I'm doing okay. How are you? I'm

okay. We've got a special episode today.

2:49

Special. Special. Yes. Special. This episode that

2:51

we have today is a bit different.

2:54

Last year, we were contacted on

2:57

Facebook by some women that

2:59

were asking us if we could shed

3:01

some light on their friend, Leanne Davis

3:03

and Beck's death. Leanne's friends

3:05

and family believed that her

3:08

death involved some foul play. So

3:10

we're going to report it to you, her

3:12

story, using interviews from

3:14

her friends and from

3:16

police reports. Yes, we are. You ready?

3:19

I'm ready. Let's go. Each

3:28

year, almost 10 million people are affected by

3:30

intimate partner violence in the United States. According

3:32

to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, this equates

3:35

to around 20 people each minute.

3:37

Despite this, victims of domestic violence continue

3:39

to be stigmatized in

3:42

society and the blame is often placed on

3:44

them instead of their abusers. Before listening to

3:49

Leanne's story, it's important to remember the

3:51

following facts. Victims of domestic violence victims

3:53

of domestic abuse are often tied to

3:56

their abusers in several ways. For example,

3:59

through children. housing and finances.

4:02

These ties make it much more difficult to leave

4:04

and can often be the reason why victims

4:06

choose to go back. There's also

4:08

the embarrassment and shame associated with being

4:11

a victim of abuse, the fear that

4:13

nobody will believe them or the belief

4:15

that they were somehow to blame. It's

4:18

also crucial to note that intimate

4:20

partner violence does not occur immediately

4:22

and the relationship usually begins as

4:25

the total opposite. A term we

4:27

now know is love bombing. The

4:29

abuser will shower their partner with gifts

4:31

and affection and will push for the

4:33

relationship to move faster than it normally

4:36

would. This outpouring of love creates a

4:38

false sense of security and is carefully

4:40

curated to hook someone in. As

4:43

the abuse begins, the victim is left

4:45

feeling confused and hopefully that if they

4:47

just keep trying, the relationship will go

4:49

back to being positive and loving as

4:51

it once was. Unfortunately,

4:54

this rarely happens and the situation

4:56

only becomes more dangerous as time

4:58

goes on. Leanne Davidson

5:01

Beck was known for being fiercely independent,

5:03

tenacious and kind. She had a good

5:05

heart and she was loved by everybody

5:07

who knew her. Leanne was

5:10

a go-getter and her friends say that she'd

5:12

always be the one encouraging them to get

5:14

up and do fun things instead of just

5:16

sitting around bored. She had

5:18

the ability to always find the positive

5:20

and bad situations and she was always

5:23

giggling. Leanne was an only child so

5:25

she made lots of friends throughout her

5:27

life who she remained close to and

5:29

treated like family. For this episode,

5:31

we interviewed two of Leanne's friends. Yeah,

5:34

so my name is Jessie.

5:36

I met Leanne around third

5:38

grade. Our neighborhoods backed

5:41

up to each other and back

5:43

in that time, like riding

5:45

and being outside every day was

5:47

what we did. And

5:50

I met her through just

5:52

being out in the neighborhood, playgrounds,

5:54

bike rides. There's a

5:56

school across the street from us and

5:59

everybody kind of... hung out there and

6:02

She came over one day. She had

6:04

just moved into the area and we

6:07

just Hit it off

6:10

We hung the whole day and then

6:12

every day pretty much that we were

6:14

able to since then and then she

6:16

moved away around 7th grade, I

6:19

believe to New

6:22

Mexico and then Arizona

6:26

and we stayed in touch the entire time Until

6:29

our passing I'm

6:31

Kristen and I met Lee

6:33

Ann in 2012 here in Nebraska

6:40

She had moved here for nursing I

6:42

had just moved here from Nashville and

6:46

February and Miserable

6:48

because we were both used to warmth

6:51

We had a little duplex that

6:53

I moved it on one side The other

6:56

side was vacant for like a week or

6:58

two and then she moved in so

7:01

we met that way mostly from my

7:03

son my little boy was he

7:06

was like three at the time and New

7:09

no stranger and like

7:11

good and bad. Thankfully we live in a small town.

7:13

Thankfully it was Lee Ann so He

7:16

just went over and Mike decided that that

7:18

was going to be his friend Lee

7:21

Ann and her husband at the time and

7:23

so my son basically had us meet

7:25

and We were

7:27

great friends. She only lived here a year,

7:30

but we spent every day

7:32

together We were neighbors. We do things

7:34

together And

7:36

then when she moved away, I visited

7:38

her she would come visit

7:40

me after my daughter was born She came

7:43

out and but we would meet sometimes in

7:45

Denver like which she wanted to go snowboarding

7:47

or something We kept in

7:49

touch the whole time. She was going

7:51

to be a bridesmaid in my wedding

7:53

that September That she

7:55

passed by all accounts

7:57

Lee Ann had everything going for her. She

7:59

was beautiful beautiful, smart and surrounded by

8:01

many people who loved her. She

8:03

also worked extremely hard in her career

8:06

as a nurse and eventually became an

8:08

organ transplant coordinator for the Mayo Clinic.

8:11

Despite the difficulties of nursing, her friends say she

8:13

never complained about her job and she loved what

8:15

she did. As Leanne got older,

8:18

one of her biggest dreams in life was

8:20

to have a loving, happy family. She

8:22

married a first husband in 2012 but

8:25

unfortunately, the relationship didn't work out.

8:28

After a few years, she met another man and had

8:30

fallen pregnant but they went on their separate ways

8:32

before their daughter was born. When

8:35

Leanne's baby was just two months old, she

8:37

met Jason Beck and they began dating in

8:39

July 2019. Leanne

8:42

texted her friends to let them know

8:44

about her new boyfriend and they all

8:46

agreed he sounded great. Jason

8:48

treated her well, showered her with gifts, booked

8:50

holidays for the three of them and helped

8:52

with the baby. So

8:55

I remember her texting

8:57

me and she's like, I met

8:59

this guy, he's really great, he's

9:01

going to take me to Spain,

9:03

he's, you know, she's

9:06

just like the best thing ever. We go,

9:09

we're going to Mexico, we're going to the

9:11

beach, we're going to do this and I'm

9:14

like, okay, like you just had

9:16

this baby and she's like, you

9:18

know, well, but she said

9:20

he wants to marry me

9:23

and I remember

9:25

her saying, he says

9:29

he knows me from high school but I don't

9:31

remember him and I'm like, you know,

9:33

we've been out of high school like a really long time.

9:36

I don't remember half the people

9:38

like at all and she's like,

9:40

yeah, he said that he's always

9:42

liked me and I'm like, that's

9:44

just a little bit odd if

9:46

you don't even remember him. So

9:49

I was already kind of seeing red flags right

9:51

there. But

9:53

then I was really like, whoa, you know,

9:55

you're going to go out of country with

9:57

a newborn baby to Spain, like what is

9:59

he? do I would

10:01

ask these questions because I'm like a lot

10:04

you very much love bombs yeah

10:09

her and she

10:11

was flattered and

10:14

just especially you know especially yeah

10:16

I I was just like a things like

10:18

a lot but I mean as long as

10:21

you're happy I'm I think I still have

10:23

conversations like text conversations from

10:25

that and then

10:28

before I know it she's

10:31

literally like this is not

10:33

very long after they started dating that she's

10:35

like I think he's gonna ask me to

10:37

marry him in Mexico I'm like are you

10:39

sure that you want to do this she's

10:42

like he's picking out a ring right now

10:44

from Jared and I'm like like

10:47

are you I remember going are

10:49

you sure because I'm like

10:51

oh I can't even commit to like writing a

10:54

Facebook post like the first time like I have

10:56

to redo it like how could you like even

10:58

go here and she's just

11:01

like I I don't know

11:04

I'm so nervous for leaving for I

11:06

think it was Rocky Point or something

11:08

where they would always go this weekend

11:10

and the next thing I know she's

11:12

like he did and she sent me

11:14

a picture of the ring I'm like

11:16

holy crap like is that even

11:18

real like is it it was like

11:21

a massive big ring I'm

11:23

like all

11:25

right well I mean

11:27

as long as you're happy because it's so

11:29

hard to tell somebody that they've been through

11:31

a lot and they were

11:33

really sad and you've seen them really

11:36

upset you know after the breakup

11:38

that that it was like I

11:40

don't want to be a dick and

11:42

be like yeah this is fucking weird

11:45

because I asked about

11:49

from that moment on things moved very

11:51

quickly for the end and Jason while

11:53

on holiday at Rocky Point in Mexico

11:55

he asked her to marry him and she

11:57

said yes weeks later and

12:00

announced that she was pregnant with Jason's child.

