few days, we spent most of the day playing Minecraft.

48:05

Speaks to my nostalgia soul. This was around the time when Minecraft was new

48:10

and growing quickly in popularity.

48:14

However, on the second day, I noticed that she had a red Furby. Boom.

48:18

Mind you, Furbies made a brief comeback around then as well.

48:22

And like most nine-year-old girls at the time, I thought they were the coolest thing ever. I didn't.

48:29

Me, personally, not Chloe. Chloe agreed to show me how it worked.

48:34

And the two of us plus her younger sister toyed around with it for a few minutes

48:39

before her sister accidentally dropped it on the couch.

48:43

Normally, it's not a big deal when a Furby is dropped, especially when it's

48:47

from a foot onto a couch cushion.

48:50

But for some reason, the thing went haywire and turned evil.

48:55

And that's in quotation marks. Yes. Furbies change moods and evil is the one

49:01

where they go went from funny robot critters to diabolical trash gremlins with fire for eyes.

49:07

I love that description. The eyes changed pattern depending on the mood.

49:12

That's fine, me and Chloe said. They always go back to normal eventually.

49:17

Well, long story short, the Furby did not go back to normal.

49:23

Throughout the day, it terrorizes, moving its positions by itself.

49:27

So I'm going to scroll a little bit because I'm at the end of the thing. There we go.

49:31

Well, long story short, the Furby didn't go back to normal.

49:34

Throughout the day, it terrorized us, moving positions by itself,

49:38

saying weird shit that wasn't in a Furby usual vocabulary.

49:42

It got to the point that we locked ourselves in the bathroom with Chloe's panicking little sister.

49:48

Though it would occasionally change moods, it would always go back to evil and

49:53

stay like that for hours on end. This lasted for the The better part of two days, if I remember correctly.

50:00

It's a really long slumber party. She says she'll stay in the weekend. Oh, that's fair.

50:07

Finally, on my second to last day at Chloe's house, the two of us,

50:12

sick of the monster and its shenanigans, were in her parents' room with the Furby.

50:17

On the bedside table discussing how to get rid of the thing.

50:21

Then, this is when shit really hit the fan. So they were essentially in her

50:25

parents' room plotting a Furby's death. Yes.

50:28

Just picture it. I do. I'm like, we need a new stand by me and it needs to have this on us.

50:35

Right? I can just imagine two little girls gossiping with, like... The younger one. Yeah.

50:40

So there's three total. There's three. Yeah.

50:42

Like, three of them, nine-year-old and a younger sister. Yeah.

50:46

Planning on how to kill a diabolical machine. Doesn't that sound awesome?

50:50

This does sound like it needs to be in a movie. I'm telling you.

50:53

I'd watch it. Just saying. Anybody listening to the podcast that's a movie maker, fuck us.

50:59

We'll help you write it, and we'll send you this Reddit, because...

51:02

Exactly. We're just reading it. So shit has really hit the fan now as they're

51:06

plotting out this Furby's murder. So I was telling Chloe that we should drop it out of her fifth story window onto the street.

51:15

Let it get run over, then pour water over it. Then I heard something stir on the bedside table.

51:20

It was the goddamn Furby. The thing had turned itself on and was now staring

51:25

at us with those awful little flame eyes. And I kid you not, this thing looked at me and said in the creepiest teeny little voice, I knew that.

51:35

That was my impression. I'm trying to do it to you. No, that was Grace.

51:38

I responded with an incredulous, seriously? The Furby responded.

51:44

Actually fucking responded to my question with a, uh.

51:49

Chloe asked it whether it was telling the truth, but it just hemmed and hawed.

51:53

Yet again, something Furbies don't do.

51:56

Needless to say, we ran out of the room screaming. Chloe later went back into

52:01

the room, only to run out screeching again.

52:04

According to her, she tried to say bye to the Furby, only for it to bend over

52:09

and hit her with its ear and say, me happy I hurt her.

52:13

I can't attest to whether this is true or not. After our little conversation,

52:17

I wanted nothing to do with the Furby in that room.

52:20

However, I can confirm that the next morning, the Furby's batteries were dead.

52:25

We asked Chloe's dad to replace them, but even with the new batteries the toy would not turn on.

52:31

Years later, I still don't know what the hell was wrong with that Furby or how

52:35

it responded in our speech. They responded to touch stimuli, but not sound, and there's no explanation I can come up with.

