1:02

Acts Chapter two, Serm Verse fourteen.

1:04

But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted

1:06

up his voice and said, unto them, ye men of

1:08

Judea, and all ye that dwell

1:11

at Jerusalem, be this known unto you,

1:13

and hearken to my words. For

1:15

these are not drunken as you suppose,

1:18

seeing it is but the third hour

1:20

of to day. But this is that

1:22

which was spoken by the prophet

1:24

Joy, and it shall come to pass

1:26

in the last day. He saith God, I will pour out

1:29

my spirit upon all flesh. Your

1:31

sons and your daughter shall prophesy and all

1:33

and your young men shall see visions, and

1:36

your old men shall dream dreams.

1:39

Let's go skip down verse thirty six. Therefore,

1:42

let all the house of Israel know assuredly

1:45

that God has made that same Jesus

1:48

whom ye have crucified, both

1:51

Lord and Christ.

1:54

And now when they hurt this, they were pricked

1:56

in their heart and said, unto

1:58

Peter and to the rest of the apostle

2:02

men and brothers, what shall

2:04

we do? And then Peter said

2:06

unto them, repent and be baptize

2:09

every one of you in the name of Jesus

2:11

Christ for the remission of sins, and

2:13

you shall receive the gift of the

2:15

Holy Ghost.

2:16

Amen.

2:18

I want to preach to your hearts this morning from

2:21

this subject. Your

2:23

best sermon, your

2:27

best sermon? How

2:30

well can you preach? I

2:33

mean, you know, come on, everybody probably

2:36

at some point have played preaching.

2:41

This past week.

2:42

I was taking the boys to school one morning,

2:44

and I tuned in and Bishop g the late

2:47

Bishop G. Patterson, who was preaching,

2:49

and he was preaching on Jonah and

2:51

his message was just so profound. I

2:53

mean, I've always just loved hearing him preach. And

2:56

then it got to the hoop, pard

2:58

And I have to be honest with you, y'all, my

3:01

favorite hooping preacher in all the world

3:03

is Bishop ge Patterson. I mean I

3:06

felt like nobody just could as hoop

3:09

as sweet as the late Bishop

3:11

ged Patterson. So when he got to

3:13

the hoop, like in a good preacher,

3:16

I started hooping right along with him. And

3:19

before I knew ed, I heard a

3:21

sound out the back seat. Brandon,

3:24

my youngest twelve year old, he had

3:26

started hooping in as well. And the

3:31

sad thing about it is is Brandon's

3:33

hoop sounded better than my hoo. I'm

3:37

pretty sure that all of us

3:39

at some point probably marked some

3:41

preachers have imitated preachers.

3:44

I mean even parents talk about

3:46

their young children and how

3:48

they imitate means sometime

3:51

and I think everybody probably got downpacked

3:53

my you know, it

3:55

seemed like that's the one something that the

3:58

young folks always remember of

4:00

my sermon. But in reality,

4:02

Brown as believers of

4:04

Jesus Christ. Believe it or not, every last

4:06

one of us are preachers. Every

4:09

last one of us have been called to proclaim

4:12

the good news, the Gospel of

4:15

Jesus Christ. Believe it or not, each

4:17

one of us we are living

4:20

sermons, and we

4:22

are demonstrating the power

4:25

of the Gospel.

4:26

Of Jesus Christ.

4:28

What I do on Sundays behind this

4:30

pulpit is really what you do

4:32

on a day by day basis Monday,

4:35

Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday.

4:38

You might not do it behind a pulpit,

4:40

but you're preaching sitting at the desk.

4:43

You're preaching, working on the assembly

4:46

line. You are preaching sitting

4:48

there in the classroom, even

4:50

as you are checking folks

4:52

out in the grocery store.

4:55

You are delivering a

4:57

sermon. And shall I stop about to share with us

4:59

this and that. Since discernment is

5:02

so important in the saving

5:04

of souls, we need to get

5:06

it right. We need to get it right

5:09

if folks are going to come to know

5:11

Christ, if people are going to be

5:13

saved. God has used

5:16

the preaching of the Gospel.