12:02

The first red flag for both of us

12:04

was when we couldn't even get ahold of

12:06

her. Phone calls or text texts

12:09

like she would usually do. I mean, she

12:11

usually would respond right away and then it

12:13

just kind of would slowly

12:15

get, you know, in between

12:17

like from this time to this time, it

12:19

would get longer in between calls or texts.

12:22

Then I talked it up as, you

12:24

know, having two babies and working and

12:27

then it just then the

12:29

post on Facebook and Instagram, they all

12:31

started getting, you know, I mean, she'd

12:33

post all the time because they were constantly going and doing stuff.

12:35

And then it got, all right, well, she

12:38

hasn't posted in a while what's going on. So I

12:40

would text her and or I'd

12:42

get like a short response. I'm like,

12:44

okay. But I didn't like

12:46

again, I talked about to having two

12:48

babies and working. I

12:51

remember her asking me to be

12:53

part of her wedding, but then

12:55

it quickly changed

12:58

plans that there wasn't going to be like a

13:00

full wedding that first they were just going to

13:03

go elope in Spain. And

13:05

then that changed. And

13:07

I think it was because she was pregnant with

13:09

Colton. And

13:12

then they ended up literally

13:15

like there was no

13:17

date that I knew of

13:19

or anything. And it just like showed up

13:21

on Facebook or she sent me pictures. She's

13:24

like, so I have a nice thanks for

13:26

the notice. Like really.

13:30

And her first wedding wasn't a

13:33

massive wedding, but they did do

13:35

like a destination wedding. And I

13:37

think they went to somewhere in

13:39

Jamaica or something and it was just her

13:42

family. So I don't think a big huge

13:44

wedding was like super important to her. I

13:49

just, I thought it was weird too, that that's

13:52

the route that she kind of went when she

13:54

was kind of planning for something bigger. It

13:58

was, it was odd. It was weird. But I'm

14:00

like, well. Again, wanting your

14:02

friend to be happy. I think

14:05

I remember her saying in Spain, didn't she?

14:07

At one point, say we were going to

14:09

come to Spain. All of us were going

14:11

to go to Spain. And

14:13

then she's like, oh, well, we're not

14:16

going to be able to do that. And

14:18

then it was like, oh, we're planning for

14:20

something else. And then all of a sudden,

14:23

it was like, well, we did it. Yeah,

14:26

which that was odd, knowing

14:29

her. In

14:31

the months following their marriage, Leanne and Jason

14:34

moved into a home together in Peoria, Arizona,

14:36

and their son was born. Although

14:38

it appeared that Leanne was happy during this

14:40

time, she didn't speak to people about what

14:42

was happening at home. And most

14:44

of the following information was not known until much

14:46

later. In September 2020, just over

14:48

a year after they'd first met, Leanne

14:52

called the Peoria Police Department for

14:54

help. She told the dispatcher that

14:56

she had been sitting outside of her mother-in-law's house

14:58

and had been locked out. As

15:00

officers arrived, Leanne was hysterical, as

15:02

she insisted that she just wanted

15:04

to get her son and go

15:06

home. Leanne told officers that

15:09

she and Jason had decided to go

15:11

out for an evening, while Julie, Jason's

15:13

mother, cared for their son. At

15:15

some point during the evening, she and Jason

15:17

had argued because he wanted to go through

15:19

her cell phone. When they got

15:22

back to Julie's house, the verbal

15:24

argument quickly escalated to physical violence.

15:27

Leanne told police that Jason had held her

15:29

down on the bed and had begun strangling

15:32

her. Clearly, she was afraid and

15:34

reluctant to share too many details, as she

15:36

did not want Jason to get into trouble.

15:39

As the police shone their flashlights on

15:41

her, they noted injuries to her neck,

15:43

chest, and bruises appearing on her upper

15:46

arm. At the same

15:48

time, officers interviewing Jason noticed that he also

15:50

had visible marks on his skin, and

15:52

his t-shirt was torn. When he

15:54

was asked what happened, he called Leanne a, quote,

15:56

crazy lady, and claimed he had a video that

15:58

was on the phone. that proved she was the

16:01

one who had assaulted him. Officers

16:03

were eventually shown the footage recorded by

16:05

another adult present in the home. And

16:08

according to the police report, it showed the

16:10

following. Leanne is standing over

16:12

Jason as he is sitting on the couch. She

16:14

pleads with Jason to give her backer keys and

16:17

belongings so she can go home. And

16:19

he repeatedly says, no, or ignores her.

16:23

Leanne becomes frustrated and asks him how he

16:25

can beat her in the bedroom and then

16:27

refuse to give her backer things. She

16:30

then hits Jason across the face before he

16:32

kicks her to the ground and charges at

16:34

her. The video then

16:36

stops. After reviewing the

16:38

video, both Leanne and Jason were taken

16:40

to the Peoria Police Department and they

16:43

were both charged with assault and

16:45

disorderly conduct. Due

16:47

to the nature of Leanne's employment, she had to

16:50

inform her manager that she had been arrested and

16:52

provide details of the incident. This

16:54

was the first time her coworkers were made aware of

16:56

what Leanne was going through at home. Leanne

16:59

completed an anger management course and

17:01

forwarded the certificate over to her employer

17:03

so she could continue her work. She

17:06

also told her manager that Jason refused to attend

17:08

the course with her despite being ordered to do

17:10

so. Unfortunately, it's very

17:12

likely that this initial incident would

17:14

have negatively impacted Leanne's view of

17:16

law enforcement and their ability to

17:18

help her going forward. Despite

17:21

being covered in injuries and trapped in

17:23

her mother-in-law's home, she was videoed

17:25

by witnesses of the abuse and arrested for

17:27

acting in retaliation. Because of

17:29

this, her family and friends can only speculate

17:32

about the number of incidents Leanne must have

17:34

faced alone. In the

17:36

following months, Leanne and Jason moved to a new

17:38

home owned by his mother, Julie Beck. Sadly,

17:41

Leanne's friends believed that this was just

17:43

another manipulation tactic to keep Leanne under

17:45

control. Every time she

17:47

planned to leave, a big gesture would be

17:49

made, making it more difficult for her to walk

17:52

away. The new house was

17:54

directly next door to Julie's own home. It

17:56

was beautiful, big enough for Leanne and

17:58

Jason to live with two. children

18:00

in a safe, quiet neighborhood. In

18:03

addition, while Julie was next door, child care arrangements

18:05

would be less of a worry while Leigh Ann

18:07

worked it from home. The

18:09

house was everything Leigh Ann had dreamed of and

18:11

so she decided to give it another go for

18:13

the sake of the kids. However,

18:16

by February 2021, Leigh Ann

18:19

had experienced several more instances of

18:21

physical violence. She felt she

18:23

had no choice but to leave the home

18:25

and file an order of protection against Jason.