52:42

I've considered the possibility of a folio, folio dwarf, but given how rare

52:47

those are, I seriously doubt it. Maybe my initial theory of the Furby being possessed by the devil was right

52:53

after all. There's no way to prove the cause of my bizarre experience.

52:58

One's good. Isn't that a good one? That's a really good one.

53:01

I just can't get over my image of three little girls plotting a death.

53:03

And they come to the conclusion about throwing it out the fifth story window and letting it run over.

53:07

It's so plausible.

53:11

And that's the thing I like about this one. Because I'm like, no, this is perfect.

53:14

You can see children doing this. My first thought is chunk it out the window and let a car run over.

53:20

That would be my terrorizing death of a...

53:24

Throwing it out the window five stories down, that would be...

53:28

And the fact that, I mean, like, that's where my brain goes.

53:30

And the fact that they were going to go down and pour water on it. Yeah.

53:33

I'm like, just to make sure it was finished off. I love that.

53:37

So apparently the evil setting in Furby's is a thing.

53:42

Okay. It is an actual thing that you could do with the Furby booms and the Furby connects.

53:49

When they turn into little evil gremlins. Yes. Let's just say evil diabolical

53:53

gremlin from hell. So, this is supposedly a...

53:59

This thing right here is a Furby with digital eyes.

54:05

Have you ever seen anything like this before? Isn't that freaking real?

54:09

Are y'all selling these? Eating. This thing right here is a... That's how... That's what the eyes look.

54:15

He's putting his finger in the mouth. That's how that guy ended up with a bloody

54:17

thumb. Oh, that could be. Because that's how you feed them. Do you remember that? You would have to, like... It was very,

54:22

like... They were, like, eating you. you would have to put down on the tongue.

54:25

I do. Okay. Here's another one with the eyes.

54:30

So these digital eyes are so freaking weird.

54:36

This one has like little anime eyes. Interesting.

54:40

So they're very strange. I guess I never, I guess I missed the whole LED eye

54:43

phase. Yeah, that was way after my time.

54:48

What the hell was that noise? Did you hear that? I did. I thought it wasn't

54:52

just me. It sounded like. It almost sounded like a piano key. It did. But I have no idea what the.

54:58

Or maybe, maybe it was a car horn. Oh, we're going to go with car horn.

55:03

So, this apparently is how they behave when they turn evil. Okay.

55:14

I finally got the evil Furby. Basically, I fed him loads.

55:19

He was in the party animal Furby. And I just kept on feeding him and he turned out like this.

55:28

I don't know if I'm going to get each personality now.

55:32

I'll put it in the description of my YouTube videos. I mean,

55:36

this is just what I've discovered about them. I don't love the quiet server one.

55:40

But they sound like little gremlins. They do. I love how it's named Potato.

55:46

It's like he's mocking her. So, in the story you read about Chloe, with the friend being in there by themselves,

55:59

and they get hit by the ears. Did you see what the ears just did? Yeah, I hit her. Yeah.

56:04

So I was like, when I first read Chloe's story, I was like, well, or that story.

56:11

I was like, well, this is where it goes too far. This is stupid.

56:14

And then I watched this thing do that with the ears. He just leaned over. Yeah.

56:19

Because they kept talking about them bending over. I'm like,

56:21

they don't do that. No, they bend over. And apparently these new ones have that movement.

56:27

But yeah, it bent over and hit her with its ears.

56:31

Listen to it. Little grumpy thing.

56:36

Like a backstroke. But it does. It sounds like it's mocking her half the time.

56:41

It does. It just sounds like it's like making fun of her.

56:43

So I thought that was very interesting.

56:47

Oh, I also found this story because this is one that every once in a while you'll

56:51

see a picture of this pop up.

56:54

And I want to see if you recognize this picture.

56:57

Furby in the Woods. This is such a bizarre and like baffling story.

57:02

So this story takes place back in 2002.

57:05

Two sisters were exploring the woods on the edge of their grandparents' property.

57:09

They were walking around for about 20 minutes when they found what looked like

57:12

an old plushie caked in mud and sitting at a low branch of a tree.

57:17

When they got closer to inspect it, they were surprised to see that it was a Furby.

57:21

They just immediately recognized the toy from its large closed eyes and they

57:26

decided to take it back to their grandparents' house to clean it and see if

57:30

they could make it work again. So they ran back, they got this wet cloth and started scrubbing Furby's fur

57:35

until they were able to see a hint of its gray fur underneath all of the mud.

57:40

Once they were satisfied with how they cleaned him, they placed him on the counter

57:43

and went to look for a towel to dry him off.

