In November 2014, the European Space Agency landed a probe on Comet 67P. Known as Philae, this was the primary goal of the Rosetta mission - a 10-year journey from launch to landing. The Philae lander did not anchor into the comet, however, but rather bounced three times, landing in a shaded spot, unable to adequately charge its solar panels.
