Let's get into Star Wars!

0:02

Let's get into Star Wars

0:04

in here! Let's get into

0:06

Star Wars! Let's get into

0:09

Star Wars in here!

0:14

A small rebel force has penetrated

0:16

the shield and landed on Endor.

0:19

This is where the fun begins. A

0:22

long time ago, in a galaxy

0:24

far, far away. This

0:27

is Rebel Force Radio. Your source

0:29

for the force. Star Wars, news

0:32

and commentary. With Jason Swank and

0:34

Jimmy Mack. I've seen Star Wars

0:36

500 times. Star Wars number one! This

0:38

station is now the ultimate power in

0:40

the universe. I suggest that we use it.

0:43

Now it's time for Rebel Force Radio.

0:45

We would be honored if you would

0:48

join us. All

0:50

right, we're going to go old

0:52

school tonight. This

0:58

week on Rebel Force Radio, taking

1:00

a trip back in time in the way back

1:02

machine. And

1:04

we're going to look at the first ever publicity

1:06

tour for Star Wars back in 1977. I

1:12

think it's very important. I don't want to sound

1:14

like the old guy, but I think it's very

1:16

important for fans. I'm

1:19

not talking a lot to the younger fans here, but

1:22

to not lose track in sight

1:25

of the history of this

1:27

franchise, of this saga that we love so much. Because

1:30

I think it's ragtag

1:32

and humble beginnings. And

1:35

that's what it was. Make no mistake. It

1:39

was considered relatively low budget. It was a miracle that

1:41

it got made. But

1:43

I think that it's ragtag

1:45

humble beginnings really did inform

1:47

it and helped

1:50

to create what we have and

1:52

what we love so much today. So as much

1:55

as we get excited about the latest and the greatest

1:57

and the newest stuff, it's always good to go back

1:59

and reflect. yourself. It's why I make a

2:01

point, no matter how busy I get, I make

2:03

a point to watch the original

2:06

films at least at

2:08

least once a year from beginning to end. I have

2:10

to. I have to do it and

2:13

because it just it keeps you, at least it does

2:15

for me, keeps me very grounded and

2:17

that's the center of my Star Wars universe. It

2:20

may vary for other people but regardless it's the

2:22

history, it's the foundation, we're gonna be taking a

2:25

deep dive into that. It's gonna be a lot

2:27

of fun too. Plus also an update on Jake

2:29

Lloyd. Now Jake is an actor that we haven't

2:31

heard much from lately

2:34

and by lately I mean what

2:36

the last decade or more and

2:39

his mother is sort of breaking her silence

2:41

and giving us an update on his condition.

2:43

He's had a lot of problems with mental

2:45

health. Of course we wish him all the

2:47

best but we'll bring you that update. Plus

2:49

Star Wars and pop culture and

2:51

a lot more here on Rebel Force Radio. Thank you

2:53

so much for being with us this week. We love

2:55

having you. We are your source for the Force and

2:57

in case you're new to

2:59

the program because we've got new people joining

3:02

listening to RFR because of our after shows.

3:04

Our after shows for the Bad Batch are

3:06

going on right now every week looking at

3:09

every episode of the Bad Batch season 3

3:11

and if you're not watching dive

3:14

in, dive in. We're a little

3:16

more than halfway through this season

3:18

and there's some really great great

3:20

stories being told. There's some great

3:22

character development happening. So

3:25

dive in, the water is warm, Bad Batch

3:27

after show. So if you're just joining us

3:29

on the weekly podcast for the first time,

3:32

Introductions in Order. My name is Jason and

3:34

with me as always my good friend and

3:36

yours from Chicago Jimmy Mack. Hey Jason, hey

3:39

Star Wars fans. I like what you're seeing

3:41

Jake. It's always a good idea to go

3:43

back to that original trilogy and

3:46

give it a rewatch every year. Just

3:49

to reinforce yourself

3:52

with what is

3:54

the core of all Star Wars

3:56

storytelling. And yeah like Jason

3:58

said we're gonna be going back. back to 1977

4:00

in this show and we're gonna

4:03

be providing you

4:05

with a listening experience that I

4:07

think very few have had since

4:09

1977. So it's gonna be pretty

4:13

cool. You got to hear all about this incredible

4:16

discovery, audio discovery that was

4:18

made and we'll be debuting

4:20

some wild material for you

4:22

this week. Plus we

4:24

have an update from DB Weiss

4:27

about the Star Wars project that

4:29

never was that he and David

4:32

Benioff, the Game of Thrones guys

4:34

were working on. He talked about

4:37

that this week. We'll

4:39

be hearing from Ewan McGregor and

4:42

his wife Harrison Dula. I mean

4:44

Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Star

4:47

Wars and pop culture. It's been piling up

4:49

you know and you

4:52

guys give us all these great tips

4:54

and suggestions for entries

4:56

into Star Wars and pop culture. I think

4:58

we are the canon when

5:00

it comes to

5:03

Star Wars and pop culture. Once it

5:05

gets celebrated here on

5:07

RFR it joins the

5:11

actual canon of Star Wars

5:13

and pop culture. It all started here and

5:16

we got some interesting clips to play

5:18

you this week. You never know where

5:20

Star Wars is gonna show up. Hey

5:23

you know um before we get too deep into the

5:25

show and before I forget I got

5:27

a package here from RFR

5:29

VIP. Got a package. I

5:31

got it right here from

5:33

Jeremy Lanning. RFR VIP

5:35

Jeremy Lanning and he sent us a box

5:38

of treats Swank. Oh

5:40

yeah and I'll be able to give this

5:42

to you when we hook up

5:44

in yeah I think so when we

5:46

hook up in Bristol

5:48

for May the 4th be with you

5:51

but he sent us some really

5:53

cool challenge coins. Oh

5:57

yeah love those. I love challenge

5:59

coins. As a matter of

6:01

fact, I just bought, I don't have it yet, but

6:03

I just bought a display. Yeah,

6:06

oh great, it's gonna be great. I just bought a

6:08

display for challenge coins because I've been

6:10

given so many of them over

6:12

the years and I don't have anything to actually

6:15

display them on. So I just, I went on

6:17

Amazon and they actually make some really nice displays

6:19

for your challenge coins. So that'll be

6:22

great. Those are nice challenge coins

6:24

and some pens

6:27

and all

6:30

kind of cool stuff. But here's something, oh

6:33

he went to the Holocron store. I

6:35

guess it's a Star Wars store. Nothing

6:38

but Star Wars. And I think

6:40

it's in Texas. And Jeremy

6:42

went there and he got us some stickers from

6:44

the place there. Heavily wrapped, I

6:46

can't really access them now. But look at this

6:49

blast of the past he sent. It's

6:53

an audio adventure from this, I

6:55

think the 80s, called Droid Wars.

6:58

Complete with book and cassette

7:00

tape. You know? I

7:03

mean amazing. And

7:05

yeah, I do have a place to actually listen

7:07

to this. So that's gonna, this will be

7:10

involved. I had quite a few of those. That

7:12

one I remember seeing at

7:14

the store back in the day, but I never

7:16

got that one. I got one, I feel

7:20

like it was called Ewoks. Ewoks

7:23

Aveday or something like that. Yeah, yeah,

7:26

yeah, yeah. That one I had. And

7:28

of course I had all of the

7:31

film adaptations, including the

7:34

ones that I really treasured were the double LPs.

7:37

Because they actually used real audio from the

7:40

films. Whereas the little 45s

7:43

was that one dude. You know, and he would

7:45

try to do all the voices. You

7:48

know, you'll know it is time to turn the page when

7:50

you hear O2D2 beep like this. You

7:54

know, before he really took

7:57

off and had a... Legendary

8:00

voiceover career that still continues to

8:03

this day Corey

8:05

Burton from the Clone Wars the

8:07

voice of cad Bane and zero

8:09

the hut He appeared

8:11

on one of those early

8:14

Star Wars audio adventures as

8:16

Luke Skywalker Yes,

8:18

oh no kidding like yeah, you know

8:20

like the Empire Strikes Back Read-along

8:24

book or something. Oh, yeah, he

8:26

he supplied the voice of Luke

8:28

so his Star Wars career

8:30

Goes back a lot further than the debut

8:32

of the Clone Wars in 2008 So

8:35

you never know what you might Burton also

8:38

supplied the voice of hmm James

8:40

Bond jr. The title

8:43

character That's

8:45

crazy That's absolutely crazy.

8:47

Well. I just want to say thank

8:49

you to Jeremy Lanning for sending us

8:51

the Really nice gift

8:53

package Jeremy is

8:55

an RFR VIP at

8:58

9:07

you can actually hear Jeremy on that

9:09

show and Full

9:11

show video so much more.

9:13

That's patreon.com slash

9:16

rebel force radio Inject more

9:18

RFR into your life into your

9:20

week into your month I mean

9:23

we don't we don't the content on

9:25

you over there at patreon so

9:28

I think a lot of patreon

9:31

users They they

9:34

they claim they're gonna give you a lot of stuff

9:37

But you know it pales

9:39

in comparison to what RFR gives

9:41

you and only a buck gets

9:43

you in the door So that's

9:45

patreon.com/rebel force radio Alright,

9:48

well, let's do it. Let's check out

9:50

our listener feedback. See what we got going

9:52

on There's always people asking

9:55

follow-up questions about the bad batch and other

9:57

things so let's see what's on your mind

9:59

this We

10:03

have the entire message. We

10:06

have to allow you

10:08

to make contact with us. Send

10:10

a reply. Chuck,

10:19

Chuck, Jason, and Jimmy. This is

10:21

Alan Alabama. I wanted to weigh

10:23

in on the discussion about the acolyte and how the

10:25

rule of two fits in. I'm

10:27

in the middle of the last book of the Dark

10:29

Bane books and I know they're not canon but they

10:31

do give some insight. Bane's rule

10:34

of two was to have one embodying the power and

10:36

the other to crave it. The apprentice

10:38

eventually killing the master and taking on an

10:40

apprentice of their own. In

10:42

the meantime, they would remain hidden and

10:44

work behind the scenes building what would

10:47

represent kind of an underground criminal run

10:49

fire, building up finances and power until

10:52

one day the Sith would be in a position to take over

10:54

the galaxy which we know

10:56

finally happens with Palpatine. But

10:58

Bane and the Sith guarded their existence at

11:01

all costs, you know, to the point

11:03

where if anyone did kind of figure out what was going on they

11:05

were killed. I mean, my

11:07

favorite was so well-captain that Keanu Moondi expressed

11:10

what everyone believed. The Sith had been

11:12

extinct for a thousand years. That's exactly what

11:14

Bane wanted them to think. So

11:17

it wouldn't make sense for the Sith to reveal themselves or to

11:19

be revealed at the time of the

11:21

acolyte. And so what might be happening is

11:23

that May simply is someone who becomes

11:27

a dark Jedi. Maybe she comes across some

11:29

teachings of the ancient Sith and she becomes

11:31

an acolyte to

11:33

those teachings and meanwhile the

11:35

real Sith are still behind the scenes.

11:37

But an additional comment About something that I can't figure out

11:40

about this is that at Qui-Gon's funeral, Yoda says that only two there are. No

11:42

more and no less a master and an apprentice. So How in the world does

11:44

Yoda know about the rule of two? Because What Bane did was kept a secret

11:46

and it's a secret. I

12:00

remember practice before been implemented

12:02

it but the whole point

12:04

was somewhat the world thinks

12:06

that the surf or extent.

12:09

So. How does Yoda know about

12:11

the rules? To. Unless

12:13

he somehow figured it out at the

12:16

time of the outward. Looking forward to

12:18

that of other shows. Appreciate you guys

12:20

have a great day. You.

12:23

Know I was losing deck to last week's

12:26

show and we were talking to Ft to

12:28

Santa about his thoughts on the Accolade trailer

12:30

and he just he said look, I don't

12:32

have any inside information years just my speculation

12:35

but I see that we might see some

12:37

before. that's a season wraps. We're

12:39

going to see some similar names or

12:41

some similar your faces, some familiar characters

12:43

and the one that popped into my

12:45

mind as as drive around listening is

12:47

is Yada Yada has been India in

12:49

the High Republic era. I

12:52

think she was in one of the debut comics

12:54

or maybe was the novel. I don't know, but

12:56

Yoda has made an appearance. So Yoda has been

12:59

around for a really, really long time. And.

13:02

So. I think it's great that

13:04

if any of the jet I are going

13:06

to have this tidbit of information about the

13:08

says make sense that it's Yoda, So that's

13:10

that's. fine. I'm. And

13:13

wouldn't that be something if we

13:15

actually see. Yoda. Learn

13:18

this trick. By.

13:20

The end of the Acolyte. Season.

13:23

One. And. Then

13:25

we see that pay off. In and

13:27

in the Phantom Menace cigar collars Al

13:29

Al from Alabama. I

13:32

think it's a great series. I think it's

13:34

a it's a really good theory. I would

13:36

just say to that. Again,

13:40

it it. It's just whether

13:42

or not. It. Was established

13:45

in oldie. you are non canon.

13:47

It. It. May or may

13:49

not. Come. Into play and

13:52

all was the Star Wars that were

13:54

getting these days, especially when it's all

13:56

the You Legends material. So. i

13:59

would love it if they would work

14:01

around it just like Al was

14:03

suggesting but they don't have to

14:05

you know something that they have to

14:07

do. It would be interesting

14:09

if they did present a situation

14:11

where Yoda becomes aware of

14:14

some Sith tradition and things

14:16

like that via

14:19

his exposure to whoever is

14:21

waving the Sith flag in

14:23

the acolyte. I mean just

14:26

because someone says their Sith doesn't

14:29

necessarily mean they are. They

14:31

could have stumbled upon a treasure

14:34

trove of information about the Sith

14:36

and started to study it

14:38

and actually fall under the influence

14:40

of what they were studying. But

14:44

I do think it's really interesting

14:46

what Alan Alabama says about the

14:49

fact that earlier in the Phantom

14:51

Menace when there's speculation about the

14:54

return of the Sith, Kiari Mundi

14:56

does say the Sith has been

14:58

extinct for a millennium. And then

15:02

by the end of the Phantom

15:04

Menace Yoda has this information always

15:06

to there are. If

15:09

the Sith have been extinct forever I mean

15:12

how does Yoda have this

15:14

information about their

15:16

tradition of the rule of

15:19

two? How would Yoda know

15:21

this? Because

15:23

isn't that... I mean

15:25

the Sith were like a public

15:29

entity prior to

15:31

this thing in

15:33

the old expanded universe, the

15:36

Jedi-Sith war. And

15:38

at that time the Sith had

15:40

created this you

15:42

know WMD that just wiped

15:45

out everyone on the

15:48

battlefield. Sith and Jedi

15:50

alike it was called a thought bomb.

15:53

And after those

15:55

events Darth

15:58

Bane was the sole survivor. of

16:01

the Sith and he took on an apprentice

16:04

named Janna

16:08

and if I'm remembering

16:10

that correctly I always confuse Janna

16:12

with Zanna from The Rise of

16:14

Skywalker. Tammy's Star Wars

16:16

names. I'll never forgive you

16:19

for Kylo Ren and Kibo

16:21

Ren. Come on.

16:24

So Janna was

16:26

the apprentice to Darth Bane and

16:29

they went underground and that's

16:31

when the Rule of Two was

16:33

established and that

16:35

was a thousand years prior to the

16:37

events of the Phantom Menace. So

16:40

when Kiyori Mundi says the Sith

16:43

have been extinct for over a

16:45

millennium it's meant to

16:47

be taken literal a thousand years.

16:50

So where would Yoda get this

16:52

information about the Rule of Two?