18:28

While giving reasons for the order, she

18:30

explained that on the 13th of February,

18:32

she was trying to go to sleep

18:34

when Jason grabbed her arm and left

18:37

marks including a visible hand-shaped bruise. He

18:39

had also thrown a boot at her head. Just

18:42

a week later, Jason hit Leigh Ann in

18:44

the face and broke her glasses. She

18:46

said he then held her down and put her

18:49

in a chokehold, telling her that

18:51

he was going to quote, put her to

18:53

sleep so that she would never wake up.

18:56

The order of protection was granted on the

18:58

22nd of February and the next day,

19:00

Leigh Ann filed for divorce. That

19:03

February, I get a touch from her

19:05

because I'm trying to plan my wedding. She's going to

19:07

be out here and I'm not allowed

19:09

to send a package to her house. And

19:13

I'm like, she's like, I need you

19:15

to send it to this other address. I'm not living there right

19:17

now and I'm like, what do you mean? And

19:22

so I found out in

19:24

February of 21, she said a

19:26

lot of things that had happened.

19:31

There wasn't massive detail, but it was

19:33

she wasn't there. She

19:35

had moved out to send things

19:37

to her friend's house and

19:39

I'm like, okay.

19:42

So I kind of knew

19:44

something was going on, but

19:46

she didn't elaborate massively. And

19:49

I think she finally saw it at that point

19:52

for a little bit. She saw

19:54

through his crap

19:57

and she was done. stop

20:00

Jason from trying to get her back though.

20:02

Within days of Leanne filing for divorce, he

20:04

wrote the following note pleading with her to

20:07

give him another chance. Here's the

20:09

note quote, Leanne, please

20:11

rethink how far you're taking this. Please

20:14

realize the damage you will cause our

20:16

children. I understand where your

20:18

head is at. Mine too. We need

20:20

some time which I have and will give

20:22

you. I do not want a

20:25

divorce. If we can please resolve our issues

20:27

and go to couples counseling. Please, I want

20:29

to fix us for the kids so they can

20:31

live a happy normal life with

20:34

a family life. Please think

20:36

about this. We can have a new

20:38

fresh start away from the alcohol and

20:40

friends. Please, I love

20:42

you. Please Leanne, think of

20:45

the kids and our futures. Please,

20:47

love Jason. Leanne agreed

20:49

to meet with Jason to discuss the

20:51

relationship and custody arrangements and on the

20:53

1st of March, he convinced her to

20:55

dismiss the order of protection. He

20:58

promised that if she would give him another

21:00

chance, he would attend anger management classes and

21:02

seek therapy for his behavior. A

21:04

week later, she decided to move back into the

21:07

home but she quickly learned that

21:09

Jason had no intention of following through

21:11

with his promises. During

21:13

another brief separation in May 2021, Jason showed

21:17

up at Leanne's workplace and forced his

21:19

way into an employees only

21:21

building that could only be accessed

21:23

with a work badge. He claimed

21:25

he was trying to find Leanne so he could

21:28

retrieve his cell phone. Security then

21:30

removed him and Leanne was left

21:32

feeling completely embarrassed in front of her

21:34

co-workers. On June 5th, 2021,

21:36

the Peoria police were dispatched to

21:39

Jason and Leanne's home following reports

21:41

of another physical altercation. As officers

21:44

arrived, they discovered Leanne, her father

21:46

and her father's friend in a

21:48

verbal altercation with Julie and Jason.

21:51

Leanne told the officers that she was working

21:53

from home that morning when Jason had begun

21:55

arguing with her and accusing her of cheating.

21:57

Jason took her work phone and she had to

21:59

please with Julie to get it back from him. She

22:02

then called her father to let him know what

22:04

was happening and he immediately began

22:06

going to the home with his friend.

22:09

As Leanne was on the phone with her dad, Jason

22:11

took Leanne's keys, debit card, driver's license,

22:14

and work laptop and told her that

22:16

he hoped she got fired so she

22:18

would have to stay with him forever.

22:21

Leanne knew that the argument would escalate so she

22:23

tried to leave the house via the garage, but

22:25

Jason caught up to her and knocked her to the ground

22:28

before dragging her back inside. He

22:30

then wrapped his arms tightly around her chest so

22:32

she couldn't breathe and carried her into the bedroom

22:34

where he pinned her to the bed. As

22:37

she was pinned down, he made punching

22:39

motions towards her face with a closed

22:41

fist and she said that she could

22:43

feel the air movement passing her face. He

22:46

never made contact but repeatedly made

22:48

comments like, quote, dare you to

22:50

fucking breathe or

22:52

move your fucking head and I'm

22:54

going to make contact with you. Leanne

22:57

began screaming for him to get off and to leave

22:59

her alone. At the same

23:01

time, her father had arrived outside and could hear

23:03

his daughter screaming. He began banging on the

23:05

door, demanding to be let in. And

23:08

although Julie was there, she refused to open

23:10

the door for him, fearing he and his

23:12

friends would, quote, hurt Jason. When

23:15

speaking to the police, Julie admitted that Jason

23:17

had chased Leanne out of the home but

23:19

said that this was, quote, just because he

23:21

wanted to get her phone. After

23:24

hearing the details and witnessing the

23:26

visible injuries of Leanne's body, officers

23:28

decided to arrest Jason for assault

23:30

and disorderly conduct. Jason

23:32

was then transported to the police station

23:34

where he was read his Miranda rights.

23:37

During the interview, he claimed that he had

23:39

attempted to speak to Leanne that morning, but

23:41

she seemed annoyed. She told Jason that

23:43

she was working and he grabbed her work

23:45

phone saying, quote, I don't want an argument,

23:47

just two seconds of your time. According

23:49

to Jason, she then punched him in the

23:52

face unprovoked and he had to grab her

23:54

from behind to subdue her. He

23:56

denied holding her down on the bed or chasing her

23:58

out of the home despite multiple witnesses

24:00

who observed him doing so.

24:02

He told officers that he had footage from

24:04

inside the house that would prove his version of

24:07

events, but when they asked to see it, he

24:09

told them that, quote, he would rather

24:11

show a judge. He

24:13

then states that Leanne has hit him,

24:16

quote, about 4,000 times

24:18

over the past few years, but claims

24:20

he doesn't want her to get into trouble as

24:22

she would lose her job and he would take

24:24

the fall. Hours later, as

24:26

he was released, officers advised Jason that he

24:28

wasn't allowed to enter the home he shared

24:30

with Leanne or to have contact with her

24:33

until after he appeared in court. Within

24:35

six hours, Jason had already violated

24:37

those terms. At 5.50

24:40

a.m., Leanne heard the door chime to

24:42

alert her that somebody had entered the home, and

24:44

she knew Jason was the only one with a

24:46

key, and she immediately called the police. As

24:49

Jason walked into the bedroom, he asked her

24:52

who she was on the phone with and

24:54

told her to, hang up

24:56

saying, quote, you're so stupid, I'm just

24:58

getting some stuff. He gathered some

25:00

items and left. Police

25:02

visited Jason at his mother's home, and he

25:04

told them that he was only getting his

25:07

belongings and he didn't think Leanne would

25:09

be there. Again, he was instructed that

25:11

he was not permitted to enter the home

25:13

and was not allowed to contact Leanne. Officers

25:16

decided not to pursue charges for

25:18

this matter, but the police department

25:21

notified a pretrial services about the

25:23

violation. Jason was then

25:25

served with a new order of protection on June 8,

25:27

2021. This time, it

25:30

also included Leanne's place of work so he could

25:32

no longer try to contact her there. Leanne

25:35

then moved out of the home she shared with Jason

25:37

and began living with her father in surprise Arizona. While

25:40

Leanne awaited the upcoming court hearing

25:43

to determine legal decision making and

25:45

custody arrangements for their son, she

25:47

began reaching out to Jason's ex-girlfriends to ask

25:50

if they would be willing to testify in

25:52

court on her behalf. Unfortunately,

25:54

they were all too afraid to do so having

25:56

also experienced abuse in the hands of

25:58

Jason. During this time,

26:00

Leigh Ann also spoke to her friend, Jesse,

26:03

and confided in her about the relationship. Yeah,

26:05

I told her, you're

26:08

more than welcome to come here and stay with us.