5:18

That's what Paul said in Romans chapter one and verse

5:20

sixteen. I'm not ashamed of the Gospel

5:22

of Christ, for it is the power

5:25

of God. I'm too salvation

5:27

to everyone that believeth

5:29

to the jew first, and the Greek also,

5:32

he said even in one Corinthians one in

5:34

twenty one. For after that,

5:36

in the wisdom of God, the world by

5:38

wisdom knew not God.

5:41

But it please God.

5:42

By the foolishness of preaching

5:45

to save them that

5:47

believe.

5:48

God said, I'm going to use preaching.

5:50

I'm going to use the proclamation of the

5:52

gospel message of Jesus Christ to

5:55

win folks unto Jesus Christ.

5:57

And so Peter here on the day

5:59

of Pennic he stands

6:01

on this day, and he is going to preach

6:03

a sermon.

6:04

And the sermon was.

6:06

So effective until it cut

6:08

through the hearts of the hearers

6:10

and they became saved. Three

6:13

thousand folks came crying, what

6:15

must we do to be saved?

6:18

And they gave their hearts to Jesus Christ. What in

6:20

the world, how can we preach good sermons?

6:22

How can each one of us live

6:25

good sermons to the point where it can

6:27

cause others to come to no Christ.

6:30

Well, I want to just tell you what a good sermon is

6:32

all about how it looks. And what made this sermon

6:34

so effective was number one, it was

6:36

clear.

6:38

It was clear.

6:38

Look, when it comes to the message,

6:41

we must know it and we

6:44

must make the message clear.

6:47

Peter.

6:48

Here he begins at verse sixteen.

6:50

Do you see how he starts. He

6:52

starts with but this is

6:54

that which was spoken of by the

6:57

prophet Joel.

6:59

He started with what was right there on

7:01

hand.

7:01

They were all amazed after folks speaking

7:04

that, and everybody could hear them in their

7:06

own tongue. And Peter used that

7:08

as just an open door

7:11

to say, look what you're looking at.

7:13

Now you think these folks are drunk,

7:15

but we want you to know we're not drunk

7:17

with wine. It's just

7:20

it's not even nine o'clock in the morning. We're

7:22

not drunk with wine, but we I

7:24

feel with the Holy Spirit.

7:28

And they used that point there because he was headed

7:30

somewhere, and he was head up to verse

7:32

thirty six, where he says, I want you

7:34

to know that this same Jesus whom

7:37

you have crucified, God

7:39

has made him both Lord

7:42

and Christ.

7:44

Peter said.

7:45

Peter's message was all about

7:47

the gospel, the good news

7:50

of Jesus Christ, and what a statement

7:52

of affirmation and verse thirty six

7:55

speaking about the deity of Christ,

7:57

He's Lord, as well as

8:00

the mission of Christ, the

8:02

fact that he is Christ, the Messiah,

8:05

the anointed one that is sent from

8:07

God.

8:08

He was very clear about

8:10

his message.

8:12

He wanted them to know that Jesus is more than

8:14

just a baby wrapped in swattening clothes,

8:16

lad in a manger. He's more than just a

8:19

babe born to a version. None of all

8:21

this. Jesus is sovereign

8:23

and save you. He's the

8:26

creator and he's also the converter.

8:28

He's our father who made us,

8:31

and at the same time, he's our elder

8:33

brother who interceded on

8:35

our behalf. Look, y'all, when it comes

8:37

to the gospel message, when it comes to

8:39

the good News of Jesus Christ, we

8:42

need to be clear about

8:44

the message. We need to

8:46

know who it is that we are preaching about and

8:48

what it is it is all about.

8:51

What is the gospel? What is the good news of Jesus

8:53

Christ.

8:53

I'm glad you asked first Corinthians, Chapter

8:55

fifteen, verses.

8:57

One through four.

8:57

The good news of Jesus Christ is

8:59

the life, death,

9:02

burial, and resurrection

9:05

of Jesus Christ. If you want to know

9:07

what the gospel is is it's the life of Jesus.

9:09

Look, he lived, and he lived to set

9:11

an example for each one of us. It's

9:14

the death of Jesus. He died

9:16

to pay the sin debt for

9:18

each one of us. The burial

9:21

of Jesus. He went into a grave,

9:23

stay there three day, so there is no

9:25

doubt that he did die. But it's

9:27

the resurrection of Jesus,

9:30

the fact that he has all power that even

9:33

conquers. Say that and death and

9:35

the grave, and we need to know

9:38

the message that

9:40

we preach. Now, this is what I like about this message.