16:55

That is kind of an interesting

16:58

moment in the

17:01

Phantom Menace that I don't think many of

17:03

us reacted to because we just felt like

17:06

well Yoda, the Sith have been around for as

17:08

long as the Jedi and Yoda

17:10

is familiar with their traditions

17:13

and their stealthiness and all

17:15

of that but it

17:17

was something that came into play as

17:20

the result of Darth Bane being

17:23

the sole survivor of the Sith Order and

17:25

taking on an apprentice. And

17:27

were those stories were those stories

17:30

published after the prequels? Or

17:33

around the same time? They're based

17:35

on actual notes from George Lucas that

17:38

he created while developing the Phantom

17:41

Menace and some of this ended

17:43

up on a page or two

17:45

in the Phantom

17:47

Menace novelization when

17:50

Darth Bane and the Rule of

17:52

Two get introduced. Darth Bane is

17:55

a George Lucas character. It's

17:57

not an expanded universe. Sounds very

17:59

very lupine. occasion I'm

18:02

just trying to think how would I how would I? retcon

18:06

this even just within the framework of

18:08

the Phantom Menace Which Jim

18:10

as you lay out if you're gonna retcon

18:12

it it's not about retconning necessarily Novels

18:15

and and films it there's there's a

18:17

there's something that needs to be answered

18:19

right within the Phantom Menace itself How

18:23

do you bridge the gap between

18:25

kiyadi Mundi's declaration and and Yoda's?

18:28

Intel One

18:31

way you might be able to do it is I always

18:35

feel that Yoda

18:37

is a character that could be

18:39

holding back. He's sort of gonna

18:43

wait and see how things unfold

18:45

before he makes a statement and Or

18:49

fold on as he would say

18:53

Yes He wouldn't say

18:55

unfold he'd say fold on right maybe hold

18:57

on But

19:02

I don't want to say that Yoda was like He

19:06

was like a conspiracy theorist or anything like that,

19:08

but I think Yoda because he'd

19:10

lived he's so long-lived That

19:13

I think that makes him open

19:15

to a lot more possibilities Than

19:18

say a kiyadi Mundi who was so

19:20

sure so perhaps It

19:23

was this sighting

19:26

in that Qui-Gon had of

19:28

Darth Maul on this in this fight

19:31

that got Yoda thinking

19:33

and Got Yoda doing a

19:35

little investigation and maybe looking

19:37

at old Holocrons

19:43

Who knows but somewhere he sort of

19:45

put put it together Wait

19:47

a minute. They aren't they aren't

19:49

extinct and I think I know how they've

19:51

been able to go under

19:55

Under the radar for so long. What

19:57

if right there's always been

19:59

two So, yeah,

20:02

so I think that Yoda still fits the

20:04

bill as the one on the council that

20:06

could have figured that out. Okay, you know

20:09

what, I like that. And there could have

20:11

been evidence over that

20:13

thousand year period where the

20:15

Sith either prematurely

20:18

made themselves known

20:20

publicly, that could have happened, or

20:23

there have been just like sightings,

20:25

you know? Right,

20:27

like Bigfoot. And it would always be

20:29

a master and an apprentice. All the

20:31

reports came back, master and

20:34

apprentice. And

20:36

the Jedi council would either, you know,

20:38

say, oh no, those findings

20:41

aren't legitimate. Those guys couldn't

20:43

have possibly been Sith for

20:45

whatever reason, you know? It just didn't

20:47

add up to them. But

20:50

then Yoda goes back and he looks

20:52

at the history of these,

20:54

you know, people thinking they've

20:56

encountered Sith and stuff, or Jedi

20:58

reports of running into Sith. And

21:00

he always see there's always two

21:03

of them. And then

21:05

maybe he was able to concoct a

21:07

conclusion that they must always be working

21:09

in pairs. And that's

21:11

what's been keeping the Sith line going

21:14

through all the years. By

21:16

the way, on all those mystery shows,

21:18

Jim, they always go into a room,

21:21

they've got newspaper clippings and tacks, and

21:23

they got string connecting everything. I think

21:25

that's what Yoda has, it is tailored.

21:29

It just opens up like this door and all of

21:31

a sudden he's been trying to crack the code. And

21:35

he finally did it. Eureka. Yeah,

21:38

he's got the map, he's got newspaper

21:40

clippings. That's

21:45

really a funny image to think of. But I

21:47

mean, you know, there are many ways, you know,

21:49

the storytelling can work

21:51

around this. I Mean,

21:53

they're jumping the conclusions, thinking that

21:56

the Acolyte is going to completely

21:58

reset canon, reset things, George. Lucas

22:00

established in the prequels and

22:02

and along those lines words

22:04

I will be the first.

22:06

Call it out if that's

22:08

what happens, but embrace the

22:10

see how the acolyte is

22:12

gonna tackle this sort of

22:14

material and and try to

22:16

shape it into a story

22:18

that makes sense with what's

22:20

already been established. Rights and

22:22

I would just add. One more

22:25

thing is that we even see

22:27

in our own world where two

22:29

people with very different ideologies can

22:31

see a similar new story and

22:33

they walk away with two truths.

22:35

One is it has. Holds.

22:37

Onto one truth and one on the other.

22:39

And we do know that they're fishers in

22:41

their splits in the ideology, just on the

22:44

Jedi Council alone of know if that that

22:46

this the. There's. A presence of the

22:48

Sith Or the threat of the Sith. Could

22:50

be one of those fish your points where there's

22:52

some on it's as in the under council. Did

22:55

believe that it's impossible. They'll never come back and

22:57

then maybe some like Yoda. This thing, you know

22:59

what? I wouldn't be surprised if they're out there

23:01

does biding their time. Yeah.

23:04

Yeah we're will have see out all

23:06

plays on the show. I would love

23:08

to see Yoda show up in this

23:10

thing and also it was Doors Zana.

23:14

That. You were right, it was

23:16

a Why was I Santa looks

23:19

as the st Yes Yana was

23:21

the character in The Rise of

23:23

Skywalker. So Zana, Jan Jan is

23:26

Anna? Tell census. Banana.

23:28

Fan of Fofana, Man, I'm sorry,

23:30

but the delicious, ice cold taste

23:32

of Dr. Pepper has a lasting

23:34

effect on people. Flimsy from Sacramento

23:36

Said protip: Forty degrees. Is the perfect

23:38

temperature for an icicle. Dr. Pepper. Why is

23:40

forty degrees of perfect temperature for Dr. Pepper?

23:43

We brought in Sioux from Duluth, Minnesota to

23:45

Dallas? Yeah! I know a thing or two about

23:47

colds or Sat right there is a perfect Had

23:49

a high school for Dr. Pepper. I'd.

23:52

Share that with a friend Nancy She likes

23:54

Dr. Pepper to, you know, Michael. or i

23:56

totally also having a perfect temperature for your

23:58

doctor pepper it's a habit thing inspired

24:00

by real fan posts. Let's get into

24:02

the news. Good

24:08

news here, my lord. That's good

24:10

news. Come closer. I have good news.

24:14

Well, you heard us mention it at the top of the

24:16

show. Some

24:19

rare. And,

24:21

I guess,

24:25

it hasn't been heard in

24:27

a long, long time. I heard

24:30

the audio of the very first publicity

24:32

tour of Star Wars before

24:35

it was even called A New Hope back in 1977. Right.

24:39

And this is a special find from

24:41

Jimmy Mack. So, Jim, what do

24:43

you got? All right. Well, first I want

24:45

to play a clip of Mark Hamill. And

24:48

Mark Hamill is talking to a really

24:51

well-known entertainment reporter both here

24:53

in Chicago and in Hollywood,

24:56

WGN Radio's Dean Richards. And this is

24:59

from last May. Mark

25:03

is out promoting his action comedy

25:05

movie called The Machine. And

25:09

the funny thing is, back

25:12

in 1977, Mark

25:14

appeared at the WGN studios

25:16

in Chicago with Carrie and

25:18

Harrison Ford as part of their

25:21

very first ever promotional tour for

25:23

the original Star Wars movie. Dean

25:26

brings this up to Mark. He even has

25:28

a photo of them in the studio. And

25:32

Mark actually was able to

25:34

recall that visit, and they

25:38

were originally interviewed by WGN

25:40

entertainment reporter Roy Leonard. And

25:44

here's the clip of Mark

25:46

looking back in 1977 and

25:48

talking about that first publicity tour.

25:52

Can you guys see me? Are you able to see

25:54

the – because I want to try to show you

25:56

something, Mark. Yeah. Oh!

26:00

This is a photo, it's

26:03

you, Mark, you Harrison and Kerry, along

26:06

with our former entertainment reporter, Roy Leonard.

26:08

I know you've taken a million pictures

26:11

since then in 1977. Do

26:13

you have any recollection whatsoever of that

26:16

first publicity tour? Oh sure, because we

26:18

went out on that tour before the

26:20

movie opened. And I think we went

26:22

to Vancouver first, and then while

26:24

we were on the road, it opened. And

26:27

we landed in Chicago, and I

26:29

said to Harrison and Kerry, I

26:32

said, look, there's all these people at

26:35

the airport, there must be somebody famous

26:37

on the plane. We were looking around

26:39

for like an athlete or a movie

26:41

star. And then I saw, Gary, look,

26:43

that girl, she's got the buttons on

26:45

her, and Harrison, there's somebody in the

26:47

vest. There were people dressed like us.

26:50

So that was the first time we thought,

26:53

this is beyond what we

26:55

expected. We wanted it to be popular,

26:57

obviously, but for people to go, and

26:59

they had homemade lightsabers so they hadn't

27:02

made any merchandise yet, I thought, this

27:04

is beyond anything we could

27:06

have expected. It was the last time

27:08

we all went out together, by the

27:10

way, the three of us, by the

27:12

time Empire came out, they sent us

27:15

all separately. So I sort of missed

27:17

that. And we are very proud to

27:19

say that we still have that exact

27:21

same patio furniture in the

27:23

back. Oh right, very good. WGN, so if you

27:25

ever come to visit us again, you can sit

27:27

in the e-mail. WGN was

27:30

a staple of when I was living

27:32

in New York doing theater. So it's

27:34

a great station. All

27:37

right, so boy, Mark's memory, man, oh

27:39

man, he's got one of

27:41

those instant

27:44

recall where he remembers where he

27:46

was, what he was doing, what

27:48

people were wearing, and all of

27:50

that. Crazy, crazy. So

27:52

this goes back to

27:55

May of last year. So

27:58

people were like, well, why are you playing a clip? of Mark

28:00

Hamill talking about the promotional tour from

28:03

May from last year. Well, the reason

28:05

I wanted to play that is because

28:07

he talks about visiting WGN

28:09

radio and being interviewed by Roy

28:11

Leonard, who was the entertainment reporter

28:13

there for many, many years. And

28:16

the reason I'm bringing it

28:18

up is because a good

28:21

friend of mine named Ernie

28:23

Scatton is the production director

28:25

at WGN radio and

28:28

Ernie was cleaning out a cabinet

28:31

that he'd been putting off either filled

28:33

with all sort of crap in it

28:35

and, and, and, and everything. And

28:37

Ernie had finally decided to clean

28:40

out that cabinet and he pulls

28:42

out a reel of tape that

28:45

says the handwritten on it,

28:47

6-16-77 Roy Leonard stars of

28:49

Star Wars. We

28:54

have this reel of tape. And

28:56

so Ernie knows right away

28:59

to call me and say,

29:01

Hey, I, I found this thing. I don't

29:03

think it's been listened to forever. Let's

29:06

digitize it, which we did. And

29:10

what we found was 30

29:13

minutes of Mark, Carrie,

29:16

and Harrison in the WGN

29:18

studios promoting Star

29:20

Wars, talking to listeners,

29:22

taking listeners calls. Oh my

29:24

gosh. Taking calls. It's

29:27

amazing. It's amazing piece of

29:29

audio. So

29:32

naturally I want to share it with

29:34

everyone here on Rebel Force Radio. So,

29:36

so obviously Jim, since there are callers

29:38

in the, in the, in the audio,

29:40

this, this was aired, this was something

29:42

that was aired at one time, but

29:45

probably only once and that was it,

29:47

I would guess. Yeah. Yeah.

29:49

Well, yeah. I don't

29:51

think yours have been on this in a

29:53

long, long time. And

29:55

of course it was analog tape

29:58

that you could only listen back to. a

30:00

reel-to-reel machine and

30:03

we so we had to go you

30:05

know painstakingly go in

30:07

and digitize it the tape

30:10

played beautifully I was so happy because some

30:12

of those old tapes Wow they could be

30:14

really can be sticky and and they drag

30:16

on the tape heads

30:19

and everything and also I mean just finding

30:21

a reel-to-reel machine could be a real pain

30:23

in the butt I happen to have

30:25

one right here on my right in

30:28

this room like put them in a like

30:30

in an actual oven sometimes to like warm

30:32

them up if they're sticky or I

30:34

have a beef jerky machine

30:38

that I would put reels in because

30:40

you you only heat them up at

30:42

about 200 degrees and the

30:44

beef jerky machine was perfect because it

30:46

was round and you

30:48

could put the reel right in there

30:51

and just leave it in there for

30:53

a few hours and it would never

30:55

get so hot it melted the tape

30:57

but what happened was over time the

31:00

chemical ingredients of the

31:02

reel-to-reel tape would sort of break

31:04

down especially if they were placed

31:06

in a room that wasn't

31:08

climate control and the tape would all

31:10

just stick together and when it would

31:12

go across the tape heads it would

31:14

drag and it would just be a

31:16

real pain in the butt so you

31:18

put it in these little these

31:21

little ovens and it would heat

31:23

it up enough to soften the tape it

31:25

would unstick and you could get at least

31:27

one good play out of it and when

31:30

that's happening you better be recording and

31:33

so I actually learned about

31:35

the beef jerky machine from

31:37

Skywalker sounds Matt Wood and

31:40

yeah well he's the one who taught me about

31:42

that and I've done a lot of audio

31:45

archiving over the last 30 years

31:47

and occasionally I come across

31:49

a reel that is really hard to play

31:51

so we soften up the tape we put

31:53

it in the beef jerky machine I one

31:56

of these days I should make beef jerky in

31:58

that machine it probably terrible because

32:01

of all the tapes I've melted in there. If

32:04

your tapes smell like

32:07

beef jerky. Exactly, exactly.

32:10

That could be. But we have the

32:12

audio. I pulled a bunch

32:14

of highlights from it. I think I'll probably put the

32:16

entire thing on our Patreon

32:18

page for all access supporters

32:20

because this is a piece

32:22

of Hollywood history. This is

32:24

audio gold. These

32:26

were recorded not even a month

32:28

after the release of

32:31

Star Wars. And by

32:33

this time it had grown into the

32:36

phenomenal hit that we all know it

32:38

to be. But the legend

32:41

was just being born at this

32:43

time, along with the careers of

32:45

Mark, Harrison, and Carrie. So

32:48

you're gonna hear them probably,

32:50

you know, speaking a little more

32:52

candidly or a little more down-to-earth

32:54

than you're used to because they

32:56

haven't really established themselves as Hollywood

32:58

stars yet. And they haven't had

33:00

all that PR training that they would, I'm sure,

33:03

later have in years. Well,

33:06

I mean, you're gonna hear a Harrison Ford

33:08

who is very lucid when it

33:10

comes to recalling facts about Star

33:12

Wars. If you ask Harrison

33:14

Ford anything about

33:16

Star Wars, they'll just give you

33:19

a simple two-word answer. Who cares?

33:22

But back in the day, he

33:24

was the elder spokesman of the

33:26

trio. And

33:30

Mark is Mark. I

33:32

think what you're gonna hear in these

33:34

tapes is Mark is a pretty consistent

33:36

personality compared to back in the

33:38

70s when he was in his 20s. Now

33:40

Carrie, on the other hand, a

33:43

little more soft-spoken than you might

33:45

be used to from our potty

33:47

mouth princess. You

33:51

know, FJ DeSanto is the potty mouth prophet.