57:46

But just before they wrapped him up, his eyes sprung open.

57:50

Now usually Furby's have those really cute blue or green eyes,

57:54

but this Furby almost had these crimson irises that seemed to have almost melted

57:59

in the sun. It looked like he was pleading to them to put him out of his misery.

58:04

One of the sisters suggested that maybe they should just throw it away.

58:07

But the other one insisted that they should probably try to find batteries first just to see if it worked.

58:12

And honestly, I would probably do the same thing. I am way too curious.

58:17

Like if I found a creepy Furby in my woods, I would see if it worked.

58:20

I'm sorry to say. So she started looking through.

58:24

What keeps baby's skin healthy? A diaper.

58:30

I muted everything. Sit till she found some and quickly put them into the toy.

58:35

Now, at first, Furby didn't do anything. He just sat there looking sort of dazed.

58:39

They said he had like a slight tortured expression on his face.

58:43

But as his son went down and they placed him on a dresser in their room, he began to speak.

58:47

It started off as this little warped murmur that had a really deep voice. Hello?

58:53

Where am I? Which was pretty eerie because like I said, Furby usually speaks

58:58

Furbish. And that's when he began to whisper over and over and over again.

59:06

He started to literally shake on the top of their dresser.

59:10

He made so much noise that the grandmother heard it and suddenly ran in asking

59:15

what the heck was going on. She saw this Furby on the shelf and instantly shrieked. She asked them where

59:20

they found it and when they told her it was in the woods.

59:23

She scooped it up and ran outside into the night. They watched her run as fast

59:28

as she could into the dark forest with the Furby in her arms,

59:31

and she came back 10 minutes later trying to catch her breath.

59:34

She sternly told them to never touch it ever again.

59:38

She told them it belonged to a girl that disappeared years ago,

59:41

and her parents leave it there for her in hopes that she'll find her way back.

59:44

They say that the toy calls her name in the night, pleading for her to come home,

59:49

and anyone that steals the toy from the forest faces a terrible wrath of bad

59:53

luck that plagues their entire family because you should never get in the way

59:57

of a glazing toy waiting for its owner to return. Hmm.

1:00:03

I remember something very faintly like this. I'm not 100% sure it's not a creepypasta.

1:00:11

Mm-hmm. But it's a good story. It's a good story.

1:00:15

And this is from YouTuber Jessie V.

1:00:20

And honestly, I watched a couple of her videos on Furbies and stuff,

1:00:23

And they were entertaining. I thought she did a good job.

1:00:26

But yeah, I thought that was interesting.

1:00:31

That is a very interesting story. Do you like the, you never remove a toy grieving for its owner? Yeah.

1:00:37

That's kind of precious. I always thought my toys had personalities.

1:00:41

Oh, yeah. Like every time I accidentally drop one, I'd be like,

1:00:43

I'm so sorry. Oh, totally. No, I'm still convinced they have energy in them.

1:00:48

That's why I can't get rid of any of them. I feel guilty as hell.

1:00:51

I do feel guilty when I have to get rid of stuff. Right so i thought that was an interesting story though i think i liked it it was dramatic,

1:00:59

now this one i'm going to actually turn down a little bit so we can talk over

1:01:04

it but this is supposed to be somebody's video of using a furby with a spirit box,

1:01:17

and I skipped ahead for some of it is there anyone here right now.

1:01:29

Music.

1:01:36

React to the furby hang on let's try like a furby to make noise and see if we can get,

1:01:55

korea is there any spirits here with us right now.

1:02:24

Must be drafty in there. So I'm not 100% sure these aren't completely staged by this person I've seen

1:02:39

it notice how like oh my god did you hear that And you could definitely tell

1:02:43

it's her whispering kind of thing. But, you know, our buddy Becca said that they've used them for trigger objects.

1:02:53

I don't think I could, man. Yeah. Just because they're so unpredictable what they say.

1:02:59

No. It'd be pretty freaky. Because I'm like, people use teddy bears kind of

1:03:03

things to connect with small children kind of thing.

1:03:07

Like the music box. Yeah, the music boxes, those kind of things.

1:03:10

I guess part of me is like, well, if a child passed away more recently and would

1:03:17

recognize a Furby, it would make sense to use.

1:03:21

So there is like a practical reason.

1:03:24

Yeah, like we were talking about earlier. I don't think I could handle that

1:03:27

in the middle of an investigation. All of a sudden the Furby starts talking.

