In today's episode of Psych Talk I chat with Kristine Santiago, a wellness coach, personal trainer, and clinical mental health graduate student. We discuss the very important topic of domestic violence. Kristine starts the episode by discussing why she is so passionate about domestic violence and her personal experience of losing her friend to domestic violence. Kristine defines what domestic violence is and what is may look like in various situations. We discussed various ways domestic violence may impact or traumatize the victim, as well as the many reasons individuals may not leave a domestic violence situation. Given her lived experience, Kristine discusses how people can support a loved one who is in a domestic violence situation and offers words of encouragement and advice to both individuals who are the victims of domestic violence and their loved ones trying to help them.