33:53

Well, Carrie Fisher is definitely the potty mouth

33:55

princess. And she was always

33:57

very boisterous and stuff as her career...

34:00

moved on and she got older but back then I

34:02

mean she's soft-spoken but you'll

34:04

hear examples of her sharp wit

34:07

coming to the surface here and

34:09

there. So I have

34:11

a bunch of highlights here let's just

34:13

start at the beginning. This is Roy

34:15

Leonard introducing the Stars of Star Wars

34:17

to the Chicago radio audience on

34:20

June 16th, 1977. Listen

34:23

I want to welcome in the three

34:26

stars of Star Wars. First of

34:28

all, ladies first, Carrie Fisher who was one

34:30

of the most beautiful princesses ever to fly

34:32

through the sky. By the way is it Leia?

34:36

It depends on what system you're from

34:38

but I prefer to myself as Leia.

34:40

Okay and I've got to ask you

34:42

to either move in a little closer you can pull that

34:45

microphone a little closer to you Carrie and

34:47

friends Luke Skywalker, hero supreme

34:49

in the person of course of

34:51

Mark Hamill. Mark welcome to the Roy Leonard show. Thank you.

34:54

I like your t-shirt tell everybody what it

34:56

says. It says I love you Chicago. Boy

34:58

I tell you Chicago loves you too and

35:00

boy if there was ever a space

35:03

pilot if there was ever a mercenary who

35:05

deserves the title of same the captain of

35:07

the Millennium Falcon Han Solo and boy is

35:09

this coming home for Harrison Ford isn't it?

35:11

Yeah. You were born here weren't you? I

35:14

was I lived here in the city until

35:16

I was about 12 and then I moved

35:18

up to the suburbs. You never thought it

35:20

would be a homecoming like this did you?

35:23

No never would have imagined it.

35:25

Might have dreamed it or thought

35:28

it. Never even dreamed it. I

35:30

presume it has caught up with the three of

35:33

you now. Your visit to

35:35

Chicago alone in a day or two should

35:37

have given you the idea that you are

35:39

now connected with the phenomenon

35:41

of the year. A pleasure.

35:44

Speaking for myself. You don't mind it a

35:46

bit. No not at all. I mean we're

35:48

glad to see something that

35:50

had such an investment of energy and

35:52

intelligence in the part of George Lucas

35:55

be as successful as it is.

35:58

Right. As

36:00

far as the motion picture goes, when you were

36:02

making it obvious, I hope it was a fun

36:04

movie to make. A lot of fun. Yeah,

36:06

it was. You did it. But

36:09

somewhere along the line, did somebody get the idea that,

36:11

hey, we've got something more than an idea here. That's

36:14

it. From the

36:16

moment I read the script, I remember the

36:18

first day I met in the office in

36:20

London, and the production manager looked

36:22

over at me, and he said, hey, we're

36:24

on a winner. Because it

36:26

was all written in the script, all the charm,

36:28

all the humor, everything is written down. It's

36:30

another matter to try and get it on the screen.

36:33

But you... Not

36:35

only that, but the actors' parts were really

36:37

clearly written. I mean, there's a very... You

36:40

know, when you look at something like that, it gives you a

36:42

great feeling of confidence. Because it

36:45

is almost actor-proof. And

36:49

we hope that we realize what George's intention

36:51

was. I think we did. Obviously, you did,

36:53

right. The thing that we hear, by the

36:55

way, is that you are all set for

36:57

at least one more, or maybe even two

36:59

more. Is that definite, Kerry? Yeah,

37:02

we're assigned for two more sequels that are

37:04

probably going to be done next summer. If they do

37:06

two, they would do them both at the same time,

37:08

I think. Harrison's like,

37:10

speak for yourself, sweetie. I'm

37:13

not assigned to do more. Well,

37:16

but notice Kerry

37:18

says they were going to shoot the two

37:20

sequels back to back. Yeah.

37:23

Right. So it would just be one

37:25

production. Which

37:27

had just been done with Superman 1 and 2. So

37:30

that was one way that the

37:33

studios were managing these big

37:35

budgets. This predates Superman. Yeah,

37:38

this predates Superman. 1977,

37:40

Superman, the movie came out in 1979. 1979,

37:43

okay. Yeah. Okay.

37:46

All right. So yeah, predates that.

37:48

Although maybe they were in production at that

37:50

point, because it was a pretty long shoot

37:52

with those two movies. But yeah, regardless, you

37:54

don't see that very much. I remember back

37:56

to the future two and three were

37:59

shot that way. but I'm trying

38:01

to think of any other sequels.

38:04

Lord of the Rings. No films and sequels. Oh,

38:06

Lord of the Rings, right, of course, probably most

38:08

famously. You know what really struck me

38:10

in this interview was

38:13

that they talked about how

38:16

everything about the characters

38:18

was on the page. They called, as

38:21

Harrison called it, actor-proof. And

38:23

I think that's something that in all

38:26

of our, you know, even within the

38:28

Star Wars community, they all like to kind of

38:30

joke about, you know, George and writing and script,

38:32

and you can type this

38:35

shit, you know, you can't say it, you know, all these jokes.

38:39

But the one thing that has been

38:41

so consistently great about George is

38:44

that I feel he leaves

38:46

very little ambiguity about the

38:48

characters, who they are. We laugh

38:51

sometimes about their names, Darth Maul,

38:53

you know, Sidious. But

38:56

he does, and maybe it's

38:59

reflective of how he feels about

39:02

actors and performers. Maybe

39:04

he feels that he has to make it actor-proof.

39:07

So no one can blow it, you know. He

39:09

has very specific things that he wants to deliver.

39:12

But I just like that because I think about, you

39:14

know, some of the great dialogue and, granted,

39:18

the original film was greatly

39:20

enhanced by the Hiax. But

39:23

there is some great stuff that if you

39:25

just read it and you had never seen

39:27

the movie, you really get the idea of

39:30

who Han Solo is, who

39:32

Princess Leia is, who Luke

39:36

Skywalker is. It is written

39:39

so precisely. Mm-hmm.

39:42

Yeah. A great example, I

39:44

mean, George is the one who came

39:46

up with the Clone Wars character Savage O'Press.

39:49

If you don't know what you're getting with

39:52

that character upon hearing his name, then you

39:54

gotta go hit the books and read the

39:56

comic. He's literally an oppressive savage right there.

39:59

He's an oppressive. How.

40:02

Are you added with me? This

40:05

is the actual real of tape

40:07

that was found dead Wgn. You'll

40:09

see on the spine it says

40:11

six or habit of say to

40:13

us Six, Sixteen Seventy Seven and

40:15

in our hearts is a label

40:18

on the back at that is

40:20

so cool. As. You can see

40:22

it says oh point leonard. Of

40:24

Star Wars stars Mark Hamill,

40:26

Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, and

40:29

in the real of courses

40:31

here it's optimizers to assume

40:33

that you are you Europe,

40:35

You're proud owner of this.

40:38

I'm not gonna lie, I will returns to

40:40

the radios the oh okay are at all

40:42

right and I mean I ask. Is.

40:44

This going to be like one of those

40:46

library books we got. We're in an elementary

40:49

school that the city we sit by no

40:51

one else wants there's I might as well

40:53

just keep it was So have my Star

40:55

Wars novelisations that ice. Ah. There.

40:57

It is always a spy

40:59

book with the original Ralph

41:01

Macquarie cover in everything. I

41:03

have a house and university

41:05

near. Iowa. Dewey Decimal

41:08

system algae eaters a moderate. After

41:10

that the school I went to

41:12

St. Catherine Robbery school A ah

41:14

he stole from the nuns either

41:16

I did idea I remember I

41:18

did it to was real shame

41:20

and then you could see or

41:22

of of the only person who

41:24

checked it out on March sixteenth.

41:26

I'm assuming this is nineteen Seventy

41:28

Eight. Maybe it's seventy seven you

41:30

know what? This I I I

41:32

may have snag this. From

41:36

my Catholic. School. Boy

41:39

lists, that Catholic school really failed

41:41

me and the know what the

41:43

morale would like department that's for

41:46

sure. But who are they to

41:48

judge? I'm. That's. The actual

41:50

book and I may have check this out

41:52

even before the film was released. Wow.

41:56

Wow. Amazing! Had some

41:58

star his older.e D and. won't

42:00

suffer the same the same thing but I

42:02

mean it really I do hope that when

42:04

you return it you implore upon

42:07

them how important that is and

42:09

and perhaps they should consider

42:11

donating it or at least getting it

42:13

you know protected somehow I

42:16

read something I don't

42:18

know the entertainment reporter Roy Leonard he's

42:20

something of a broadcast legend here in

42:23

Chicago he's oh he's still with us

42:25

no he passed away but his son

42:28

his son Kelly Leonard actually

42:31

is the guy who runs the

42:33

second city here in Chicago the

42:35

famed improv venue in school and

42:38

you know the place that gave birth to the

42:41

careers of so many comedians like

42:44

I don't know but John Belushi

42:47

try that on for size and I

42:49

think Mike Meyers stopped in there

42:51

I think John Favreau himself study

42:53

there who else had studied there

42:56

so many superstars the Murray's did

42:58

the Murray brothers go Murray all

43:00

of them all you know

43:02

it was Bill Ramos the pipeline

43:05

into Saturday Night Live is

43:07

the second city here in Chicago and so Kelly

43:10

runs that place and I reached out to

43:12

him today and sent him a link said

43:14

hey you know I thought you'd want to

43:16

hear this this is your dad with the

43:18

stars of Star Wars this is Hollywood

43:21

history right here and you see

43:23

he was very appreciative and gracious

43:26

upon getting the link I

43:28

think he just said amazing you know

43:30

he was yeah so let's dig in

43:32

more into the table let's open up

43:34

the phone lines give

43:36

us a call right now it's the Roy

43:39

Leonard show and a caller has now

43:41

keep in mind you know the film

43:43

had already been out for maybe three

43:45

weeks at this point and

43:48

people had a lot of questions a

43:50

lot of questions you know this might

43:52

even sound a little bit like the

43:54

RFR after shows with the callers but

43:56

original stars can you imagine right

43:59

so put yourself back into you know

44:01

the era of June 77 and

44:04

maybe you saw Star Wars twice

44:06

maybe three times for the

44:08

real hard cores but here's

44:11

a caller asking question about Obi-Wan

44:14

Kenobi. What happened to Obi-Wan

44:16

Kenobi? Was he killed by Darth Vader or

44:18

did he just disassociate his molecules and

44:20

merge into the force? That's it,

44:22

he disassociated his molecules.

44:24

You got it. Will his presence

44:26

be back in future Star Wars

44:28

epics? Well he said, if he

44:30

said to Darth Vader if you

44:33

strike me down I will come

44:35

back more powerful and stronger than

44:37

you can imagine and he as

44:39

you see when he sees that

44:41

we're safely boarding the Millennium Falcon

44:43

he sort of closes his eyes

44:45

and allows himself to be

44:47

struck down but it's not like

44:50

in the cantina where the Waller's man

44:52

lost an arm and just sort of

44:54

crumples into nothingness. I hope

44:56

he'll be back. I'm sure his presence will

44:58

be back if we're not lucky enough to have

45:00

Sir Alec back with us. So I say it

45:03

three times, it's a tremendous movie and to the

45:05

three of you, the four of us be with

45:07

you. Thank you very much. This

45:09

is unbelievable. I mean you know I've seen

45:13

here and there I can't remember which

45:15

of the chat shows it was

45:17

maybe Merv Griffin or something like

45:19

that where the three of them

45:23

were together. In fact now that I say that I

45:25

don't even I know I've seen I think

45:28

it was the three of them and

45:31

that was one thing but for this

45:34

casual of them just sitting

45:36

around the studio and taking calls and

45:38

talking like is very very different. I

45:41

think the one that I'm thinking of it

45:44

was the three of them but it was it was right.

45:48

It was for Empire Strikes Back and it

45:50

was a television show and but as Mark

45:52

said in that intro that this

45:54

was the last tour that they ever did

45:56

the first and only tour that they did

45:58

as a trio. Obviously for

46:00

television, especially if it's out in LA or

46:02

whatever, they might be able to get them

46:04

together. But as far as sending them out,

46:07

can you imagine just the

46:09

three of them on the road? Just

46:12

imagine the excitement knowing you're part of

46:14

this huge thing, your

46:17

career path is set. Yeah,

46:21

it's just what an awesome time capsule

46:23

it is. Yeah, truly. Tell

46:26

me about Obi-Wan Kenobi. What happened to

46:28

him? No, it was molecules. His

46:30

molecules. Harrison's just winging it. This

46:33

associated his molecules? Yeah, right. Haven't

46:36

you ever disassociated your molecules?

46:41

Harrison, he's just winging it. You

46:46

can hear the who cares underneath the

46:48

surface. It's getting there. Already

46:51

the film's been out three weeks and Harrison's already

46:53

like, oh, Jesus. He

46:57

was over it three weeks into it. This

47:01

visit to Chicago was something of

47:03

a homecoming for Harrison. As

47:05

you heard earlier, Roy Leonard mentioned, Harrison

47:08

did grow up in Chicago. In

47:11

the suburbs, he grew up in Park

47:13

Ridge along the north suburbs there. I

47:16

even have his address, 109 North

47:18

Washington Avenue. Go visit

47:20

the home of Harrison Ford. I'll take you there

47:22

next time you come to town, Swank. He

47:25

went to... That'd be great. He went

47:27

to the main home of Harrison Ford. Yeah, let's

47:29

go there. We'll just camp out there, you know?

47:33

With a ton of Han Solo action

47:35

figures and we'll play Star

47:37

Wars in his front yard. How

47:40

many people can say they've done that?

47:42

Probably two in a few months.

47:44

It'll be a solid YouTube video, at least

47:46

for a couple of minutes before the authorities

47:48

arrive. Please

47:52

take your toys away from the

47:54

childhood home of Harrison Ford, sir.

47:57

Well, if we made the news, it would be worth it because

47:59

maybe... Word would travel to Harrison Ford

48:02

himself and I can just

48:04

imagine the surly look on his face

48:08

Cares Years

48:13

Okay, so let's open up the phone lines

48:15

We have another caller here who wants to

48:17

talk to the stars of Star Wars Mark

48:19

Hamill Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher about

48:22

The Mount of the sand people what's

48:24

that all about? I

48:27

wonder What those

48:30

animals were that the sand people were riding? Those

48:33

are those are called Banthas B-A-N-T-H-A-S

48:39

And they're very plentiful in South

48:41

America, so George had two of them flown in

48:45

And I mean actually Banthas can be good

48:47

performers on camera that one wasn't fed all

48:49

morning So I mean he was prodded with

48:51

sticks and was able to hit his marks

48:53

and you know a moat

48:55

properly Well my god that

48:57

would get you canceled today Banta

49:00

abuse now again

49:02

PETA on the line evolution of

49:04

these guys in their Relationship the

49:06

Star Wars the first person who

49:09

answers this isn't marker. Carrie. It's

49:11

Harrison It's a banter

49:13

and even so B-A-N-T-H-A-S Ask

49:17

Harrison nowadays what that thing was

49:19

called and you will get two

49:21

words in return Who

49:23

cares? But

49:26

back in 77 I

49:29

mean he's just so sharp. He's

49:31

so sharp when it comes to recalling

49:33

all of this trivia about Star Wars.