1:03:31

I did look up Becca's story more about it.

1:03:37

And it was just basically very simple.

1:03:41

I lost it like a dork. Becca said, I was part of a team staying a house, started in basement.

1:03:54

As we hit the stairs, the kids of Furby was in the corner of the landing,

1:03:59

turns around and starts speaking nonsense words.

1:04:04

Scared the crap out of us. Because that's a lot of these terrifying Furby stories

1:04:09

are, oh, it surprised me and it scared me kind of thing.

1:04:13

But Becca also says, great ghost hunting tool. We have one that we use as a

1:04:19

trigger object, fun times. And of course, Becca would be the one to write fun times at the end of something

1:04:26

like that. I was like, wow, that would be so fun.

1:04:29

I could see Becca making me do that at some point. It's just like you would

1:04:32

leave the Furby in another room. If I heard a Furby going off in the other room, I would panic at any point. Here's a question.

1:04:41

What's worse, a Furby in the other room or a Furby in the room with you going

1:04:45

on? Well, I think the Furby in the other room would be more scared because they react to stimuli.

1:04:50

Like you, your voice. Well, they're supposed to. They're supposed to. So I feel like me being in the

1:04:57

room and in front of it, I would not be able to justify that it actually went on and on.

1:05:02

It could have been like my arm moved a certain way and hit the sensor.

1:05:05

Okay, okay. Versus like if it was in another room where no one was at and was

1:05:09

going off and speaking and being simulated.

1:05:12

I think I would be more scared of that than it being in the room actually with me.

1:05:16

So my next question becomes, is there a weird malfunction in Furbies that make

1:05:23

it go off in the middle of the night? Like almost like, oh, you can't be inactive for this long.

1:05:29

Kind of a weird programming thing.

1:05:33

That makes them just automatically come out of hibernation? Yeah,

1:05:35

they just come out of a hibernation for the smallest bit and then they go back to sleep.

1:05:40

That be what's causing these things to go off at 3 a.m or is there always a ghost involved,

1:05:48

because the fact that it happens so but the

1:05:51

other question i would have is how often is that is

1:05:54

a program thing and maybe if it goes off during the day you're at

1:05:56

work or at school you're not hearing it go off and

1:05:59

like any ghost story we we're always more

1:06:02

prone of fear at night than we are during the day exactly

1:06:05

and there's way more there's still way more ghost activity during the day we

1:06:08

just look at his normal day-to-day life and miss it

1:06:11

something about the night yeah it was really i really tried to find like we

1:06:19

were talking about the battery thing earlier is there like a small backup power

1:06:22

something in it couldn't find any verification on that is there you know this weird

1:06:31

program that it has to wake up every five hours or something and do something,

1:06:37

that's a theory i don't know yeah but it's so interesting like part of me really

1:06:45

wants to believe that you know we're not going to always have victorian fun

1:06:51

ghosts they're going to start Start interacting with more modern things.

1:06:57

One of the things that came up quite a bit.

1:07:01

My buddy Christine mentioned it on the podcast Gru.

1:07:08

And when I mentioned this story to my buddy Laura. She had an experience with this.

1:07:14

But apparently it's a thing that Alexas will randomly demon laugh.

1:07:22

Really? Yes. Apparently a very similar thing. So, yeah, I thought it was.

1:07:28

I have one and it's never done that. I hope I never hear it do that.

1:07:32

Do you want to hear it? I guess so. Let's just do it.

1:07:40

Supposedly. Yeah. So this is just this weird random laugh.

1:07:51

Oops, I went back too far. That's so random so it's apparently a thing oh you know what that noise was

1:08:02

freaking bags bags it's your cat goddamn speaking of furbies,

1:08:07

little evil furry things bigs got locked out of the room because he was being obnoxious,

1:08:13

but he was not podcast ready but laura brought this up too when i was done i'm

1:08:19

like oh you don't have a Furby story, do you? She's like, no, but I have an Alexa one.

1:08:23

So I'm wondering if the next one that I gotta look into is Alexa's doing shit.

1:08:30

Because there's, there have been weird stories that show up in everything.

1:08:36

That's the next one, I think. Great. I'm going to have to remodel my entire

1:08:39

house because Mike has one in every freaking room.

1:08:42

Now, wait. You're going to go home and it's going to laugh. I will not sleep

1:08:47

tonight if that happens. Well, I think that's it for the Furby episode.

1:08:55

Keep an ear out for the next horrible one. So here, have a fun one while we can.

