Nicole and Marty return from their extended hiatus with a brand-new episode, and they go through an update of all the news (good and bad) that's happened since we last recorded! As part of the roundup, we talk about new gender wage laws in Iceland, review the anniversary of the Women's March, recap the opening of the Time;s Up movement, stumble through the many Aziz Ansari takes, and scream at the top of our lungs about the sentencing of former USA Gymnastics doctor Larry Nassar.

After the break, we talk to Sara Wachter-Boettcher, author of Technically Wrong: Sexist Apps, Biased Algorithms, and Other Threats of Toxic Tech, about the myriad ways biases and cultural insensitivites appear in the technology we use every day. From racist Snapchat filters to prejudiced legal software, Wachter-Boettcher explains how our tech isn't as objective as we think it is - and what can be done about it all.