49:35

It's hilarious We have

49:37

another caller Jason on

49:39

the line This young

49:42

fan wants to ask some questions

49:44

about the droid C-3PO

49:46

and Luke's ride the Landsfeeder

49:49

He has a that one guy with that

49:51

gold one. I forgot his name. 3PO C-3PO. Yeah,

49:54

we'll see a man in there Yep,

49:56

sure because it looks awful friends for somebody

49:58

to fit inside a very

50:00

tiny sort of ballet dancer's body. George

50:03

looked for someone who was, you

50:05

know, uh... His name is Anthony Daniels,

50:07

by the way. Yes, and I mean he really deserves

50:09

credit because it was his voice and his performance all

50:12

the way through. He was a

50:14

mime artist and he was working in

50:17

Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are dead on the

50:19

west end and the suit he was

50:21

in was vacuum formed

50:23

to his body. I mean when

50:25

we did retakes in Death Valley,

50:28

we wound up with just a

50:30

little high school girl who was thin enough

50:33

to get into the robot. She didn't know what

50:35

was going on. We were out in my little

50:37

hovercraft flying around and she says, hey, what is

50:39

this anyway? One of my

50:41

kids wanted to know how you did that hovercraft thing.

50:44

Movie magic. I'm really a magician to this boy. I

50:46

don't want to give away any of the tricks because

50:48

when you find out you go, oh really? It's very

50:50

disappointing. I told my little brother and he wishes he

50:52

didn't know now. Good. Don't tell us. Okay. There's

50:57

a couple of things going on

50:59

there in that. Yeah, unpack some

51:01

of this. The fact that

51:03

Anthony Daniels is built like a 16 year

51:05

old ballerina. That

51:08

is something I hadn't heard before. Yes,

51:12

I know it. So they did

51:14

reshoots in Death Valley, which we've

51:16

all known about. But did we

51:18

not, did we ever hear the

51:20

story about Anthony Daniels being unavailable

51:23

for those reshoots? So they used

51:25

a 16 year old

51:27

girl, whoever this person is.

51:30

I've never heard of him not being available

51:32

for anything with respect to 3PO. It

51:35

must have just been a shot where he

51:37

was just there, standing there, whatever. We'll have

51:39

to take a closer look at the material

51:41

that was shot. No, Jimmy said, I think

51:43

he said that it was when they were

51:45

in the land speeder. So

51:47

maybe that was just 3PO sitting in the speeder.

51:50

Oh, it could have been. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, you're

51:52

right. He did say in the speeder. Interesting.

51:56

So we'll Have to look in

51:59

the J.W. Rinsler's world. it is

52:01

far as his book The Making

52:03

of Star Wars and see if

52:05

there's any mention of this sixteen

52:07

year old girl. or perhaps this

52:09

is just a Star Wars tale

52:11

that got lost a time over

52:13

the U S. and I also

52:15

love how bob it's Harrison. Who.

52:17

When the girl as hell who's a Golden

52:19

One I forgot save I mean this is

52:22

what Summers is of rice. I mean people

52:24

demon of Sees Repeal we just roll off

52:26

their songs like it does. Now who's at

52:28

Golden Once was at a real robot remember

52:31

that was kind of a miss us owning

52:33

whether or not there was an actual person

52:35

in there. Lucasfilm kind of played up there

52:37

point or to those you know so much

52:40

say Anthony Daniels chagrin where he felt like

52:42

he was he was been a will disrespected

52:44

in that regard. I read the he thought

52:46

he was being considered. Just a special

52:49

effect, right? And. So

52:51

it's Harrison though who jumps in.

52:54

And isn't Anthony Daniels by the

52:56

ways the name of the yeah

52:58

and but there's it. Reminds me

53:01

of the stories that happened a

53:03

few years ago. When answered he

53:05

ran into Harrison had some bank

53:07

weights and he approaches there's in

53:09

his table Harrison thought Anthony's was

53:11

the waiter any started giving answer

53:14

the his order. For.

53:18

Back in Nineteen Seventy Seven

53:21

Harrison Ford? Wanna make sure

53:23

that Anthony Daniels got his

53:25

do as the performance artist

53:28

for seats? Repeal. Where

53:30

these waiters years as your dress

53:32

fancy with their golden tuxedo jackets.

53:36

I'd like to porterhouse rare. Other

53:42

a bottle of them are low. Can we get

53:44

some fresh bread on the to? Our

53:46

Souls Crunchy breadsticks. oh fuck you

53:48

think you think there's any? Just

53:51

roll with it. It was so

53:53

embarrassing that he had good choice

53:55

but to just as right away

53:57

sir and a sense of course

53:59

with his. Be right back when he

54:01

just solved away in that as. A

54:04

poor guy. I was his Don't

54:06

starve. Or not or know you

54:08

have an elderly or wouldn't have put up with that

54:11

can. he would have been like. Slang

54:14

is adamant that I'm glad you're

54:16

bringing up Kenny Baker. Some us

54:18

to see gets a shout out

54:20

in the next off when our

54:22

eyes color online here with has

54:24

just a question for the stars

54:26

of Star Wars about our to

54:28

do to and the droids and

54:30

are we might hear some like

54:32

Us languages This responses might not

54:34

be considered P C to this

54:36

day Us. But

54:39

back then it was. You notice

54:41

how people. I.

54:43

Read. An

54:45

article about Kenny Baker he continued Baker

54:47

was so was the human inside the

54:50

as a human version of our to

54:52

the to his am varies images Am

54:54

54:57

54:59

55:01

dad dwarf has as as a small

55:03

55:06

55:08

55:10

55:21

55:25

55:28

use about twelve of them will you know

55:30

in the sand people bring all of those

55:32

are what are they call a mob things

55:34

to to your home. All the droids, the

55:36

droid strike and written word. When I bring

55:38

all the droids you had a whole series

55:40

of them lined up doing. They were incredible

55:43

and. rear end and i think that's one

55:45

thing that's nice about the sequel john's tears

55:47

these special effects man who built those robots

55:49

field these robots that could do everything you

55:51

didn't even get to see like the spider

55:53

robot with all the arms all those arms

55:55

worked they go do a lot of but

55:58

again now the story line with them important

56:00

thing and if a proportion where you got

56:02

to show off your hardware didn't work out

56:04

it went. Yeah

56:07

boy I don't want

56:09

to get sidetracked. No

56:12

I'm not gonna do it. I'm not gonna go

56:14

down and it's something else I'll save for it

56:16

for another show. I promise I'm not holding back

56:18

but I want to talk

56:21

about what's actually there. So yeah so

56:23

Kenny Baker getting the getting some

56:25

props as you said he's not a special effect

56:27

he's a person and you

56:30

know the description of you know dwarf

56:32

versus major I went to high school with

56:34

a guy who was a dwarf he was a

56:36

good friend of mine all through really all

56:38

through junior high and into high school and he

56:42

would go to little people of

56:45

America conventions every month or

56:47

so and that was

56:49

something that he was very open

56:51

and talked a lot about he was very

56:54

much into educating people on

56:56

the differences and and all of that

56:58

and you know maybe it's gone out

57:00

of fashion out of vogue I don't know but it

57:03

everything Mark was saying was stuff that I

57:05

heard directly from my friend

57:08

many years ago who who was a dwarf

57:10

and and he took a lot of pride

57:12

I remember when the movie Total Recall

57:14

came out and there was a female

57:17

dwarf that was in that film and they

57:19

they always were very supportive of of each

57:21

other when they would get these roles in

57:23

these movies and how how bigger icon

57:25

can you get then you know Kenny Baker

57:27

in Star Wars so it was a big

57:30

deal oh yeah also

57:32

mentioned by mark in that clip

57:35

is the spider droid and

57:37

I believe he's talking about this

57:40

it's the WED Treadwell that

57:42

can be seen outside of

57:46

the Jawa sand crawler and I think

57:48

he also figured tooling around the streets

57:51

of Moss Iceley Jimmy Max got the

57:53

Hasbro figure that's a great one I

57:55

have the figure here and this is

57:57

what Mark called the spider droid And

58:01

what he said was John Stierz created

58:03

this thing to be fully articulate, so

58:05

all the arms would do tasks and

58:07

things. Also, in an earlier clip, we

58:10

heard Mark refer to the Walrus Man

58:13

when he was talking about Obi-Wan

58:15

confronting the Walrus Man in the

58:17

Cantina. And this is a solid

58:20

year before Hasbro, maybe even a

58:22

year and a half before Kenner

58:25

released the Walrus Man

58:27

action figure. I

58:30

don't think we were able to

58:32

apply a name to that character

58:34

before the action figure was

58:37

released. I don't ever

58:39

recall him being referred to as

58:42

Walrus Man before

58:44

we had the action figure, and then

58:46

we knew who he was. So he

58:48

wasn't in the script as Walrus Man?

58:51

I don't think so. That was a

58:54

Kenner moniker. Is that what you're saying?

58:56

That was one of those characters that

58:58

Kenner named. Maybe

59:00

it was. I seem to recall looking

59:02

at a John Molo sketch of a

59:05

bunch of Cantina characters, and I think

59:07

John Molo may have referred to the

59:09

character as Walrus Man. But

59:12

I love how Mark was referring to

59:14

him as Walrus Man earlier, because

59:16

we know Mark for a long time would

59:18

just name characters on the fly that he

59:20

was working with. Walrus

59:23

Man, and they

59:25

got somebody named after an

59:27

Italian appetizer, Calamari. I've actually

59:30

heard Mark say all the time. We would

59:32

chase him around with butter. We

59:34

got a dipping sauce here. But

59:38

so the whole thing

59:40

would be pretty good. The

59:42

Walrus Man figure didn't get released

59:44

until that second wave in 79,

59:47

so we're a couple years

59:49

out from Walrus Man. But according to Mark,

59:51

this is the WED Treadwell. This

59:54

was with the multiple arms that ran

59:56

on these treads. This was

59:58

called the Spider Droid. apparently to

1:00:00

mark in the rest of the crew.

1:00:03

So, uh, that's just, I'm gonna start calling. It,

1:00:06

you, you run into confusion

1:00:08

when you think about the Bulmar monks,

1:00:11

because that guy was just going to

1:00:13

say, you know, that's the first thing

1:00:15

that pops into my head is the

1:00:17

star Wars fan when I hear spider

1:00:19

droid, but, uh, the, uh, old WED

1:00:21

Treadwell, the wed Treadwell.

1:00:24

Very cool. We have another caller on

1:00:26

the line here who wants to ask

1:00:28

a question. About,

1:00:31

uh, the end battle, the battle of Yavin,

1:00:33

the destruction of the death star. You

1:00:36

know, keen eyes back in those

1:00:38

days, notice that it

1:00:40

was more than just the millennium

1:00:42

Falcon and Luke Skywalker's X-wing flying

1:00:44

away from the destruction of the

1:00:46

death star. And it gets brought

1:00:49

up in this caller's question, uh,

1:00:51

to WGN back in June, 1977.

1:00:55

I'd like to know how many starships

1:00:57

flew left at the end of the

1:01:00

fight scene. The last thing. Well,

1:01:02

let's see wedge lost a part of

1:01:04

his controls and then flew off. I

1:01:06

said, go ahead and get clear. And

1:01:09

there was, uh, I was left. I

1:01:12

think, uh, three, three,

1:01:14

who was the last one? The wedge

1:01:16

made it and I know porkins got

1:01:18

fried and everyone did, but you and

1:01:20

wedge me and wedge and then, but

1:01:23

I still remember as the third star

1:01:26

ship. That that's the trick question. Uh,

1:01:28

no, no fair. We weren't ready for that. I

1:01:31

sing the Jeopardy song. Yeah. I

1:01:36

admitted to answer that question. Well,

1:01:40

we know that it was just wedge,

1:01:43

Luke and Han and Chewie. I

1:01:45

think there was, there was, um, there

1:01:48

was a Y wing alone

1:01:50

surviving Y wing. That by the

1:01:52

way, the Y wing pilots, you

1:01:54

got no stomach for this gold.

1:01:57

Three is the, uh, Y. wing

1:02:00

that survived gold 3 does

1:02:03

gold 3 show back up in

1:02:05

Empire Strikes Back no

1:02:07

or I don't think

1:02:09

we see why wings and

1:02:12

I know we don't know why wings in Death

1:02:14

Star 2 we did wait right not an Empire

1:02:16

I think we do in in the

1:02:19

Battle of Endor I think we do

1:02:21

as well but gold 3 the character

1:02:23

has been named Evan Verlaine Evan

1:02:27

Verlaine was the pilot

1:02:30

who flew gold 3 Jack Lelane

1:02:32

no Verlaine Verlaine oh

1:02:39

sorry Verlaine but what I love about

1:02:41

that back and forth there is just

1:02:44

the casual mentions of

1:02:46

wedge you know oh wedge

1:02:48

of course wedge you know it's like back

1:02:50

then you know things were happening so fast

1:02:52

and furiously on the screen to be able

1:02:54

to be someone who's seen the movie a

1:02:57

couple times and to be like oh yeah

1:02:59

wedge I know exactly who he's talking about

1:03:01

it you know it's probably

1:03:04

years in the future I'm

1:03:07

feeling that they maybe

1:03:10

they were prepped maybe they were

1:03:12

prepped by Charlie Lippincott back

1:03:14

in the day before they went out on

1:03:16

tour they might have had not

1:03:19

cheat sheets per se but maybe some

1:03:21

notes maybe some things but hmm I

1:03:24

don't know cuz Marcus such

1:03:26

a nerd and he had scenes with

1:03:28

wedge and even that's

1:03:30

true even name checks wedge in

1:03:32

the dialogue so you

1:03:34

know and pork I get back wedge you

1:03:36

can't do any good back there yep and

1:03:39

pork ins also you know mm-hmm they get

1:03:41

these they get named I work if that

1:03:43

was a surprise you know the

1:03:45

poor person Harrison is sitting on the other side

1:03:47

of the table going I don't know what this

1:03:49

guy's talking so I know

1:03:53

Panthers the

1:03:57

Kenny Baker's a little midget and

1:04:00

She's three-peeler, Anthony Daniels. What's

1:04:02

a mime or...? I know

1:04:05

the mime guy. We

1:04:08

have another caller on the line, Jason. We

1:04:12

have a question about what that

1:04:14

creepy monster was in the trash

1:04:16

compactor. What was that thing in the

1:04:18

garbage pit? That was a dionoga.

1:04:21

Again, there's information there that's not

1:04:23

in the film. The dionoga

1:04:25

is a garbage eating animal that was

1:04:28

put on this new Death Star to

1:04:31

eat all the

1:04:34

food and leftover old orange rinds and so

1:04:36

forth. I think when the walls start converging,

1:04:38

he has a little hole that he...that's why

1:04:40

he lets me go. He swims away and

1:04:42

he gets in his little dionoga

1:04:44

apartment throw pillows. It's simple.

1:04:47

It's a condominium table. A

1:04:50

little dionoga apartment. It's

1:04:54

tastefully decorated. Yes, of

1:04:56

course. I'm surprised

1:04:58

that Mark didn't conjure up

1:05:00

the story about when

1:05:03

he got out of the pool

1:05:06

that they were in filming, the walls

1:05:09

closing in and the trash compactor, and he got

1:05:11

out and there was a piece of smudge on

1:05:13

his stormtrooper gear and he

1:05:15

said, pardon me, George, is this

1:05:18

some dionoga poo poo? Oh,

1:05:21

that hat. Song

1:05:26

to the tune of the Chattanooga choo choo. Yes. Always

1:05:29

a song and dance, man. Mark Ham.

1:05:31

For sure. All right.