26:10

You know, she would call my family, my mom and

26:12

dad, mom and dad. She knew

26:14

us when she was a baby, or not baby, but

26:17

she knew us when she was in third grade, a

26:19

young child. And my family was

26:21

her family, her family was my family. And I told

26:23

her, I said, if you need to get away and

26:25

come up here, you can work your job here. It's

26:28

remote, you come, you

26:31

get out, whatever you need. You're

26:33

always welcome here. And I knew

26:35

it was a long shot because I was so far away.

26:37

And it's hard, you know, to take

26:40

your children to the other side of the country

26:42

pretty much. And, but it was out there,

26:45

I had to offer it. And

26:47

I wish she would have. I

26:49

did the same. I said, you can come out

26:51

here, you know, you can, we have room. You

26:54

can stay, even if it's for a couple weeks, we'll

26:56

hang out, we'll take care of the kids. Whatever,

26:58

you just need to get away. She's

27:00

like, I know, I just can't, you know, he wouldn't

27:02

go for that or whatever. And

27:05

I remember telling her, and I

27:07

remember this distinctively, I have

27:09

it in text still, is that I

27:11

said, this isn't okay. Like, none of

27:13

it is okay. He's not going to

27:15

put hands on you. You

27:17

can't allow this to happen. Like, it's not

27:19

going to be good. And then she says,

27:22

or I'm going to be dead. So

27:24

she knew. Or I'm going to end up dead.

27:26

He's going to kill me. And

27:29

I'm like, it

27:32

was like, I was, you didn't want to

27:34

believe it. Because I'm like, well, she's getting away.

27:37

But she knew what he was completely

27:39

capable of. Like, she's probably leaving close

27:42

to it with him with the way

27:44

he was. But when

27:46

she said, like, it's like, seriously

27:49

haunts me when I remember saying, or

27:52

I'm going to end up dead. Like, he's

27:54

going to kill me. That

27:58

one incident too. In in

28:02

June where her father had came

28:05

he actually had her face down

28:07

on the bed on Her upper

28:09

back so she couldn't breathe. She

28:12

said in their police report that it was hard for

28:14

me to breathe and That's

28:17

when he had you know her driver's

28:19

license her bank card He would he

28:21

would take everything so she could not

28:23

get away keys license debit card computer

28:25

phone So she had

28:27

no way to get away unless she was

28:29

literally on foot which is

28:31

what happened Somebody

28:34

she lost Yeah,

28:40

yeah in

28:42

a back bedroom Where

28:45

I wouldn't imagine she would be Ever

28:48

in her house, you know not even

28:50

there. Right? Yeah, right and

28:53

that was the other thing, you know is that Julie

28:57

could see everything that was going on

28:59

inside that house 24-7

29:02

she had access to the cameras in

29:05

the house next door in the

29:07

garage outside Mm-hmm

29:10

and I Believe

29:13

they had ring cameras. I'm not sure when the

29:15

reason I Think

29:17

yeah, I think I don't know is

29:19

ring inside too. I Think

29:22

I don't know. I just know they had

29:24

cameras in the living room and throughout the

29:26

house the outside of the house the garage

29:30

So Julie could definitely see what was going on.

29:32

I I'd hope that there wasn't one in the

29:34

bedroom But you know

29:36

never know you don't

29:38

and that's yeah that

29:40

June incident too after You

29:43

know they arrested Jason because all of

29:45

Lee and injuries were consistent with what

29:48

she said had happened So

29:50

they arrested Jason Julie

29:53

did not like that. She couldn't

29:56

understand according to the video. She

29:58

could not understand why her precious

30:00

son was getting arrested and Leanne

30:03

was not. Then she

30:05

was very upset because,

30:09

you know, Jason was arrested and Leanne was free

30:11

to go back into the house with her

30:13

father. She was

30:16

flipping out saying, I don't want him

30:18

in my house. This is my house.

30:21

He is not welcome here. And the police

30:24

officer was just like, this

30:26

is Leanne's house. She

30:28

has rights. If she wants

30:30

her father over as a

30:32

guest or a visitor, then that is her

30:35

right. She can do that. And she was

30:38

not happy that she wasn't getting

30:40

her way and John could go

30:42

into his daughter's house and be

30:45

there. So

30:49

when did they file for

30:52

the solution to marriage, right? Isn't

30:54

that what it was? That's what

30:57

it was. Yes. She

31:00

filed for divorce February of 21.

31:07

And then shortly after that,

31:09

she dismissed one of the

31:11

order protections. But

31:14

then he was served with divorce

31:17

papers for separation in

31:19

March, but he did not respond

31:23

until I believe June. Just

31:27

ignoring it, hoping it'll go away. Yeah.

31:30

And then, you know, the suite talk

31:32

her and all that. So

31:37

she had the order protection because

31:40

there was June 6th,

31:42

that's when the day after that, when he

31:44

got arrested, there was, you know, he was

31:48

in with a violation of the

31:50

emergency or

31:52

violated the emergency order protection and

31:54

released under conditions. But

31:57

I don't know why they didn't pursue the charges in

31:59

this case. Those

32:02

are the things we'll never know,

32:04

unfortunately, is why she tracked

32:08

discharge or the order protection. I

32:11

wish that's something we would, but because

32:13

she was always wanting to see the good in

32:15

people and I think that she was

32:17

praying and hoping that things would get better. All

32:20

she wanted was a little family. She loved

32:22

those babies more than anything and

32:24

she wanted it so bad that I think she

32:27

believed that he could change. Maybe

32:29

there was some good to

32:31

him, but it's...

32:34

The bad outweighs the good. Exactly.

32:37

Yup. After that

32:39

June issue, that's when she

32:41

moved in to the surprise

32:44

house with her dad

32:46

and had the order protection and

32:48

that's when she called me after that. The

32:51

court granted the temporary custody orders on August 4,

32:53

2021. LeAnn

32:56

was awarded sole legal decision making for their

32:58

son. However, as Jason was not determined to

33:00

be a risk to the child, he was

33:02

also awarded 50% custody. LeAnn

33:06

and Jason filed a temporary agreement stating

33:08

that neither would consume alcohol for 90

33:10

days and would agree to alcohol testing

33:12

during this period. As

33:15

the end of August approach, LeAnn was preparing to

33:17

fly to Nebraska to be a bridesmaid at her

33:19

friend's Christian wedding. I need to

33:21

tell you something and I'm like, what? Please

33:23

don't tell me you're pregnant for a fox's egg.

33:25

Like please. Like giving

33:28

her a hard time or I'm like,

33:30

and you don't have COVID, like please,

33:32

Ally. She's like, no, no, no. So

33:36

she's the word. Jason

33:38

and I are fucking again,

33:41

which was completely out of

33:43

character for her. She does not talk

33:46

like that. And I'm like, what?