9:42

Do you see what Peter did there in verse sixteen.

9:45

He looked for an open door, and

9:47

when he saw the open door, the folks being

9:49

amazed at those speaking

9:52

in tongue, he used that open

9:54

door to walk through it. And

9:56

then he began to use the

9:58

Old Testament the New Testament

10:02

David to talk about and to

10:04

prove who Jesus really

10:06

is. He used the Old Testament prophets

10:09

because he talked went back to Joel chapter

10:11

two, said this is just a fulfillment

10:14

of Joel, a partial fulfillment of Joel

10:16

chapter two.

10:17

The spirit being poured out.

10:19

He even used a New Testament verse twenty

10:21

two through twenty four. He said, look, the

10:23

miracles that Jesus did, they

10:25

just weren't any old miracles, but

10:27

they were wonders. They were

10:30

signs to point to whom

10:32

Jesus really was. Every

10:34

miracle that Jesus did, there was

10:37

some significant behind

10:39

the miracle to take two

10:41

fish and five loaves of bread and feed

10:43

a month to two. Look, that was really

10:45

saying I'm the bread of life.

10:48

Moses talked about bread, and

10:50

Moses gave y'all bread from heaven.

10:53

But Jesus said, I am

10:55

the bread that can sustain and

10:57

intact deliver you. When he opened

11:00

blinded eyes to

11:02

be able to take spit and to mix

11:04

it in with dirt, make the mud pie

11:06

and naughty blinded eyes,

11:09

he was in, I can open even the blinded

11:12

eyes of your spiritual heart

11:15

to say that I'm the water of

11:17

life, to say that I'm the

11:19

water of life and that.

11:21

I can give and quench you.

11:22

Every third he says, Look, all

11:25

of those miracles.

11:26

Were sign of who Jesus

11:28

is. He said. Even David pointed out

11:30

who Jesus was. Verse twenty five through thirty

11:32

six.

11:33

David as a Prophet himself talked

11:35

about that Jesus was one to die

11:38

and was going to go into the grave. But he

11:40

was quoting from Psalm sixteen when

11:42

David said, you will not leave my soul

11:44

in hell, but you're gonna bring

11:46

me out, And that was talking about the resurrection

11:50

of Jesus Christ.

11:51

And this is what I like. In verse thirty two, he

11:53

said, y'all know what.

11:55

We're even witnesses as well, because

11:57

we have seen him for ourselves.

11:59

We are eye witness that God

12:02

raised him from the dead.

12:05

He was clear about

12:07

the message. Brothers and sisters know

12:10

the Gospel, know the Bible so

12:13

well, until each one of us ought to

12:15

be clear about who Jesus

12:17

is, what he came to do, and

12:20

how other folks can receive him.

12:22

And what you ought to do is you ought to

12:24

look for the open doors.

12:28

That's the Holy Spirit to make you sensitive

12:31

so that when a door open,

12:33

you can walk in and ultimately

12:36

lead to telling somebody about

12:39

Jesus Christ.

12:39

Were you talking about open door?

12:41

Just say, for instance, somebody tell you, oh, I'm

12:43

having such a bad day, that's

12:46

an open door.

12:47

That's an open door.

12:48

And because you can hear what they are

12:50

saying, listen to that problem. But

12:52

before you leave, now, you ought to be able to tell him

12:54

God, I understand what you're going through. Can I tell

12:57

you about somebody who can help fix

12:59

your problem.

13:00

His name is Jesus.

13:02

Look, somebody is having problem

13:04

making ends meet and they don't know

13:06

how where the next meal is.

13:08

Gonna come from. That's just an open.

13:10

Door for you to tell somebody

13:13

about the fact that My God shall

13:16

supply all of your need.

13:18

Are called them to as rich as

13:20

in glory. Look

13:23

for those open doors and be ready

13:25

to be clear about the message

13:28

of who Jesus is.