1:05:33

We got another question about AdLibs

1:05:35

and the dialogue and George Lucas's

1:05:37

writing style. Take it away. Was

1:05:40

there any ad libbing or

1:05:42

were there any ideas expressed by any of

1:05:44

you as you were... Harrison

1:05:47

did the most. Harrison ad

1:05:49

libbed more than any of us, but he'd

1:05:52

worked with George before and he understood that George is

1:05:54

very fair that way. George would say if there's anything

1:05:56

you don't feel comfortable with... Also, he's

1:05:58

taller than me. He is tall

1:06:01

in the George and he is bigger and older than

1:06:03

George. He bullied him a lot. Because you know, I

1:06:05

got a feeling everything, as I say, I've only seen

1:06:07

the movie twice and I've looked at some film clips

1:06:09

three or four times, but everything that you say is

1:06:12

as natural as I've

1:06:14

ever heard an actor utter lines

1:06:16

that in themselves were not natural.

1:06:20

No, there was a lot of... There

1:06:22

were times when I threatened to tide George

1:06:25

up and make him repeat his own dialogue.

1:06:27

I told him you could type that stuff, but you couldn't say

1:06:29

it. But it turned

1:06:32

out that he was always right. He

1:06:35

gives you an incredible amount of freedom and responsibility,

1:06:37

but he's always there. He knows exactly what he

1:06:39

wants. George Lucas, of course, is the man responsible

1:06:41

for Star Wars and these are three of the

1:06:43

folks who are in the movie. I don't know

1:06:45

that people know that he also wrote the script.

1:06:48

He wrote the movie and directed it. And

1:06:51

a lot of people might not remember

1:06:53

that his name was connected with another

1:06:55

rather well-known motion picture called American Graffiti.

1:06:58

You were in American Graffiti. I was in American Graffiti. Yeah,

1:07:00

that's what I thought. Right. I told you

1:07:03

you'd recognize that face. Wow. Just

1:07:05

think that he

1:07:09

may have been one of the first to say something

1:07:11

like recognizing the face of Harrison

1:07:13

Ford as he was on his

1:07:15

meteoric rise to really, I

1:07:17

think, define what it

1:07:19

is to be a movie star for

1:07:21

an entire generation. When

1:07:24

you look at the Bogarts and

1:07:26

the Cagneys and the Spencer

1:07:28

Tracys that just, you say

1:07:31

movie star, they

1:07:33

come to mind. And Harrison Ford is

1:07:36

one, in my opinion, one of the

1:07:38

last living real movie stars. Well,

1:07:41

yeah, I mean, yeah. From

1:07:44

that old school sort of, with that old

1:07:46

school edge. But

1:07:48

yeah, I don't ever recall

1:07:50

hearing Harrison on the record telling that

1:07:52

story about you can write this stuff,

1:07:54

but you can't say it, George. I

1:07:56

know the first time I heard that

1:07:58

story told, it was Carrie, who

1:08:01

told it. And then I'm pretty

1:08:03

sure I've heard Mark recount the same tale.

1:08:05

I've heard Mark do it. Yeah. This is

1:08:07

the first time I've actually heard it from

1:08:09

Harrison himself. And, uh,

1:08:11

and so, you know, again, he

1:08:13

takes this sort of leadership role

1:08:15

among the, the, the trio

1:08:18

of actors. And notice,

1:08:20

you don't care. He's very, you know,

1:08:23

she's reserved almost

1:08:26

as, uh, probably had never been on

1:08:28

a media blitz like this before. This is

1:08:30

all new to her. And,

1:08:33

uh, when they showed up at the airport, as you

1:08:35

heard Mark saying an earlier clip, I mean, they were

1:08:37

met by fans like they were the

1:08:39

Beatles. And the

1:08:42

trio of them had been on the

1:08:44

road. They started in Vancouver and then

1:08:46

moved into Chicago, um, uh, maybe

1:08:50

with some other stops in between. But while

1:08:52

they were out there on that blitz, that's

1:08:54

when Star Wars blew up. So

1:08:57

it's all very fresh, very fresh. Well,

1:08:59

no offense to the Beatles. They're

1:09:02

my Beatles. I mean, Harrison, Carrie, and

1:09:04

Mark, uh, as far as, you know,

1:09:07

being the, that, that group that,

1:09:09

that you looked up to that, that

1:09:12

was, that was me. That was me. I

1:09:14

would have freaked out. Uh, unfortunately, by

1:09:16

the time I was old enough to understand

1:09:18

sort of, you know,

1:09:21

the nature of filmmaking and all of

1:09:23

that, they were, you know, long out of it.

1:09:25

And the films had already come and gone, but,

1:09:28

um, so I don't ever remember. The only thing

1:09:30

I have a memory of in the whole

1:09:32

return of the Jedi hype, obviously TV commercials

1:09:34

about what, you know, with the film and

1:09:36

some of the toys and stuff. But I

1:09:39

remember watching Roger, uh, Cisco and Ebert wins

1:09:41

as they reviewed return of the Jedi that

1:09:43

was, uh, and I watched it just so

1:09:45

I could see clips of return of the

1:09:48

Jedi on journey. Absolutely.

1:09:51

Again, you're talking about more

1:09:53

Chicago broadcasting legends. Uh,

1:09:55

Cisco and Ebert. Um, we

1:09:57

have another caller on the line who has a question about.

1:10:00

a lack of blood and violence in

1:10:02

this film. This came out in the

1:10:04

mid-70s when that was sort

1:10:07

of on the rise, gore

1:10:10

in films. It was sort

1:10:12

of a fresh thing in

1:10:14

filmmaking. Filmmakers weren't

1:10:16

holding back and you were seeing really scary,

1:10:18

kind of gory things on

1:10:20

film that you wouldn't have seen a decade

1:10:23

prior. And this caller

1:10:26

has a question about the

1:10:28

fact that there is little to none of

1:10:31

that in Star Wars. The

1:10:33

reviewers said there was no blood loading

1:10:35

or relatively little and they're speaking of

1:10:37

course of the arm that came off

1:10:39

the bar. But, oh my

1:10:41

God, think about this. The movie opens up with

1:10:45

this terrific laser gun.

1:10:48

The destruction of a whole planet. Yeah,

1:10:51

and so here's the movie starts off with

1:10:53

six or eight people being killed including one

1:10:55

guy having his voice box cry. Then

1:10:58

you go on to have several other fights

1:11:00

and people are falling all over the place and

1:11:02

then to culminate it all. They destroy a

1:11:04

whole planet and millions of people and that bothers

1:11:07

me a little. I'm trying to rationalize it

1:11:09

in my mind. The interviewer before I came

1:11:11

on the air says, well, let's all make

1:11:13

believe and I heard a thing

1:11:15

on National Public Radio the other day where they

1:11:17

were talking. I think I got

1:11:19

the drift of what you're saying, Frank. But

1:11:22

I think that you have

1:11:24

to, and acknowledge that George's

1:11:26

intention, what George's intention

1:11:29

was in all of this, I mean,

1:11:31

there's no question that this guy

1:11:33

is not pandering to the public

1:11:36

taste for violence in what he

1:11:38

does. He's using this as a

1:11:40

literary device and it's

1:11:43

like all of old mythology. If

1:11:45

you read fairy tales in mythology, they're

1:11:47

full of allusions

1:11:49

to violence and violence. It's

1:11:52

the stuff of... Frank,

1:11:55

it's been delightful to talk with you but

1:11:57

we got three people waiting and I just

1:12:00

It's impossible, it's impossible to discuss that

1:12:02

question in 30 seconds but we'll be

1:12:04

thinking about

1:12:11

it. Yeah, yeah, all right Frank.

1:12:13

All right, we'll see you. We'll see you later.

1:12:16

Now Frank was a little shaken by some of

1:12:18

the imagery in the film. Yeah. You

1:12:20

know the shootout at the beginning or the destruction

1:12:23

of the entire planet. So my setup to this

1:12:25

about the lack of blood and violence and it

1:12:28

is a little understated.

1:12:30

I think the question

1:12:33

was more about the implied violence

1:12:35

as opposed to just showing the

1:12:37

score. Yeah, Harrison's answer was great.

1:12:39

Yeah. Because as I was listening

1:12:41

to it, and these are, by the way for those listening,

1:12:43

I've not heard any of this. This is all fresh

1:12:45

for me. Nobody's heard this except for me. So I'm

1:12:47

reacting to it. Yeah, nobody's heard it but I'm just

1:12:49

saying it's not like I had heard these before. So

1:12:52

as Frank the caller was speaking,

1:12:54

I was thinking how would I answer this?

1:12:56

And Harrison was dead on because I was

1:12:58

thinking look, even the Bible itself, the

1:13:01

book of all morality, it's full

1:13:03

of violence. That's how we learn.

1:13:05

That's how heroes are born of

1:13:08

these trials and things. It's not

1:13:11

about glorifying violence. It's about what

1:13:13

the violence teaches us about ourselves and

1:13:16

our greater natures on the other side of

1:13:19

it and all of that. I've never

1:13:22

understood. And

1:13:25

I remember going to school sometimes with kids

1:13:28

that weren't allowed to watch TV or

1:13:30

weren't allowed to watch things that were,

1:13:32

and I understand, excessive. That's one

1:13:34

thing. But just your general hero

1:13:37

stories, adventure stories, it's

1:13:39

something I could just never understand because

1:13:42

it's

1:13:45

how we prove ourselves. It's how we learn. It's

1:13:48

how we grow. It's how we evolve.

1:13:51

Life is a tragedy and it's

1:13:53

our ability to persevere through

1:13:55

it because

1:13:57

it all ends one way. tragedy

1:14:00

and our, it's our ability to persevere through it

1:14:02

that, that makes us who we are. So,

1:14:04

but I thought Harrison did a great job answering

1:14:06

that. He sure did. He sure

1:14:09

did. And you hear, you know, he's,

1:14:11

he's taken, he's sitting in the driver's seat

1:14:13

for these interviews with these young actors, you

1:14:15

know, I mean, Harrison was

1:14:18

a 10 to

1:14:20

14 years older than these two, you know,

1:14:23

and, uh, he, he definitely, takes

1:14:26

the lead in these interviews.

1:14:28

But, uh, did I hear him say he's older

1:14:31

than George Lucas? And they were

1:14:33

talking, they, they said taller, taller. Okay.

1:14:35

I thought I heard older. No,

1:14:38

taller. Um, you

1:14:42

can type this bleep, but you can't.

1:14:45

All right. Um, here's a

1:14:47

clip that features Carrie and

1:14:49

the caller wants to know about what

1:14:52

the most difficult line of dialogue was

1:14:54

for her. And then the question gets

1:14:56

thrown out to the other two actors

1:14:58

about what the most difficult scene was

1:15:00

to shoot. So, uh, let's

1:15:03

take it away. I have two

1:15:05

questions. The first one directed to Carrie Fisher. Um,

1:15:09

what was your hardest line in the film? Uh,

1:15:11

I have placed information vital to the survival of

1:15:13

the rebellion into the memory systems of this R2 unit. My

1:15:15

father will know how to retrieve it. I

1:15:19

say that all the time in my personal life. How

1:15:22

many takes on that one? Oh, that was

1:15:25

a hologram. And that, uh, we had to

1:15:27

actually re-film it. Oh, really? Yeah. They filmed

1:15:29

it the first time and my hair,

1:15:31

they had a black curtain behind me and my hair,

1:15:34

uh, disappeared and they looked at it and

1:15:36

I looked like Yule Brenner in a white

1:15:39

dress, so they re-filmed it

1:15:41

with gold sprayed in my hair. So I

1:15:43

did it about 50 times. That's

1:15:45

interesting. Anything else, Scott? Yes.

1:15:47

Uh, what was the scene that you had to do

1:15:50

the most often? Well,

1:15:52

that's probably the, uh, one of the cockpit

1:15:54

scenes. And which I had to say, it'll

1:15:56

take a few minutes for the navicomputer to

1:15:59

calculate the coordinates. Oh, this is

1:16:01

when you're gonna hit the speed of light or go through

1:16:03

the right. Yeah, we don't like there's a lot of The

1:16:08

navigator to calculate the coordinates by

1:16:11

the way has anybody got the outtakes either there must

1:16:13

be a real somewhere I'm wearing the gag reel somewhere

1:16:15

around. I haven't seen it'll wind up in the Carson

1:16:17

show with you guys I

1:16:19

hope so It'll end up on Blu-ray

1:16:23

some yes Blu-ray. I'm looking

1:16:25

into the future. I I'm

1:16:28

Roy Leonard entertainment reporter and

1:16:30

soothsayer I can see

1:16:32

the future And I

1:16:34

can tell you what's going to

1:16:37

happen with technology. Yeah, no

1:16:40

It was all the Carson show bags. Yeah,

1:16:42

right, right There

1:16:45

was really no where out takes of the

1:16:47

of the Star Wars Yeah, here

1:16:49

we go Harrison Wild yes.

1:16:52

Yes. Oh you like that thought you like

1:16:54

that Ed Alright

1:16:57

you like the force Ed you like that. Yeah,

1:16:59

you like this crazy thing. I think Ed

1:17:01

is half in the bag right now So

1:17:08

we have one more clip from

1:17:10

this incredible interview from

1:17:12

June 77

1:17:15

and a caller points

1:17:18

out. I mean this is This

1:17:20

is the thing Star

1:17:22

Wars has always been something

1:17:24

that spotlighted

1:17:28

strong female characters It's

1:17:31

something that gets debated a lot Over

1:17:35

especially over the course of the last five to ten years

1:17:38

But back in 1970

1:17:41

you're gonna listen to this caller

1:17:43

respond to the character of Leia

1:17:46

in a way that recognizes

1:17:50

how Star Wars didn't

1:17:52

hold back when it came to female

1:17:54

characters and they presented a

1:17:56

very empowered character in Princess Leia

1:17:58

and this

1:18:01

did not fall flat on

1:18:03

fans. For some reason

1:18:05

the creators of Star Wars today

1:18:07

believe they're reinventing the strong

1:18:10

female character or inventing

1:18:12

it when in fact that

1:18:15

characterization of the female hero

1:18:17

has been in place since

1:18:19

1977 and fans

1:18:22

of even that era recognized

1:18:24

it. I have

1:18:27

a question for Carrie. A compliment to

1:18:29

everybody of course. Carrie what kind

1:18:31

of princess is this? I mean in

1:18:33

Highline and all the other

1:18:36

science fiction movies princesses are sitting around and

1:18:38

going oh yes I can. This one slaps

1:18:40

people. That's right well it's not George didn't want her

1:18:42

to be a sort of damsel in

1:18:44

distress black vapid Judy Holliday you

1:18:47

know screaming for the guys to help her and

1:18:49

bring their stubble and their their guns

1:18:51

along. So

1:18:57

her impact was felt from day

1:18:59

one and that

1:19:02

call just proves it. And

1:19:04

it didn't go over the heads

1:19:06

of anybody watching the film. We

1:19:09

felt there was an equality

1:19:11

between the three leads Han,

1:19:14

Luke and Leia and they all

1:19:16

could hold their own and that's

1:19:18

a tradition that Star Wars really

1:19:21

helped solidify back in

1:19:23

1977 and it certainly

1:19:25

hasn't been lacking throughout the history

1:19:27

of Star Wars nor has it

1:19:29

been underappreciated. So that's

1:19:31

the final clip I have from

1:19:33

this incredible find.