33:49

And I'm like, what do you

33:51

mean? And she's like, where? He

33:54

really wants to come to your wedding. I'm like,

33:56

oh, really? Like I'd never

33:58

met him. And I've heard everything. shitty and

34:00

horrible about this man that I don't want

34:02

to see him because I'm gonna do something

34:04

stupid and I was

34:07

just like I didn't

34:10

know what to say because one hand

34:14

I'm like no

34:16

absolutely not and

34:18

then on the other hand I'm like is that gonna

34:20

make her not be able to come here and

34:24

what is going on like literally what is going

34:26

on because you're supposed to be getting a divorce

34:28

like everything's going good you were doing great what

34:30

is happening and I'm

34:33

again have 20 people here

34:36

I'm trying to take care of

34:38

everybody and I'm like Leanne you

34:41

know I said something in the lines of if

34:44

he comes he

34:46

better not act like an

34:48

idiot he better not touch

34:50

you he better not look at you funny

34:52

yeah if he does he ain't gonna make

34:55

it out I will fucking kill him if

34:57

he's my buddy if he

35:00

is if he's cool I'm cool but

35:02

if he acts a fool and

35:05

as soon as he is super present possessive

35:09

yeah and I'm like you

35:11

know he wouldn't have made it out of

35:13

a cornfield if he

35:15

had put a finger on

35:18

her with these little redneck

35:20

boys that hang around okay

35:23

so they're not under that

35:25

you know they didn't touch the

35:27

amount no no my yeah dough

35:30

and I'm like I

35:32

can't even believe this is happening right now

35:35

like what the hell and I'm super

35:37

confused I regret to this

35:39

day not calling her and going what the

35:42

hell is going on but

35:44

I don't think she was texting me so

35:47

I'm pretty sure that he

35:49

was the one who was talking to me because

35:51

it was not the way Leanne really spoke but

35:54

again in my head I'm going crazy

35:56

I'm doing all kinds of shit I'm

35:58

busy and I'm just like okay, whatever

36:02

happens, happens. And

36:04

to me, when she was so stressed

36:06

and worried about watching the kids or who's going

36:08

to take care of the kids, what's

36:10

going on, I feel like

36:13

she went to Jason to play

36:16

nice because I don't

36:18

think that her parents could have watched the kids

36:21

for three or four days to

36:23

say, I need someone. I mean,

36:25

the daughter, her daughter was totally completely

36:28

could go with that be

36:30

totally fine. Not even a worry

36:32

is baby boy that I in

36:35

my heart, I truly think that

36:37

she went to try to play nice

36:39

and be like, I'm going to this

36:41

wedding. Let's just work things

36:43

out. Let's love

36:46

bomb. Let's make it

36:49

work. And she

36:51

probably fell for it. You

36:54

know, and well, obviously, she just so

36:56

badly wanted and so part of me

36:58

feels like her going back

37:01

was to also so she could come

37:04

here and be a part of what

37:07

she had planned to do. I don't

37:09

think she intended it to be all

37:11

together again, happy go lucky with him.

37:13

But someone who

37:16

could watch her son, it

37:18

threw it threw me off. You know

37:20

that that was even something and then you know,

37:22

and I didn't think this beforehand.

37:24

But after you know, the last almost

37:27

two years, it's like stuck with me like

37:30

that's like the only logical damn thing I

37:32

could think that she was trying to do.

37:35

Sadly, we never made it to the wedding.

40:11

At 3.07 a.m. on the 29th

40:13

of August 2021,

40:15

Jason Beck made a panisk call to 911 stating that his

40:23

wife had vomited and was not breathing.

40:26

He told the operator that she was lying on the bed,

40:29

so he was instructed to move her to

40:31

the floor before attempting CPR. After

40:34

moving her, Jason began giving chest compressions

40:36

but was heard in the background saying,

40:38

quote, she's fucking dead and,

40:40

quote, I can't do it. As

40:43

officers entered the master bedroom, they discovered

40:45

Jason carrying out CPR while Julie stood

40:47

at the foot of the bed filming

40:50

on her cell phone. The

40:52

police took over the compressions and asked Jason and

40:54

Julie to exit the room. They noted

40:56

that Leanne's eyes were fixed and they were

40:59

unable to locate a pulse. Despite

41:01

the life-saving efforts carried out by the officers

41:03

on the scene, Leanne was pronounced

41:05

dead around 3.30 a.m. She

41:08

was just 33 years old. The

41:12

fire department arrived soon after to

41:14

begin their assessment of Leanne's body

41:16

and immediately became suspicious of Jason's

41:18

story. They had located blood

41:20

spots underneath Leanne and could not figure out where

41:22

they were coming from. They then

41:24

made the decision to roll her over

41:27

and discovered several injuries that were previously

41:29

concealed. In addition to these

41:31

fresh wounds all over Leanne's body, she also

41:33

had a golf ball-sized lump on the back

41:35

of her head. Her body

41:37

appeared to be damp as though she had

41:39

been washed and she was surrounded by clear

41:42

liquid. One responding firefighter

41:44

reported that it seemed as though

41:46

Leanne had been deceased for some

41:48

time due to her cold temperature

41:50

and the visible lividity on her

41:52

arms, head and neck. Police

41:55

officers began a search of the home and located

41:57

a yellow towel with blood stains on the floor.

42:00

in the bathroom, long clumps of

42:02

hair, and a mop bucket filled with

42:04

dirty water in the hallway. They

42:06

also observed several dried bloodstains leading

42:09

from the garage to the bedroom.

42:12

In the garage, an officer noted a large

42:14

spider web crack on the passenger

42:16

side window of Leanne's car, which

42:19

Jason and Leanne had been traveling in that

42:21

night. As Jason and

42:23

Julie waited a year if Leanne was

42:25

okay, Officer Joseph McGow decided to take

42:28

an initial statement from Jason. He

42:30

claimed that they had been going through a divorce

42:32

but had reconciled over the previous five days. On

42:35

the evening of Saturday the 28th, they

42:37

had decided to go out for a date night and

42:39

had visited a few bars and restaurants. When

42:42

they returned home around midnight, Leanne had

42:44

vomited in bed. She decided

42:46

to get up and shower and Jason helped her

42:48

clean the vomit from her hair. He

42:51

then left her as he changed

42:53

the bed sheets and when he

42:55

returned, he claimed Leanne was lying

42:57

in the shower in the, quote,

42:59

normal fetal position. Now it's important to

43:02

note that the shower in question is a

43:04

walk-in shower, probably wide enough for

43:06

one person to stand up in. He

43:08

then claims that he turned the shower on

43:10

and dragged Leanne out, helping her

43:13

to get dry. He put Leanne in

43:15

bed and when he glanced at her, it looked

43:17

like she wasn't breathing. He said

43:19

he then, quote, pushed on her as he didn't

43:21

know how to carry out CPR and tried to

43:23

blow in her mouth. As

43:25

she started to turn blue, he panicked and

43:27

called Julie. Following

43:29

this statement, Jason was informed that Leanne

43:32

was dead and he began crying hysterically.

43:35

He tried to re-enter the bedroom but officers

43:37

informed him that he was no longer allowed.

43:40

Both he and Julie were removed from the

43:42

home shortly after. Julie

43:44

was then interviewed and claimed she'd received a

43:46

panicked call from Jason at around 2.30 a.m.

43:48

insisting that she come

43:50

over because something was wrong with Leanne. She

43:53

knew by his voice that something serious had occurred.

