David Revere McFadden is Chief Curator and Vice President for Programs and Collections at the Museum of Arts and Design (MAD) in New York City. The Museum of Arts and Design is America's leading cultural institution dedicated to exploring the dynamic synergy among art, craft and design today. With a distinguished permanent collection of over 2,000 objects, the Museum challenges the boundaries that have traditionally separated fine art, craft, decorative, arts and design.Over the course of his career, McFadden has organised more than 120 exhibitions on decorative arts, design, and craft, covering developments from the ancient world to the present day, published more than 100 catalogues, essays, articles, and reviews, and lectured extensively.David visited Australia recently at the invitation of Museums Australia and spoke with Object magazine about the changing face of ceramics around the world and discussed a few of the highlights of the gallery's ceramics collection.