1:19:36

I want to thank Ernie and I want to thank WGN

1:19:39

for allowing us to play it on the show and I

1:19:41

will be making the entire 30-minute segment

1:19:44

available to members of

1:19:46

the all-access tier at

1:19:49

1:20:13

Bunload in return as

1:20:15

far as Star Wars content

1:20:18

conversations and other RFR goodness

1:20:21

So a lot of us we sat down. Yeah Great

1:20:24

stuff great stuff, and I'm

1:20:26

glad that it's in the right hands That's for sure

1:20:28

and that you've been able to identify what a gem

1:20:31

this is and no matter what

1:20:33

happens You've always got the the digital

1:20:35

conversion, so that's that's good. So it

1:20:37

will always be there out for people

1:20:39

to have Right

1:20:42

before we start to sat down to record the

1:20:44

show we got a tip that there was a

1:20:46

recent interview done with Benny often

1:20:48

wise the team behind Game of Thrones and

1:20:50

also the team behind what was going to

1:20:53

be the Sort

1:20:55

of the birth of the force

1:20:57

Star Wars BC old You

1:21:01

know dawn of the Jedi that that story

1:21:03

that is now being

1:21:05

handled by James May director and writer

1:21:08

James mangled is but

1:21:11

it was in the hands of Benny often wise at

1:21:13

one point and Gem

1:21:16

on the happy sad confused podcast

1:21:18

hosted by Josh Horowitz I

1:21:20

guess they are making some very

1:21:23

public statements about that

1:21:25

project and Where

1:21:27

it is now and Their

1:21:30

feelings about it. Well, basically,

1:21:32

I mean the real meat of

1:21:34

this This clip

1:21:36

we're gonna play is DB Weiss

1:21:38

talking about how far along they

1:21:40

worked on the

1:21:43

Apparently the birth of the

1:21:46

Jedi story that they wanted

1:21:48

to create with Lucasfilm

1:21:51

the Game of Thrones guys were riding high

1:21:53

on the hog at this point in their

1:21:55

career and They sat

1:21:57

down with Josh Horowitz. They have a another

1:22:00

project that's out there right now. It

1:22:02

was just released. I forget what

1:22:05

the name of

1:22:09

this new project is, but

1:22:12

that's why they're on the circuit. It's

1:22:14

called Three Body Problems. Or

1:22:19

maybe just Three Body Problem. I

1:22:22

think it's a Netflix thing. They left

1:22:25

Lucasfilm and signed a big deal with

1:22:27

Netflix, like a $250 million deal with

1:22:29

Netflix once Game of

1:22:35

Thrones wrapped up and their

1:22:38

association with Star Wars fell

1:22:40

apart. But it was

1:22:42

announced by Kathy Kennedy that the

1:22:44

Game of Thrones guys, Benioff and

1:22:46

Weiss, were going to helm a

1:22:49

series of Star Wars films.

1:22:52

No information was really given about those

1:22:54

films, but it's been since learned that

1:22:56

it was Dawn of the Jedi type

1:22:58

stuff. And

1:23:02

so Horwitz has them

1:23:04

both on his show Happy, Sad,

1:23:06

Confused, talking about Three Body Problem

1:23:09

or Three Body Problems. Oh

1:23:12

no, it's just Three Body Problem. It's

1:23:15

their new show and you

1:23:17

can watch it on Netflix. Game

1:23:21

of Thrones creators. This

1:23:24

is their next big project. It

1:23:26

was supposed to be Star Wars

1:23:28

though. So Horwitz asks and D.B.

1:23:31

Weiss responds to the

1:23:33

question about how far along

1:23:35

were you guys in developing

1:23:37

this particular Star Wars story?

1:23:40

I think we got relatively far

1:23:42

story-wise with the first one. And

1:23:45

like he had kind of a basic roadmap

1:23:47

for the other two. And yeah, it was

1:23:49

a shame. I mean, it's just the truth

1:23:51

is that our

1:23:55

Hollywoods ratio or

1:23:57

batting average on

1:23:59

things can see. two things

1:24:02

actually finished has never

1:24:04

been tremendously pie and they're always

1:24:07

going to be ones that get away for

1:24:09

various reasons, you know, the ones that just

1:24:11

aren't meant to be. So, yeah,

1:24:13

it was sad that that was one of them for us, but

1:24:16

it's just you kind of, as

1:24:19

time goes on, you just kind of need to

1:24:22

let go of those things because if you

1:24:24

don't, you'll drive yourself completely crazy. There's

1:24:28

got to be a part of them though, at this

1:24:30

point that like, man, we may have

1:24:32

really dodged a bullet here. We

1:24:34

really may have. I mean, it

1:24:37

hasn't been necessarily all roses

1:24:39

for certainly

1:24:42

wasn't for Star Wars

1:24:44

films in the wake of

1:24:46

the, you know,

1:24:48

solo Rise

1:24:50

of Skywalker. These were all set to

1:24:52

come out following those. And,

1:24:55

you know, those movies, they kind of

1:24:57

laid a big egg. And then Mandalorian

1:25:00

sort of picked up the Star

1:25:03

Wars excitement.

1:25:07

And they just haven't been able to get anything going

1:25:09

in the theater since. But I

1:25:12

just can't help but think if I'm Benny often Weiss

1:25:14

that, you know, and it sounds like D.V. Weiss is

1:25:16

still pretty kind of bummed out

1:25:18

about it. I mean, I guess

1:25:21

if you're a filmmaker of a certain

1:25:23

generation, the opportunity to make

1:25:25

a whole trilogy of

1:25:27

Star Wars films is pretty exciting. But

1:25:30

I don't know, it would be hard for me to not think

1:25:33

of that as a blessing, given

1:25:35

the conditions that these people have to

1:25:38

work in with Lucasfilm. Or

1:25:41

given the way

1:25:43

the final season of Game of

1:25:46

Thrones was received by their fans,

1:25:48

maybe us as Star Wars fans

1:25:51

dodged a bullet by Benny often

1:25:53

Weiss removing themselves from Star

1:25:55

Wars. Well, the first two of them.

1:25:57

The trilogy might have been good. But

1:26:00

the third one minus stuff. That's

1:26:04

never happened before in Star Wars. But

1:26:06

you know, Josh Horwitz, the way he kind of

1:26:09

sums this all up is he

1:26:11

tweeted out, there was a lot of

1:26:13

sadness and a little awkwardness when I

1:26:15

brought up to the Game of Thrones

1:26:17

guys their abandoned

1:26:20

Star Wars trilogy. So

1:26:22

you hear under the surface a

1:26:24

bit of disappointment there from D.B.

1:26:26

Weiss. They

1:26:29

continue, Josh continued the

1:26:31

conversation and asked David Benioff

1:26:33

about how he feels about

1:26:35

James Mangold picking up the

1:26:37

slack and running

1:26:40

with the ball when it comes to

1:26:42

telling a story about the earliest days

1:26:44

of the Jedi and the Force. And

1:26:47

I'd even bother pulling that clip

1:26:49

for you to listen to because

1:26:51

David Benioff appeared to be talking

1:26:53

into his iPhone while walking his

1:26:55

dog during this interview. And I

1:26:57

don't even think he half heard

1:26:59

the question before he

1:27:02

responded. So that's probably

1:27:04

where some of the awkwardness really comes

1:27:06

in that Josh Horwitz is talking about.

1:27:08

But basically Benioff said, well, you know, James

1:27:11

is a great guy and that was about

1:27:13

it. There

1:27:15

was really nothing said there. Benioff

1:27:19

and Weiss, let's see how

1:27:21

well three-body, whatever the

1:27:23

hell this thing is called,

1:27:25

three-body problems is received

1:27:27

by fans who watch it on

1:27:30

Netflix. I know very little about

1:27:32

it. It seems to be

1:27:34

sci-fi in nature, but,

1:27:38

you know, I'm not going to watch it. So put

1:27:40

away a camera. If it's

1:27:42

great, if not, we'll create a buzz about

1:27:45

it. I might find myself being interested, but

1:27:48

just scratching the surface, it doesn't look

1:27:50

like anything I'd be interested in. But

1:27:52

file it away with Snyder's

1:27:57

Rebel Moon movie.

1:28:00

Zax and I are in a rubble wound.

1:28:02

That's probably where this thing's gonna land. Now

1:28:04

on the other side of the coin, I've

1:28:07

heard a lot of great things about Gareth

1:28:09

Edwards' sci-fi film The Creator. A lot of

1:28:12

things. Yeah, that's on my list. I want

1:28:14

to see that. Me too. I've

1:28:16

had it in my Amazon wish list for a while,

1:28:18

so yeah, I gotta get it.

1:28:22

So that's the, you know, I think

1:28:24

we can just close the book on

1:28:26

Betting Off and Weiss and Star Wars

1:28:28

and keep that book permanently closed. Unless

1:28:31

these guys want to start talking details

1:28:33

about what was in their actual script,

1:28:35

then I'd be interested. But

1:28:37

well, they may once the mangled film comes

1:28:39

out and if it's a bomb, you know,

1:28:41

we might hear

1:28:44

them talking about, well, you know, we

1:28:47

had a different take. We

1:28:50

were working on that project.

1:28:52

Yeah, ours was better. Yeah.

1:28:54

Yeah. Like Colin Trevorrow putting

1:28:56

out his Rise of Skywalker script

1:28:58

after everyone. Well, not everyone, but.

1:29:01

Rebel Force Radio.

1:29:06

The delicious ice cold taste of Dr. Pepper

1:29:08

has a lasting effect on people. Lindsay from

1:29:10

Sacramento said... Pro tip, 40 degrees is the

1:29:12

perfect temperature for an ice cold Dr. Pepper.

1:29:14

Why is 40 degrees the perfect temperature for

1:29:16

Dr. Pepper? We brought in Sue from Duluth,

1:29:18

Minnesota to tell us. Oh yeah, I know

1:29:20

a thing or two about cold. Oh, that right there

1:29:22

is the perfect kind of ice cold for Dr. Pepper.

1:29:26

I'd share that with my friend Nancy. She likes Dr.

1:29:28

Pepper too, you know, in my cold. All right,

1:29:30

that'll be all Sue. Having a perfect temperature

1:30:07

right, here's some good news. Jake

1:30:10

Lloyd's mom has spoken out after

1:30:12

quite a while. I

1:30:14

can't remember Jim the last time that we've heard

1:30:16

anything from Jake Lloyd

1:30:18

or about Jake Lloyd. It's

1:30:20

been years and years. And

1:30:23

we do know that he has

1:30:25

had struggles with mental health and

1:30:28

has been unable to

1:30:30

sort of make appearances

1:30:34

associated with the Star Wars films or

1:30:36

any of his films. And

1:30:38

he's got two, you know, really, it's

1:30:40

amazing to me, even that Jingle All The Way movie that

1:30:42

he did with Schwarzenegger, every Christmas

1:30:45

season it seems like that gets more and

1:30:47

more play on cable and people

1:30:49

are more and more fond of it. So

1:30:51

it's really becoming a Christmas staple. So he's

1:30:53

got that. And of course, he's got a

1:30:55

fan of Menace. And we know how the

1:30:57

prequels over the years, over the most recent

1:31:00

years, have really aged quite

1:31:02

well. And there's a lot more excitement and

1:31:04

nostalgia and love for those movies than ever

1:31:06

before. So I think Jake is somebody

1:31:08

that fans would love to embrace coming

1:31:11

back onto the scene. And

1:31:13

maybe at some point we'll be able to get

1:31:16

it. But I'm really happy about this article.

1:31:19

Clayton Sandell wrote it. It was an interview

1:31:22

with Jake's mom. We actually met Jake Lloyd's

1:31:24

mom once. I

1:31:26

met her several times over the

1:31:28

years, actually. But I remember you

1:31:30

and her at Star Wars Celebration

1:31:33

2007. I

1:31:36

think it was Star Wars Celebration 4. And

1:31:39

you and her seemed to really hit it

1:31:41

off. And she seemed well

1:31:44

pretty fond of them. I started talking

1:31:47

to her not knowing it was Jake

1:31:49

Lloyd's mom. I

1:31:54

wasn't feeling any kind of weirdness or

1:31:56

pressure or anything like that. And

1:32:00

then it was revealed to me who it was. And

1:32:03

yeah, very, very, very nice person. And

1:32:08

we interviewed Jake, I think at that show

1:32:10

we got a chance to talk to him.

1:32:12

It was the craziest thing. We were behind

1:32:15

the pipe and curtain at the

1:32:17

official's picks and autograph

1:32:20

hall. And we were

1:32:22

just sort of hanging out. And somebody said to me, Jake

1:32:26

Lloyd, you know, just something about Jake Lloyd.

1:32:28

I went, Jake Lloyd is here. And

1:32:30

then it was almost magical. He popped

1:32:32

out from behind the curtain. He says,

1:32:34

somebody looking for me. And

1:32:37

I was like, Jake. And so he

1:32:39

did an interview with us right on the

1:32:41

spot there. And you can find it on

1:32:43

our YouTube channel. It's an audio only interview,

1:32:45

but it's up there on the YouTube. And

1:32:49

he was pretty cool. And

1:32:52

he seemed down to earth to me. And

1:32:55

then over the years, I'd see him

1:32:57

again at other functions out in Japan.

1:33:00

He was always, always remembered me,

1:33:02

always very cordial. And

1:33:04

he told me he was planning on

1:33:07

going to Columbia College in

1:33:09

Chicago. And that's where I

1:33:11

went to school to study broadcast journalism.

1:33:14

And so I found myself kind of

1:33:17

giving him advice and mentoring him

1:33:19

a little bit on going to

1:33:22

Columbia College. My

1:33:24

friend Steve also went

1:33:26

to Columbia and he was working

1:33:28

at the Apple store downtown Chicago

1:33:31

and Jake rolled in there and

1:33:33

they discussed Columbia College too. And

1:33:37

it just seemed like he was on

1:33:39

a good path. He was more interested

1:33:41

in getting into behind the scenes filmmaking.

1:33:44

And Jake growing up in Indiana,

1:33:46

he just over

1:33:48

the border, essentially, he was really

1:33:50

interested in going there. And

1:33:53

after he graduated high school in 2007,

1:33:55

he was looking forward

1:33:57

to attending classes there according to

1:33:59

this. account given

1:34:01

to Scripps from Lisa

1:34:04

Lloyd. His brief enrollment

1:34:06

at the private art school did not

1:34:08

go so well. He missed

1:34:11

a lot of classes. He was telling

1:34:13

me people were following him. Now this

1:34:15

is what would be difficult. So imagine

1:34:17

you're the mother of a

1:34:20

kid who did two pretty

1:34:22

big high-profile movies and

1:34:24

he goes to a public college and

1:34:27

he says, you know, I've got people

1:34:29

following me, I've got people looking at

1:34:31

me. So you're obviously thinking, I'm sure,

1:34:33

as the mother, well yeah, Jake, because

1:34:35

you know you were in these movies

1:34:37

and they're probably fascinated by you and

1:34:40

so yeah it's probably feeling like you're

1:34:43

under the microscope and everyone's staring at

1:34:45

you. But it was actually something darker

1:34:48

unfortunately that Jake was hearing voices

1:34:50

and not real voices,

1:34:54

voices in his head unfortunately. And

1:34:56

so after apparently

1:34:59

not even a full year, he was

1:35:04

diagnosed as being paranoid

1:35:06

schizophrenic. Yeah. So really,

1:35:09

really sad. The

1:35:11

problem started for him in high school.

1:35:14

Lisa Lloyd says that he started

1:35:16

talking about realities. He didn't know

1:35:19

which reality he was in. This

1:35:21

reality or a different reality and

1:35:25

Lisa, you know, I mean she didn't

1:35:27

know how to really react to

1:35:29

that. See, parenting ain't easy and

1:35:31

things pop up all the time and you

1:35:34

just you do your best as

1:35:36

a mom and she certainly did do her best

1:35:38

as a mom but it catches

1:35:40

you off guard when kids

1:35:43

start revealing things like that and

1:35:46

Jake was a special case. Yeah,

1:35:50

yeah and apparently too he

1:35:52

in addition to the paranoid schizophrenia there

1:35:55

was another diagnosis that

1:35:57

caused him to be unaware

1:36:00

or in denial of his

1:36:02

symptoms and his problems. So

1:36:06

now you've compounded the issue because

1:36:08

he's, he's unable to even see

1:36:10

that there's a problem. And

1:36:13

so it looked really, really

1:36:15

bad. It continued to get worse. There

1:36:19

was the authorities

1:36:21

involved, police, all

1:36:23

kinds of things. And then this is

1:36:25

something I did not know until I read this article

1:36:28

that Jake's sister, Madison,

1:36:31

who was also in the Phantom Menace, passed

1:36:34

away at age 26 as

1:36:36

Jake was going through all

1:36:38

of this. I mean,

1:36:40

to lose his sibling at that age, it's

1:36:42

very curious, they said that Madison unexpectedly

1:36:44

died in her sleep of natural causes.