43:56

As Julie told police her version of events, she

43:58

didn't hold back on her distancing. stain of for

44:00

Leanne. She claims that she

44:02

finally thought Leanne was faking being dead

44:04

as, quote, she looked good. She

44:07

also described Leanne as bipolar, claiming that

44:09

she would suddenly switch and get angry

44:11

before taking off. Police

44:13

informed Julie that she would have to give her

44:15

cell phone over to officers as part of the

44:17

search warrant, and they noticed that

44:19

her demeanor suddenly changed. She

44:22

started shouting that she needed a lawyer and

44:24

that neither she nor Jason had done anything

44:26

wrong. After several minutes

44:28

of explaining why officers needed to gather

44:30

evidence from her cell phone, Julie

44:33

suddenly admitted that she had filmed a portion of

44:35

the event because she was sure that Leanne

44:37

was faking. She was

44:39

asked why she hadn't already told police this

44:41

information, and she said, quote, because

44:43

it's really traumatic. Jason

44:46

was then interviewed for a second time that

44:48

morning while sitting in an undercover police vehicle.

44:51

He now adds that on his way home from

44:53

their night out, he received a call from another

44:55

woman that he had been pursuing romantically. According

44:58

to Jason, Leanne was upset and

45:00

began crying, but it didn't become

45:03

physical. As they got home, she

45:05

then walked into the house and stumbled into walls as

45:07

she made her way into the bedroom. Jason

45:10

didn't know why her car window was cracked

45:12

and couldn't explain the blood leading from the

45:14

garage to the bedroom as he, quote, never

45:16

touched her. When asked to explain the injuries in

45:19

Leanne's body, he claimed that they may

45:21

be a result of rough sex. He also

45:23

claims that Leanne fell out of the hot

45:25

tub on the evening of the 27th, which could

45:27

have caused her head injury. Finally,

45:29

he told the officers that he had left his

45:32

phone at some point through the night and had

45:34

to use Leanne's cell phone to dial 911. The

45:37

investigation into Leanne's death began and

45:39

police quickly learned that she had

45:41

sent a text message to her

45:44

coworker at 2.51 a.m. just 16

45:46

minutes before 911 was called.

45:49

It said, quote, hey girl, I'm

45:51

not feeling good at all. Made your stomach

45:53

pain. I'm not sure who I'm taking

45:55

over for, but I won't be able to as

45:57

of now. I'm running to the ER

45:59

by my house. If someone can

46:01

cover, hopefully, just for a couple hours,

46:03

I don't want to text all the girls." It

46:08

just doesn't add up at all. And

46:10

the fact that the message was sent

46:12

to the wrong people was even

46:15

more. And it's really

46:18

sad that the people who

46:20

I think was it the

46:22

people who got the message, they immediately knew

46:25

because they weren't working, I think. Correct

46:28

me if I'm wrong with that. They

46:30

were instantly called a welfare check because

46:33

they're like, she's dead. Yeah,

46:35

they knew. Well,

46:37

it didn't follow proper. She

46:40

texted somebody that wasn't supposed

46:42

to be texted. She just

46:44

texted. Correct.

46:47

So, the timeline just doesn't add up. What

46:50

he's saying happened doesn't add up. And unfortunately,

46:52

I don't think those are things that we

46:54

will ever find out. Her

46:56

co-workers were aware of the domestic abuse

46:58

Leanne had suffered and had noticed

47:01

that she had started wearing her wedding ring again.

47:04

The co-worker contacted Leanne's boss to

47:06

inform her of the suspicious text.

47:09

And her boss then called Leanne's father to

47:11

ask if he could carry out a welfare

47:13

check. At 12.06 p.m.,

47:15

Jason was interviewed for a third

47:17

time at the police station and

47:19

only now remembers a significant part

47:21

of the story that could explain

47:24

Leanne's injuries. He

47:26

says that on the way home, Leanne decided she

47:28

needed to pee and jumped out of the car

47:30

while it was traveling at around five miles per

47:32

hour. Jason stopped the car,

47:35

got out to help and found Leanne

47:37

on the ground near the back passenger

47:39

tire. He said she seemed

47:41

fine but sounded drunk and kept yelling.

47:44

After she returned to the car, Jason

47:46

received a call from another woman and

47:48

a verbal argument began. He

47:51

said she got extremely angry and began

47:53

slamming his phone against the dashboard. He

47:55

had no idea where his phone went

47:57

after that and claimed that they had

47:59

a arrived home shortly after. The

48:02

following day, Julie called detectives to inform them that

48:04

Jason had found a cell phone at the side

48:07

of the road in a bush. She

48:09

claims that Jason wanted to hand the phone over to

48:11

the police as he had nothing to hide. A Peoria

48:14

police officer then met Jason at the location where

48:16

he claimed to have had found the phone. Jason

48:19

told him that he had since turned

48:21

it off because he was receiving numerous

48:23

messages accusing him of killing Leanne. He

48:26

directed the officer to the area where Leanne had

48:28

jumped out of the car and said that his

48:30

phone must have fallen out of his pocket when

48:32

he helped her up off the ground. After

48:35

the submission, however, Jason had changed his

48:38

story for the fourth time. Despite

48:41

claiming that Leanne had jumped out of the

48:43

moving vehicle before their verbal argument, he now

48:45

says that he and Leanne were using his

48:47

phone to listen to music on the way

48:49

back when he received the phone call. He

48:52

said the verbal argument began but didn't

48:54

last long before Leanne claimed that she

48:56

had to pee. Jason told

48:59

her to wait as, quote, there was a good

49:01

song on the radio. And he

49:03

began driving the long way home so he could

49:05

listen to it. Despite telling

49:07

her to wait, Leanne jumped out of

49:10

the vehicle and fell to the ground.

49:12

He now says that he picked her up off the

49:14

ground but couldn't remember if she peed or

49:16

not. After this

49:18

conversation, Jason's phone was placed into

49:20

evidence and taken back to the police

49:22

department for further analysis. On

49:25

the 31st of August, Leanne's autopsy was

49:27

carried out. The medical examiner

49:29

states that the abrasions across her body

49:32

were consistent with someone who had exited

49:34

a moving vehicle. Despite

49:36

this, no asphalt or rocks were

49:38

found confirming that the wounds had

49:40

been cleaned. While examining

49:42

Leanne's head, he discovered a large

49:44

skull fracture which had caused

49:47

a significant bleed on the brain. Leanne's

49:49

official cause of death was listed as

49:51

blunt forced trauma to the skull.

49:54

During the autopsy, it was also noted that

49:57

Leanne's bladder was full. According to

49:59

Healthline, it takes approximately 8 to 9

50:01

hours for an adult bladder to fill, meaning

50:04

Leigh Ann did not pee when getting

50:06

out of the car. Her toxicology

50:08

report would also later show that

50:11

she had only tested positive for

50:13

alcohol, caffeine and nicotine. Her

50:15

blood alcohol concentration was around 0.16. Just

50:20

days later, Leigh Ann's body was released to

50:22

Jason by the medical examiner who arranged for

50:25

Leigh Ann's body to be moved to the

50:27

Family Burial and Cremation Center. At

50:29

this stage, Jason had failed to mention that he

50:32

was a suspect in Leigh Ann's death and

50:34

did not have the right to control her

50:36

body or make funeral arrangements due

50:38

to the pending dissolution of marriage. Her

50:41

body was then held for a day before

50:43

private autopsy was carried out at the request

50:45

of Jason's attorney. According

50:48

to the police report, the private autopsy occurred

50:50

on the 4th of September and resulted

50:53

in similar findings to Leigh

50:55

Ann's initial autopsy. In

50:57

his findings, the doctor agreed on the cause of

50:59

death and wrote, quote, these

51:01

injuries are consistent with the reported

51:03

fall or ejection from a motor

51:05

vehicle. No patterned injuries were

51:08

noted that would be consistent with

51:10

tread marks. On

51:12

the 8th of September, Jason also arranged a

51:14

private lie detector test despite not being asked

51:16

to do so. He sent the

51:19

results through to detectives. He was asked

51:21

the following two questions. One, on

51:24

August 29th, did you strike Leigh Ann in

51:26

the head with any object? Answer

51:28

no. Two, on

51:30

August 29th, did you cause Leigh Ann's head

51:33

injury? Answer no. The

51:36

examiner stated that there were no indications

51:38

of deception during this test. However,

51:40

it's important to note that these questions were

51:43

likely provided by Jason himself or his attorney.