13:31

Let me say this too, about this being clear about

13:33

the message and we must know it. But because

13:35

sometimes you're gonna run across even folks

13:38

who on the surface sound good. Ran

13:41

across such fellows this week we started

13:43

talking. He had been in a Christian church.

13:45

Now he was studying with all kinds

13:47

of folks, Muslims and everybody

13:49

else, and he was talking and

13:52

on the surface, you know, sometimes they talk real good.

13:54

I believe Jesus, Yes, I

13:57

believe Jesus this way because the Bible

13:59

said Jesus, it's away. Muslims

14:02

will tell you they believe in Jesus Muslims

14:06

would tell you they believe in Jesus.

14:09

But here's what you need to ask them. What do

14:11

you believe that Jesus and God,

14:15

that they are one and the

14:17

same, Because we believe trending

14:19

to God, to Father, God, to Son, God, the Holy

14:21

Spirit three. But yet they are one.

14:24

Now when folks start coming back talking about,

14:27

well, you know what, I believe God is

14:29

one and God it's God. No, no, no, that ain't what

14:31

I ask you, because what Peter says

14:33

here in verse thirty six, you need to

14:35

know that Jesus is both Lord

14:38

and Christ. Look, Jesus

14:40

just ain't a good prophet.

14:43

He's not just some messenger of God.

14:45

He's not on the same level as

14:48

and Elijah Muhammad or

14:50

as somebody else. No, no, he's in

14:52

a class all by himself because

14:54

here is God beside him.

14:56

There is no other. We need to tell folks.

14:58

Look, there ain't many ways he used to get to heaven,

15:01

y'all. Every way ain't going to heaven.

15:03

Jesus said, I am the Way, the

15:05

Truth, and the life.

15:07

No man coming to the Father.

15:09

But by me, it's

15:12

time that we are clear about

15:16

the message.

15:17

It was a clear sermon. It was clear but not

15:19

only was it clear.

15:20

Here's the reason why it was a good sermon. It

15:23

was challenging. It

15:25

was challenging. And this speaks about

15:27

the motivation of a sermon. What is the whole

15:29

purpose of a sermon. A sermon just ain't to make you look

15:32

good. A sermon ain't to

15:34

put the spotlight on you. Look,

15:36

the reason why we preach, and the reason

15:39

why we live it out is because

15:41

we are trying to make a change

15:43

in somebody else. What is

15:46

preaching preaching is the art of

15:48

communication with the purpose

15:51

of persuasion. I'm

15:54

not just up here for my own exercise. I

15:56

ain't just up there trying to sweat y'all. Look,

15:59

we are trying to bring about a

16:01

change in folks. Like to

16:04

persuade folks to get it right

16:06

with the Lord. And this is what like about Peter. He

16:09

was challenging because he cut right

16:11

to the chase. See, a lot of times folks are

16:14

free to call the speed of speed. We're

16:17

afraid to call sin sin.

16:19

And boy, we kind of.

16:20

Dance all around the itshe we

16:22

tiptoed because we don't want to offend

16:24

anybody, don't want to hurt nobody.

16:27

Feelings, don't want to step on nobody toes

16:31

thank you, I'm gonna do that. I'm gonna do that.

16:36

Because Peter, he cut right

16:38

to the chase. You know

16:40

what y'all did to Jesus. That's

16:43

why he said, verse twenty three, you crucified

16:46

him, took him and with wicked

16:48

hand, you crucified and slew

16:51

him. See what he says verse thirty

16:53

six, You crucified him. You

16:55

that this same Jesus whom

16:57

you have crucified.

17:00

And so he didn't. He didn't.

17:01

He didn't try to sugarcoat it. He wasn't trying to

17:03

give them some little sermon. It took over their ear.

17:06

Verse thirty eight. He said, what y'all need

17:08

to.

17:08

Do repair, repent,

17:11

get right.

17:11

With God, have a change of

17:14

mind, a change of heart. You need

17:16

to ask God to clean me up from

17:18

the inside out. Repair Even

17:22

verse four that he began to even continue

17:24

to teach them, saying, save yourself

17:27

from this crooked generation.

17:29

Look, we need to preach.

17:31

Some challenging messages.