1:36:47

I don't know many 26 year olds that

1:36:49

die of natural causes. Grandpa

1:36:52

dies of natural causes in his sleep.

1:36:55

Grandma does, but sister,

1:36:57

hmm, that's a tough

1:36:59

one. And apparently this just set

1:37:02

Jake back as you would expect.

1:37:04

I mean, he had enough to deal with,

1:37:06

let alone losing his sister. And

1:37:08

then it was in March of 2023 last year. So

1:37:13

about a year ago that he

1:37:15

had a full psychotic break.

1:37:18

And, but that seemed to be the

1:37:21

point where he got back

1:37:23

on the road to hopefully recovering

1:37:26

and getting the treatment that he needs.

1:37:28

He's 10 months, as of the time

1:37:30

this was written, he's 10 months into an 18 month

1:37:33

stay in rehabilitation,

1:37:36

mental health rehabilitation facility.

1:37:39

And she's saying that he is

1:37:41

showing remarkable improvement with

1:37:43

the help of therapy and treatments. And

1:37:46

here's the reason we're bringing this to

1:37:48

you. Not so much about, obviously we

1:37:50

care about Jake, but this

1:37:53

isn't about a morbid review

1:37:55

of his problems. What's

1:37:58

really important to Star Wars fans is. that

1:38:01

his mom sets the record straight. It

1:38:03

was not Star Wars. It was not Star

1:38:05

Wars fans. It was not the reception of

1:38:07

the films because she did a great job

1:38:09

apparently in shielding Jake from a lot of

1:38:12

that crap that came out. You

1:38:14

had guys like Ron Howard out there defending

1:38:16

him against some of these vicious critics. It

1:38:19

was not that that put Jake in

1:38:21

this position. She said it's genetic. His

1:38:23

father suffered from similar issues. Jake

1:38:26

loves Star Wars. He always loved Star

1:38:28

Wars. And it's pretty cool. They talk

1:38:30

about how they've been watching episodes of

1:38:33

Ahsoka together. Jake

1:38:35

and his mom. And we've got a

1:38:37

picture up on the screen that accompanied

1:38:39

this article that for his birthday, she

1:38:41

got him an Ahsoka Tano action figure.

1:38:43

And he's, you know, Jake looks pretty

1:38:45

good. You know, he's got a beard.

1:38:48

He looks a lot older, but, you

1:38:51

know, always been a handsome kid and he looks like he's

1:38:53

a handsome young man. And I

1:38:55

just, I really hope, Jim,

1:38:57

nothing would make me happier than to see, you

1:39:00

know, in a few years, Jake Lloyd

1:39:02

triumphantly returned to a Star Wars celebration

1:39:05

and have a massive long line. I

1:39:07

want to see a photo op of

1:39:09

him and Hayden together. I

1:39:12

just, just so many cool things that

1:39:14

I wish for him because I

1:39:16

think it's obvious that what

1:39:20

Hayden has been getting from the fans,

1:39:22

the love he's been getting, what Ewan

1:39:24

was getting has done a lot for

1:39:26

those two guys, especially Hayden. And I

1:39:28

think Jake is especially deserving

1:39:31

of that outpouring and for him to feel

1:39:33

that love. Yeah, he just,

1:39:36

he has to be in a place mentally

1:39:38

where he's ready. Sure. Exactly,

1:39:40

exactly. It sounds like he's on

1:39:42

the road to recovery and

1:39:45

his mom of the

1:39:48

millennium for being able to take care of him.

1:39:50

He's been through so much in Star Wars, you

1:39:52

know, it's not only

1:39:54

just, it's

1:39:56

the loss of his sister. She

1:39:59

was in the film. with him. You can

1:40:01

see her very briefly in

1:40:03

that moment during Phantom Menace at

1:40:05

the very end when

1:40:07

he's standing up there and Boss

1:40:09

Nass is bringing up the globe

1:40:11

of celebrations. Peace! Yeah,

1:40:14

right, right. There's

1:40:16

a brief shot of Jake as

1:40:19

Anakin and you see Anakin has

1:40:21

ascended to the level of Jedi

1:40:23

Padawan or Jedi Youngling or whatever.

1:40:25

He's got the brave, the giant

1:40:27

ones on him. And

1:40:29

if you look right over his right shoulder,

1:40:32

you see a Naboo girl there

1:40:34

and that's his sister Madison and

1:40:36

he was very tight with her.

1:40:39

And so Star Wars

1:40:41

might conjure up

1:40:43

the associations of that

1:40:46

experience with his sister and it might be

1:40:48

hard for him to push

1:40:50

through all of that. But I've talked

1:40:52

to Jake, I've talked to his family

1:40:54

many times in the past. It's

1:40:57

been a dozen

1:40:59

years since our last conversations.

1:41:02

But he was

1:41:04

and I'm sure

1:41:06

still is a stand-up person and

1:41:08

he always seemed very straightforward to me. I

1:41:11

also know a little bit about him through

1:41:13

conversations I had with Daniel Logan

1:41:16

who Dan knew him as well. And

1:41:19

it's been able to provide me with a

1:41:22

certain level of insight into what sort of

1:41:24

guy he is and I think

1:41:26

he's a great guy. I

1:41:29

really am rooting for him to defeat

1:41:33

the demons that have haunted him

1:41:36

for years and years. But I

1:41:38

do want to say I'm

1:41:40

so glad his mom spoke out and

1:41:43

talked about Jake's relationship

1:41:46

to Star Wars. He's

1:41:48

taking his medication again but the important

1:41:51

thing is over the years

1:41:53

I would see people say Star

1:41:56

Wars fans gave Jake

1:41:58

Lloyd schizophrenia. And

1:42:01

that's impossible. And I've spoken about

1:42:03

this on the show before. That's

1:42:06

a pre-existing condition. You

1:42:08

can't give someone schizophrenia.

1:42:11

And it's so unfortunate that Jake had

1:42:14

to suffer with this affliction. It's

1:42:16

an illness and what

1:42:19

his mom says... It's like saying Star

1:42:21

Wars fans gave Jake Lloyd cancer. Right,

1:42:23

it's impossible. Right. You

1:42:26

know, and his mom did shield

1:42:28

him and protect him from a

1:42:30

lot of the critical backlash and

1:42:32

public BS that

1:42:34

was going on in regards

1:42:36

to his performance in episode

1:42:39

one. Lisa insists it

1:42:42

would have happened anyway, talking

1:42:44

about the history of schizophrenia

1:42:46

in his family. And

1:42:48

she believes it was genetic.

1:42:50

His psychiatrist agrees that Jake

1:42:53

was going down the road

1:42:55

of schizophrenia regardless of

1:42:57

any experience he had

1:42:59

on any feature

1:43:01

film, most notably

1:43:04

Star Wars. And it wasn't Star

1:43:06

Wars fans. I get tired of

1:43:08

the shaming of the

1:43:10

fan base because Jake was

1:43:13

afflicted. And I say was, and I

1:43:15

say it with

1:43:18

a lot of hope in my heart that

1:43:20

this can be pushed in the past

1:43:22

for this young man and he can

1:43:25

plow forward and have a

1:43:27

successful life and career and

1:43:29

relationships with people and everything

1:43:31

and stay the path

1:43:34

to health, to mental health. So

1:43:36

I've always loved Jake Lloyd. And

1:43:39

when he was a kid and even

1:43:42

when I got to know him as a young

1:43:44

adult and then now hearing these updates courtesy

1:43:48

of this interview that Lisa Lloyd gave. So

1:43:50

yeah, we're Team Jake around here I think.

1:43:53

No kidding, no kidding. All right, well keep

1:43:55

him in your prayers, your thoughts, good vibes,

1:43:58

sending them great thoughts in

1:44:00

the through the force and hopefully this is

1:44:02

just the first of many positive updates we'll

1:44:05

be getting about Jake

1:44:07

Lloyd. Yes. Alright, you know

1:44:09

we talked, I mentioned Ewan McGregor just

1:44:11

a few moments ago and this is

1:44:13

something I hadn't seen. I was, you

1:44:15

know, I was trying to think, have

1:44:19

we had any other Star

1:44:21

Wars couples like this? You

1:44:23

know, you have Ewan McGregor and

1:44:26

Mary Elizabeth Winstead both in very

1:44:28

much ensconced in Star Wars. Are

1:44:31

there any other married Star Wars

1:44:33

couples? Obi-Wan and Hera. Yeah,

1:44:35

what a weird, what a

1:44:37

crazy thing but it's

1:44:41

very cool, it's very cool. So

1:44:43

it's great because wherever she goes she's

1:44:46

gonna get Star Wars questions, wherever he

1:44:48

goes he's gonna get Star Wars questions

1:44:50

but let alone them both together on

1:44:53

the Tonight Show. I did not see

1:44:55

this. Yeah, they appeared recently promoting this

1:44:57

new Showtime series they both star in

1:45:00

called A Gentleman in Moscow. I

1:45:02

know very little about this show but

1:45:04

Ewan McGregor and Mary Elizabeth Winstead are

1:45:06

the leads in the show and

1:45:08

they're out promoting it and they

1:45:11

appeared on the Tonight Show with

1:45:13

Jimmy Fallon and Fallon before

1:45:15

he got into the questions

1:45:17

about this new Showtime series.

1:45:20

He had a few things to

1:45:22

say about the fact that both

1:45:25

of them are married and working on

1:45:27

Star Wars and it is, it's a

1:45:29

rarity. So and

1:45:31

Jimmy has always proven himself to be

1:45:33

someone who's been very favorable of Star

1:45:35

Wars and excited about Star Wars so

1:45:37

he jumps right into it at the

1:45:39

beginning of this interview. I

1:45:42

want to talk Star Wars. Oh yeah. Because you both

1:45:44

have Star Wars and comment. Did

1:45:50

you, when did you, is it fun

1:45:52

that you're both very involved in the

1:45:55

Star Wars universe? I mean is that

1:45:57

weird? I mean that's bizarre right? somewhat

1:46:00

bizarre, but it's very nice. It's bizarre

1:46:02

in that it's just amazing that it happened, you know,

1:46:05

because it's like such a cool thing to be a

1:46:07

part of. Did you give any tips on what it's like

1:46:09

to be on set or... No. Did

1:46:12

I? No. I mean, no tips, but you know, I

1:46:14

got to sort of see how much fun it was

1:46:16

for him to do it. And I

1:46:18

think you just talked to me about how special it

1:46:20

is to get to kind of be

1:46:23

a part of something that means so much to so many people.

1:46:25

I mean, Star Wars fans are like heartfelt

1:46:27

fans. And I think it's incredibly special

1:46:29

to get to... Can we be seeing

1:46:32

maybe a second season of Obi-Wan or

1:46:34

Ahsoka? Can we... I think Ahsoka

1:46:36

is going to happen. Well, we think so.

1:46:38

It's in development. It's getting... Right. That's

1:46:43

good. That'll be good. That'll be great. Any...

1:46:46

I don't know. For me, I have no news

1:46:48

to tell. I'm waiting for the call. All right.

1:46:50

Yeah, yeah. But I don't know that it's happening.

1:46:52

Who knows? Who knows?

1:46:54

I don't know. Well, I think we know,

1:46:57

according to the cover of the Blu-ray that's coming out

1:46:59

here in a few weeks. And

1:47:01

I don't say that to be flip, because honestly, I

1:47:03

actually would love to see... Ewan

1:47:05

McGregor back as Obi-Wan Kenobi. And I honestly, I

1:47:08

don't even need it to be... a

1:47:11

sweeping epic and involved Vader, really.

1:47:14

I just would like to see maybe another adventure with

1:47:17

Obi-Wan Kenobi, to be honest with you, just

1:47:20

to spend more time with that character. But

1:47:23

it doesn't look like that's going to be the

1:47:26

case, sadly, given that the cover

1:47:28

of the Blu-ray 4K says

1:47:31

the complete series. How

1:47:33

did they want to blow that?

1:47:35

They got Ewan flipping McGregor, and

1:47:37

they got a whole Disney Plus

1:47:40

streaming platform, and they

1:47:42

can't get it together to come up with some

1:47:44

stories about Obi-Wan. Again, like you

1:47:46

said, Jason, it doesn't have to be

1:47:48

earth-shattering as far as the overall mythology

1:47:50

goes and tie in to all these

1:47:53

other characters and the Empire and Darth

1:47:55

Vader and his past with Anakin. It

1:47:57

could just be him, you know? grilling

1:48:00

hot dogs with some Jawas

1:48:02

or playing T-Mote. Right.

1:48:08

I mean, give us, you know,

1:48:10

you and McGregor could

1:48:12

put on the Jedi robes and

1:48:14

play foosball with Tusken Raiders for

1:48:16

all I care. How do you

1:48:18

blow that? I mean... Yeah,

1:48:21

yeah. The guy wants to. You

1:48:23

have one of the

1:48:25

biggest, as far as the Star

1:48:27

Wars universe outside

1:48:31

of, say, Harrison Ford, you have... You

1:48:33

and McGregor is a big star. You and McGregor is

1:48:35

a big star, and he goes on all these shows

1:48:37

and says that he's dying to do more Obi-Wan Kenobi.

1:48:40

The F, you can't figure something out

1:48:42

for the guy to do. I mean, really?

1:48:45

Meanwhile, you're bending over backwards to create stuff

1:48:47

like the Acolyte when this stuff is right

1:48:49

in front of you and you got a

1:48:51

star like you and McGregor dying and just

1:48:53

chomping at the bit to do it. You

1:48:56

know, if I didn't know better, I would think that you

1:49:00

don't care about current fans. You just want to create

1:49:02

new fans. Sometimes

1:49:04

I feel that way. There. Well,

1:49:08

you know, if the Acolyte goes

1:49:10

south, they might be reconsidering the

1:49:12

Kenobi thing. Yeah, they be. We

1:49:15

have another clip of Ewan and

1:49:18

Mary Elizabeth talking about,

1:49:20

you know, being

1:49:23

two stars of Star Wars. Your

1:49:26

kids are going to get some perks along

1:49:28

the way, and they worked

1:49:30

it out. So their son, their

1:49:33

baby Yoda-obsessed son

1:49:36

got to meet the real deal, the

1:49:38

actual Grogu, on set. Wow.