51:46

It wasn't until the 9th of September

51:48

that the Peoria Police Department discovered that

51:50

Leigh Ann's body had been released to

51:52

Jason in error. It took

51:54

another day for her body to be located at the

51:56

Heritage Funeral Chapel and her family asked for a hold

51:58

to be put on the phone. her remains. Two

52:02

days later, Julie Beck sent the following

52:04

message to Leanne's parents. Quote,

52:07

Dear John and Lisa, we are

52:09

reaching out to you on behalf of Jason. Jason

52:12

would be interested in setting up communication with

52:14

only the two of you to collaborate with

52:16

funeral proceedings. Jason is aware

52:18

of Leanne's request to be cremated and spread

52:20

into the ocean. There are

52:23

serious safety concerns regarding your side of

52:25

the family from false accusations that have

52:27

been circulating that police made Jason aware

52:29

of. Therefore, there needs

52:31

to be communication to discuss possible

52:33

separate ceremonies as advised by police

52:35

and funeral director. Jason

52:38

wants you guys involved and wants you to come together

52:40

on behalf of Leanne to give her the

52:42

respect and love she deserves at this time.

52:45

Please text back if you are willing to communicate

52:48

a plan. Jason will be

52:50

taking care of all arrangement costs involving his

52:52

wife's resting. Thank you. Leanne

52:55

then filed an emergency appointment of

52:57

special administrator regarding his right to

52:59

control Leanne's funeral arrangements but it

53:02

was quickly denied. The

53:04

following day, Leanne's father John was granted

53:06

a temporary order which finally gave him

53:08

control over Leanne's remains and her

53:10

estate. As the

53:12

investigation continued, detectives received the reports

53:15

from the examination of Leanne, Jason

53:17

and Julie's cell phones which

53:19

gave them more insight into the events that

53:22

unfolded on August 29th. On

53:25

Julie's phone, a series of videos were discovered

53:27

beginning at 3.06 a.m.

53:29

approximately one minute before 911 was

53:31

called. In

53:33

the first video, Julie leaves her residence

53:36

and walks next door to Leanne and

53:38

Jason's home. She

53:40

sounds distressed repeatedly saying, quote, oh

53:42

my god as she makes her

53:44

way inside. As she

53:47

walks into the bedroom, Leanne can be seen

53:49

lying nude on the bed while Jason tells

53:51

Julie that she's not breathing. Jason

53:53

is then seen dialing 911 before

53:55

moving Leanne to the floor and carrying

53:57

out CPR. The video

54:00

cuts off as police arrive. The

54:02

second video taken a few minutes later shows Jason

54:05

in the living room. Throughout

54:07

this video, Julie can be heard offering

54:09

Jason answers to the questions he's being

54:12

asked. For example, as Jason talks to

54:14

officers and struggles to describe what happened,

54:17

she says, quote, you guys

54:19

went to a restaurant, right? And then what?

54:21

When he's describing Leanne throwing up a

54:23

red liquid, she says, quote, red wine,

54:25

right? Because she drinks red wine. As

54:29

these recordings are described in the report,

54:31

an interesting note is made by the

54:33

officer. Quote, observations.

54:36

Julie started recording prior to

54:38

entering Jason's residence, which suggests

54:40

Julie already knew what happened. Julie

54:43

appeared to be secretly recording as

54:45

to capture Jason's act for the

54:47

camera. Julie did not tell

54:50

the officer she had recorded the incident with

54:52

her phone, even when asked about it. Once

54:54

her phone was seized, then she admitted to

54:56

recording the incident. It appears

54:59

Jason's behavior and concern for

55:01

Leanne is inconsistent. There

55:03

were times when he would stop crying and

55:05

showed no emotion. The

55:08

analysis of both Jason and Leanne's phones

55:10

also gave more information regarding the timeline

55:12

of events. Jason received the

55:14

call from the woman he was previously dating at

55:16

1207 a.m. on August 29th.

55:20

At 1231 and 1232

55:22

a.m., Leanne's phone connects to

55:25

Wi-Fi and calls Jason twice for a

55:27

few seconds at a time. It's

55:29

likely that these calls were an attempt

55:31

to locate Jason's cell phone. Leanne

55:34

then receives a call from a friend

55:36

at 204 a.m. but she does not

55:39

answer. At 221,

55:41

222, and 223 a.m.,

55:44

Leanne's phone calls Jason three

55:46

times in quick succession. Again,

55:49

these calls appear to be in an

55:51

attempt to locate his own phone. At

55:54

251 a.m., Leanne sends a text

55:56

to her coworker about being ill

55:58

and needing coverage. at work. 12 minutes

56:02

later at 3.03 a.m. Julie

56:04

is called from Leanne's phone. Finally

56:07

at 3.07 a.m. 911 is

56:09

called. On Jason's

56:11

phone detectives also discovered a disturbing video

56:13

from the 19th of December 2020. It

56:17

shows Leanne sitting on the toilet wearing a

56:19

long-sleeved pink shirt which appears to be

56:21

covered in bloodstains. A large

56:23

bump is also visible on Leanne's head. Jason

56:26

can be heard asking if she gave the wedding

56:28

ring back and Leanne replies that she will.

56:31

Officers then learned of another incident that

56:33

happened much earlier in the relationship just

56:35

months after Leanne and Jason had first

56:37

met. After hearing of Leanne's

56:39

death a couple came forward claiming that on November 30th

56:42

2019 they were

56:44

on their way to a relative's home when they

56:46

observed a female walking down the street. They

56:49

noticed she wasn't wearing a jacket or sweater even

56:51

though it was cold and they thought that was

56:53

odd. After leaving the relative's

56:55

home they noticed the same female again

56:57

except this time she was running from

56:59

the black truck that appeared to be

57:01

chasing her. The couple watched as the male

57:04

got out of the truck and grabbed the female in

57:06

a bear hug and they decided to

57:08

stop their vehicle to see if she needed help. The

57:10

woman then approached the car and asked if she could

57:13

get in. Once again she

57:15

introduced herself as Leanne and explained that her

57:17

boyfriend Jason was getting jealous as he was

57:19

unable to get into her work phone. She

57:22

told them that she was 12 weeks pregnant. They

57:25

asked Leanne where they could take her and she asked to

57:27

be dropped off as her parents home. Following

57:30

this detectives began gathering information about

57:32

Jason's relationship history and they reached

57:34

out to several of his ex

57:36

girlfriends who detailed their own horrifying

57:39

experiences with him. One ex

57:41

girlfriend claims that their relationship had started

57:43

perfectly and Jason was a good guy.

57:46

Unfortunately he quickly became controlling and didn't

57:48

want her to see her family or

57:50

friends. He would call her names

57:52

and would quickly become physical when he was drunk.

57:55

This included slamming her face into the

57:57

steering wheel as she was driving, pushing

57:59

her into the car. into a door frame and slapping

58:01

her across the face. Overall,

58:04

he was extremely insecure and jealous

58:06

when it came to her having any

58:08

friendships or even conversations with other men.