17:33

Don't ever be afraid to

17:36

confront folks and to challenge

17:39

folks when they are wrong. Peter

17:43

cut it right to the case. Look, we got

17:45

to call sin sin if

17:48

somebody come to you and they are distraught

17:51

because they are messed up. I

17:53

want, I know you want to encourage them.

17:56

But you know that that godly

17:59

saw I or that they're feeling on the inside

18:01

is from the Holy Spirit. So we

18:03

need to let make sure that we allow the Spirit

18:06

to have his work. They need

18:08

to feel remorseful, because it

18:10

is that godly remorseful that ought

18:12

to lead to repentance and get

18:15

in better. Now do you need to point

18:17

out something here because verse thirty eight have

18:19

caused a lot of controversies within the Body

18:21

of Christ because folks don't

18:23

know the place of baptism, and some

18:26

folks have elevated baptism and

18:28

made baptism an essential

18:31

part to salvation. Let

18:33

me tell you, some brothers and sisters, Baptism

18:36

does not save you, and

18:38

you don't need to be baptized in order

18:41

to be saved. Isn't

18:44

that what Peter says in verse thirty eight. He says,

18:46

repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of

18:48

Jesus Christ. A couple of things about

18:50

that verse dare a number one. Repent is plural,

18:54

and so what Peter was saying to them in general

18:57

repent.

18:58

All of us.

18:58

Need to repent, all of us need to

19:00

accept Jesus Christ, but be baptized

19:03

is singular because what Peter

19:05

was saying, look, all of us need to repent,

19:08

but guess what in the visual lad

19:10

after you are repented, and I

19:13

say, then you need to follow through

19:15

in baptism in the visual But

19:17

baptism is not on the same level

19:20

as repentance. Another reason

19:22

why I believe that baptism is not on the same level

19:24

as repentance.

19:25

Because we are saved, y'all by faith

19:28

alone.

19:29

We're saved by faith alone,

19:32

and save and faith has

19:35

with it. Repentance is

19:37

two sides of the same coin. Repentance

19:39

is a turning away from saining. Faith is

19:42

turning to Jesus Christ. Repentance is

19:44

recognizing I'm a sinner and I need

19:46

the Lord. Faith is saying, I believe

19:48

in what Jesus did on the cross.

19:50

Now, from cover to cover in

19:53

the Bible, what you're gonna always find

19:55

if it's talking about salvation faith,

19:58

faith actually faith mixed

20:01

with repentan as matter of fact, even in the Book of acs

20:03

Alon, if you read chapter five, verse

20:05

thirty one, Chapter ten, verse forty

20:07

three, Chapter thirteen, verse thirty

20:09

eight, Chapter twenty six, verse eighteen.

20:12

All of those verses talk about salvation, but

20:14

none of those verses mentioned baptism.

20:18

Any cooks in the house.

20:20

Now, when you're doing a recipe, would you

20:22

leave out a main ingredient

20:25

on the recipe if it was

20:27

If it was important, guess what, every time

20:29

you give the recipe, you would do what you

20:32

would give all of.

20:34

The main ingredients.

20:36

It kind of reminds me a few

20:39

years back, few years back, to church put out a cookbook

20:41

and miss Mother Calamee pound

20:44

cake was in that cookbook. And so my wife got

20:46

up one Saturday and

20:48

Valerie cooked bake

20:51

Mother calames pound cake.

21:00

Something.

21:00

It didn't hit it, and

21:03

and so Valerie she

21:05

made it again. Bless

21:08

my wife's heart. That

21:11

day she made three cakes in one day

21:14

because she was trying to get it right.

21:16

Finally, she she called Mother Calum

21:18

may Mother.

21:19

Calib Maye, I'm just trying to get you this

21:22

pound cake.

21:23

Right, and it just won't get it right. Mother Calum

21:25

mays, oh baby, I left out a pound of butter.

21:27

I stick a butt out of that recipe.

21:32

She wasn't gonna ever get that.

21:33

Cake right because

21:35

a main ingreedy and what's missing.

21:39

So if the Bible, when you look at the Bible, if

21:41

you do it, if it's talking about faith

21:43

all the time, that tells us faith

21:45

is the main ingredient for salvation.

21:47

It was a challenging message. It was a challenging

21:50

message. It was a clear message.