1:49:41

And let's hear how this went down. Do

1:49:44

you guys have Star Wars merch all over the house? We

1:49:48

have a little bit. A little bit. It

1:49:50

creeps in, you know. Like

1:49:52

there are, there's a couple of Obi-Wan dolls that our

1:49:54

son Laurie calls Daddy. Like, It's

1:49:57

like, oh, hi, Daddy. Daddy. yeah

1:50:00

that's right that's really cool that yeah

1:50:02

and that's in the in the obi-wan

1:50:04

yet how are you into grogan who

1:50:07

doesn't appear in either of our series that

1:50:11

i thought that the kid you know that yeah

1:50:13

you know that he met the real grogan yeah

1:50:16

on on on my that you and came to

1:50:18

to visit me at work and you know i would

1:50:20

be the other the cutest thing ever seen my

1:50:22

life there was a big build-up to it could

1:50:24

be got stuck several grogan stuffed animals that he

1:50:27

loves i mean since he was born to

1:50:29

now he loves them he wants to take him

1:50:31

everywhere so we were like where you

1:50:33

can meet the real grogan the real grogan and

1:50:35

he was like a year and a half at this point um

1:50:38

and the whole the team like the real everybody was there

1:50:41

to make this happen to like bring grogan

1:50:43

to life in front of him oh my

1:50:45

gosh it went really badly he

1:50:47

freaked out he

1:50:50

freaked out he loved it yeah what that's

1:50:52

like is yeah it's like being the first

1:50:54

celebrity right i did not like it it

1:50:56

was too weird it was

1:50:58

too realistic too much too weird

1:51:00

that's hilarious screaming the poor and

1:51:02

the the puppeteers were like oh

1:51:05

sorry sorry like oh

1:51:10

could you imagine yeah i can't

1:51:12

imagine i can imagine i i

1:51:14

know what it's like when you

1:51:16

build something up and your kid's just not

1:51:18

quite ready for it you know when i took

1:51:20

the kids to disney you know parker

1:51:23

was three and i just or four and

1:51:25

i just thought oh isn't that a wonderful

1:51:27

age isn't that a

1:51:29

wonderful age for the magic of

1:51:32

disney everything terrified him

1:51:34

starting with the rainforest cafe oh

1:51:36

my god but

1:51:41

oh can you yeah right these guys you

1:51:44

can imagine how excited they are you and

1:51:46

mcgregor and mary elizabeth oh yeah son and

1:51:48

they're gonna they're gonna and and they

1:51:50

probably had to call people in look hey eun's

1:51:53

coming in you're bringing the kid we

1:51:55

need all the grogu puppeteers i know you're not working right

1:51:57

now but you got to come in they all come in

1:52:00

in and they're like, we'll do it for you. And, and

1:52:02

they get him and I'm like here. And he's

1:52:04

like, I mean, he, he hears and he got the

1:52:06

whole thing going on in the kitchen bursts

1:52:09

into tears, like put, you know, when you

1:52:11

put your kid on Santa's lap for the

1:52:13

first time, it's just instant tears. What

1:52:16

the hell is that? I mean, it

1:52:18

was like two of reality. Those puppeteers

1:52:20

are too good. And the

1:52:23

movie magic isn't just restricted to

1:52:25

the film. It's, it's happening

1:52:27

right in front of you. You're going to meet Grogu.

1:52:29

You're going to meet Grogu. You're going to meet Grogu.

1:52:37

So freaky, you know, could you, and

1:52:39

the puppeteers are all apologetic, you know,

1:52:41

these guys are masters at their craft,

1:52:43

top of the game, cutting edge. And

1:52:46

you bring a one and a half year old

1:52:48

there in front of them and they want to

1:52:50

put on a good show and the next thing

1:52:52

you know, you got a kid who's terrified. Puppeteers

1:52:56

are all apologetic. I'm

1:52:58

so sorry. It's not you. It's

1:53:01

not you. It's a, it's, you know, kids,

1:53:03

you know, Oh,

1:53:10

what a scene. What a scene. Well, Hey, you

1:53:12

know what? Why don't we close out the show

1:53:14

with some pop culture? We might be able to

1:53:16

get a couple of these in here. We still

1:53:18

got time. Which ones? Yeah. Okay. Let's

1:53:21

just, let's pause through one at least. We

1:53:23

promise it. We'll do your own

1:53:25

Sheldon. All right. Let's do that. All right.

1:53:27

Star Wars in pop culture. That

1:53:30

old force radio. We've already made

1:53:32

that forward reference. You are so

1:53:34

rich for the Polish. Star Wars

1:53:36

parody. All

1:53:38

right. Star Wars in pop culture,

1:53:41

where we bring you a clips

1:53:43

of Star Wars as it is referred

1:53:45

to outside of the Star

1:53:47

Wars universe ever since the days

1:53:50

of the Simpsons and family guy

1:53:52

and all of that, actually going

1:53:54

back to the clerks. Right.

1:53:57

The clerks film was one of the first big moments

1:53:59

for Star Wars in pop. culture we've been bringing that

1:54:01

to you and this week we've

1:54:03

got something from Young

1:54:05

Sheldon which my daughter Bailey loves

1:54:07

the Young Sheldon show oh really

1:54:09

and she loves it

1:54:11

she she watches it during study hall these

1:54:13

kids are allowed to bring their phones to

1:54:16

school in high school she's in high school

1:54:19

she's a freshman and she said yeah you

1:54:21

know the other night she told me by

1:54:23

the way I get this notice from AT&T

1:54:25

it says you you're just about

1:54:27

to go over your data my data how am

1:54:29

I going over my dad it's like you got

1:54:32

a whole week left and then we're gonna charge

1:54:34

you 15 bucks a day and then Bailey comes

1:54:36

home from school she's like dad I watched that

1:54:38

Napoleon movie at school today and

1:54:41

I'm like let me guess on

1:54:43

your phone the Ridley song your

1:54:45

phone well yeah so she's

1:54:48

got a stack of study halls

1:54:50

and so she watches stuff anyway

1:54:52

one of the things she watches is the Young Sheldon show

1:54:56

boy oh boy man the

1:54:58

high school I went to if I

1:55:00

was going there on this day they they

1:55:03

would definitely not let me walk in

1:55:05

there with a phone I don't know

1:55:07

how how they manage all of

1:55:09

that you know I don't know

1:55:11

either guys if I had like a baseball

1:55:13

card in my pocket it would get snatched

1:55:16

away from me in the middle of class

1:55:18

much less a source where

1:55:20

I could watch unlimited television and

1:55:22

films at school

1:55:25

in study hall yeah

1:55:28

yeah I don't want to say that I would

1:55:30

I will share this real quick you said if I

1:55:32

had a baseball card I went

1:55:35

it was second grade it was the first day of second

1:55:37

grade and I was so I don't know what it was

1:55:39

about second grade I was so nervous and and

1:55:41

the night before the first day of school you got

1:55:43

those jitters and I had a little I had

1:55:46

a Chicago Bears you'll appreciate this

1:55:48

gym because I got caught

1:55:50

up I mean he thought I needed my

1:55:53

own football team because my brother had the

1:55:55

Dallas Cowboys we couldn't love the Browns because

1:55:57

they were terrible but my brother had the

1:55:59

Dallas Cowboys and the

1:56:01

Chicago Bears had just won the Super Bowl. They had

1:56:03

the Super Bowl shuffle and I was just like, yes.

1:56:06

And I thought, oh, this is cool. I like the

1:56:08

Chicago Bears. So like for Christmas one year, I got

1:56:10

a one of those Velcro wallets,

1:56:13

you know, that you had. And I

1:56:16

had a Chicago Bears wallet in the night

1:56:18

before second, first day of second grade, I

1:56:20

filled it with, do you

1:56:23

remember the tops sticker books, the Star

1:56:25

Wars sticker books? These weren't the trading

1:56:27

cards, right? And I would

1:56:30

keep all my extras. I would put, you know, if

1:56:32

I got doubles and I stuck them all in the

1:56:34

wallet where

1:56:36

you put your photos. Wow. And

1:56:39

I put a bunch of Return of the

1:56:41

Jedi stickers in there just to give me

1:56:43

some comfort. Yeah. Cause I

1:56:45

was so nervous about second grade and

1:56:48

first day of school and I'm

1:56:50

there and I see a friend of

1:56:52

mine and I pull out my wallet, open

1:56:55

up that Chicago Bears Velcro wallet and we're

1:56:57

flipping through and looking at the Return of

1:56:59

the Jedi stickers and what you know, mean

1:57:02

old Mrs. Hawkins. What are you

1:57:04

looking at? What is that? Took it

1:57:06

from me, put it in her

1:57:08

desk. I didn't get it

1:57:10

for days. Yeah, now these kids

1:57:13

are watching movies. I know. On

1:57:15

their phones. With this high tech gear they're walking into

1:57:17

the school with. But I

1:57:19

got it, I have to say, now

1:57:22

we've been doing this show for a long time, Swank. A

1:57:25

long time. And learning today

1:57:28

that you were walking around

1:57:30

school in the 80s

1:57:32

with a Chicago Bears Velcro wallet. I'd

1:57:35

never felt more connected to you. I've

1:57:37

never, I mean, it's like,

1:57:40

there's almost a brotherhood that's forging

1:57:42

along here. I tell you, man,

1:57:44

the fridge was in GI Joe.

1:57:47

Like I said, you had the Super Bowl shuffle and Jim

1:57:49

McMahon was like the coolest guy I got

1:57:52

on earth. And yeah,

1:57:54

so that was my, I felt like I needed

1:57:56

my team. So, yeah, I picked the Super Bowl

1:57:59

champions. Hell

1:58:01

yeah, you did. I'm so proud

1:58:03

of you. But let's jump into

1:58:05

a little young Sheldon here. Young

1:58:08

Bailey is watching Sheldon

1:58:11

in school during Study Hall. We're

1:58:13

celebrating that show here on Star

1:58:16

Wars and Pop Culture. And

1:58:18

we're going back to Season 6, Episode 15.

1:58:22

The name of the episode is a

1:58:24

launch party and a whole human being.

1:58:28

Thank you to the RFR listener who

1:58:30

tipped me off on this. Unfortunately, I

1:58:32

didn't save your name in my notes,

1:58:34

so I feel kind of lame. If

1:58:37

you're the one who suggested Young Sheldon

1:58:39

to me, reach out,

1:58:41

show at rebelforceradio.com, and

1:58:43

I'll give you a shout out on a future

1:58:46

show. You know who

1:58:48

you are. Here

1:58:50

comes 15 to 30 emails

1:58:53

claiming they're the ones who

1:58:55

tipped me off to play Young Sheldon. I'll

1:58:57

know who's telling the truth. But

1:59:00

I guess there was a Star Wars

1:59:02

reference in this particular episode, so let's

1:59:04

check it out. Do

1:59:07

you think my mom and your dad are going to be

1:59:09

boyfriend and girlfriend? No. If

1:59:12

they got married, would that make us brother and sister?

1:59:14

It's not going to happen. Luke

1:59:16

Skywalker and Princess Leia were brother and sister and

1:59:18

they still kissed. I

1:59:21

didn't write it. That's a good one. That's

1:59:23

a good one. That's a good one. That's

1:59:27

a good one. Oh,

1:59:29

man. I

1:59:31

really like that. And that's a good move from that

1:59:33

young man, too. Are

1:59:36

they brother and sister? I don't know what's

1:59:38

going on with Young Sheldon, but it sounds

1:59:41

kind of ancestral, but that fits right into

1:59:43

the Star Wars scene. So yeah.

1:59:46

Right. Well, you know what? You can't

1:59:48

beat them, join them. Well, if you've got a Star

1:59:50

Wars and pop culture reference that you would like to

1:59:52

bring to our attention, you

1:59:54

can do so show at rebelforceradio.com.

1:59:58

And it's also very helpful if you put in. like the

2:00:01

episode and the time. If

2:00:03

you really want to go the extra mile, you

2:00:06

could just send the audio to Jimmy Mac, but

2:00:09

certainly, he's specific. The

2:00:12

audio has to meet my standards, and I

2:00:14

don't mean to put our listeners through that.

2:00:17

Through that? That whole thing

2:00:20

where I'm rejecting things. So,

2:00:23

just let me know where to find it and

2:00:25

where the time is when they

2:00:27

make the reference. Most people do,

2:00:30

and we have a bunch of them. They're

2:00:32

piling up. If you send a suggestion for

2:00:34

a Star Wars and

2:00:37

pop culture reference to us, we're

2:00:40

not throwing them away or anything. It's just we

2:00:42

gotta find the time to fit them all in. I'm

2:00:45

all written down right here. Yeah, I'm saving them.

2:00:47

We're saving them. And I think we're

2:00:49

on the verge. Like the maquettes in George Lucas'

2:00:52

office, where they don't go anywhere. You never

2:00:54

know when they might show up. That's right.

2:00:57

I think we're on the verge of having

2:00:59

a massive Star Wars and pop

2:01:01

culture segment coming up. We

2:01:04

just have to quit making all of

2:01:06

these audio discoveries of long lost interviews

2:01:09

from 1977. As

2:01:13

long as that cools down, then we might

2:01:15

have more time for Star Wars and pop

2:01:18

culture. We'll get to

2:01:20

it. Keep sending them in. Show at rebelforceradio.com,

2:01:22

and we're stockpiling them, and then you'll

2:01:25

hear them definitely on a future episode

2:01:27

of this very podcast. Chewie,

2:01:30

get us out of here! Hey,

2:01:56

that is a wrap. Thanks for coming to your fourth week

2:01:58

on Rebel Force Radio. Just as a reminder... reminder

2:02:01

Rebel Force Radio doesn't end here. You

2:02:03

can also check us out the Bad

Batch after show those podcast episodes are

2:02:07

dropping on the feed. You can also

find them on YouTube where

2:02:12

we actually record those

2:02:14

live. We broadcast live every

2:02:17

week looking at the Bad Batch the latest episode.

2:02:19

In fact next week we'll

2:02:22

be coming to you on Thursday night because there's

2:02:24

a double feature. Two episodes are going to drop

2:02:27

on the Bad Batch. So we'll be there

2:02:29

Thursday night 9 o'clock p.m. Eastern time on

2:02:31

YouTube. So make sure that you are subscribed

2:02:34

and you signed up for those notifications so

2:02:36

that you know when we are going live

2:02:38

and YouTube while you're there you might as

2:02:40

well check out. We've got video highlights

2:02:43

of this very podcast as well

2:02:45

as the entire audio. It

2:02:47

is sort of how we premiere outside

2:02:49

of the podcast feed. Each

2:02:52

episode of Rebel Force Radio gets a premiere moment

2:02:54

on YouTube. So that's a great way to follow

2:02:56

us. But if you want even more Rebel Force

2:02:58

Radio there's no better way than

2:03:01

Patreon. Go to patreon.com/Rebel

2:03:03

Force Radio and

2:03:05

there you will get opportunities

2:03:07

to increase your

2:03:10

RFR exposure like

2:03:12

exclusive podcasts you can't get anywhere

2:03:14

else. There's multiple shows not just

2:03:16

one there's several shows you can't

2:03:18

of choice. They're exclusive for

2:03:23

podcast or for Patreon

2:03:25

supporters only. There's also the weekly full

2:03:28

show video for All Access members and

2:03:30

as Jim mentioned that entire audio that

2:03:32

we were listening to of that newly

2:03:36

discovered 1977 interview footage of

2:03:38

Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Harrison

2:03:40

Ford on their very first promo

2:03:43

tour for Star Wars. That entire audio

2:03:45

is going to be released on

2:03:47

Patreon for All Access members. That's a great

2:03:49

reason to get over there and sign up.

2:03:51

We also have a big event coming up

2:03:54

in Bristol, Connecticut on May the 4th. May

2:03:56

It's going to be a happening. So get

2:04:05

all those details at rebelforceradio.com and Patreon supporters

2:04:07

get all kinds of little perks when we're

2:04:10

doing those live events. As

2:04:13

I mentioned, YouTube is a great place for more RFR, but

2:04:15

if you want to really help us, the best way to

2:04:17

do that is to do what you're doing right now, which

2:04:19

is listening to this podcast

2:04:22

and referring us to your friends, the Star

2:04:24

Wars fans in your life. Let them know

2:04:26

about Rebel Force Radio and what a great

2:04:28

time you're having listening and watching. And

2:04:31

if your podcaster of choice allows you to do

2:04:33

so, we'd love to have reviews. We read them

2:04:35

all and we just, we make it simple. There's

2:04:37

just one rule. Make them

2:04:39

good. And

2:04:41

you can subscribe, like, and comment

2:04:44

and follow us on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and

2:04:46

the website, as we mentioned for all things

2:04:48

and everything Rebel Force Radio, rebelforceradio.com. That'll

2:04:51

do it for us. We'll be back next

2:04:53
