With the recent onslaught of typhoons ravishing several provinces in the Philippines, calls to address established protocols on disaster management made rounds on social media and among civil society organizations.

In this month’s Open Bar episode, we invited Atty. Lesley Cordero, Senior Disaster Risk Management Specialist and Disaster Risk Management Focal Person in the Philippines at the World Bank. Lesley previously served as an Undersecretary at the Office of the President - Office of the Presidential Assistant for Rehabilitation and Recovery, which was mandated to integrate the reconstruction efforts of government for Typhoon Haiyan “Yolanda”.

In the eight episode of the Open Bar, Lesley provides an objective assessment of the country’s implementation of the Philippine Disaster Reduction and Management Act (RA 10121) and share recommendations in addressing future disasters.