21:52

Here's the third reason why this sermon was so effective.

21:55

It was a convincing message.

21:59

It was a convention send message.

22:01

Something about this message

22:03

that that really touched

22:05

folks heart.

22:06

And brought them to Jesus Christ.

22:09

Can I tell you what I believe helped make the message

22:11

convincing. I believe

22:14

the messenger help

22:16

made the message convincing.

22:20

I believe the.

22:21

Messenger help made the

22:23

message convincing. What this

22:25

says to each one of us we are

22:27

the messenger and.

22:29

So we must live it

22:31

out.

22:32

Because you say you cannot take Peter out

22:35

of the equation.

22:37

Peter is in the equation, Luke, Chapter

22:39

twenty two.

22:40

Jesus told Peter and Luke twenty two thirty

22:42

one, Peter, Satan has

22:44

desired to sift you as we but

22:47

I prayed for you, and when

22:49

you are converted, strengthen

22:52

the brothers. Peter, right after that said

22:54

Lord, I'm with you all the way I'm gonna

22:57

go.

22:57

I mean, I'll go to the grave with you.

23:00

Jesus told Peter before the rooster

23:02

crows, you would have denied

23:04

them three times. Peter was so,

23:07

oh, oh no, no, no, no, no, that's not me. And

23:09

so when they came to arrest Jesus in

23:11

the garden of get some of that, Peter was

23:13

right there. He even took a swore cut

23:16

off a man's ear.

23:18

Peter, Peter, Peter. But but they went.

23:20

On and arrested Jesus. And you know what happened.

23:22

After they arrested Jesus. The Bible said,

23:25

the disciples ran away, and

23:27

Peter found himself blending

23:29

in with the enemy, warm

23:32

in his hands by the enemy's

23:34

fine.

23:35

And as the trial was.

23:37

Going on, somebody looked at Peter

23:39

and said, want you with him?

23:41

Peter said, oh, no,

23:44

not me.

23:45

I don't know the fellow. I don't

23:47

know the fella. Somebody else said, man, man, surely

23:49

you were with him. To call you gotta leave. You

23:51

even talked like you're with him. Peter

23:53

said no, no, non, no, no, you got

23:55

me. Mistake them. A third time somebody said,

23:57

sure you was with him, and then he

24:00

been the good Baptist that he is. He whipped the cussing.

24:02

I don't know this man. Look, brothers

24:04

and and sister. The rooster crow Bible

24:09

said that Peter win and

24:12

will better let why.

24:14

Because he had let the Lord down.

24:16

This is that Saint Peter, Brothers and

24:18

sisters that and now we see Peter.

24:21

He is no longer scared, He

24:23

is no longer denying Jesus.

24:25

He is no longer trying to cut folks.

24:28

He is hot, But there's been a change

24:30

in Peter. He is standing bold,

24:33

he has curage, he is stemmed and feel

24:35

whip the Holy Spirit preaching this

24:38

message.

24:38

Can I tell you something?

24:39

If you want your life to be convincing,

24:42

if you want the sermon to be convincing,

24:44

we need to let it start within us,

24:47

and we need to say, God, I want you to work on me.

24:50

I want you to.

24:50

Work on me because I want to be real

24:53

in this thing. Look, brothers and sister,

24:56

is your life convincing? Are

24:58

you convincing as a believer? Or

25:00

are you a conniving individual?

25:04

Two face one way in front of folks,

25:06

but another way behind the folk.

25:08

Look, are you believable

25:12

or do you send baffling messages

25:15

because you send mixed signals when

25:17

you talk one something that live another

25:19

way. Are you persuasive in

25:22

your living or are you just a

25:24

pretender in your living?

25:26

Are you real or are your faith?

25:28

If you won't determine to be convincing,

25:31

you got to be convincing. I got

25:33

to be convincing. We got to be real

25:36

about this thing. And that's why

25:39

I stop about to tell you. We need to get it right. We

25:41

need to get it right, brothers and such, when it comes to the

25:43

message, get it right, get it right.

25:45

Concerning the message that Jesus Christ

25:47

came one day and he died on

25:49

an old rigged crass. He had to die.

