Captain Tatum has held pivotal roles at American Airlines, including Chief Pilot at DFW, Director of Pilot Recruiting & Development, and A320 Check Airman, before assuming his current role as a B787 Check Airman – but the passion for aviation doesn't end there.

David also lives in an airpark with a hangar at his home and, through the non-profit organization Freedom Flight, uses his Boeing Stearman biplane, along with a C172, to offer free discovery flights to students eager to explore the wonders of aviation.