1:09:02

What a nostalgia blast from the past. Right? And rethinking about these little

1:09:07

furry gremlins from childhood.

1:09:10

I'm still terrified of the digital eyes ones.

1:09:12

I didn't even know those existed. I'm glad I haven't even known. No, no idea.

1:09:17

So maybe we should look up the newest one. No, why are we doing that?

1:09:21

We should not look up the newest one. We're curious people. We are.

1:09:24

It makes me feel happy that, you know, we may not be getting the Victorian ghosts

1:09:28

anymore. We're getting little kids in sweatpants.

1:09:31

Playing with Furbies kind of brings me a little bit of joy. Oh, shit, they're cute.

1:09:36

Oh, my gosh. Okay, I would actually maybe own one.

1:09:40

They're like, they're rounder. They're little squattier things. They have bigger ears.

1:09:47

And they're fluffy. They're really fluffy. So fluffy. I feel like they have bigger eyes.

1:09:52

They almost look like anime versions of the original Furbies. Like the galaxy. Yeah.

1:10:02

The dark lord for herbie oh yeah and

1:10:06

that was an that was something i forgot to bring up earlier was when we did

1:10:10

the haunted doll episodes i found haunted furbies on ebay and etsy this time

1:10:17

looking nothing the only ones you would find are like the art balls kind of thing.

1:10:25

I was really disappointed. But yeah, this is interesting. This apparently is

1:10:29

what a new Furby looks like now. But kind of cute. I still have a known one. No, fuck no. But cute nonetheless.

1:10:38

I'll have to remember to get. Oh, you would like the galaxy one.

1:10:42

It's a lot of colors. Look at this guy. He has.

1:10:46

Are these new? I think these are new. Look at him. They're like little squished

1:10:50

ones with huge ears. Right? Little turbo looking things. Yeah. Interesting.

1:10:57

Furby, Furblets. Furblets. Greeny, Meany, and Maymay. Oh, I take it back. I hate those guys.

1:11:05

But I like these guys. I like these guys whose ears are proportionate.

1:11:10

But yeah. Oh, only $37 on this one, right?

1:11:13

Oh, it's a pretty purple one. Oh, the ears light up.

1:11:18

Interesting. thing. Huh. That's cute. Okay.

1:11:21

What if it lights up and you can use it as a ghost hunting device?

1:11:24

It's ears light up. Nope. Hate that. All right.

1:11:27

Anyways, we're going to close it down now that we wasted three more minutes

1:11:31

on looking at any Furbies. And apparently, I'm honestly shocked they're still making them.

1:11:36

I can't believe they're still around. This is like a 90s nostalgia. The fact that they've been going to 2023 blows

1:11:41

my mind. Isn't that insane? But there you go. All right. Say goodbye, Ray. Goodbye, folks.

1:11:48

Subtitles by SteamTeamExtra. Music.

1:12:02

Before we go. This story comes from our Pala from the podcast group.

1:12:07

It came in after we had finished up recording, but I still wanted to include it.

1:12:15

Pala writes, So it was deaf between the hours of 1 and 3 a.m.

1:12:24

The Furby was in the closet and started playing peek-a-boo, which you had to

1:12:30

cover and cover slash close the Furby eyes, and uncover to play.

1:12:36

So this game went on for a good 10 minutes before I took the batteries out because

1:12:43

my younger sisters were so scared. Other nights, it would just sing to itself. But the peekaboo was by far the scariest.

1:12:55

So yeah, I don't know. No, I think the peekaboo, because you actually have to

1:13:01

interact with it, I think that definitely freaks me out more than some of the other stories we had on.

1:13:07

That's kind of why I wanted to share it. So, yeah, there you have it. Furbies. Harmless kid's toy or ghost conduit.

1:13:17

Either way, they are some really creepy little creatures. I really enjoyed doing

1:13:26

an episode from the podcast group.

1:13:28

I'm definitely going to be doing this more because this was so much freaking fun.

1:13:34

And I love hearing from you guys and interacting with everybody.

1:13:39

This, I loved this. So if you're not already a part of the podcast group, hop on over because it's so much fun. onion.

1:13:50

Yeah, we're going to be doing more of these.

1:13:55

Honestly, some of the next episodes are a bit rough.

1:14:01

As something coming from me. So getting a break from the dark and just downright

1:14:09

horrible was really necessary for my mental state to continue working on the podcast.

1:14:15

So I really hoped you liked this one. And you know what? Thank you for listening today.