25:52

He had to shed his blood because

25:54

without the shedding of blood there is no

25:56

remission of saying, no forgiveness.

25:58

Somebody had to die because

26:00

the record is the wages of sin is

26:03

death, but the gift of God is eternal

26:05

life. Look, all of us, we were born

26:07

in sin, shaped in iniquitee. It

26:10

should have been us hanging on the

26:12

crawl. It should have been us with our

26:14

nail in our hands. It should have been

26:16

us with crowns of throwings on our hands.

26:18

But Jesus died

26:21

in our stall. He was the

26:23

substitute. He took our place

26:25

on an old reggord crass. Get the message

26:28

right that he worked down

26:30

in the grave, but he just didn't stay

26:32

daddy, but ever sunning them

26:34

morning got up out of the grave with

26:36

all power in his hand. Get it right, y'all.

26:39

Don't leave off the resurrection, because the

26:41

resurrection proved he got power. What if

26:44

he got power over death, hell and

26:46

the grave. He got power over your

26:48

addiction. He got power over

26:50

your gambling addiction. He got power

26:52

over your drug addiction. He got power

26:54

over your alcoholism. He got power

26:57

over your whole mangarein.

26:58

He got power.

27:00

He can break habits, He can

27:02

make a change on the inside. Get

27:05

the message right that he was hung

27:07

up five hang.

27:08

Ups, but oh whip Jesus,

27:11

he can pick you up.

27:13

Turn you around, place

27:15

your feet on solid ground.

27:17

We need to get the message right. But then we need

27:19

to.

27:19

Get the motivation right, y'all. And that is

27:21

we're trying to change somebody.

27:24

We're trying to make a difference in somebody's

27:26

life. We're trying to let somebody know

27:29

you ain't got to stay in the same shape that you're

27:31

in because If you're dumb, he

27:34

can pick you up. If you're doady,

27:37

he can clean you up. If you're

27:39

outdoors, he can bring you in. There

27:42

is no secret what God

27:45

can do, what he have done for

27:47

others. If he a dude, the same for

27:49

you. You ought to be able to tell somebody

27:52

he can make a change in

27:55

your life. Get the message right,

27:58

get the motivation right. But

28:00

then we ought to make sure that even when it

28:02

comes to the messenger, God,

28:05

I want you to get me right, because

28:07

before I can stand before somebody

28:10

else, Lord, make me

28:12

right, Create hitting me a

28:15

clean hog, and renew

28:17

the right spirit, restore

28:19

unto me.

28:21

But jord of your salvation.

28:23

We ought to say, God, get me right,

28:26

because when I stand before folks, you

28:28

ought to want to preach a sermon that's visual,

28:31

because they ought to see in you Jesus

28:34

Christ only inside. They ought to

28:36

see it in the way you walk. They ought

28:38

to see it in the things you do. They

28:41

ought to see it in the life you live. It

28:43

ought to be visible, but

28:46

then it ought to be vocal. They

28:48

ought to hear it from your lips. Every

28:50

now and then, you ought to say something about Jesus.

28:53

You ought to not go the whole week.

28:55

Y'all, without letting Jesus come

28:57

out of your lips.

28:59

It ought to be for you

29:01

ought to tell.

29:01

It in the mountain,

29:05

tell that even in

29:07

the fire, that.

29:08

It ought to be vocal.

29:10

But then this sermon ought to be victorious

29:12

because you ought to be able to tell somebody, look

29:15

at me, He made a change

29:17

in my life. And that's all I stopped

29:19

about to tell you today they brothers and sister,

29:21

Your best sermon ain't gonna

29:24

happen on Sunday morning.

29:26

Your best sermon ain't.

29:28

Gonna happen when you got on your suit and

29:30

you.

29:30

Got a Bible under your arm.

29:32

Your best sermon it's not gonna be the song

29:35

that you're seeing in the chiet on Sunday

29:37

morning.

29:38

But your best.

29:39

Sermon it's gonna be Monday

29:41

morning when you're having to referee

29:44

between two co workers.

29:46

That they had ours with each other, and you

29:48

have to.