58:11

She told officers that she had heard that Leanne

58:13

was so drunk that she choked on her

58:15

own vomit while Jason was caring for her

58:17

and cleaning the sheets. She

58:19

said she had a hard time believing it

58:22

as the Jason she knew, quote, would have

58:24

just left her in bed. Another

58:26

ex-girlfriend had a similar story. She

58:28

confirms that Jason was also great

58:30

to her in the beginning, but

58:32

suddenly changed. She describes

58:34

him as controlling, jealous, and

58:36

isolating. Jason was also physically

58:39

abusive to her. He would pin her

58:41

to the bed, spit in her face, and leave

58:43

bruises all over her body. While they

58:45

were at a wedding together in another state, Jason

58:48

got jealous as she spoke to another guy. He

58:50

then left the wedding, got on a plane, leaving

58:53

her there all alone. She

58:55

had to arrange to move out of the house when

58:57

Jason was away, as she knew he wouldn't have let

58:59

her leave otherwise. She,

59:01

along with another ex, claimed Jason

59:04

was reliant on Julie, his mother,

59:06

in an unhealthy way. She

59:08

said as she was moving her things, Julie

59:10

came over and began freaking out, implying

59:13

that Jason would kill himself if she left.

59:15

She says Julie was present during every

59:18

argument they had, and although she witnessed

59:20

the abuse, she would still

59:22

have Jason's back. Finally, she

59:24

says she doesn't think that Jason is

59:26

the type to premeditate something, but believes

59:28

he gets too drunk and snaps, only

59:31

later realizing what he has done. A

59:34

third ex-girlfriend also told police that

59:36

Jason was controlling and possessive of

59:38

her, even though the relationship only

59:41

lasted for around a year. When

59:43

they were out in public, he would squeeze her arm and

59:45

tell her to sit down and be quiet. He

59:47

would take money from her under the guise of

59:49

saving it, and would also take her cell phone

59:52

and refuse to give it back. She

59:54

tried to leave the house multiple times and had to

59:56

do it when She was out of

59:58

Jason's eye light, or. When he was

1:00:00

distracted. She. Ran away multiple times

1:00:02

barefoot as she didn't want to alert

1:00:05

him by getting shoes. On

1:00:07

the Southern Society where a twenty twenty two.

1:00:09

The. Medical Examiner's report was finalized and

1:00:12

forwarded to the Peoria Police Department.

1:00:15

It. States quote. The.

1:00:17

Constellation of findings is consistent with a strong

1:00:19

blow to the back of the head. These.

1:00:22

Injuries would likely have not been

1:00:24

immediately and incapacitating. and the dissidents

1:00:26

that have been punches and mobile.

1:00:28

For. A short period of time. These.

1:00:30

Injuries could be consistent with a fall

1:00:32

jump out of the moving motor vehicle.

1:00:35

However, Being pushed out of a

1:00:37

moving vehicle or other inflicted trauma cannot

1:00:39

be ruled out. Therefore,

1:00:42

It is further my opinions as a

1:00:44

matter of death is best classified as

1:00:46

undetermined. On. March Twenty

1:00:48

Ninth, Two thousand and Twenty

1:00:50

two detectives served a search

1:00:53

warrant to bring the video

1:00:55

company. Requesting. Ah Security

1:00:57

videos from August Twenty eighth to August

1:00:59

Twenty Ninth. Two Thousand And Twenty One.

1:01:02

And. Fortunately, bring responded claiming

1:01:04

that. Their data retention period was

1:01:06

just sixty days. Meaning. This

1:01:09

evidence was now lost. Say.

1:01:11

Even interviewed a bartender at one at a

1:01:13

restaurant that they were. as you said at

1:01:16

one point. Jason. Had taken

1:01:18

the chair early and was sitting and

1:01:20

and hold her closer to him very

1:01:22

aggressively. And. Said to him and

1:01:24

dealing with this crazy bitch. And

1:01:27

the wife of the bar sadly and

1:01:29

had was down she was very close

1:01:31

off the people. Just. Looking

1:01:34

down the time. Like those

1:01:36

factor how everybody knew her like that

1:01:38

was not her like he just

1:01:40

slipped. Of who

1:01:42

she was completely like. that was

1:01:45

not her. she never kelly and

1:01:47

down and quiet. She was.

1:01:49

she didn't player. And

1:01:51

officer from the the Secular Crimes unit

1:01:53

also assess the damage. Silly and passenger

1:01:56

side window. he discovered two

1:01:58

point of impact were contacted been made

1:02:00

and observed a spider web

1:02:03

crack spreading across the window. As

1:02:05

he opened the door, he found that the

1:02:08

glass was bulging and pushed outwards towards the

1:02:10

outside of the vehicle. He

1:02:12

concluded that the initial impact had

1:02:14

occurred inside the vehicle, forcing the

1:02:16

window to bulge outward and crack.

1:02:20

In October of 2022, Leanne's

1:02:22

case was reclassified as a

1:02:24

homicide investigation and the file

1:02:26

was submitted to the Maricopa

1:02:29

County Attorney's Office requesting negligent

1:02:31

homicide charges against Jason Beck.

1:02:33

On Tuesday, November 15, 2022,

1:02:36

the Peoria Police Department

1:02:38

received a letter in response claiming

1:02:41

that an attorney had reviewed

1:02:43

the report and made the

1:02:45

decision to decline prosecution due

1:02:47

to quote, no reasonable likelihood

1:02:49

of conviction. The case

1:02:51

was then closed. He's still

1:02:53

doing it. He is still to this day.

1:02:56

And the thing is, is that some

1:02:58

of these incidents with exes were him

1:03:00

in high school. He

1:03:03

was in high school. Like seriously, it's

1:03:05

like a serial person throughout their entire

1:03:08

life. They're just going to keep doing

1:03:10

this. They don't change. They don't like

1:03:12

I wish I could drive that into

1:03:15

every single female's brain. They

1:03:17

do not change. They're not going

1:03:19

to change. You have to

1:03:22

run. There's nothing, nothing,

1:03:24

nothing that they can do. I

1:03:27

mean, God, there might be one single person out

1:03:29

there. I don't know, but I don't believe it.

1:03:31

Like I will never ever. Like,

1:03:35

I so fiercely drive this into

1:03:37

my daughter. Poor thing. She's

1:03:39

10 years old. She's like my mom's nuts. But one

1:03:42

day she's going to learn. And

1:03:45

it goes back to, you know, how me

1:03:47

and Jesse were very like, we want to be

1:03:49

supportive of our friends. I don't want to

1:03:51

be a downer. I'm an

1:03:53

asshole now. Like I feel bad and I prefaced

1:03:55

it to all my friends. I'm like, listen, if

1:03:58

it wasn't for this, I wouldn't be saying. this

1:04:00

but I think you need to run because

1:04:02

this is a giant red flag instead of

1:04:04

being like oh that sounds so great sounds

1:04:06

so charming like no wait let's dig in

1:04:09

a little deeper even

1:04:11

though we'll never know what

1:04:13

happened that night or behind

1:04:16

closed doors with them if

1:04:18

we can get her story out and

1:04:20

save one girl two girls

1:04:22

from him which we've already saved one a

1:04:24

couple weeks ago then we're doing something and

1:04:27

I know she'd be proud of us and

1:04:29

that's that's all we can do as

1:04:32

of today Leanne's case remains closed

1:04:34

and Jason continues to have full

1:04:36

custody of his and Leanne's son

1:04:39

if you're interested or would like more information