29:48

Let them know that Jesus is a prince of peace,

29:51

and you got to love one another, be

29:53

willing to forgive one another. Your

29:56

best sermon is gonna

29:58

come winsday him the class when

30:00

you're getn't study for the test. But

30:03

yet Saturday is sitting right next to you,

30:06

and the answers are all in clear view.

30:08

That's when the best sermon comes. When

30:11

you refuse to cheat on the test and

30:13

you do the right fame and say,

30:16

Spirit, I know I

30:18

didn't study, but give me some

30:20

answers right now.

30:22

Your best sermon ain't.

30:24

Gonna be on Sunday, but it's

30:26

gonna be doing the week when

30:28

you're sitting in that tax office getting

30:31

ready to prepare your taxes, and

30:33

you know good and well that

30:35

Qusha wasn't in.

30:36

Your house all year. Loan, your

30:39

best.

30:39

Sermon is gonna

30:41

come Friday.

30:42

Night when you have to

30:44

move this and the date done

30:46

gone one step too far. That's

30:49

when the best sermon comes out. When

30:51

you can put on the bricks and say

30:53

oh no, no, we

30:55

can't go there right now, that's

30:58

when the best sermon comes. And

31:00

so let me tell you what you ought to do if

31:02

you want to learn how to preach goodcern man. My

31:05

friend doctor John Wallace, he

31:07

told me he was gonna preach about the remote control.

31:10

Had a funeral on yesterday, and

31:12

after he got through talking.

31:13

About that remote control, I told him, man, I'm gonna use

31:15

that remote because what we ought to do

31:18

is tell the Lord. First of all,

31:20

God, I wanna take the remote control

31:23

out of my hand. You see, too

31:25

many of us are in control of our own life,

31:28

and some.

31:28

Of y'all are just like me with

31:30

the remote control.

31:32

Valerie, don't lack it when I have the remote control,

31:35

because I try to wash.

31:36

Two and three shoulders at the same

31:38

time.

31:39

I'm flipping over here and I'm flipping

31:41

over there, trying to catch this way

31:43

in the between. And some of us are living

31:46

like that. We are flip flopping

31:49

all over the place. But

31:51

we ought to say, Lord, I'm

31:54

giving you control. Lood,

31:58

take control and turn

32:00

me on.

32:01

I don't want to just be on on.

32:03

Sunday, but turn me on

32:06

Monday in.

32:07

The grocery store. Turn me

32:09

on. I want to be on

32:11

on the job. Do turn

32:14

me on. But then, God,

32:16

I want you to mute the world. I

32:18

want you to mute the world. I don't

32:20

want to listen.

32:21

To what Shanna is saying. I don't

32:23

want to govern my life by what meets you is

32:25

saying. But mute the world

32:28

because I.

32:29

Want to hear you. I

32:31

want to hear you speak,

32:33

Lord, speak loud.

32:37

Mute the world.

32:39

Turn me on.

32:40

But then tune me in because

32:43

I want to be on your channel. I

32:45

want to be on the right channel. Because

32:48

BT ain't the right channel. MPD

32:51

ain't the right channel. Tell

32:53

me, I mean it ain't the right channel. But

32:55

g O D is the right channel. We

32:58

ought to say, God, I

33:00

want to get tuned into you.

33:02

Turn me in, tun

33:05

me in.

33:07

But then, last God, I

33:09

want you to hit the volume button because

33:11

I.

33:11

Want you to turn me up.

33:14

Turn me up.

33:16

I wanna be loud, turn

33:19

me up. I don't wanna

33:21

be quiet. I don't wanna

33:23

be silent. Got been too

33:25

good, roll and culsa,

33:29

got be too well.

33:31

Turn me up, he turn

33:33

me up. I want to holler

33:36

for you. Shay yay,

33:41

yeah, God.

33:46

Yeah, take

33:57

control, take

34:00

control, turn

34:03

me on, mute

34:06

out the world,

34:08

tune me.

34:09

In and

34:11

then turn me up. Because

34:14

I want to be a sermon. I

34:17

want to preach. I

34:19

want to teach. I

34:22

want to live it. I

34:24

want folks.

34:26

To see Christ inside

34:29

of us. That ought to

34:31

be our prayer. Help me,

34:33

God, preach

34:36

my best sermon.

34:38

Help me.

34:39

That concludes today's broadcast.
